Lawrence G. Howard

Lawrence Gray Howard, 66, of 972W 900S, Claypool, IN, died Tuesday, May 20, 1997 at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw, IN. He was born Aug. 31, 1930 at Prestonsburg, KY to Chester and Jonie (England) Howard. He married Magdalene Ousley March 31, 1951. He has been a resident of Kosciusko County for 55 years.

A retired farmer and retired from Gripco Products, South Whitley, IN, he was a U.S. Navy veteran, honorably discharged February 9, 1950. He was a member of the gospel Hill Pentecostal Church of Silver Lake.

Survivors include his wife, Magdalene of Claypool; two sons - Jim Howard of Warsaw and Tim Howard of Claypool; two daughters - Sharon Roe of Warsaw and Cheryl Buell of Claypool; a sister, Buretia Clark of West Palm Beach, FL; and ten grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons - Larry and Gary Howard, and a brother, Alonzo Howard.

Friends may call Thursday, May 22, 1997 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Titus Funeral Home in Warsaw. Funeral service will be held Friday, May 23, 2:00 p.m. at Gospel Hill Pentecostal Church of Silver Lake, with the Rev. Frank Whitaker officiating. Burial will be in Silver Lake Cemetery.

Preferred memorials are to the Gospel Hill Pentecostal Church, SR 15S, Silver Lake, IN 46982.

Mildred L. Latta

Mildred L. Latta, 66, of 400 W. Seventh Street, North Manchester, IN, died Wednesday, May 14, 1997 at Peabody Retirement Commu-nity, North Manchester. She was born April 5, 1931 at Warsaw, IN to Fred and Irene (Shand) Latta. She had been a resident of North Manchester for the past seven years.

She had been employed by A.R.C. of Wabash. She was a member of the First Brethren Church of North Manchester.

Survivors include three aunts - Ester Long of Ft. Myers, FL and Janice Sellers of Warsaw; also two uncles - Paul Latta of Warsaw and Lester Shand of Atwood, IN.

Memorial service was held today, Wednesday, May 21, 1997 at 2:00 p.m.at Peabody Retirement Community with Chaplains Grana Bodart and Kurt Stout officiating. Private interment arranged by McHattan Sadler Funeral Chapel of Warsaw, IN.

Catherine L. McIntosh

Mrs. Catherine Louise McIntosh, 75, of Indianapolis, IN died Monday, May 19, 1997 at St. Vincent Hospice of Indianapolis, IN. 

A licensed practical nurse, she worked in Triage in Emergency Room at Fort Myers Community Hospital, Ft. Myers, FL. for seven years, retiring in 1980. She also worked as LPN at Timbercrest Retirement Community in North Manchester for two years.

She was married to Jay M. McIntosh, who preceded her in death. Survivors include daughters Nancy Hoover of Makado, MI and Sara Thompson of Brownsburg, IN; sons Jay D. McIntosh of Bedford, MA, and Paul E. McIntosh of Placerville, CA; a brother, Edwin Parsley of Blue Eye, MO and a sister, Eleanor Parsley of Deer Park, TX.

Friends may call at the Flanner & Buchanan Speedway Mortuary, Indian-apolis, Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. There are no services planned. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens, Fort Myers, FL. Preferred memorials are to the American Cancer Society.

Claire E. King

Claire E. King, 69, a resident of Norwood Nursing Center, Huntington, IN, formerly a Huntington resident, died May 18, 1997 at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne. She was born Feb. 7, 1928 at New York, N.Y. to John and Edna (Jacobs) Binnie, both deceased.

A homemaker, she married William M. King Sr. June 17, 1964 and he preceded her in death Sept. 29, 1975.

Survivors include sons William M. King Jr. of North Manchester, and Michael King of Lagro, IN; daughters Mrs. Brent (Myla) Augs-purger of Roanoke, IN, Vickie Herring of Sanford, FL, Mrs. Jeff (Bonnie) Adkins of Karo, GA, and Christine King of Decatur, IN; a brother, John Binnie of Forest Hills, N.Y.; a sister Grace Finnegan of Lakewood, N.J.; 24 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. One daughter and a sister preceded her in death.

Graveside service was held today, Wednesday, May 21, 1997 at Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester. DeLaughter-McKee Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Irene A. Paltz

Irene Adelle Paltz, 90, a resident of Timbercrest Retire-ment Home, North Manches-ter, and formerly of 302 W. 11th St., Rochester, IN 46975, died at Timbercrest Thursday, May 15, 1997. She was born April 13, 1907 in Richland Township of Fulton County, IN to Byron O. and Leila O. (Tatman) Smith, both deceased. 

She married Arnold Alfred Paltz June 3, 1939 and he preceded her in death February 1950. 

She lived most of her life in the Fulton County area. She was a retired school teacher, who had taught in the Akron High School, also, Riddle and Columbia Elementary Schools in Rochester. She was a Rochester H.S. graduate and a 1929 graduate of Indiana University where she received the B.A. degree in French and English. She was also a member of Kappa Delta Sorority while at I.U.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist church of Rochester; O.E.S. #70 Rochester; Sigma Delta Pi Sorority of Rochester, AARP, Rochester, Indiana Retired Teachers Association and Fulton County Retired Teachers Association.

Survivors include cousins, Mrs. Lucy Smith of Tillamook, OR, Mrs. Richard Flemming of Modesto, CA and Mrs. Peggy Roberts of Rio Rancho, N.M. Her parents, her husband, and a sister, Mildred Lucile Smith preceded her in death.

Funeral service was held Tuesday, May 20, 1997 at Foster & Good Funeral Home of Rochester, with Dr. C. David Hogsett officiating. Burial was in Rochester I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Rochester.

Mabel Brubaker

Mabel E. Brubaker, 94, of Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester, died Thursday, May 15, 1997 at Peabody Healthcare Center. She was born Dec. 27, 1902 at Rensselaer, IN to Levi and Emma (Wray) Renicker. 

She married Milton C. Brubaker June 29, 1924 in North Manchester; he died Sept. 2, 1980. A lifetime county resident, she was a member of the North Manchester Old German Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Donald W. Brubaker of North Manchester, and a daughter, Mrs. Fred (Marilyn) Thompson of Laketon; five grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, a sister, a grandchild, and a great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held Sunday, May 18, 1997 in the Old German Baptist Church with the Home Brethren officiating. Burial was in the Old German Baptist Cemetery. Preferred memorials are to the Peabody Foundation.

Grandstaff-Hentgen Bender Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
