Masonic services held for George McIntosh

DOWNEY-Masonic graveside services were held Tuesday, June 3, at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier for George McIntosh, a former longtime Downey resident, who died at Mul-care Convalescent Hospital in Indio May 29.

He lived in Indio for the past 14 years, but was a previous Downey resident and an employee of General Motors in South Gate for 31 years. He was a member of the Downey United Lodge No. 220, F & A.M. and the Coachella Valley Eastern Star No. 360.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Connie, in 1963.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; his daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Ray Sherman; and granddaughter Mindy Sherman.

Arrangements were by the Downey Zrelak Family Mortuary.

DOWNEY-Graveside services were held May 27 at the Downey Cemetery for John Shepherd Sr.

A native of Los Angeles, he was born Oct. 16, 1948. In 1968 he moved to Vallejo, CA, where he worked for the Mare Island Shipyards for 15 years.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie of Vallejo; two sons, John III of Vallejo and Jamie of San Clemente; two stepdaughters of Vallejo; and six grandchildren; his mother, Hazel Shepherd of Downey; three brothers, Roger of Vallejo, James of Modesto, David of Vacaville; and a sister, Shirley Schifani of La Mirada.

Berna Swadeck officiated at the service.
