ELBERT T. LAMBERT
Funeral services for Elbert T. Lambert, 82,
of Rocky Gap, Va. will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. from the Rocky
Gap Methodist Church with the Rev. R. E. Hamlin officiating. Burial
is in the Rocky Gap Cemetery.
Mr. Lambert died Thursday afternoon enroute
to a Bluefield hospital. He was born Oct. 26, 1875 the son of the
late Alec A. and Liza Warner Lambert and had lived his entire life in Bland
County. He was a retired farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Cora C.
Lambert and a daughter, Mrs. W. E. Burton of Clarksburg; two half-brothers,
McKinley and Vance Lambert both of Narrows, Va. and two half-sisters, Mrs.
W. D. Walmsley of Pearisburg and Mrs. Sidney Tickle of Wytheville, Va.
The body will be removed from Dudley Memorial
Mortuary today at 2 p.m. to the home where it will remain until one hour
prior to funeral sevices.
MRS. JAMES JACKSON
Mrs. James Jackson, 86, died in a Saltville
Hospital yesterday afternoon.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Wesley
Allison and Mrs. H. P. Henderson, of Saltville, Mrs. John Sullins,
of Kingsport, Tenn., and Mrs. J. J. Meltz, of Philadelphia, Pa.; three
sons, Joe Hendeson, of Princeton,W. Va., Charlie and Sam Jackson, both
of Saltville; two sisters, Mrs. Simon Crewey, of Chilhowie, Va., Mrs. John
Howell, of Saltville; four brothers, John Smith, of Chilhowie, Walter Smith
and Clarence Smith, of Richmond, Va., and Lawrence Smith of Saltville;
22 grandchildren and several greatgrandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at the
Henderson Funeral Home in Saltville.
JAMES GLENN BROWN
Funeral services for James Glenn Brown, 59,
of Steelsburg section of Cedar Bluff, Va., will be held from the Hurst
Scott Funeral Home Chapel, Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock with Dr. A. B.
Willford in charge assisted by the Rev. Nelson Barker.
Interment will be in the Hankins Cemetery
He died in a Richlands hospital yesterday
morning following an illness of several months. He was born near
Cedar Bluff, the son of the late Boss and Cynthia Whitt Brown. He
had been an employee of the Jewell Ridge Coal Company at Jewell Ridge prior
to moving to his farm near Cedar Bluff where he had been a farmer for 20
He was a member of Richlands Lodge Number
318, AF&AM, and was recently presented his 25-year-pin from the lodge.
Survivors include his wife, the former Miss
Leora Ball; five sisters, Mrs. Gerogia Smith of Richlands, Mrs. Ora Whitt,
of Caretta, W. Va., Mrs. Rosa Moore, of Grundy, Va., Mrs. Lula Altizer,
of Squire, W. Va., and Mrs. Willie Horton of Cedar Bluff, Va.; two brothers,
Sam and Robert of Richlands; one half-sister, Mrs.Essie Redmond, of Indiana;
one half-brother, Thurmond Brown, of Bluefield, W. Va.; and one step-brother,
Bordine Prater, of Orlando, Fl.
The Richlands Masonic Lodge will serve as
active pallbearers and conduct graveside rites.
The body will remain at the Hurst Scott Funeral
Home where friends may call after 1 p.m. today.
FELIX BAILEY REPASS, SR.
Felix Bailey Repass, Sr., 54, a crane operator
for the Virginian Railway died at Memorial Hospital in Princeton yesterday
morning from a heart attack he had suffered a week ago.
He was the son of the late Pinkard and Martha
Bourne Repass and was born in Tazewell, Va., Aug. 23, 1902.
Survivors include his widow the former Vada
Jackson, two daughters Mrs. Louis Pedneau, and Mrs. Imogene Hill; one son,
Felix Bailey Repass, Jr., all of Princeton; a step daughter, Mrs. Christine
Allen of Lindside; a step-son, W. J. Dillow, Peterstown, three brothers,
W. R. Repass and B. Y. Repass, of Princeton and Frank Repass of Bluefield;
anda half-brother, Geroge Gregory, of Gratton, Va.
The body will be removed from the Seaver
Mortuary Chapel this afternoon to the residence where it will remain until
1 p.m. Sunday when it will be taken to the Melrose Chapel where services
will be at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Paul Bhon, officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Mack Belcher, C. R. Bailey,
G. W. Linkenhoker, Frank Bowling, Dave French, Carl Wade.
Flowerbearers will be women of Melrose Chapel.
MRS. LUCY OWENS
Last rites for Mrs. Lucy (Grandma) Haga Owens,
86, of Hiawatha who died Thursday night at the home of her son Floyd Haga,
will be conducted today at 2 p.m. from the Bailey Funeral Chapel in Matoka
with ther Rev. Lee Warden officiating. Burial will follow in the
Woodlawn Cemetery. Mrs. Owens death was attributed to complications.
She was born Jan. 12, 1871 in Grayson County,
Va., daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lorenzo Roberts. She came
to Hiawatha from Marion, Va.
Her only survivors are her son, Floyd of
Hiawatha and 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for James Sheridan Thompson
Jr., five-year old son of Mr. and Mrs. James Thompson of Bluefield, will
be conducted today at 2 p.m. from the Bratton Memorial Chapel of the Mercer
Funeral Home with the Rev. Ralph Hager, of Richlands, Va. Interment
will follow in the Bailey Cemetery at Edison Hollow.
The child died Thursday afternoon at the
home of his matenal grandmother, Mrs. Blanche Hager of Route 1, Bluefield.
He was born in Bluefield on Sept. 15, 1951. Also surviving are a
brother and a sister and his maternal grandfathe, Rader Hager of Ada.
The body will remain at Mercer Funeral Home,
where friends may call.
JAMES ISSAC SWEENEY
James Issac Sweeney, 33, of Mercer Street,
Princeton, died yesterday afternoon at 4 p.m. in the Memorial Hospital
following a week’s illness.
He was a machinist for the Virginian Railway
in Princeton and was a member of IAOF M, Local 53, and the Kee Street Methodist
Church. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Navy.
He was born in Neponsit, Monroe County, a
son of the late Oather and Lena Martin Sweeney.
Surviving is one daughter, Miss Jannett Iline
Sweeney of Hot Springs, Ark., one sister, Miss Arline Sweeney of Princeton
and Benjamin Sweeney of St. Albans.
The body is at the Memorial Funeral Directory
where arrangements will be made.
ROBERT L. CALLAWAY
Robert L. Callaway, 21, Crystal, Va., died
yesterday at teh Veterans Hospital in Otten, N. C.
The body will be brought to the Cravens Funeral
Home in Montcalm where arrangements will be made.
ACHACHUK, Oks, 68, of Jenkinjones,
today at 2 p.m. from the Pocahontas Union Funeral Home. Interment
will follow in the Pocahontas Cemetery.
WINN, Homer Jr., of Richmond, Va.,
1 p.m. today from the First Baptist Church at Narrows, Va. Burial
in the Birchland Burial Park at Pearisburg, Va.
