SPIRIT LAKE, ID--Charles C. Alderman, age 77, formerly of Roscoe, IL,
and Albany, WI, died July 4, 2002, at the Deaconess Medical Center in Spokane,
Washington. Chuck married Helen Eleane Irish Sept. 13, 1944, in Galena,
IL. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force from May,
1943 until March, 1946. He was employed by the Herst Allen Corporation
of Chicago, IL. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses
in Rathdrum, ID and was devoted to his faith, dedicated to his wife of
58 years, and dearly loved by his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Eleane; 2 daughters, Charlene (Bill) Everhart
and Kari (Robert) Meyer of Rathdrum, ID; his 2 sons, Bill of Janesville
and Pat (Joan) of Orfordville; 2 brothers, Donald and Robert Alderman;
a sister, Lanore Jones; 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; many nieces
and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and 2 brothers, Mike (Ray)
and Richard Alderman.
A visitation will be held at 11 a.m., followed by the funeral service
at noon, on July 12, 2002, at the SHRINER-HAGER-GOHLKE FUNERAL HOME, 18th
Ave. and Mansion Drive, Monroe, WI. Burial will follow at the Hillcrest
Cemetery, Albany, WI.
Anderson, Daniel R.
November 17, 1962 - July 5, 2002
JANESVILLE--Daniel R. Anderson, age 39, of 2610 Citation Drive, Janesville,
died Friday morning, July 5, 2002, in the emergency department of Mercy
Hospital. Daniel was born in Viroqua, WI, on Nov. 17, 1962, the son of
Harold "Dewey" and Joann (Blaha) Anderson. He graduated from Parker High
School in 1981 and attended Northern Illinois University and UW-Whitewater.
Daniel married Mary Allen on July 1, 2000. He was employed for the past
4 years by Trek U.S.A. in Whitewater as a supervisor. Daniel was a member
of Beloit Moose Lodge #191 and was a H.O.G. member. He enjoyed riding his
Harley, hunting, fishing and working in his yard.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Anderson of Janesville; 2 children, Kristen
Anderson and Cody Anderson, both of Waunakee, WI; 2 stepchildren, Jessie
Hanan and Nickolas Hanan, both of Janesville; his parents, Harold "Dewey"
and Joann Anderson of Janesville; a sister, Deborah (Mark) Stanek of Janesville;
2 nieces, Shelby Stanek and Jolene Stanek; and a nephew, Jordan Stanek.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harold and Geraldine Anderson
and Agnes and William Blaha; and an aunt, Donna Overboe.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2002, at HENKE-CLARSON
FUNERAL HOME, 1010 N. Wright Road, Janesville, with Rev. Ann Spindt of
Asbury United Methodist Church officiating. Graveside services will be
at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Hillsboro, WI, with burial there

ELKHORN, WI--Gregory G. Anderson, age 42, of Bay Road, Elkhorn, WI,
died unexpectedly of an apparent heart attack Thursday, July 4, 2002. Greg
was born Jan. 27, 1960, in Elkhorn, WI, the son of Eugene T. and Ruby (Bulow)
Anderson. He married Kathleen S. Dewart on April 22, 1985, in Elkhorn,
WI. Greg was employed with Generac Corp. of Eagle, WI.
Greg is survived by his wife, Kathy; 2 sons; Eugene and Wayne Anderson,
both of Elkhorn, WI; his mother, Ruby Clark of Madison, WI; 2 brothers,
Tim Anderson of Milton, WI, and Robert Anderson of Lakewood, CO, and a
sister, Ruth Clark of Middleton, WI. He was preceded in death by a daughter,
Monica Lynn Anderson; his father; and his grandparents.

Babler, Evelyn E. "Evie"

JANESVILLE--Evelyn E. "Evie" Babler, age 69, a Janesville resident
for over 50 years, died Tuesday evening, July 30, 2002, at Rock Haven.
She was born in Argyle, WI, April 28, 1933, the daughter of the late John
and Alice (Rickli) Aeschlimann. On Oct. 18, 1952, in Monticello, WI, she
married Donald Babler; he died Feb. 22, 1979. A long-time member of First
Lutheran Church, Evie volunteered her time during the Rock County Fair,
working in the First Lutheran food tent for many years before her illness.
She also worked at the former Elliott's Clothing Store and Arts Food Store.
She and her sisters enjoyed singing together and even had a couple of records
She is survived by 3 children: Steve Babler of Iron River, MI, Janet
(Dean) Vanderlip of Fond du Lac, WI, and Matthew (Annette) Babler of Janesville;
5 grandchildren: Deena (Jack) Nett, Russell Vanderlip, Daniel, John and
Kelly Babler; 2 sisters, Hulda (Fritz) Rieder of Monticello, WI, and Pearl
Aeschlimann of Waunakee, WI; a brother, John (Phyllis) Aeschlimann of Albany,
WI; sisters and brothers-in-law: Bev and Darrell Hilliard of Monroe, WI,
Jean and Ronnie Shippy of Middleton, WI, and Al Babler of Aurora, IL; many
nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides her husband and parents,
she was also predeceased by her sister, Ruth Aeschlimann.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Sat., Aug. 3, 2002, at FIRST
LUTHERAN CHURCH, with Rev. James Melvin officiating. Burial will follow
at Milton Lawns Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Friday from 5 until

Baker, Mildred E.
May 5, 1923 - July 13, 2002
BURLINGTON, WI--Mildred E. Baker, age 79, died July 13, 2002, at St.
Lukes Medical Center, Milwaukee. She was born May 5, 1923, the daughter
of Howard and Helen (Hegemann) Gilson in Racine, WI, and grew up in the
town of Dover. Mildred graduated from Racine Co. Teacher's College and
taught in a one-room school for 6 years before she was married. She married
James Erling Baker June 12, 1948, at St. Thomas Aquinas, Waterford, WI;
he preceded her in death Feb. 5, 2000. She was a homemaker and actively
farmed with her husband and son, was a custodian at the Seymour High School,
and was an active volunteer at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in
Seymour, WI. They dairy farmed in Spring Prairie until 1977 and then DePere,
WI, until 1999. She was a member of the A.M.P.I., working with women on
dairy promotion, a member of the Walworth Co. Homemakers and the Seymour
Sugar & Spice Homemakers, a member of the Honey Creek Supper Club,
and St. Charles Catholic Church in Burlington. She lived in Burlington
for 4 years.
Surviving are her daughters, Joy Held and Julie Baker, both of Burlington,
WI; her son, Keith (Angela) Baker of Seymour, WI; a sister, Carol (Don)
Boettcher of Waterford, WI; a sister-in-law, Margaret Gessert of Madison,
WI; 7 grandchildren: Joanna (Brian) Wagner of Madison, Robb (Joy Focacci)
Held of Chandler, AZ, Brian Held of Burlington, John Held of Madison, Tina
(Joe) Wager-Smith II of Seymour, WI, Nathan Baker of Wauwatosa, WI, and
Tricia (Jason) Werner of Seymour, WI; and 3 great-grandchildren: Taylor
and Bailey Wager-Smith and Alex Pearce. She was preceded in death by her
parents; her husband; 2 sisters, Jean Gilson and Mary (Red) Faitinson;
and a brother-in-law, Don Gessert.

Bates, Wilma "Billie" Sara
January 29, 1915 - July 10, 2002
DELAVAN, WI--Wilma Gile Bates, age 87, of Vintage on the Ponds, Delavan,
died on July 10, 2002, at Williams Bay Care Center. She was born on Jan.
29, 1915, in Boone County, IL, daughter of Harry Gile and Hattie Mae Powers
Gile. She married Judson Bates and they lived in Harvard and Marengo, IL
before moving to Bonita Springs, FL. After his death, she moved to Delavan,
WI. During her lifetime she ran a pet shop in Harvard, IL and waited tables
at the Harvard Cafe and the Abbey Resort in Fontana, WI.
Survivors include a sister, Laverna Sissons of Bonita Springs, FL;
a brother, Frank Gile of Naples, FL; and many, many nieces, nephews and
great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; a brother,
Fred Gile; and 5 sisters: Norma, Iva, Orpha, Dorothea and Helen.
Billie has chosen to be cremated and buried at sea. A memorial service
is being planned at The Vintage on the Ponds in Delavan, WI, where she
will be missed very much by her many friends as well as her very large

CLINTON, WI--Patricia "Pat" Beals, age 53, died Sat., July 20, 2002,
in the Beloit Memorial Hospital after a long battle with cancer. Her family
was by her side. Pat was born in Edgerton, WI, March 23, 1949, the daughter
of Lloyd and Evelyn (McBride) Johns. She graduated from Clinton High School
in 1967. She also received a veterinary assistant certificate. She had
worked at SSI for the past ten years. She enjoyed riding her motorcycle
and working with her flowers, and most of all enjoyed being with her grandchildren.
Pat is survived by her mother, Evelyn (McBride) Johns of Clinton; a
very dear friend and companion, Raymond Buckingham of Clinton; 2 daughters,
Angela Elick (Darrel) and Heather (Ted) Easterday, both of Huntington,
IN; 8 grandchildren; a brother, William (Elaine) Johns of Clinton; 2 sisters,
Mary Lynn (Mike) Puckett of Beloit and Sue Diderich of Walworth; a special
friend, Sue Fisher; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her
father and grandparents.

in ST. STEPHEN'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, Clinton, with Fr. J. Thomas Fitzgerald

AURORA, IL--Rose M. Bilbao (Kempen), age 61, passed away unexpectedly
July 13, 2002, while vacationing with her family. She was taken to Mercy
Hospital in Janesville, WI, and went quietly to be with her Lord with her
entire family at her bedside. She was doing what she liked to do most;
being out close to nature and surrounded by her family and close friends.
She was born May 29, 1941, in Wisconsin Rapids, WI, the beloved daughter
of Lucille and Vincent Kempen. She was the wife of Mario Bilbao for 41
years and the best mother anyone could have ever been blessed with.
She leaves behind her 4 loving children: a son, Allan (Cindy) Balbao
of Rome, WI, and 3 daughters: Mary (Robert) Hartkopp and Terri (Wayne)
Blume, both of Oswego, and Julie (Gerard) Leganski of Darien, IL. As a
grandmother of 9 she will be greatly missed, as will her good heart and

JANESVILLE--Judith A. Bothun, age 57, 615 N. Pine St., died Friday
evening, July 26, 2002, following a long courageous battle with cancer.
Judith was born in Janesville Aug. 12, 1944, the daughter of Reinhard and
Anita (Bartz) Krause. She graduated from Janesville Senior High School
in 1963. Judith was married to James A. Bothun May 25, 1963, at Mt. Calvary
Lutheran Church. She was a lifelong member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church.
She was very active doing volunteer work for the elderly. Judith enjoyed
traveling, crafts, and especially spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are her husband, James A. Bothun; a daughter, Carrie (Ron)
Shelton; 3 grandchildren: Ryan, Samantha, and Christina Shelton; 2 sisters,
Marjorie Krause and Nancy (Al) Lembrich; sisters-in-law, Marlene Krause
and Jeanine (Marv) Schlicht; a brother-in-law, Bob (Judy) Bothun; all of
Janesville; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents,
Judith was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Krause; and a nephew
who was her godchild, Tom Krause.

JANESVILLE--Marion A. Bucholtz, age 92, of 2615 Vail Court, died Sun.,
July 28, 2002 at St. Elizabeth Nursing Home. She was born on Sept. 22,
1909, in Oshkosh, WI, the daughter of Richard and Margaret (McCaffrey)
Hammond. Marion has been a Janesville resident since 1936, moving here
from St. Paul, MN. She married Raymond A. Bucholtz on Oct. 27, 1934, in
Waupun, WI. Marion was employed at the Bostwick Store for 20 years. She
was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and its Altar Society. Marion
enjoyed sewing, knitting, and going to Janesville Cub games.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond; a daughter, Kathryn (Richard)
Hilt of Janesville; 3 sons: Bruce (Mary) Bucholtz of Whitewater, WI, Douglas
Bucholtz of Madison, WI, and Patrick (Patricia) Bucholtz of Edgerton, WI;
15 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death
by a sister, Margaret Berkley; and a brother, Bob Hammond.

JANESVILLE--Lester D. Burkett, age 25, of 806 Alpine Dr., died Sat.,
July 20, 2002, from the result of an automobile accident. He was born in
Janesville on Aug. 28, 1976, the son James and Norma (Garbe) Burkett. Lester
attended St. William Catholic School and Milton High School. He was employed
at various concrete contractors in the area as a concrete finisher and
loved to work on cars and trucks.
He is survived by his parents, Jim and Norma Burkett of Beloit; a brother,
Lonnie J. Burkett of Beloit; a grandmother, Marcella Garbe of Milton; numerous
aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by
his grandparents, Mary and Menzie Burkett and Paul Garbe.

EDGERTON--Mark A. Chekouras, age 53, of 210 Albion St., died Thurs.,
July 11, 2002, at home. He was born March 28, 1949, in Beloit, the son
of Dean Mark and Dorothy Jane (Dressel) Chekouras. Mark graduated in 1967
from Beloit Catholic High School and attended UW-Whitewater. Mark had worked
for various construction companies.

WHITEWATER/RACINE--Mary Christensen, age 86, of Whitewater and formerly
of Racine, died Sun., July 21, 2002, at the Glenn in Whitewater. She was
born on Sept. 8, 1915, in Nottingham, England. She married Alfred Christensen
on May 25, 1942, in Sutton Coldfield, England; he preceded her in death
on July 17, 1980. Mary came to the United States in June of 1946 and was
a 56-year member of the Cosmopolitan Club and the Trans-Atlantic Overseas
Brides Club of Kenosha.
She is survived by 2 sons, David Edward (Jackie) Christensen and Andrew
Scott (Mary Ellen) Christensen, both of Burlington; 2 daughters, Lucy Martine
(Jeff) Eysnogle of Whitewater and Saran Ann (Pat) McCarthy of Pittsburgh,
PA; 4 grandsons: Matthew Scott Christensen, Morgan Luke Christensen, Peter
Daniel Christensen and Edward Andrew Christensen; 3 granddaughters: Lindsay
Martine Eysnogle, Laura Ann Eysnogle, and Lianna Lynn Eysnogle; 2 great-granddaughters,
Anya Marie Christensen and Natalie Ellen Christensen; and a great-grandson,
Zachary Francisco Scott Christensen. She was preceded in death by her parents;
a son, Peter Christensen; and a brother, Dennis Edward Twohig.

was a resident. He was born on July 24, 1929, in Ventura, CA, the son of
Eber and Margaret (Wright) Crosby.
He is survived by a brother, Robert Crosby of Palmyra, WI; a sister-in-law,
Rose Mary Crosby of Delavan; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

McFARLAND, WI--Rosalie I. Crull, age 75, died Wed., July 31, 2002,
at St. Mary's Care Center in Madison, WI, after a long, courageous battle
with cancer. She was born on Sept. 16, 1926, in Beloit, WI, the daughter
of Charles and Gertrude (Hamilton) Miller. Rosalie married James Milton
Crull Dec. 17, 1944, in Little Rock, AR; he preceded her in death Jan.
20, 1996. She worked as an administrative secretary for both Rock and Dane
Counties. She loved attending picnics and all the friends at Williams Town
Bay apartments in McFarland.
Rosalie is survived by 3 sons: Gordon (Mary Baker) Crull of Albany,
WI, Bruce (Donna) Crull of Madison, WI, Greg (Linda) Crull of Albany, WI;
a daughter, Sandra (Paul) Crull-Deschand of West Bend, WI; a sister, Jean
Smith of Durand, IL; 3 grandchildren: Mike (Stephanie) Crull of Wisconsin
Dells, WI, Abbe (Matt Thompson) Crull of LaValle, WI, Erika Bradley of
West Bend, WI; and a great-grandson, Matthew James Crull. She was preceded

JANESVILLE-- Virginia L. Cunningham, age 73, of 208 S. Lexington Dr.,
died Fri., July 5, 2002, at her home. She was born in Janesville on Nov.
3, 1928, the daughter of Robert and Edna (Millis) Liddell. Virginia was
a graduate of Janesville High School and the Nursing School at Rush Hospital,
Chicago. She married David Cunningham on March 2, 1954, in Janesville.
She was a nurse, but also helped with the family bakery business. Virginia
was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church. She enjoyed golf, bridge

a brief battle with cancer. The youngest son of Mary (Tischendorf) and
Charles "Fritz" Dampier, Brad was born July 2, 1959, in Janesville, WI.
Brad grew up near Camp Rotamer, attending Milton area schools, graduating
from Milton High School in 1977. After a lengthy engagement, Brad and his
longtime sweetheart, the former Sherri Heth, were married May 1, 1988,
in Janesville, WI. Utilizing an incredible skill for fixing things, Brad
worked as a maintenance mechanic for 24 years at Morgan Corp. and part
time at United Alloy; briefly residing in Arizona, Texas and Pennsylvania
while working for Morgan Corp. His joyous laughter and bright smile were
never more contagious than when his beloved daughter, Cortney Lynn, was
born in 1992. A kid at heart, Brad loved sharing his gifts and exploring
the world with Cortney. Brad indulged his passion for collecting at swap
meets and flea markets; loved attending car shows; doing projects with
his friends; enjoyed camping with his family and spending time at the computer.
He was predeceased by his father, "Fritz" Dampier; and his sister-in-law,
Clarie Heth-Amundson. Brad is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by
his wife, Sherri, and daughter, Cortney, at home; his mother, Mary Dampier
of Janesville; his brothers, Charles "Chuck" Dampier Jr. of Janesville
and Rock Dampier of Hollywood, FL; his sisters, Jane Willman of Hendersonville,
NC and Sarah (Randy) Luebke of Janesville; his brothers-in-law, Darcie
Heth and Jeff Amundson; many nieces, nephews and friends. We love you Brad.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wed., July 10, 2002, at ALBRECHT
FUNERAL HOME, Hwy. 26, Milton, with Pastor James Melvin officiating. Visitation

Davis, Patricia Jean
January 20, 1936 - July 22, 2002
EAST TROY, WI--Patricia Jean Davis, of LaGrange Township, formerly
of Janesville and Waukesha, died Monday, July 22, 2002, at her home following
a long and courageous battle with cancer. Pat, as she liked to be called,
was born in Janesville on Jan. 20, 1936, the daughter of Melvin and Sylvia
(Fancher) Boos, where she spent her childhood. She married James Taafe
in 1958 and divorced in April, 1962. Patt married James E. David on Sept.
15, 1962. After attending Clerical School in Minneapolis, Patt was employed
as a secretary for Burlington railroad in Chicago. She then worked as a
secretary for Borg Equipment in Janesville. After her marriage, she was
a homemaker and raised her children. She and her family moved to Waukesha
in 1963 where her children received their early education. In October,
1972, the family moved to rural East Troy in LaGrange Township. Patt then
worked as secretary for Dreser Industries in Waukesha. Prior to her retirement,
Patt was a home caregiver for Lutheran Social Services of Lake Geneva.
Pat is survived by her husband, James; 4 children: Cynthia (Steven)
Luisi of Golden Valley, MN, Karen (John) Davis of St. Francis, WI, Anthony
(Lois) Davis of East Troy and Michael Davis of St. Francis, WI; 8 grandchildren:
Sarah, Kelly, Jim, Erin, Scott, Matt, Fallan and Katie; 2 sisters, Audrey
(Jack) Paul of Fairfield Glade, TN, and Vonnie (Vince) McKeown of Janesville;
many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in
death by her parents.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 26,
2002, at ST. MARY'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, Janesville with Fr. Stephen Umhoefer
officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call at
the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of Mass. SCHNEIDER

Dederich, Frank M.
August 20, 1923 - June 30, 2002
ARIZONA--Frank M. Dederich, D.P.M., 78, of Green Valley, AZ, and formerly
from Delavan and Racine, WI, died June 30, 2002. He was born Aug. 20, 1923,
son of Frank and Amanda (Briske) Dederich. A veteran of the U.S. Navy,
he served as a medic during World War II. He graduated from the Illinois
College of Podiatry in 1950 and practiced in Delavan, WI, for 40 years.
Frank married Hertha Zilke on Nov. 22, 1951. Throughout the years, Frank
was active in Boy Scouts, religious education and various ministries within
the Catholic Church. Upon moving to Green Valley in 1993, he and Hertha
became members of the Lutheran Church of the Risen Savior, where Frank
served on the Board of Trustees for several years. He enjoyed fishing,
curling with the Blackhawk Curling Club in Janesville and was a member
of a German men's chorus in Racine.
Frank is survived by his wife, Hertha; a son, Frank (Colleen) of Windsor,
WI; four daughters: Mary (Michael) McElligott of Greenfield, WI, Ellen
(Richard) Engebretsen of Janesville, WI, Claudia Grabow of Madison, WI,
and Amy (Jon) Morgan, of Madison, WI; 9 grandchildren; and sisters: Delores
Wozniecki of Racine, WI; Virginia Anderson of Abrams, WI; and Leona Culligan
of Sun City, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son,
John William; and sisters: Lucille Eckmann, Viola Morgenroth and Marjorie

Disch, Betty Jean
August 2, 1927 - July 21, 2002
MT. VERNON/VERONA--Betty Jean Disch, age 74, of Mt. Vernon, WI, passed
away Sun., July 21, 2002, at St. Mary's Care Center in Madison after a
long and courageous battle with cancer. The former Betty Jean Holcomb was
born Aug. 2, 1927, in Janesville, WI, to Forrest and Hattie (Gower) Holcomb.
She graduated from Janesville High School in 1945. She was employed by
the Janesville Telephone Company and Parker Pen before she was united in
marriage to the late Waldo "Duke" Disch on June 15, 1946. They lived in
Belleville, WI, and later moved to Mt. Vernon. They bought the Mt. Vernon
Mill in 1953 and operated it until 1978. In 1967, they purchased the Jack
Bischoff farm and converted the dairy barn into a hen laying operation
for 5,600 laying hens. In 1970, they built a bigger chicken house, which
housed 20,000 laying hens. In June, 1996, they celebrated their 50th wedding
anniversary. She enjoyed bowling and puzzles. She was a member of the Zwingli
United Church of Christ of Mt. Vernon and a member of the Royal Neighbors
Betty Jean is survived by her 7 children: Dennis (Phyllis) Disch of
Mt. Vernon, Cheryl Disch of Cambridge, Linda (Robert) Sies of Belleville,
Judy (Dave) Ross of Mt. Vernon, Debra (Curt) Herfel of Verona, Terry (Melody)
Disch of Mt. Horeb, Deanna (Bob) Prochaska of Blue Mounds; 17 grandchildren;
5 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law, Betty Jane Disch of Verona and
Charlotte Holcomb of Janesville; many nieces; nephews; and friends. She
was preceded in death by her husband, Duke; her mother and father; and
her 2 brothers.

Dittmer, Nora Mathilda
January 29, 1906 - July 12, 2002
EITZEN, MN/JANESVILLE--Nora Mathilda Dittmer, age 96, passed away at
the Bethany-Riverside Nursing Facility of La Crosse, WI, on July 12, 2002.
She was born to Adolph and Nicolena (Nelson) Nelson on Jan. 29, 1906, in
Mathew, SD. Nora grew up in Timberland, WI, and graduated from Cumberland
(WI) High School in 1924. She moved to Janesville in 1927 to work as a
bookkeeper at General Motors. While she interrupted her career there for
several years to rear their daughter, she returned to GM in 1957 and worked
until her retirement in 1970. Nora married Clarence Dittmer on June 18,
1938, at First Lutheran Church in Janesville. She has been a member of
First Lutheran Church for 75 years and was actively involved in many church
activities for 67 years, until she and Clarence moved to Eitzen, MN, in
Nora is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Gloria and Richard
Faivre of Eitzen, MN; by 4 granddaughters: Lynn (Ken) Schulte of La Crescent,
MN, Kim Faivre of Eitzen, MN, and Nancy and Jane Faivre of La Crosse, WI;
and 2 great-grandsons, Mitchell and Bradley Schulte of La Crescent, MN.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Clarence Dittmer;
by her brother, Roy Nelson; and by her 4 sisters: Lillian Nelson, Edna
Carlson, Clara Dittmer and Mabel Forslund.
Services for Nora will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wed., July 17, 2002 at FIRST
LUTHERAN CHURCH, 612 N. Randall Ave., Janesville. Visitation will be on

November 12, 1913 - July 28, 2002
JANESVILLE--Harry J. Ehlers, age 88, passed away peacefully early Sunday
morning, July 28, 2002, at his home. He was born Nov. 12, 1913, in Ft.
Atkinson, WI, the son of the late Henry and Margaret (Forrest) Ehlers.
On April 27, 1946, he married Norma H. Wenzel in Hanover, WI; she preceded
him in death Oct. 10, 1985. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving
his country during World War II in the Pacific Theatre of Operations. At
the time of his discharge, he had attained the rank of Sergeant. Before
his military service, he worked for several years with the Chicago and
Northwestern Railroad. After his discharge he returned to this area and
was employed at Highway Trailer Co. He then started working as a letter
carrier for the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement in 1975. Harry
was a man of many talents! He very much enjoyed carpentry, and loved being
able to help his family and friends with projects around their homes! He
also enjoyed gardening, bird-watching, and stargazing. He loved camping
and spending time outdoors! He was a longtime member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran

Jeanette (William) Spence of Camden, SC, Gloria (William) Bassett of Beloit,
WI, RaNae (Michael) Jewell of River Falls, WI, Timothy (Sue) Ehlers and
Darlene (Dennis) Heider, both of Janesville; 2 sisters, Margaret Garst
of Janesville and Evelyn Zebell of West Bend, WI; his 12 grandchildren:
Melisa and Forrest Spence, Matthew (Jodi), Emily, and Abbey Jewell, Jennifer,
Michael, and Christopher Ehlers, and Michelle, Jacob, Nathan, and Caitlin
Heider; many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his wife and
parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Charles Ehlers and Richard
Ehlers; a sister, Virginia Wirkus; and a granddaughter, Hannah Jewell.

ELKHORN--Abner G. Ehrhardt, age 103, of N7043 Sycamore Lane, Elkhorn,
died Sat., July 13, 2002, at Willowfield Nursing Home, Delavan. He was
born Dec. 13, 1898, in Chicago, IL, the son of George and Pauline (Spielvogel)
Ehrhardt. Abner married Florence M. Krause Sept. 1, 1932, in Chicago, IL.
Florence died March 28, 1999. Abner was employed with Western Electric
Co. as an industrial engineer for over 45 years, retiring in 1963. He was
a former Mason and Shriner and a member of the Telephone Pioneers.
He is survived by his daughter, Mary Jane (James) Parchem of Elkhorn;
5 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by
his wife, Florence; a son, William Richard; 3 brothers: Earle, Herman,
and Walter; and a sister, Nina.
Funeral services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wed., July 17, 2002, at
HAASE-DERRICK-LOCKWOOD FUNERAL HOME, 730 N. Wisconsin St., Elkhorn. Burial
will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Tibbets, WI. Visitation
will be at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2 p.m. until time of services.
