Maria Antich passed away September 26, 1999, after a long illness. Her remains lie at Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave. She is survived by her son, Joseph; daughter-in-law Patricia; grandsons , Edward and Joseph Jr.; granddaughter-in-law, Ellen; three great-grandsons. Charles Henry Barley of South Richmond, departed this life September 26, 1999. He is survived by his devoted wife, Geraldine W. Barley; devoted son and daughter-in-law, Carlton W. and Sheila J. Barley ; two daughters, Sandra D. Barley and Belinda Lewis; two grandchildren, Alanza D. Jones and Aaron D. Elsie H. Batkins, 89, widow of Nathan S. Batkins died Monday, September 27, 1999. She was a member of Carlisle Avenue Baptist Church. She is survived by her sister, Blanche H. Luck of Montpelier, V a.; nephews, Terry L. Eacho of Richmond, Albert B. Eacho of Darlington, Md. and Thomas W. Eacho of Frederica, Del.; nieces, Helen Luck of Montpelier, Connie L. Stone of Glen Allen and Phyllis Terrell of Mechanicsville; a host of nieces, nephews, devoted neighbors and friends. Sincere gratitude is extended to Mildred Jones and Phyllis Terrell for providing much needed care during her extended illness. Her remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. Llewellyn Haynic Bradshaw, 76, of Burgess died September 25, 1999. Marjorie "Pat" Edwards, age 75, of Aiken, S.C. died August 29, 1999 after a lengthy illness. A memorial service was held September 2, 1999 in Aiken, S.C. Burial was private. Mrs. Edwards was a ret ired Industrial Nurse for Stone and Webster Engineering Corporation of Boston. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Charles Lee Edwards, Sr., former teacher & principal at Louisa High School, Louisa, Va. Survivors include a daughter, Cheri Wheelon of Aiken, S.C.; two sons, Charles Lee Edwards, Jr. of Savannah, Ga. and Steve Edwards of Aiken, S.C.; nine grandchildren. GLASS
Mabel Lee Moles Glass of Richmond died September 27, 1999. She was the widow of Bernard W. Glass, former Director of Public Welfare for the City of Richmond. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Ernest T. (Hazel) Robertson; foster sister, Mrs. William H. (Eunice) Bowles Jr., both of Richmond; niece, Mrs. Richard R. (Corrienne) Lundbergh of Muncie, Ind.; two nephews, Robert F. Williams of St. Simons Island, Ga. and J. C. Williams of Mechanicsville; also her surrogate family, the Daniel J. D’Amato family of Richmond. Mrs. Glass was a long time communicate of Seventh Street Christian Church, a former President of the Inter-Faith Council of Richmond Area Church Women, a member of the Church Women United and Richmond Chaplaincy Board. She was among the founders and for many years coordinator of Senior/ Adult Fellowship of Seventh Street Christian Church, a member of the Museum of the Confederacy, former President of Richmond-Stonewall Jackson Chapter United Daughters of the Confederacy, active member of the SPCA and a former member of the Henrico Historical Society. The family will receive friends Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 Parham Road. Funeral services will be held Wednesday 2 p.m. at Seventh Street Christian Church, corner of Malvern and Grove Avenue. Interment Oakwood Cemetery. Molly Elizabeth Hetrick, of Richmond, Va., died Saturday, September 25, 1999. She is survived by two daughters, Amy Willis Gammon and Amanda Stevenson; her mother, Dorothy Kuske; five brothers, Gr eg of Tennessee, Brad, Jeff and Matt of Ruther Glen, and Sam Kuske of Richmond; five sisters, Barbara Lund of Minnesota, Rita Satterwhite and Lesley Thomas, both of Ruther Glen, Mona Saulnier of Pennsylvania, and Audrey Harris of Ashland. Edwin Trammell Holland, age 97, of Kilmarnock, Va., founder and chairman emeritus of First Virginia Bank died Sunday, September 26, 1999. He is survived by his beloved wife, Enid M. Holland; four c hildren, Sallie H. Corish, Arlington, Va., Virginia H. Brown, McLean and White Stone, Va., Edward M. Holland, Arlington, Va. and C. Lynn Holland, Kilmarnock, Va.; a sister, VaDare H. Buck, Fairfax, Va.; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Remains rest at the Currie Funeral Home, Kilmarnock, Va., where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral service private. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 23, 1999 at a place and time to be announced.

LOBA
Raymond F. Loba, a lifelong businessman, died Saturday, September 25, 1999 after a short illness. The Detroit native grew up on a farm in nearby St. Clair County, and went into the tire business in 195 5 in Pontiac, Mich. He semi-retired and moved his family to Crozet in 1976. He later relocated to the Richmond area operating James River Tire for several years. Mr. Loba was a decorated Naval veteran, who served aboard the Battleship Washington in the Pacific during WW II and also saw action in Korea, landing United Nations troops at Inchon. He is survived by his wife, Betty Lou Oke Loba of Richmond; daughter, Susan Loba Dorn and husband, Terrell of Midlothian; two sons, James Raymond Loba of Richmond, and Dennis Raymond Loba and wife, Donna of Orlean, Va.; grandchildren, Matthew, Jason and Elizabeth Dorn, Melanie and Grace Loba. A memorial service will be held at the West End Assembly of God, Parham Rd., Richmond, 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 28th. 

MARKERT
Margaret "Nina" Markert, 54, of Sandston, died September 26, 1999. She is survived by her husband, Robert Markert; two daughters, Anna Markert and Susan Wheatley and husband, Phillip; seven grandchil dren, Aarin, Kayla, Alex, Jaycee, Shyla, Bryson and Braden; three sisters; one brother; several aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. Virginia Hamilton Messick, age 92, of Irvington, Va., died Sunday, September 26, 1999. She is survived by a son, Robert H. Messick and his wife, Nancy, Richmond, Va.; a daughter, Betty M. Cannon and her husband, James, Lexington, N.C.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. John Boone Purser, 44 years old, passed away Saturday evening, September 25, 1999. He was the son of the late Lat and Ruth Purser of Charlotte, N.C. He is survived by his daughter, Claren Taylor Purse r; his once wife and forever friend, Anne Coleman Purser; his brother and sister-in-law, Lat and Kathy Purser; two nephews, Lat and Adam Purser of Charlotte, N.C.; and many friends. The family will receive friends at the Woody Funeral Home, 1020 Huguenot Rd., Tuesday evening, September 28 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Bon Air Christian Church, 2071 Buford Rd. on Wednesday, September 29 at 2 p.m. followed by a graveside service at Dale Memorial Park. ROGERS
John Thad Rogers, 88, of Pinetree Road, Hopewell, died Sunday, September 26, 1999 in the Hopewell Convalescent Center. He was born in Franklin, North Carolina and was a resident of Hopewell since 1930 . Mr. Rogers was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of First United Methodist Church, and a retired owner of Rogers Service Station. He was the son of the late James S. and Oma Fisher Rogers. Surviving are his wife, Ethel Burnett Rogers of Hopewell; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy Rogers and David L. Rae of Charlottesville; three grandchildren, Jennifer R. Pierpont and husband, David of Alexandria, Deborah C. Rae and Leigha D. Rae, both of Charlottesville; and a sister, Helen Rogers of Washington, D.C. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 29, 1999 at 2 p.m. at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Elsie Baker Rusak of Highland Springs the widow of Walter J. Rusak passed away Monday, September 27, 1999. She is survived by her son, Dennis Reed Rusak of Highland Springs; two sisters, Doris King o f Richmond and Lucy Sullivan of Highland Springs; a grandson, Reed Rusak of Richmond. Mrs. Rusak retired from Philip Morris after 46 years of service. The family will receive friends at the Laburnum Chapel Woody Funeral Home, 2110 East Laburnum Ave. on Tuesday (today). A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday in Washington Memorial Park.

Mrs. Bessie T. Shockley, age 95 died Saturday, September 25, 1999 in Farmville the widow of W. L. Shockley Sr. She is survived by two daughters; two sons; six sisters; eleven grandchildren; 21 gre at-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild. Charles R. (Rudy) Smith Sr., age 72, went to be with the Lord Sunday, September 26, 1999. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 52 years, Ruby F. Smith; his daughter, Patsy and her husband, Bill Bargo; his son, Chuck (Charles R. Jr.) and his wife, Dawn; two grandsons, Ryan and Alex Smith; three sisters, Mrs. Sarah Elmore, Mrs. Sue Bazaco and Mrs. Elizabeth Galloway; one brother, James F. Smith; and a host of loving nieces, nephews and friends. Rudy was a member of Webber Memorial Baptist Church and was retired from Pepsi Cola Bottling Company after 40 years of loyal service. His remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Home’s Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull St. Rd., where the family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m., and where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday with interment in Dale Memorial Park. Inez McGhee Williamson, 87, of Richmond went to her eternal home Saturday, September 25, 1999 at Retreat Hospital. She is survived by her brother, Linwood W. McGhee of Mechanicsville. Mrs. Willi amson was a lifetime member of Oak Hall Baptist Church which was co-founded by her parents, the late Archer and Sarah McGhee. Remains rest at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 4650 S. On Friday, September 24, 1999, Oliver Glenn Wright Sr., affectionately known as "OG", answered God’s call and moved from this rough side of the mountain to a lovely pasture of tranquility and harmony, a place where there is surely no more pain, suffering of tears. Born February 4, 1962, to the late Robert Wright Jr. and Almetter Wright Stallings. He is survived by his devoted wife, Annette T. Wright; two sons, Andrew and Oliver; one daughter, Shante; his mother, Almetter W. Stallings; stepfather, Hailoves Stallings; five sisters, Vernice W. Cain, Donnee W. Taylor, Iris W. Hopson, Antoinette W. Releford and Barbara Turnage; one brother, Robert Wright III; six brothers-in-law; five sisters-in-law; six aunts; two uncles; three nephews; four nieces; other relatives and friends.
