Miscellaneous Virginia Obituaries

Mrs. Della Jane Blevins, 74, died Thursday in a hospital in Portsmouth, Va., where she had been residing with a daughter, Mrs. Bertha Hill.   Mrs. Blevins was the widow of S. J. Blevins who preceded her in death about a year ago.  She was born in Sturgill, N.C.   Survivors include eight other daughters:  Mrs. William Gentle, Duhring, Mrs. *Lilly* Sturms, Montcalm, Mrs. Seibert Dalton and Mrs. Haywood Slone, of Jacksonville, Fla., Mrs. Roscoe Taylor, Elyria, Ohio, Mrs. Jack Redmond, Danville, Va., Mrs. J. J. Johnson, North Tazewell, Va., and Mrs. Elmer Garrison of Orlando, Fla.;  a son, Oscar Blevins of the Lorton Lick Road; 24 grandchildren, and 31 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Dora Patterson, Goodwill, and Mrs. Elmer Staton of Mullens; and two brothers, Smith Jones, Duhring, and Oscar Jones of Charleston.
Funeral rites will be today at the Pine Grove Church of Christ on Lorton Lick Road at 2 p.m. with interment to be made in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Cravens Funeral Home has charge of  the arrangements.

Death of a Virginia Lady in Alabama.
WYTHEVILLE, VA., May 31.-Mrs. Virginia Preston Means, sister of Mr. James Preston, of Wytheville, died in Birmingham, Ala., last night. The remains will be brought to Virginia and interred at the old Preston homestead, "Smithfield," near Blacksburg, Thursday. The deceased was 65 yrears old, and leaves two grown sons. She was a daughter of the late Robert T. Preston, of Montgomery county.
