Marthamae J. Baldwin
CHESAPEAKE -- Marthamae Jones Baldwin of the 3200 block of Cricket Lane, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2000, in Maryview Medical Center.

Mrs. Baldwin was the widow of Asa Watt Baldwin Jr. She was the daughter of the late John Wesley Jones and the late Helen Bailey Jones. She was 77 and a lifelong resident of Norfolk until she moved to Chesapeake 10 years ago. She graduated from Maury High School.

She was a lifelong, active member of First Lutheran Church. She worked for more than 30 years with the law firm of Kellam, Pickrell, Cox and Tayloe. Mrs. Baldwin was a member of Pilot Club International, Norfolk Chapter.

She is survived by three children, Asa Watt Baldwin III of Midlothian, Va., Jan Baldwin Faircloth and Kathy Baldwin Elliott of Chesapeake; six grandchildren, John Eliot Asa Faircloth of Chesapeake, Amy Elizabeth Baldwin of Alexandria, Mary Beth Baldwin and Virginia Baldwin Elliott of Norfolk, Ryan Wesley Baldwin and Joshua Asa Baldwin of Midlothian; a sister-in-law, Thelma Rock; and numerous loving nieces and nephews of her late husband.

A church service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church, 1301 Colley Ave., Norfolk, by Pastor Judith A. Cobb. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to First Lutheran Church. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Colonial Avenue Chapel, is handling arrangements.

William M. Bass
CHESAPEAKE -- William Michael Bass, 58, died Jan. 29, 2000.

Mr. Bass was a native of Portsmouth and the son of the late Vollie and Eleanor Keaton. He retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a woodcrafter after 20 years.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia T. Bass; three daughters, Diane Hobbs of Chesapeake, Vickie Shelton of Virginia Beach and Cassandra Williamson of Windsor; two sons, Kenneth Green of Chesapeake and Travis Bass of Portsmouth; one sister, Delma Hayes of Coral Springs, Fla.; one brother, James Bass of South Mills, N.C.; and seven grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. G.W. Harley. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and also at 2316 Meiggs Road, Chesapeake. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Florence H. Gosnell
CHESAPEAKE -- Florence Hicks Gosnell, 82, died Jan. 30, 2000, at Chesapeake General Hospital.

Mrs. Gosnell was born in Parsons County, N.C., to the late Jesse and Laura Hicks.

She is survived by two sons, Earl Applin of Chesapeake and Floyd Gosnell Jr. of Gibbs Woods, N.C.; three daughters, Wanda Jackson of Gibbs Woods, Esther Norman of Chesapeake and Betty O'Neal of Moyock, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at Chesapeake Memorial Gardens at 2 p.m. Tuesday. The family will receive friends at Twiford's Colonial Chapel, Great Bridge, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today.

CHESAPEAKE -- Lesta Lloyd Hogan, 94, of the 400 block of Johnstown Road, died Jan. 25, 2000, at Chesapeake General Hospital.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in the Chapel of Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge, with the Rev. Tom Mercer officiating. Interment will be at Chesapeake Memorial Gardens.

CHESAPEAKE -- Gary Allen Lee, 51, of the 2700 block of George Drive, died Jan. 30, 2000, in his residence.

Mr. Lee was born in Detroit, Mich. He was a retired electrician from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard maintenance department.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Jo Lee; a daughter, Kristin Lee of Suffolk; a stepdaughter, Jan McFadden of Chesapeake; two sons, Michael Lee and Joseph Lee, both of Suffolk; his mother, Shirley Cardinal of Boston, Mass.; his father, Claude Lee and his wife, Lois, of Hilham, Tenn.; three brothers, Robert Lee and his wife, Linda, of Boston, Brian Cardinal and his wife, Tina, of Dearborn, Mich., and Edward Cardinal and his wife, Kathy, of Taylor, Mich.; and many nieces, nephews and other family members.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Snellings Funeral Home, George Washington Highway Chapel. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday.

CHESAPEAKE -- Constance ``Connie'' Duval Pendelton, 67, died at her residence.

CHESAPEAKE -- Gertrude M. Pledger, 83, died Jan. 29, 2000.

She was born in Portsmouth and was the widow of Elmer G. Pledger. She was a member of Great Bridge Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Ann P. Creekmore and her husband, Marvin A. Creekmore, of Chesapeake and Jane P. Favinger and her husband, Dean Favinger, of Portsmouth; local grandsons, Mark Creekmore and his wife, Christi, and Derek Creekmore; out-of-town grandchildren, Wes, Richard, Derek, Georgianna, Linda, Cindy, Maria and Tammy; and 17 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Rosewood Memorial Park by the Rev. Jan Amaimo Davis. The family will be at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

CHESAPEAKE -- Stella Marie White, 89, of the 200 block of River Road, Edenton, N.C., died Jan. 28, 2000, in Hertford, N.C.

Lillie P. Comstock
NORFOLK -- Lillie Pearl Comstock, 74, of Courage Street in Fort Valley, Ga., and a longtime resident of Norfolk, died Jan. 29, 2000, in a local hospital.

She was born in Talladega, Ala., and was the widow of William Miles Comstock Jr. She was a member of Christ Sanctified Holy Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Margaret A. Lucas of Lynchburg, Va., and Judy H. ``Susie'' Wright of Raleigh, N.C.; two sons, Johnny M. Comstock of Chesapeake and Terry L. Comstock of Norfolk; a brother, J.W. Dempsey of Evans, Ga.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Christ Sanctified Holy Church Cemetery, Perry, Ga. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today and also at the Camp Ground Chapel in Perry, Ga., from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Mary T. Davis
NORFOLK -- Mary Lynn Trent Davis, 60, of the 8400 block of Chesapeake Blvd., passed away in a local hospital on Jan. 30, 2000.

Born in Maryville, Tenn., she was a very devoted parking supervisor at Norfolk International Airport. She was affiliated with Church of God of Prophecy in Virginia Beach. She was a proud collector of Beanie Babies and was always willing to help anyone in need.

A loving wife and mother, she will be sadly missed by her husband, Roy Ernest Davis Sr.; one son, Ernie Davis and his wife, Tammy, of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Shirley Heath of Norfolk and Brenda Harrell of Virginia Beach; one brother, Marvin Trent of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. She will be remembered for her loving and unselfish ways.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, by the Rev. Gayle Harris. Burial will follow in Rosewood Memorial Park, Virginia Beach. Friends may join the family at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Fannie R. Hardy
NORFOLK -- Fannie Rose Hardy, 95, of the 2800 block of Beachmont Ave., died Jan. 27, 2000, at Harbour Pointe Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Hardy was a native of Norfolk and the widow of Ulysses Hardy. She was a member of First Baptist Church Bute Street.

She is survived by loving family and friends.

A funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church Bute Street by Dr. Robert G. Murray, Pastor. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Hale Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

James W. Harrison Jr.
NORFOLK -- James Walter Harrison Jr., 83, died peacefully in his sleep Jan. 30, 2000, having spent the past four years of his life at the Hampton Veterans Administration Hospital.

He was a native of Norfolk, the son of the late James W. Harrison Sr. and Mary Holland Harrison. Born July 8, 1916, in Norfolk, ``Jimmie'' graduated from Maury High School in 1933, was a World War II Navy veteran and had retired from Pure Oil Co. He was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Advent and had been an active Ham radio operator, whose call sign was N4NV.

Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Jean Berard Harrison; two sons, James W. Harrison III of Germany and Dr. Berard Harrison of Virginia Beach; three grandchildren, K.C. Harrison, Esq. of Virginia Beach, Andrea Harrison Foster of Edison, N.J., and Blain C. Harrison of Virginia Beach.

A memorial service is tentatively scheduled to be held at Episcopal Church of the Advent on Saturday. Mr. Harrison donated his body to science.

Una C. Riddick
NORFOLK -- Una Christine ``Teenie'' Riddick, 83, of the 300 block of Dorwin Drive, died Jan. 30, 2000, in a Virginia Beach nursing home.

Born in Cherry, N.C., Mrs. Riddick, was the daughter of the late Joseph and Ethel Davenport Basnight. She was the widow of Joseph W. Riddick. Mrs. Riddick was the previous owner of Fantasy and Fashionaire Beauty Salons.

Survivors include her son, Jeryl W. Riddick Sr., and his wife, Harriett, of Norfolk; two brothers, Cassell Basnight and his wife, Kaye, of Chesapeake and J.B. Basnight and his wife, Mickie, of Virginia Beach; her sister, Betty Jean Alley of Chesapeake; her grandson, Jeryl W. Riddick Jr. of Norfolk, and her granddaughter, Stacy Justine Riddick of Chesapeake.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Tom Mercer. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge.

Marjorie E. Byrd
PORTSMOUTH -- Marjorie Ewell Byrd, 86, died Jan. 29, 2000, in Norfolk.

She was a native of Portsmouth and the widow of Robert E. Byrd Sr. Mrs. Byrd had retired from Byrd Food Center, Portsmouth, and was a member of Port Norfolk Baptist Church.

She is survived by her son, Robert E. Byrd Jr. of Portsmouth; her sister, Elaine Rothermel of Oxford, Calif.; two grandchildren, Rebel Lee Byrd and Denise Byrd Lease; and three great-grandsons.

George L. Garris Sr.
PORTSMOUTH -- George Lee Garris Sr., 71, of the 3300 block of Dartmouth St., died Jan. 29, 2000, in his home.

Mr. Garris was a native of Portsmouth and had retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was a member of Fairview Heights Baptist Church and an Army veteran. He was currently working as a greeter at Wal-Mart.

He is survived by his wife, Betty K. Garris; two daughters, Edith Barger of Salisbury, Md., and Sharon Strother of Portsmouth; two sons, George L. Garris Jr. and Thomas P. Garris, both of Portsmouth; one sister, Helen Weaser of Chesapeake; one brother, Robert L. Garris of Chesapeake; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Albert T. Howard
PORTSMOUTH -- Albert Thomas Howard, 55, of the 400 block of Beacon Road, died Jan. 29, 2000, in his home.

Mr. Howard was a native of Portsmouth and a maintenance mechanic for Box USA. He was a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam.

He is survived by two stepdaughters; one stepson; three sisters, Jane Howard Coffield of Portsmouth, Joanne H. Roper of Chesapeake and Darlene H. Tester of Portsmouth; one brother, Bobby Howard of Chesapeake; a special niece, Angela Schleeper of Portsmouth; a special nephew, Michael Tester of Richmond; and two stepgrandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Glenn Howard.

Barbara J. Ricks

PORTSMOUTH -- Barbara J. ``Barbara Jean'' Ricks, 58, of the 1200 block of Florida Ave., died Jan. 29, 2000, in Maryview Medical Center.

She was born in Windsor, N.C., and was employed with John Tyler Elementary School. She was a member of Mount Nebo RZUA Church and the church choir.

Survivors include two sons, Alonzo ``Bobo'' Ricks and Thomas ``Butchie'' Ricks; her mother, Sallie Lee; a sister, Doris Turner; a brother, William D. Lee Jr.; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; four aunts; two uncles; a special friend, Earnest Donald Carraway; and other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Wednesday in Mount Nebo RZUA Church, Portsmouth, by Dr. Calvin Merritt. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. Fisher Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Claibon J. Wilkins
PORTSMOUTH -- Claibon J. Wilkins, 88, formerly of the 1200 block of Lindsay Ave., died Jan. 29, 2000, in Maryview Medical Center.

He was a native of Portsmouth and the widower of Almeda C. Wilkins. He had retired after 45 years from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a rigger, and after eight years from the Portsmouth public school system as a school bus driver. Mr. Wilkins was a member, usher, senior choir member and he drove the church van for a number of years for Zion Bethel United Church of Christ. He was a member of the Senior Citizens Fellowship Group.

He is survived by two daughters, Lydia Burkett of Chesapeake and Celia W. Moore of Suffolk; one son, William E. Scales of Portsmouth; eight grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. He was predeceased by two sons, Louis T. Wilkins and James Wilkins.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Tuesday at Zion Bethel United Church of Christ by the Rev. D.A. Peace. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at noon today. The family will be at the home of his daughter, 4516 Ellington Ave., Suffolk, and will assemble there for the funeral procession to the church. The body will be taken to the church at 11 a.m. Tuesday.

Luther L. Foxwell
VIRGINIA BEACH -- Luther Lionel Foxwell, 80, of the 1100 block of Old Kempsville Road, passed away in his residence Jan. 30, 2000.

Born in Norfolk, Mr. Foxwell was a retired supervisor at Ford Motor Company with 35 years of service. An avid gardener, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and attended Gateway Freewill Baptist Church in Virginia Beach.

He will be sadly missed by three daughters, Kay F. Watson and husband, David, of Chesapeake, Elaine F. Moore, also of Chesapeake, and Janet F. Emory and husband, Tom, of Virginia Beach; one son, Lonnie L. Foxwell and fiancee, Terry Bailey, of Virginia Beach; one stepson, Johnny Hall and wife, Naona, of Chesapeake; grandchildren, Tracy Leigh, Debbie Powell, Grayson Pearce Jr., Pamela Watson and Phillip Emory; and three great-grandchildren, Courtney, Taylor and Grayson.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, by the Rev. Dale Burden. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk. Friends may join the family at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

VIRGINIA BEACH -- Elsie Gaudio, 97, of Rookery Way and Bayside Healthcare Center, died Jan. 26, 2000. A mass will be at 5 p.m. today at the Church of the Holy Family.

William J. Kiff
VIRGINIA BEACH -- William ``Bill'' Joseph Kiff, 72, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000, at Camelot Nursing Facility.

Mr. Kiff was born in Virginia Beach and worked for the Virginia Beach Department of Transportation for 37 years. He worked for Salmons Hog farm for 10 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna ``Kissie'' Davis Kiff.

Mr. Kiff is survived by two daughters, Becky Smith and Karen Traino of Virginia Beach; two sons, Frank Smith and Paul Smith of Virginia Beach; five grandchildren, Paul, Kari and Melissa Smith of Virginia Beach and Kandice and David Traino of Virginia Beach.

A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Twiford's Colonial Chapel, Great Bridge. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Eastern Area Office, 2730 Ellsmere Ave., Norfolk, VA 23513.

VIRGINIA BEACH -- Essie Hazel Linkenhoker, 90, of Heritage Hall, died Jan. 29, 2000, in her residence.

Born in Pike County, Ky., she was the widow of George R. Linkenhoker and a member of Temple Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, David H. Smith of Virginia Beach and Donald H. Smith of Windham, Ohio; a brother, Boyd Gillman of Cincinnati, Ohio; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Vernon Smith.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Snellings Funeral Home, George Washington Highway Chapel, by the Rev. Allen Dooley of Temple Baptist Church. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Betty Jean Simmers
VIRGINIA BEACH -- Betty Jean Simmers, 64, passed away Jan. 29, 2000.

Mrs. Simmers was a resident of the Virginia Beach area for most of her life. She was married to the late Charles William Simmers Sr. She was a loving mother, sister and grandmother, who will be deeply missed.

Survivors include two sons, Charles W. Simmers and James Daniel Simmers, both of Virginia Beach; two daughters, Linda Marie Luke of Suffolk and Donna Anne Culbertson of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Mae Edwards and Pat Edwards, both of Princeton, N.C.; and six grandchildren, Cortnie, Katie, Tamara, Jamie, Michael and J.D.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Kellum Funeral Home, Bonney Road Chapel. All other services will be private.

Margaret C. Stevens

VIRGINIA BEACH -- Margaret C. ``Penny'' Stevens, 77, died Jan. 28, 2000, at a local hospital.

Mrs. Stevens, a native of Chester, Pa., was a Navy veteran of World War II. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert H. Stevens.

Survivors include a daughter, Jacquelyn A. Stevens of Virginia Beach; four sons, Robert H. Stevens II of Suffolk, Gregory J. Stevens of Charlottesville, Bryan D. Stevens and Mark A. Stevens, both of Virginia Beach; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A memorial mass will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Interment will follow in Hampton National Cemetery. Affordable Funeral Service is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer and/or Kidney foundations.

VIRGINIA BEACH -- Susi Snider, 57, of the 3800 block of Liberty Ridge Road, died Jan. 29, 2000, in a local hospital.

She was born in Stuttgart, West Germany, and was retired.

Survivors include her husband, Karl L. Snider; two daughters, Susy Pita and her husband, Albert, of Key West, Fla., and Chrisi Norton and her husband, Mike, of Camp LeJeune, N.C.; three sons, Audie Coppersmith, Mike Coppersmith and Steve Coppersmith, all of West Palm Beach, Fla.; five grandchildren; and her kitty, Rustie.

SUFFOLK -- Louise Elizabeth Baines, 85, of Carolina Road, died Jan. 29, 2000.

Born Oct. 18, 1914, in Nansemond County, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Alma L. Griffin Briggs and widow of Judson Paul Baines Sr. Mrs. Baines was a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughters, Elizabeth Duvall of Churchland and Yvonne VanTassel of Stafford; a son, Paul Baines of Chesapeake; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

BRANCHVILLE -- Hazel Joyner Darden, 73, died Jan. 29, 2000.

Born in Nansemond County, she was a daughter of the late S.L. Joyner Sr. and Lucy Mae Lowe Joyner and the widow of Harvey James Darden Jr. Mrs. Darden was a former purchasing agent for Hercules Inc., and a member of Branchville United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda Darden Hedgepeth and her husband, Bob, of Norfolk; a son, Dennis W. Darden and his wife, Tammy, of Branchville; two sisters, Julia J. Carr of Carrsville and Kitty Slaton of Henrico, N.C.; a brother, S.L. ``Buck'' Joyner Jr. of Franklin; four grandchildren, Anne-Nicole Hedgepeth, Leigh Catherine Hedgepeth, Casey Jeanette Darden and Travis Reed Darden. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Lori-Elizabeth Hedgepeth.

ELBERON -- Lucy Belle Seward Gwaltney, 85, died Jan. 29, 2000.

Mrs. Gwaltney, a native of Surry, was a homemaker and a member of Moore's Swamp Baptist Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Juanita Gwaltney Jones of Smithfield, Emma Gwaltney Lawson of Burlington, N.C., and Marilyn Gwaltney Myers of Blacksburg; two sons, G. Tucker Gwaltney of Elberon and James Mowry Gwaltney of Niceville, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Moore's Swamp Baptist Church with the Rev. Donald Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Evelyn W. Whitehead
COURTLAND -- Evelyn W. Whitehead, 91, died Jan. 30, 2000, in Southampton Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Whitehead was a lifelong resident of Southampton County and the longtime postmaster of the former Sebrell Post Office. She was the daughter of the late J. Watt and Bettie Rowe Whitehead and the widow of William Nicholas Whitehead. She was a member of Sebrell United Methodist Church and the Sebrell Womans Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Bettie Whitehead of Virginia Beach and Janet W. Kitchen of Courtland; two sisters, Doris W. Applewhite and Elizabeth O. Whitehead; a brother, Homer R. Whitehead, all of Courtland; two grandchildren, Ben Kitchen and Kay K. Smith; and four great-grandchildren, Lindsay and Jordan Smith and Stephanie and Richard Kitchen.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Wright Funeral Home, Boykins Chapel, with the Rev. James M. Smith officiating. Burial will be in Barn Tavern Cemetery, Sebrell. The family will receive friends at the home of Emerson and Janet Kitchen, 16283 Plank Road, Courtland, and suggests that memorials be made to Sebrell UMC, P.O. CAPE CHARLES -- Dorothy Leahy Robins, 82, died Jan. 29, 2000.

HATTERAS -- Leven Burrus Fulcher, 94, died Jan. 30, 2000. A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Hatteras United Methodist Church. Twiford's Island Chapel is in charge.

Carlos J. Johnson
MOYOCK -- Carlos J. Johnson, 76, died at home on Jan. 26, 2000, after battling cancer.

Born in Gadson, Ala., on June 17, 1923, he was a Navy veteran of World War II. He retired from Beltline Railroad as a clerk after 40 years, and from Virginia Beach Public Schools as a bus driver after 22 years. Carlos was an avid golfer at Kempsville Greens Municipal Golf Course and a founding member of Kempsville Marauders Golf Association.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Johnson; four sons, Ron Johnson of Virginia Beach, James Johnson of Tampa, Fla., Randy Cobb of Moyock and Scott Cobb of Suffolk; a daughter, Pamela Wilson of Chester, Va.; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday in Church of the Ascension. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cancer and Diabetes Fund through the F.O.E. No. 3204, 1061 Newtown Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23462. Arrangements are in care of Tidewater Funeral Choices.

Bridget F. Cloonan
POQUOSON -- Bridget Christine Flynn Cloonan, 73, passed away Jan. 28, 2000.

She was born in Dublin, Ireland, on Dec. 10, 1926, and was the daughter of the late George and Anne Maguire Flynn. She was the widow of Michael Joseph Cloonan Sr. Mrs. Cloonan was a member of St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church and a homemaker.

She is survived by a son, Michael Joseph Cloonan; four daughters, Anne Goldberg and her husband, Sandy, of Virginia Beach, Marie Lucchesi and her husband, David, of Maryland, Cathy McBride and her husband, Michael, of Poquoson, and Patricia Jones and her husband, Tom, of Poquoson; nine grandchildren, Richard and James McKechnie, Lisa, Jennifer and Kelly Lucchesi, Christopher and Matthew McBride, Tommy and Brian Jones; two brothers, Paddy and George Flynn; four sisters, Peggy Carpenter, Anne McGaley, Elizabeth Martinkovic and Kathleen Duncan; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Resurrection will be held at noon Tuesday at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church with the Rev. Robert F. Ruth officiating. Burial will follow in Hampton National Cemetery. A Christian Wake service will be held in the chapel of Claytor Rollins Funeral Home at 7 p.m. today and the family will receive friends after the Wake Service. At other times, the family will be gathering at the residence on Hunts Neck Road in Poquoson. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or the Poquoson Rescue Squad, 1035 Poquoson Ave., Poquoson, VA 23662. Lawrence P. Dorcsis
RESTON -- Lawrence Paul Dorcsis, 52, died Jan. 28, 2000, at Reston Hospital.

He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Dorcsis who died in 1981.

Survivors include one daughter, Josie L. Dorcsis; one son, Darron; his mother, Jeannette A. Dorcsis of Manassas; one sister, Janice A. Dorcsis of Manassas; and two brothers, Frank J. Dorcsis, of Chesapeake and Michael Martineau of Florida.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Price Funeral Home, 9609 Center St., Manassas, where a prayer service will be said at noon Tuesday. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.

RICHMOND -- Aileen Grace King, 83, died Jan. 28, 2000. A funeral was held at Bliley Funeral Home, Chippenham Chapel, on Sunday.

Margaret C. Petersen
HAGERSTOWN, Md. -- Margaret Coffield Petersen, 83, of the 1100 block of Woodland Way, died Jan. 28, 2000.

She was born in Norfolk and was the widow of John F. Petersen. She was a member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Ellen L. Keilholtz of Hagerstown; two sons, James A. Petersen of Virginia Beach and John F. Petersen Jr. of Chesapeake; two brothers, Joseph Coffield of Norfolk and Thomas Coffield of Wilmington, N.C.; and eight grandchildren.

A service and entombment will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum by Pastor Ernie Myers. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, from 7 to 9 p.m. today.
