Tommy Evans was born Aug. 10, 1920, in Waco. He attended school in Houston,
where he graduated in 1939 from Reagan High School. He was a member of
the Army's 218th Field Artillery Battalion 41st Infantry Division during
World War II, 1944 to 1946, serving in the Philippines and the occupation
in Japan. He was honorably discharged as a technical sergeant. He returned
home to finish his education. In 1949, he graduated from Texas A&M
College.
He was employed by the Abilene Independent School District 19 years
as the Industrial Vocational Training Coordinator. When he retired in 1989,
he was the Job Placement Coordinator. He was previously with the Connecticut
Mutual and the Jefferson Standard Life Insurance Companies 18 years in
sales and had been the district manager.
Mr. Evans married Dorothy May Hodges Oct. 10, 1942, in Fort Worth. He
was a member and Deacon Emeritus of the First Baptist Church. He served
many years on the Council of Boy Scouts, the Retired Teachers' Association,
the Abilene A&M Club and the Texas Vocational Guidance Council. He
was past president of the Abilene Life Underwriters Association and coordinated
the Adopt-a-School program from its inception. He was in the Kiwanis Club
more than 35 years, including the Kiwanis Club of Abilene, Emeritus. He
was past president of the University Area Kiwanis Club and a former member
and Deacon of the Broadway Baptist Church in Fort Worth.

She was born to Odell and Anna Polk Murchison. Hettie grew up there
and attended the public schools. She came to Fort Worth as a young woman
and settled. Here, she was a member of the upper room Temple Holiness Church.
She sang in the choir and was a great spiritual advisor. Hettie Vee was
very friendly and willing to help anyone in need. Her personal interests
were bingo and wrestling. Her sister, Oda Vee Murchison, preceded her in
death March 22, 1996.

Annie Sanders, a Fort Worth resident 56 years, was born June 13, 1904,
in Irene, graduated from Hillsboro public schools and was a member of Mission
Possible Church of God In Christ. She was the mother of the church and
a former Sunday school teacher.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel M. Sanders, Sr., and
daughter, Marqueleta Sanders Jimerson, in 1995.

recently worked as a truck driver for Tandy Transport. He was a Marine
Corp Corporal and awarded Purple Heart for service during Korean Conflict.
