Noel L. Moore
FORT WORTH -- Noel Leon Moore, 70, a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel, died Sunday at home.

Noel Moore was born Nov. 25, 1925, in Tulsa, Okla. A graduate of Central High School in Tulsa, he served as a Private First Class in the Army 1943-1945, earning his Basic Parachutist Badge and qualifying as a Parachute Rigger. After World War II, he attended University of Tulsa through the Reserve Officer Training Corps, earned his B.S. in Chemistry from the university and received his commission into the Air Force in 1952. Lt. Col. Moore returned to active duty May 11, 1953, this time with the Air Force. He retired Jan. 1, 1973.

Among others, his military awards include the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal with four oak leaf clusters and the Senior Master Paratrooper Badge. He served the United States in Texas, North Carolina, South Carolina, Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines, Okinawa and England, with tours of duty at SEATO and NATO Commands.

After completing his military service, Lt. Col. Moore worked with Bell Helicopter International, Textron, in Tehran, Iran 1973-1976. After retiring to Fort Worth, he served with many schools and community service organizations, including Tanglewood Elementary School, TCJC South Campus Senior Education Program and College for Kids. He was a past president of the Bass Club of the West. He was particularly proud of his 15-years-plus service as a docent at the Fort Worth Zoo with a special interest in the Education Department and Herpetarium.

Lt. Col. Moore was the son of Samuel Riley and Susie Isabel Moore, of Tulsa, Okla., both deceased.

CLEBURNE -- Bernabe R. "Ben" Valerio, 84, a retired machinist for Crown Cork & Seal, Fort Worth, died Saturday at home.

Funeral: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Primera Iglesia Bautista Emanuel in Cleburne. Burial: Rose Hill Cemetery in Cleburne. Prayer service: 7 p.m. Tuesday at Crosier-Pearson-Mayfield Funeral Home.

Mr. Valerio was born July 17, 1912, in Tlahualilo, Durango, Mexico.

Survivors: Wife, Maria R. Valerio of Cleburne; sons, Juan R. Valerio and Manuel R. Valerio, both of Cleburne; two brothers; one sister; and seven grandchildren.
