Funeral services for Myrtle (Gam) Grimes, 89, of Burleson were held Saturday, September 25 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Matthew Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Burleson. Rev. Rick Owen officiated. Burial was at Laurel Land Memorial Park of Fort Worth. Visitation was Friday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Laurel Land of Fort Worth.
Grandsons, Jack and Rick Sandlin, Jeff Zielinski, Kevin Cowart, Greg and Tim Bargsley served as pallbearers.
Mrs. Grimes died Wednesday, September 22, 1999, in Fort Worth. She was a homemaker.
She was born May 16, 1910, in Aransas Pass, Texas. Myrtle ("Gam" as she was affectionately called by most) loved people, especially children. Having lost both parents by the age of 12, she knew how it felt to be lonely. Therefore, her home was always open to her friends and the friends of her daughters. She took in several children and helped raise them for periods of their lives.
She loved poetry, and at 89 years of age could still recite poems she learned in college. She also wrote poetry and had several poems published in the Burleson Star.
Even though she has had numerous illnesses and had been a shut-in for the past ten years, Myrtle always managed to have a smile on her face and maintain a wonderful sense of humor. Her love and faith in God was apparent to all who knew her. She will truly be missed by many.
Mrs. Grimes was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Grimes, in 1998; and by a daughter, Jo Cowart, in 1997.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Jeanie and Ross Sandlin of Fort Worth, Kay and Paul Buening of Burleson and Judie and Jimmy Miller of Burleson; eleven grandchildren; and twenty great-grandchildren.
The family requests that memorials be made to St. Matthew Cumberland Presbyterian or to Community Hospice of Fort Worth.

NEWTA MAE "NANCY" PEARCE

Graveside services for Newta Mae "Nancy" Pearce, 95, of Fort Worth were held Saturday, September 25 at 1:00 p.m. at Burleson Memorial Park.
Ms. Pearce died Wednesday, September 22, 1999, at a Fort Worth care center. She was a registered nurse for 38 years around the country in hospitals on Indian reservations. She was retired.
She was born January 8, 1904, in Tarrant County, Texas. She was a member of Arlington Heights United Methodist Church and the Past 50 Club at the church. She was also a member of Burleson Chapter of OES, National Association of Retired Federal Employees and AARP.
Ms. Pearce was preceded in death by her parents Thomas Newton and Ida Mae Pearce.
She is survived by her niece, Pauline Cusack of Willow City, Texas.

Funeral services for J.C. Gee, 77, of Burleson will be held Wednesday, September 22 at 1:30 p.m. in Mountain Valley Chapel in Burleson. Rev. Jerrell Elston will officiate. Burial will be in Tye Cemetery in Burleson.
Visitation was Tuesday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Runkle, Bruce Epps, Slade Schneider, Kent Rudolph, Jayson Gee and Ernie Hauser. 
Mr. Gee died Saturday, September 18, 1999, in Fort Worth. He was a retired plumber for Allied Plumbing. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was born May 27, 1922, in Charlie, Texas to Leroy Gee and Minnie Copeland Gee. He married Irma Louise Tunnell in Midland on October 11, 1942. 
Mr. Gee is survived by his son, Jay Gordon Gee of Burleson; daughters, Suzi Schneider of Krum, Saralyn Rollins of Burleson and Tina Gee of Lewisville; brother, Edwin Eugene Gee of Abilene; sisters, Vivian Ferris of Wichita Falls and Ada Bunt of Abilene; and eight grandchildren.

CYNTHIA ANN "CINDY" NEWBY PETERSON
Funeral services for Cynthia Ann "Cindy" Newby Peterson, 49, of Burleson will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 23 at Laurel Land Memorial Chapel in Fort Worth. Burial will be at Laurel Land Memorial Park. Visitation is from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Mrs. Peterson died Sunday, September 19, 1999, at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston after a courageous six-year battle with cancer. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Peterson was born April 6, 1950, in Fort Worth. She had been a resident of Burleson for 44 years. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and an inspiration to all who knew her. Her family and friends will cherish the memories of her positive outlook on life, clever sense of humor and beautiful, heartfelt smile.
Mrs. Peterson was preceded in death by her father, Charles E. "Chuck" Newby in 1988, and brother, Gary Newby in 1997.
She is survived by her husband, Greg Peterson of Burleson; sons, Mark Crawford and wife, Teena of Burleson and Adam Crawford of Burleson; step-daughters, Kimberly Peterson of Austin and Christine Davis and husband, Todd of Allen; mother and step-father, Ann and Ben Allen of Granbury; sister, Cathy Hill of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Breanna and Trevor Crawford of Burleson; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Cassie died Wednesday, September 15, 1999, in Fort Worth. She was a student at North Crowley High School.
She was born January 15, 1985, in Lockney, Texas. She was a member of Wedgwood Baptist Church and was very active in the Youth Group. Cassie loved to play the clarinet and the piano and was a proud member of the North Crowley Mighty Panther Band. She was a great witness to her friends for her Lord Jesus Christ.
Cassie is survived by her parents, David L. and Tralissa Griffin of Fort Worth; brother Chris Griffin of Fort Worth; grandparents, David and Sue Carter of Ennis and Delores Maddox of Seminole, Texas; great-grandparents, Evelyn Adams of Glen Rose, Thelma Carter of Grand Prairie and Ena Hobdy of Seminole; aunts, Jennifer Ralston and husband, James of Weatherford, and Amy Myers and husband, Jay of Arlington; uncles, John Echols of Seminole, J.D. Funeral services for Raymond "R.B." Selman, 74, of Burleson were held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 18 at Blessing Colonial Chapel in Mansfield. Burial was at Cope Cemetery. Brother Jimmy Bradford of Trinity Baptist Church in Crowley officiated.
Pallbearers were Floyd Selman, Ronnie Sellman, James Myrick, Wayne Teague, Joe Geis and Ralph Martinez.
Mr. Selman died Wednesday, September 15, 1999, at the Emery J. Lilge Hospice House. He was a self-employed house leveler.
He was born in Fort Worth on July 16, 1925, the son of Benjamin Sylvester and Myrtis Ethel Johnson Selman. He was married to Lucille White in Weatherford on November 3, 1944.
Mr. Selman was preceded in death by one son, Gary Selman; and one granddaughter, Sarah Selman.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Lucille Selman of Burleson; two sons, Lee Selman of Burleson and Benny Selman of Fort Worth; one daughter, Glenda Stalkfleet of Crowley; two brothers, William F. Selman of Kennedale and Curtis Selman of Rendon; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Kim Scharpenberg, 43, of Burleson were held Saturday, September, 18 at the Calvery Lutheran Church in Angola, Indiana. Pastor Donald E. Meyers officiated. Burial was at Concordia Cemetery in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Mr. Scharpenberg died Saturday, September 11, 1999, in a hiking accident in Oahu, Hawaii. He was a Computer Systems Engineer Specialist in Graphics Systems Integration. He was employed by General Dynamics and Lockheed since 1988.
He was born April 9, 1956, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He moved to Burleson in 1988. He was one of the founders of Briaroaks Baptist Church.
Mr. Scharpenberg was preceded in death by his mother and father, Norma and Paul Scharpenberg.
He is survived by his wife, Marsha O'Conner Scharpen-berg of Burleson; daughter, Jennifer Scharpenberg of Burleson; stepson, Scott O'Conner of Ohio; mother-in-law, Barbara Harris of Ohio; brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenny and Judy Scharpenberg of Indiana and Dale and Sula Scharpenberg of Ohio; sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Brad Gardner of Angola, and twin sister, Kay Scharpenberg Ames of Indiana; and a number of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who loved him dearly.

Graveside services for Roy Franklin Cox, 83, of Burleson will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 20 at Greenacres Memorial Park in Cleburne. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 20 at the First Christian Church in Burleson. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 19 at Crosier-Pearson- Mayfield Funeral Home in Cleburne.
Mr. Cox died Thursday, September 16, 1999, at a local hospital. He was a real estate broker and appraiser.
He was born July 21, 1916, in Wilson, Oklahoma. He lived in Kansas, Texas and Nebraska while an employee of Swift & Company before returning to Texas in 1970. He owned Century 21 franchises and became a State Certified General Appraiser at the age of 75.
Mr. Cox was active in the First Christian Church in Burleson where he recently was honored as Elder Emeritus for his long and dedicated years of service. He was a 32nd degree Mason and received his 50 year pin.
Mr. Cox was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Ruth Marie in March, 1994.
He is survived by sons, James E. Cox and his wife, Alice of Mansfield, and Thomas R. Cox and his wife, Gina of Atlanta, Georgia; daughter, Royla Cox Robinson and her husband, Randy of Burleson; grandsons, Bradley J. Cox of San Antonio, Taylor and Aaron Cox of Atlanta, and Patrick Robinson of Dallas; granddaughters, Kristin Hart of Grandview and Raelynn Robinson of Burleson; brothers, Henry Cox and T.E. Mr. Pugh died Wednesday, September 15, 1999, at a local hospital. He was a retired carpenter.
He was born July 22, 1917, in Jackson, Alabama. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Burleson Lodge #649, AF&AM for over 50 years, and Carpenter's Local #429. He had been a resident of Johnson County for 73 years and was a member of the Baptist church.
Mr. Pugh is survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Sue Pugh of Burleson, George and Maisie Pugh of Eufala, Alabama, and brother, Joe Pugh of Alvarado; and sister, Hattie Pugh of Burleson.

Mr. Wallace died Wednesday, September 8, 1999, in Fort Worth. He was a retired building contractor and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was born February 11, 1937, in Atlantic, Iowa. He was married to Peggy Ann McGee on February 26, 1962, in Beaumont. He and his family resided in Lumberton for eight years and in Joshua for 16 years.
Mr. Wallace was preceded in death by his father, Roy Wallace; mother, Slyvia Opal Frazier Wallace; brothers, Donald L. and James L. Wallace; and sister, Shirley Esclovon.

Funeral services for Helen Vernice Vogt, 80, of Crowley, were held Saturday, September 11 at Gambrell Street Baptist Church in Fort Worth. Burial was at Crowley Cemetery in Crowley.
Mrs. Vogt died Wednesday, September 8, 1999, in Crowley. She was a retired school teacher.
She was born July 17, 1919, in Reeds Spring, Missouri. She married Weldon Vogt on December 28, 1941. She attended SW Missouri State College and Oklahoma State. She received her BSE Degree from Corpus Christi University in 1950 and her MSE from Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Ark. She taught for 30 years in elementary schools in Corpus Christi, Fort Worth, Waco and Arkadelphia.
Mrs. Vogt is survived by her husband, Weldon Vogt of Crowley; daughters, Jan Vogt of Waco and Kitty Smith of Crowley; grandchildren, Jamie Smith, Lauren Smith and Tricia Smith, all of Fort Worth; sister-in-law, Kathryn Hardaway of Hurst.

Funeral services for Ron Hunter, 63, of Burleson, were held Monday, September 13 at Mountain Valley Chapel in Burleson. Rev. Mike Milburne officiated. Burial was held with full Military Honors at the Burleson Cemetery in Burleson. Mr. Hunter died Friday, September 10, 1999, in Fort Worth. He was a retired safety director for the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram.
Mr. Hunter was born October 7, 1935, in Los Angeles, California to William F. Hunter and Marian Moore. He married Bertha Jo Peterson of Durant, Oklahoma on July 29, 1983.
Mr. Hunter was a dedicated volunteer throughout his life. In addition to his military service, Ron was involved in several fraternal organizations, including serving as the Commander of American Legion #549 in both 1985 and 1995. During his term as Commander, Ron designed the Johnson County Veterans Memorial honoring all county residents who died while in service to their country. Ron was also a member of Mountain Valley Country Club and the Crowley Moose Lodge. He and his wife Bertha Jo are members of the First Baptist Church of Burleson. "Ron's spirit and ideas will live forever."

She was born September 22, 1903, in Leena, Oklahoma. She and her husband moved to Keene in 1978. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Keene. 
Mrs. Wheeler was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Wheeler.
She is survived by her sister Esther Sandefur of Keene.

Mr. Fentress died Sunday, September 12, 1999, at Huguley Hospital in Fort Worth.
He is survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. He brought great joy to his many friends and family. He was greatly loved and will be missed by all.

Mass of Christian Burial for Winifred Black Wood, 80, of Fort Worth was held Wednesday, November 10 at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church. Burial was at Greenwood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Wood died Saturday, November 6, 1999, at Community Hospice House at Huguley. She was a homemaker.
She was born September 28, 1919, in El Reno, Oklahoma. She was a charter member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church and the Prime Time Club. She was a hospital Minister at St. Bartholomew where she served since January of 1980. She was an active member of the Polka Club, Half Century Dance Club and five Senior Citizen Dance Clubs in the surrounding areas.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Black; two brothers; and a sister.
She is survived by her husband, E.C. (Woody) Wood; son, Charles Black of Odessa; daughters, Marjorie Black of Lockport, Louisiana, Marilyn Black Mitchell and her husband, Bob of Mesa, Arizona, Marian Black Wilks of Friendswood, Paula Black Wortman and her husband, David of Burleson; sister, Marjorie Shephard of Evergreen, Colorado; step-son, Clifford Wood of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Lee Mitchell and Laurel Mitchell Norwood, Christy and Jamie Black, Brian and Jeffrey Wortman.

Mr. Jumper died Monday, November 8, 1999, in Crowley. He was a construction superintendent for Stoval Construction Company and a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was born June 15, 1952, in Fort Worth. He married Billye Gayle Sitton on June 25, 1971, in Fort Worth.

Memorial services for Leona Montanio, 83, of Burleson were held Friday, November 5 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Fort Worth. There was a private burial at Calvary Hill Catholic Cemetery in Dallas.
Mrs. Montanio died Thursday, November 4, 1999, in her home. She had been a Burleson resident for 27 years.
She was born January 31, 1916, in Cuero, Texas to Samuel Ernest Likins and Edna Virilla Moses. She was married to Paul Montanio on July 30, 1935, in Waxahachie. She loved her family and her church, and she devoted her entire life to both. An excellent seamstress, she sewed for everyone in the family and for the church. The vestments, altar and baptismal pieces were not only beautiful, but made with the love she had for her church. Mrs. Montanio served on several committees at her church, was a former member of the PTA, Lions Club, Altar Society and Daughters of St. Ann's.
Mrs. Montanio is preceded in death by her father in 1934, her mother in 1981; and her brother, Otis Kelton in 1981.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Paul; her son, Dr. Louis Montanio of Dallas; her daughter, Sandina Bowden of Burleson; sister, Ernestine Sexton of DeSoto; three grandchildren, Rocky Montanio, Angel Meredith and Bryan Bowden; three great-grandchildren, Sean and Kevin Meredith and Dylan Bowden; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. She was loved, and she will be missed. 
The family expresses their utmost thanks to Dr. Robert Shaw, Nurses Group Home Health Services, and Vitas Hospice Healthcare of Johnson County, Cindy Black, Peggy Valcik and Becky Boone, and the many friends who gave Leona their loving professional care over the past six years.

Funeral services for Bula Irene Cook, 81, of Burleson were held Tuesday, November 9 at Laurel Land of Burleson Chapel. Burial was at West Hill Memorial Park in Sherman.
Mrs. Cook died Sunday, November 7, 1999, at her residence. She was a cafeteria worker with the Fort Worth Independent School District, retiring in 1989. 
She was born August 16, 1918, in Tupelo, Mississippi. She lived in Sherman for several years, moving to Burleson in 1973 after the death of her husband. She attended Alsbury Baptist Church in Burleson.
Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by her husband, Hershel J. Cook in 1973 and son, Jerry Hershel Cook in 1948.
She is survived by sons, Nolan Cook and wife, Ruthie of Sherman, David Cook and wife, Jan, also of Sherman; daughters Beverly Thompson and husband, Lonnie of Burleson, Jeanne Fesperman and husband, Eddie of Sherman; brother, Leroy Collum of Sherman; sisters, Audrey Stout of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Mavis Kirk of Ada, Okla., Nolene Purcell of Oklahoma City, Okla., Essie Davis of Roff, Okla, and Irma Lee Highnight of Calexico, California; eleven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

KENDRICK "KEN" ANTHONY MILLER

Funeral services for Kendrick "Ken" Anthony Miller, 35, of Nassau, Bahamas, were held Sunday, October 24 at the Hillview Seventh-day Adventist Church in Nassau. Interment was at Lakeview Gardens.
Ken died Thursday, October 14, 1999, in Nassau. He was the owner of Kemco Imports.
He was born February 3, 1964, on the island of New Providence. He was the third child of Mr. and Mrs. Percy Miller. He was a member of Centerville Seventh-day Adventist Church in Nassau and graduated high school in 1983 from Chisholm Trail Academy in Keene.
All who met Ken grew to admire, love and respect him. He will forever be remembered in the hearts of many as a loving son, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin and friend.

MARION CLAYTON THOMAS

Funeral services for Marion Clayton Thomas, 84, of Crowley were held Tuesday, November 9 at Baumgardner Chapel in Crowley. Burial was at Laurel Land Memorial Park.
Mr. Thomas died Saturday, November 6, 1999, in a Fort Worth nursing home. He was a retired service station manager.
He was born June 3, 1915, in Holcumb, Missouri. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Crowley.
Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Willie Thomas, on April 1, 1999.
He is survived by sons, William Clayton Thomas of Matador, Texas, Charles Thurman Thomas of Crowley, and Gerald Don Thomas of Springtown; sisters, Ive Hudler of Canton and Avery West of Wells Point, Texas; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Ellen Virginia Welch, 74, of Burleson were held Tuesday, November 6 at Boulevard Baptist Church in Burleson. Burial was at Greenwood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Welch died Saturday, November 6, 1999, in a Fort Worth hospital. She retired from Winn Dixie in 1988 after 26 years.
She was born February 13, 1925, in Muleshoe, Texas to Issac and Effie Lee Rolan. She lived in Burleson for 33 years. She was a member of Boulevard Baptist Church. She was loved by many, but will be missed by all.
Mrs. Welch was preceded in death by her husband, Aron Welch, Sr. in 1977; her daughter, Nedra Meyer in 1995; and grandson, Jason Davis in 1986.
She is survived by son Aron Welch, Jr. of Burleson; daughters, Evelyn Gray and Laura Self, both of Fort Worth, Patricia Taylor of Blum, Brenda Lyons of Azle, Janice Clements, Nora Davis and Vera Rodriguez, all of Burleson; three brothers, one sister; 23 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and four sons-in-law.

Graveside services for Lorna Haskew Gamble, 86, of Burleson were held Thursday,November 4 at Burleson Memorial Park.
Mrs. Gamble died Tuesday, November 2, 1999, at a Fort Worth care center. She was a homemaker.
She was born November 22, 1912, in Burleson. She was a lifelong resident of Burleson and a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Burleson. She and her husband, Newton, owned and operated Haskew and Gamble Hardware in Burleson for many years. She was an accomplished artist and enjoyed giving art lessons to her grandchildren. She taught art in the Burleson and Fort Worth I.S.D.'s. She was a member of various service organizations. One of her joys was preparing beautiful meals for her family and friends. 
Mrs. Gamble was preceded in death by her husband, Newton Gamble in 1985.
She is survived by her son, Robert Gamble and wife, Pamela of Fort Worth; daughter, Dian Darr of Colorado Springs, Colorado; grandchildren, Scot Darr of Denver, Colorado, Lisa Darr of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Mali Darr of Colorado Springs, Leigh Ann Gamble of Fort Worth, Kathryn Elizabeth Gamble of Fort Worth; and cousin, Jenny Sewell of Crowley.

ARTHUR H. "REGGIE" CAST III
Funeral services for Arthur H. "Reggie" Cast III, 48, of Burleson will be held Thursday, November 4 at 11:30 a.m. at Cana Baptist Church in Burleson.
Mr. Cast died Monday, November 1, 1999, at a local hospital. He was an HVAC Technician for Alvarado I.S.D.
He was born September 4, 1951, in Odessa, Texas. He was a volunteer firefighter for Briaroaks Fire Department. He was a very generous and loving husband and father and will be greatly missed.
Mr. Cast is survived by his wife of 22 years, Linda Cast of Burleson; son, Robert Cast of Burleson; daughter, Elizabeth Cast of Burleson; brother, Arthur H. Cast, Jr. of Longview; sisters, Rebecca Cast of Fort Worth and Judy Gilliam of Southlake; several nieces and nephews and many friends.

Funeral services for Lynne Louise Akin, 48, of Burleson will be held Thursday, November 4 at noon at Laurel Land Memorial Chapel of Fort Worth. Burial will be at Laurel Land Memorial Park. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 p.m at Laurel Land.
Mrs. Akin died Sunday, October 31, 1999, in a local hospital. She was Administrative Secretary for the City of Joshua.
She was born August 3, 1951, in Fort Chaffee, Arkansas. She was a member of South Burleson Baptist Church. She attended Tarrant County College, working toward a degree in finance. Her ultimate goal was to become a Finance Director. She always had a positive outlook, was enthusiastic for life, and was an angel with an infectious smile who will be missed by all who knew her. 
Mrs. Akin was preceded in death by her father, Billy Charles Holman, Sr. in 1995.
She is survived by her husband, Jimmy Akin of Burleson; mother, Jo An Holman of Arlington; brothers, David Charles Holman of Arlington, Carl Douglas Holman and wife, Elaine of Everman, and Billy Charles Holman, Jr. of Arlington; sisters-in-law, Judy Matlock and husband, Gary of Godley, Linda Franco and husband, Danny of Fort Worth, and Patsy Burroughs of Burleson; mother-in-law, Meredith Akin of Burleson; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and her beloved cat Brownie.

Mrs. Bryant died Sunday, October 31, 1999, at All Saints Hospice. She was a housewife.
She was born December 19, 1903, in Wolfe City, Texas. She was a member of United Pentecostal Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of WWI.
Mrs. Bryant was preceded in death by her husband, John Rufus Bryant; and daughter, Helen Louise Bobo.
She is survived by son, John Edwin Bryant and wife, Lorraine of Grand Prairie; sister, L.E. Wolverton of Arlington; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren; three great-great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Ruby Yancey, 73, of Haltom City will be held Wednesday, November 3 at 10:00 am in the Mountain Valley Funeral Home chapel. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday at Coker Cemetery in the Bulcher community near Gainesville.
Mrs. Yancey died Sunday, October 31, 1999, at a nursing home in Keene.
She was born November 23, 1925, in Quannah, Texas to Oliver Amos Huggins and Annie Pearl Milburn. She married William Bartlett Yancey, Sr. on April 8, 1942, in Gainesville. She had lived in the Fort Worth area for almost 50 years. She was a former member of the Faith Baptist Church in Hurst and the Richland Hills Baptist Church.
Mrs. Yancey was preceded in death by her husband William Bartlett Yancey, Sr. on March 31, 1982.
She is survived by three daughters, Johnnie Sparks and her husband, Larry of Burleson, Diana Crowder and her husband, Ronnie of Watauga, and Teresa Burleson and her husband, Bobby of Weatherford; two sons, Kenneth Yancey and William Yancey, Jr., both of Fort Worth; two brothers, Ernest Huggins of Gainesville and Loyd Huggins of Hurst; one sister, Marie Williams of Gainesville; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was born February 2, 1925, in Fort Worth. She was a longtime member of the Church of Christ and a member of the Dido Cemetery Association. She was a devoted wife and mother and enjoyed her family and friends.
Mrs. Haverstroh is survived by her husband of 54 years, John Haverstroh of Burleson; son, G.L. Haverstroh of Alvarado; and numerous cousins and close friends.

Mrs. Pritchard died Monday, October 25, 1999, in a Wichita Falls hospital. She was a homemaker.
She was born November 1, 1920, in Seattle, Washington. She had been a resident of Weatherford for several years before moving to Wichita Falls. She was the mother of six children and a member of the Baptist Church.
Mrs. Pritchard was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie V. Pritchard; daughter, Margie Lou Pritchard Dunn; and son, Stephen L. Pritchard.
She is survived by two daughters, Katherine May Pritchard Baker of Burleson and Judith Ann Pritchard Keddy of Wichita Falls; two sons, Mark Douglas Pritchard of Fort Worth and David Loren Pritchard of Decatur; sister, Jean R. Wilson of Kerrville; brother, Rev. Talmage Wright Wilson, Jr. of Shelton, Washington; three grandchildren; and 1 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Hinkle died Friday, October 22, 1999, in Fort Worth. She was a school nurse at Jack C. Taylor Elementary in Burleson.
She was born July 23, 1952, in Fresno, California to Jack and Ruth Hayslip. She received a master's degree as a registered dietitian from Texas Tech University and an RN degree from Tarrant County Junior College.
Mrs. Hinkle is survived by her husband, George Hinkle; son, Nathan Hinkle; daughters, Dana Hinkle and Jaclyn Hinkle; brother, Jack Leon Hayslip of Kingwood; sister, Debra Hayslip Gann of Plano; great-aunt, Lena Mae Clark; nephews, Marcus and Curtis Gann, Michael and Zachary Hayslip and Jerry Bob Jackson; and niece, Melissa Jackson.

Mr. Childers died Tuesday, October 19, 1999, at his home. He was a retired service station owner.
He was born October 27, 1922, in Lamesa. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was awarded the American Theater Campaign Medal, EAME Campaign Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal. 
Mr. Childers was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Maxine Childlers in 1984.
He is survived by sons, Freddie Alexander of Cleburne and Eddie Childers of Hobbs, New Mexico; daughters, Dee Curlee and Valeria Sigler, both of Joshua, and Cathy Wallis of Aledo; sisters-in-law, Bette Childers of Weatherford and Gwen Childers of Fort Worth; sister, Wanda Wallace of Abilene; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Morgan died Tuesday, October 19, 1999, at Emery J. Lilge Hospice Home in Fort Worth. She was a homemaker. 
She was born August 11, 1922, in Denton. She married Jack Edward Morgan on May 31, 1941, in Parker County, Texas.
Mrs. Morgan was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Jack Edward Morgan in 1994; son, Jack Edward Morgan in 1942; parents, Felix and Nellie Mae Hancock; three sisters, Tula Adams, Thelma Kelly and Helene Moore; and brother, Joe Hancock.
She is survived by daughter, Jackie Ruth Morgan Pittman and her husband, Stan; grandchildren, Stanley E. Pittman, Jr. and Jane Pittman Myers and her husband, Bryan; great-grandchildren, Jack Tanner Pittman, Colton and Bethany Myers; sister, Lethea Merrick; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial for Leo M. Ryan, Maj. USAFR (Ret), 75, of Burleson will be held at 10:00 a.m, Wednesday, October 20 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Burleson. Burial will be at Laurel Land Memorial Park.
Maj. Ryan died Sunday, October 17, 1999, in a Fort Worth hospital. He was a Parts Manager for Longhorn Dodge in Fort Worth, retired since 1985. He was a pilot navigation instructor in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII and served for over 30 years in the U.S. Air Force Reserve.
Maj. Ryan was born December 16, 1923, in Neola, Iowa. He had been a resident of Burleson for 33 years and was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing and tinkering.
He is survived by his wife, Beth Ryan of Burleson; sons, Mike Ryan of Arlington, Joseph Patrick Ryan of Burleson and Don Ryan of Grand Prairie; brothers, Dean Ryan of Loveland, Colorado and Don Ryan of Billings, Montana; sisters, Sister Rita, RSCJ of San Francisco, and Rosalie Hoba, Nancy Olderog, and Jean Ryan, all of Omaha, Nebraska; two granddaughters; and one great-granddaughter.

SARAH KATHRINE STOKES

Sarah Kathrine Stokes, 78, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, took her place in Heaven Thursday, September 30, 1999. A memorial service is pending the return of her grandson from Egypt.
Mrs. Stokes was born December 1, 1920, in Salem, Ohio. She lived in Salem until her marriage to Roger Stokes in 1946, moving to El Paso and then to Fort Worth. She enjoyed traveling, camping and raising two sons.
Mrs. Stokes was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Sturgeon; father, Ralph Sturgeon; son, Jeff Stokes; husband, Roger Stokes; and brother, William Sturgeon.
She is survived by son, Tom Stokes and wife, Charlotte of Arlington; grandchildren, Chris Stokes and wife, Lisa of Crowley, Cortney Stokes and Kenny Florence of Crowley, Alicia Faires and husband, Steve of Arlington, Alexis Stokes of Arlington; great-grandchildren, Stefani Williamson and Brandon Stokes of Crowley;and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Juanita A. Vargas, 79, of Fort Worth were held Monday, October 18 at Gambrell Street Baptist Church in Fort Worth. Burial was at Laurel Land Memorial Park of Fort Worth.

Mrs. Vargas died Saturday, October 16, 1999, in Fort Worth. She was a retired Nurses Aide at Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth.
She was born February 24, 1920, in Jefferson, Texas. She was a very faithful member of Gambrell Street Baptist Church and a former member of the Joy Choir.
Mrs. Vargas was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas R. Vargas, Sr. in 1989; son, Thomas R. Vargas, Jr. in 1995; and son-in-law, Tim Wilson in 1995.
She is survived by daughters, Violet Berna and husband, Delton of Burleson, Mary Jarvis and husband, Jay of Bloomington, Indiana, Pat Cox and husband, Dennis of Dublin, Texas, and Gloria Wilson of Fort Worth; brother, Archie Reeves of Glen Rose; sisters Kathryn Humphreys and Neva Lara, both of Fort Worth; twelve grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
