Survivors include three sons, John Downs of San Antonio, Orville Downs of Mathis and Alvin Downs of Port Lavaca; two sisters, Lula Derrough of Bayside and Ruth Woods of Yorktown; nine grandchildren,12 great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.
Services will be at 3:30 p.m. July 3 at First Baptist Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Baldemar Flores Sr.
VICTORIA - Baldemar Flores Sr., a retired Refugio County employee and former Austwell resident, died June 28, 1999. He was 84.
Survivors include five daughters, Frances Rodriguez of Port Lavaca and Mary Rodriguez, Mercy Escalante and Minnie and Janie Flores, all of Victoria; three sons, Juan Flores of Camargo, Okla. and Jesus and Baldemar Flores Jr. of Victoria; a sister, Petra Cruz of Gregory; a brother, Erasmo Flores of Corpus Christi; 35 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren.
Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. July 1 at Artero Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. July 2 at Holy Trinity Chapel. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. July 2 in Gregory Cemetery, Gregory.

Marcelo L. Gonzales
PORTLAND - Marcelo L. Gonzales, a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church and an Army veteran of Vietnam, died June 29, 1999. He was 50.
Survivors include five sisters, Calletana Saucedo and San Juana Ruiz, both of Odessa, Ignacia Guerra of Sinton, Cecilia Robledo of Portland and Manuela Ruiz of Austin; and three brothers, Toribio and Amado Gozales, both of Odessa and Augustin Gonzales of Gregory.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. July 1 at Maxwell P. Dunne Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. July 2 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Burial will be in Gregory Cemetery.

Rev. Marion L. Lewis
LULING - The Rev. Marion L. Lewis, former pastor of St. Mark's A.M.E. Methodist Church in Corpus Christi and Reynolds Metal Co., retiree, died June 28, 1999. He was 79.
Survivors include his wife, Rosetta; a daughter, Stella Canada of Fresno, Calif.; three stepdaughters, Gwendolyn Lewis of San Antonio and Myrtle Robinson and Sherry Hill, both of Corpus Christi; three sons, Charles Evans of Milwaukee, Wis., Bruce Whitby of Norfolk, Va. and Marion K. Lewis of Corpus Christi; a stepson, Roy Wilson of Austin; a foster son, Tony Whitby of San Jose, Calif.; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. July 3 at Bethel A.M.E. Church. Burial will be in Union Hill Cemetery.

Konstantinos D. Lontos died June 30, 1999. He was 97.

William K. Smock
William Kent Smock, retired naval petty officer first class, Vietnam veteran and Naval Air Station employee, died June 29, 1999. He was 59.
Survivors include his wife, Esperanza; three sons, Billy Smock Jr., Shane Smock and Todd Smock, all of Iowa; a sister, Merlene Zebre of Gun Barrel City; a brother, Gary Smock of California and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. July 3 at McFall Memorial Chapel, Naval Air Station Kingsville. Burial will be with full military honors in Chamberlain Cemetery, Kingsville.
A memorial services will be held at 12:30 p.m. July 6 at the Roman Catholic Chapel at the Naval Air Station Corpus Christi.

Lois E. Tamplin, a teacher and member of Weber Road Church of Christ, died June 28, 1999. She was 90.

Charles Robert "Robby" Marquis, a former King High School student and Solo Serve shipping and receiving foreman, died June 29, 1999. He was 20.

Sharon Polk, former Parkdale Baptist School principal and Flour Bluff Independent School District administrator, died June 29, 1999. She was 52.

Survivors include her husband, Guadalupe; a daughter, Magdalena Rodriguez of Hereford; five sons, Matthew Villarreal of Houston, Guadalupe Villarreal Jr. of Hereford, Abraham Villarreal of Alice, Samuel Villarreal of Orange Grove, and Danny Villarreal of Alfred; a sister, Francisca Covio of Orange Grove; 30 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Alberto Barrientes
Alberto "Beto" Barrientes, an Army veteran of World War II, a former employee of the city of Corpus Christi and a Naval Air Station Corpus Christi retiree, died June 30, 1999. He was 75.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Rosario; four sons, Johnny, Manuel, Marco and Jose Barrientes, all of Corpus Christi; seven daughters, Maria Palacios, Alberta Macias and Mary Ellen, Maria Genoveva, Rebecca and Marisol Barrientes, all of Corpus Christi, and San Juanita Garza of Fort Polk, La.; a brother, Johnny Barrientes of Brownsville; two sisters, Nena Hernandez of Brownsville and Chelo Bejano of Houston; 28 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Vivian Glenn, owner of Glenn's Flower Shop and a member of Second Baptist Church and the Texas State Florist Association, died June 30, 1999. She was 97.
