Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. July 15 at Corpus Christi Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. July 16 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in Seaside Memorial Park.

SINTON - Doris Ruth Books, a former member of Norfork (Ark.) Retardation Association, died July 14, 1999. She was 71.
Survivors include two sons, Scott Books of Pekin, Ill., and David Books of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a daughter, Julie Books of Norfork, Ark.; two brothers, Delton Riebschleager of Castorville and Harley Riebschleager of Sinton; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. July 17 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

INGLESIDE - John B. Caldwell, a retired commercial construction contractor, former president of North East Emergency Distribution for Tarrant County and a member of Bethel Baptist Church, died July 13, 1999. He was 71.
Survivors include his wife, Merigold; a son, Frank Caldwell of Dallas; a son, Frank Caldwell of Dallas; a daughter, Carolyn Neal of Montgomery, Ala.; a brother, Jack Caldwell of Wichita, Kan.; two sisters, Catherine Caldwell of Oklahoma City and Mary Teel of Stonewall, Okla.; and one grandson.
Burial will be 10 a.m. July 16 in Bluebonnet Hills Cemetery, Colleyville.

Gladys Loraine Cross, a former employee of Southern Alkali and Sears Roebuck & Co. and a member of Annaville Baptist Church, died July 12, 1999. She was 82.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Miller of Corpus Christi; a son, Brad Cross of Austin; eight sisters, Leora Ligion of Texarkana, Vesta Jennings of Portland, Lois Tate of Corpus Christi, Doris McNeil of Dayton, Ohio, Darlene Wright of California, Connie Clark of Odessa, Margaret Boggan and Evelyn Dean, both of Kingsville; two brothers, Bill Nix of Portland and Harold Nix of Kingsville; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

DRISCOLL - Juanita S. Gonzalez, a member of Our Lady of Pilar Catholic Church Prayer Group in Corpus Christi and member of the St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church in San Diego, died July 12, 1999. She was 73.
Survivors include two sons, Hipolito Gonzalez of Driscoll and Arnold Gonzalez of Corpus Christi; a daughter, Sara Limon of Driscoll; four brothers, Severiano Salinas of Petronila, Servando Salinas of Alice, Reynaldo Salinas of Corpus Christi and Oscar Salinas of Driscoll and five grandchildren.
Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. July 13 at Ramon Funeral Home, Robstown. Mass was celebrated July 14 at St. Francis de Paula Catholic Church, San Diego. Burial will be in Pe¤a Cemetery, La Rosita.

Raymond L. Toerck
SINTON - Raymond Lynn Toerck, a retired rancher and farmer and a former manager of the Red Barn Steak House in Mathis, died June 30, 1999. He was 67.
Survivors include his wife, Julene; two sons, Patrick Toerck of Austin and Michael Toerck of West Allis, Wis.; and a sister, Frances Hartman of Austin.

Maria L. Vela
PALITO BLANCO - Maria Luisa Vela, a retired Ben Bolt-Palito Blanco school district custodian and member of the St. Joseph Mission and Lando Adult Center, died July 13, 1999. She was 81.
Survivors include three sons, Albino, Jose Luis and Ramiro Vela, all of Palito Blanco; a daughter, Lupita Vera of Palito Blanco; five brothers, Felipe Mu¤oz of Alice, Jose Mu¤oz of Premont, Donato Mu¤oz of Palito Blanco, Manuel Mu¤oz of Alice and Mario Mu¤oz of Premont; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

PEARLAND - Michael Wayne Walther, a Marine veteran of the Vietnam War, an employee of Merichem Chemicals and Refinery Services and a member of Texas Board of Professional Engineers and AICHE, died July 11, 1999. Hewas 55.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; two sons, Christopher and Matthew Walther, both of Pearland; two sisters, Celeste Elder of Universal City and Cindy Walther of San Antonio; a brother, Mark Walther of Bulverde; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p .m. July 15 at St. Helen's Catholic Church. Burial will be at 2 p.m. July 16 in Chamberlain Cemetery, Kingsville.
