Barbara Ann Griffin, 42, of Crosby went to be with the Lord, Saturday, January 5, 2002.
She was born August 22, 1959 in Monroe, La. to Jarrett Davis Sr. and Earma Foy Daiz. Barbara was a self employed Hair Stylist. Barbara was a natural born leader and a people person, if you asked her to do something she was always ready and willing, she put her family and friends above herself. Barbara enjoyed being a hair stylist, cooking and taking care of her family.
Barbara is survived by loving husband of 24 years, Anthony Griffin, Jr. of Crosby; three children, daughter, Tameka-Monya Myers of Crosby; son, Anthony Griffin III of Crosby; daughter, Shaura Ann Griffin of Crosby; brothers, Jarrett Davis, Jr. of Monroe; James Davis of Port Allen, La.; Ralph Davis of Crosby; Jory Don Davis of Los Angeles, Calif.; Richard Davis of Houston; sisters, Jernell Durio of Channelview; Deborah Barnes of Crosby; Linda Scott of Winnsboro, La.; father, Jarrett Davis Sr. of Winnsboro; mother, Earma Daiz of Winnsboro; many nieces, nephews, Godchildren, other relatives and a host of friends.

Florence S. Moore
Florence S. Moore, 93, passed away, Wednesday, January 9, 2002.
She was a resident of Baytown since 1960. She was a member of the Eva Maude Garden Club, Baytown Historical Society and a member of St. John’s Parish. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Alter Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter J. Moore and son-in-law, Tom Harris.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Kay Moore of Baytown; daughter, Sally Harris of Dublin, Ohio; grandchildren, Kristen M. Moore of Baytown; Patrick Harris and Colleen Harris both of Dublin.
The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. today, January 11, 2002 at Earthman Funeral Home.

Charlie Bass, Sr.
Charlie Bass, Sr., 78, of Dayton, passed away, Monday, January 7, 2002 at the VA Hospital in Houston.
Charlie was born March 28, 1923 in Juliff, Texas. He lived in Barrett Station for 44 years and 24 years in Dayton. He was a member of John G. Jones Lodge and ACME Lodge of Liberty, Mt. Olive Baptist church of Dayton and Pastor of Lake Pool Baptist Church in Sheperd. He worked at Exxon Refinery and ROHM and HAAS. He was in the U.S. Navy, Steward 3rd class. He retired from Harris County Precinct Two.
He is preceded in death by his step-father, Joseph Hardy, Sr. and son, Michael Bass, and father, Johnny Bass.
Charlie is survived by his wife, Gladys Bass of Dayton; mother, Mrs. Julia Hardy of Barrett Station; sons and daughters-in-law, Charlie Bass (Darlene), Kirk Bass (Lenora). Karl Bass (Beverly), Allen Bass, Kevin Bass (Patricia), daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia Tillotson (Charlie), Gloria Brown, Linda Bass, Diana Alfred (Terry) Keri Joseph, Kathy Bass, brother, Joseph Hardy, Jr., 27 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and loving friends and relatives. Paul Woodward Blake, 76, passed away, Tuesday, January 8, 2002 at Triumph Hospital in Channelview.
He was born on June 18, 1925 in Grimes Co., TX. He was of The Mormon faith. He attended Iola Texas High School and Lon Morris and also, Sam Houston State College. He was a loving husband for 54 years.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Grace and Vance Blake and brother-in-law, Thomas Bayliss and wife, Esther.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Elizabeth Bayliss Blake of Houston; sister, Jane Zawacki and husband Johnie of Houston; sister-in-law, Helen Bayliss Strack and husband Morris of Spring; sister-in-law, Pauline Leavins and husband Ray of Arkansas and Georgia Russell of Oklahoma; niece, Kimberly Strack of Spring; nephews, John Eric Strack of Colorado and John Paul Zawacki and wife, Patricia of Pasadena; friend, Delia Lopez and husband Guillermo of Houston, many nieces and nephews.

Ruby Jo Wakefield
Ruby Jo Wakefield, 71, of Baytown went to be with our Lord on Thursday, January 10, 2002.
A resident of Baytown for 38 years she was born on May 26, 1930 in Pelly, Texas. She was loved and cherished by all who knew her. An active member of Cedar Bayou Baptist Church, she worked in the church nursery for 11 years where she took loving care of all “her babies.”
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Naomi and Webster Ward, her stepmother, Dorothy Ward and two grandchildren, Kathy Jo and Jessie Wakefield.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Emmitt N. (Sarge) Wakefield, sons, Emmitt W. Wakefield and his wife Margaret of Cherokee, N.C.; Jamie and Karen Wakefield of Dayton; daughters, Edith Rochow and her husband Michael of Yellville, Ark.; Naomi Wakefield and her life partner Joe Gonzales, Debra Rice and her husband James and Wanda Strickland and her husband Billy all of Baytown; step-brothers, Ron and Clancy Woliver, 14 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and all her many friends at Cedar Bayou Baptist Church.
As per her wishes, she will be cremated. There will be a special memorial service held for her on Saturday, January 12, 2002 at 4 p.m. at Cedar Bayou Baptist Church officiated by Brother Mark Broussard.
In lieu of flowers, she would ask that you would make a contribution to Cedar Bayou Baptist Church.

Charles Robert Davidson
Charles Robert Davidson, 47, of Baytown, passed away Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002 in a Houston hospice center.
He was born Nov. 18, 1954 in San Antonio, Texas. He had lived in Baytown since 1974, where he worked as a welder for Tanner Pipe Line. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was a member of the Goose Creek Masonic Lodge #1192.
He is survived by his parents, John and Edna Davidson; grandmother, Goma Fowler; daughter Shannon Davidson of Baytown; brothers, Wayne Davidson of Fort Worth, Texas and Jack Robertson of Laughlin, Nev.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002 in Navarre Chapel with Father Dennis Darilek officiating.

Virgil Boyd
Virgil Boyd, 94, of Old River passed away Friday, Jan. 11, 2002 at Baytown Nursing Home.
Mrs. Boyd was a long-time resident of Old River and was a member of the Old River Assembly of God church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Boyd; son-in-law, Frank Follis; and grandson, Gary Follis.
She is survived by daughter, Dovie Follis of Old River; grandson and wife, Wayne and Jeannie Follis of Mont Belvieu; grand-daughter and husband, Diana and Steve Honea of the Woodlands; and three
great-grandchildren, Jason Clanton of San Marcos, Amber Follis of San Antonio and Courtney Webb of the Woodlands.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 13 at Earthman Funeral Home.

Lillian I. Rowe
Lillian I. Rowe, 68, of Baytown, passed away Friday, Jan. 11, 2001 at a local health care center.
She was born in Houston on March 29, 1933 and had been a resident of Baytown for 48 years. Affectionately known as the “Ding Dong Lady,” she traveled Baytown for more than 20 years selling Avon products, a job she dearly loved. If not on her Avon route, she was at home baking her famous poppy seed cake to brighten someone’s day or cleaning and decorating her home with her many Avon bottles, baubles and beads.
Her constant smile, positive attitude, her unselfishness and absolute love for the Lord and her family and friends will always be cherished and remembered.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Clifford Rowe Jr.; her son, Keith Rowe; daughter, Vicki Rowe; grandchildren Lindsey, Lauren and Christa Rowe; a sister, Juanita Stanley; a brother, Harry Ellis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her family wishes to give special thanks to her care givers at St. James House for the last seven years.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Navarre Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Navarre Chapel, with the Rev. Roy Cloudt officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

William “Buddy” Dillard
William “Buddy” Dillard, 70, of Baytown, passed away Jan. 11, 2002 at a Houston hospital.
He was born March 3, 1931 in Pelly, Texas. He lived in the Baytown area all of his life. He worked as a supervisor at Brown & Root for 27 years, where he was a very dedicated and loyal employee. He also served in the U.S. Army.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife and one sister.
He is survived by his son, William A. Dillard of Baytown; daughter and son-in-law, Martha and David Duval of Point Blank, Texas; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Monday and until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Navarre Funeral Home.

Lillian Kubin
Lillian Kubin, 83, of Crosby, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, January 13, 2002.
She was born December 5, 1918 in Sealy to John and Mary Lastovica. Lillian was a homemaker, who enjoyed flower gardening, mowing her yard, which she had done up until last week. She was well known for her cooking, especially her kolaches and strudels. Lillian also sang with her husband in the church choir and in their younger years they were requested to sing many times in weddings. But most of all Lillian was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was the primary caregiver for the last four years of her husbands life.
Lillian is preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Anthony John Kubin, brother, Joe Lastovica and sister, Albina Hickl.
Lillian is survived by five sons, Richard Kubin and wife Cathy of Crosby; Jerome Kubin and wife Barbara of San Antonio; Stanley Kubin and wife Anita of Magnolia; Randy Kubin of Crosby; Mark Kubin and wife Gloria of Cabot, Ark.; six daughters, Doris Cash and husband Joe of Point Blank; Bernice Lucas and husband Richard of Highlands; Loretta Gant and husband Ed of Houston; Patricia Pippin and husband Don of Lakewood, Colo.; Roberta Hively and husband Royce of Highlands; Annette Blanscet and husband Kim of Crosby; brother, Louis G. Lorraine Miller, 93, passed away, Monday, January 14, 2002 at BayCoast Medical Center.
She was born October 8, 1908 in Lindsay, Okla. She was a resident of Baytown since 1955 when she moved from Marble Falls. She was a member of P.T.A. and Eastern Stars and a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 75 years, John Brisco Miller and daughter, Elizabeth Ann.
She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, John T. and Dee Miller of Baytown; grandchildren, John Brisco Miller II of Austin; Joe Thomas Miller of Pasadena; Dee Ann Kelley of Hallsville; great-grandchildren, Johnny Kelley, Kyle Kelley, Carmen Miller and Maclin Miller.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 17, 2002 at the Premont Cemetery in Premont, Tx. with Rev. Meloney Welsh officiating.

Eleanor Newton, 60, passed away, Sunday, January 13, 2002 peacefully at her home surrounded by a family that loved her.

He was born on October 10, 1923 in Tynan, Tx. He was a veteran of the US Army and served in World War II. He was also a retiree of Laborers’ International Union of North America.

He was born April 6, 1921 in Kennard, Tx. He lived in Baytown since 1945. He was a rigger with Exxon. He served in the US Army and was a member of Cedar Bayou Church of Christ.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Darwin Creasy.
He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Yvonne Creasy of Baytown; sons and daughter-in-law, Allen P. Wallace of Porter; James E. and Lisa Wallace of Channelview; Lee H. Wallace of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughters and sons-in-law, Susan Jimenez of Baytown; Delia Shelton of Arlington; Mary and Kenneth Lostake of Spring; Martha Creasy of Nacogdoches; Carolyn Hill of Baytown; Carmen and Nelson Moore of Waco; brother Gerald Max Creasy and his wife Jane of Conroe; 23 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 31 great-great-grandchildren and 47 total foster children over 38 years.

Rev. Dr. Carlton Ford, 83, of Baytown, passed away, Tuesday, January 8, 2002 at a Baytown hospital.
He was born November 21, 1918 in LeBeau, La. He lived in Baytown for 21 years. He was Pastor of the Mt. Zion M.B.C, Mont Beliveu, former moderator of the Christian Benevolent Association of Texas, President of The Black Scholarship Fund, Old River. He was a minister and pastor. He served 4 years in the Navy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, one sister, one son and a daughter.
He is survived by his wife, Missionary Bessie Lee Ford of Baytown; daughter-in-law, Ersula Lettrice of Houston; daughters and sons-in-law, Pastors Marilyn and Will LaVergne of Houston; Trula and David Harvey of Houston; Arleen Fuller of Miami, Fla.; sisters, Elizabeth Wilder of Houston; Ethel Ford of Anahuac; 18 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, church family and friends. All Ministers are asked to wear black.
Visitation will be from 6 - 7 p.m. Friday, January 18, 2002 at Mt. Zion M.B.C., Mont Belvieu, with a wake will be from 7:30 - 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 19, 2002 at Shioh M.B.C., 12418 Crosby Lynchburg Rd., Barrett Station with Rev. Sherman Gray, Jr. officiating.
Interment will be at Walter Brown Cemetery, Old River.
Pallbearers will be Deacon C. Hamilton, Deacon N. Thomas, Deacon W. Palmer, Deacon A. Massengill, Deacon M. Lavan, Deacon M. Gray and Deacon A. Marks.

Deborah Elaine Brewer
Deborah Elaine Brewer, 47, of Crosby, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2002 at her home following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born September 23, 1954 in Baytown, and worked as a home health care professional. She loved life and enjoyed fishing and spending time with her friends and family.
Surviving family members include her husband, Jeffrey Brewer of Crosby; son and daughter-in-law, Cody and Christina Grothe of Baytown; daughter, Kandi Ann Hiser of Crosby; stepmother, Dorothy Roberts, brother, Clyde Randall Aaron of Huffman; stepbrother, Leon Aaron of Pasadena; stepsisters, Diane Vasquez of Houston, Mary Edna Zimmerman of Pennsylvania and Paula Gene of LaPorte; and her beloved grandchildren, Nicholas, Makayala, Austin, Michael and Destiny Ann.
A celebration of Deborah’s life will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, January 18, 2002 at L.A. Crespo Funeral Directors, 6123 Garth Road, Baytown. A reception will be held at the funeral home immediately afterward. Friends may bring food to the funeral home’s Community Kitchen on Friday morning prior to the ceremony.

James P. Booth
James P. Booth, 85, of Temple, passed away, Monday, January 14, 2002 in a local Temple hospital.
Mr. Booth was born October 14, 1916 in Friendswood, to William Henry and Claude Durant Booth, a pioneer family and one of the founding families of Brazoria County. He served in the Navy in the Pacific during World War II and then attended John Tarleton College and later The University of Houston. He married Joyce Gary, February 15, 1947 in Alvin. He was employed there with Phillips Petroleum. In 1963 he moved to Baytown where he worked for Arco Petroleum. Mr. Booth was also an architect and a rancher. In 1981 Mr. Booth retired and moved to Temple. Mr. Booth was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a member of The Friendship Sunday School Class. He served the Methodist Church many years in numerous capacities and leadership positions. Mr. Booth was also a 32nd. Degree Mason for 52 years and was a member of the Belton Lodge and Scottish Rite. He was honored with the Brandon/Carroll Society Award for many years of support to the Scottish Rite Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Booth.
Mr. Booth was a wonderful husband, father and a devoted grandfather to his beloved grandson, Will. He always considered the needs and comforts of his family above anything else, and stressed to always find something good that you can do for someone. He always said “It is better to give than receive.”
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Booth of Temple; son, Gary Booth of Temple; daughter, Susan Booth Kuykendall and son-in-law, Karl Kuykendall of Temple; grandson, William Booth of Temple and sister, Lulu B. Owen of Temple.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. today, January 17, 2002 at The First United Methodist Church, Temple with Rev. Connally Dugger and Rev. Ernest Phifer officiating. Burial will be in Luling at Luling City Cemetery at 3 p.m.

S.D. “Doug” Brooks, 84, passed away, Saturday, January 12, 2002 at Bayside Community Hospital in Anahuac.
He was a resident of Anahuac since 1972. He worked for Humble Oil and Refining for 25 years and retired in 1972. He was a veteran of W.W.II and served in the Navy. He was a member of the Methodist Faith. He was a member of Exxon Annuities, former member of Anahuac Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife of 10 years Barbara Brooks of Anahuac; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Allen Hightower of Silsbee; stepchildren, Maxine Hill of Raywood; Karen Reavis of Liberty; John Watts, Jr. of Anahuac; Louis Watts of Winnie; Jamie Jones of Eagle Lake; Judy Huebner of Dayton; Clarissa Watts of Anahuac; Samantha Watts of Beaumont; Debra Hall of Sealy; grandchildren, Gary Hightower of Nederland; Kristi Soileau of Kountze; 23 step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
