Margarita Gonzales Nieto 
Margarita Gonzales Nieto went to be with our Lord Sunday, Aug. 25, 2002, at the age of 61. She was born Dec. 22, 1940, in Seguin to Joe L. and Maria De Jesus Gonzales.
Margaret worked at Dagel Furniture and was employed at Wal-Mart until her stroke in 1993.
She was active in the Guadalpana Society at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and also served on the Parish Council.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 44 years, Louis Nieto; three sons: Louis Jr. and wife Gloria, Robert and wife Minerva, Adrian and wife Sarah all of Seguin. Two daughters: Virginia DeLaRosa and husband Keith of San Marcos, Diana Lara and husband Jesse of Seguin.
Four brothers: Fred; Joe Jr, Gilbert and Richard Gonzales all of Seguin.
Four Sisters: Josie Garza of Angleton, Rachel Sander of Austin, Ninfa Rodriguez of Round Rock and Oralia Davenport of Seguin; 17 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
The family would especially like to thank Margaret’s close friend and companion Carmen Valles for all her love and support these last four years.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, Aug. 27 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Interment will be at the San Geronimo Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Robert Thomas Nieto, Charlie Nieto, Noel Neito, Louis Nieto III, Jonathan DeLaRosa, Sean DeLaRosa. 
Honorary Pallbearers will be brothers Fred, Joe, Gilbert and Richard Gonzales and brothers-in-law Jesse Rodriguez and Julio Garza.
The family requests any donations be made to the Hope Hospice of New Braunfels.

Candelario “Candy” Andrada, 34, passed away Sunday, Aug. 25, 2002, near San Marcos. 
Visitation will be held 4-9 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 27, at Goetz Memorial Chapel with a Rosary being recited at 7 p.m. in the chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2002, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Santo Tomas Cemetery.

Joe S. Villarreal Jr.
Joe S. Villarreal Jr. of Seguin died Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2002, at the age of 53.
Survivors include: wife, Lupe Villarreal of Seguin; daughter, Melissa Villarreal of Seguin; son, Jeremiah Villarreal and wife Dalila of Seguin; sisters, Mary Ellen Slater of Florida, Diane Armendarez of Houston, Tina Spring of Houston and Deborah Woo of Nevada; brothers, Roland Villarreal of Nevada and Mark Villarreal of Hempstead and one grandson, Jeremiah Villarreal Jr.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Rosie Villarreal and one sister, Diamontina Villarreal.

Anna Lynn Dietert passed away August 29, 2002 in Seguin.

Interment will be in Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park.

Anna was born Dec. 12, 1962, in San Antonio. She formerly worked for Guadalupe Valley Hospital in Seguin.
Ms. Dietert is survived by her mother, Evelyn Newman of Seguin; aunts and uncles, Wilbert and Dorothy Bender of Shiner and Braxton and Lottie Newman of Pleasanton.
She is preceded in death by her father, Jack Newman; maternal grandparents, Joe and Annie Janda and paternal grandparents, Lester and Britta Newman.

Dudley R. Burris
Dudley R. Burris, 73, a McLean, Virginia, resident for the past 42 years and who was a retired case officer with the operations directorate of the Central 
Intelligence Agency, died Aug. 5 at Inova Fairfax Hospital. He had cancer. 
Mr. Burris, a Texas native and Texas A & M University graduate, joined the CIA in 1950. 
He served in occupied Japan and in Korea during the war there. Later assignments took him to Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, Bolivia, Guatemala and Colombia, as well as postings at CIA headquarters. 
He retired in 1978 but continued to work for the agency on a contract basis until retiring altogether in the late 1980s.
He was preceded in death by a son, Army Maj. Andrew Burris, in 1997, and his parents J. B. and Minnie Germer Burris.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores Schaefer Burris of McLean; two sons, James, of New York, and Ian, of Arlington; two daughters, Margaret Burris Lambert of Vienna and Elizabeth Gionfriddo of Herndon; and five grandchildren.
Graveside services and interment will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002, at Riverside Cemetery.

Mildred B. Waltisperger, 83, of Schertz, passed away Friday, Aug. 31, 2002.
She is survived by her daughter, Marjorie Luensmann (Reno) of Schertz; son, Ivan Waltisperger (Barbara) of Marion; brother, John Marbach (Betty) of Saginaw, Texas; sister-in-law, Wanda Marbach of San Antonio; grandchildren, Vicki Lassere (Leroy Jr.) of St. Hedwig, Elizabeth Bohannon of Schertz, Kevin Luensmann of St. Hedwig, and Darryl Waltisperger and Keith Waltisperger, both of Marion; and great-grandchildren, Michael Hannah, Megan Hannah, Jessica Bohannon, Kyle Bohannon and William Luensmann.

Jeanne Weatherford
Jeanne Weatherford, age 69, of Seguin, passed away on Aug. 29, 2002, in San Antonio. 
She was born on September 13, 1932, in San Mateo, California, to Leo Patrick and Martha Johnson d'Artenay. 
After her husband's retirement from the Air Force, Jeanne worked beside her daughter Shirley at the Wagging Works Kennel. 
Survivors include her husband, Edward Weatherford of Seguin; sons, Thomas Weatherford of Gresham, Oregon, Donald Weatherford of Seguin, David Weatherford of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; daughters, Shirley Weatherford of Seguin and Linda Weatherford of Austin; grandsons, Justin Weatherford of Hillsboro, Oregon and Jered Weatherford of Gresham, Oregon; sister, Shirley Pease of San Antonio, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. 
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 8, at the Goetz Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Jim Price officiating.

Tomasa R. Tristan, 96, of Kingsbury, died Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002.
Survivors include: daughters, Arcadia Tristan, Ninfa T. Martines, Rebecca T. Reimer, Carolina T. Mendez and Elena T. Gonzales; sons, Ignacio Tristan, Alejandro Tristan and Prisco Tristan; 29 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesus P. Tristan, one son, Eusebio Tristan, and two daughters, Leona T. Vara and Dorotea Tristan.

A graveside service was held Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002, at 10 a.m. at San Juan Cemetery in Prairie Lea, Texas.

Joseph Anthony Sheffield
Joseph Anthony Sheffield, 17, of Seguin, died September 4, 2002.
Funeral services will be Friday, September 6, 2002 at 6 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church with Rev. Edward Giese officiating. Visitation will be in Goetz Memorial Chapel on Thursday from 12 noon to 9 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m.
Joseph was born September 11, 1984, in Seguin to David and Carolyn (Linebarger) Sheffield. 
Joseph loved all sports. He played baseball, soccer, basketball and hockey. He was a member of the high school golf team.
Joseph is survived by his parents David and Carolyn Sheffield of Seguin; brother Kevin Sheffield of Seguin; grandparents Kenneth and Clara Linebarger of Seguin; uncles and aunts Jerome and Sandy Elley of Seguin, Eddie and Nancy Ronshausen of Austin; Daniel and Rita Cuadros of Austin, Gary and Shirley O'Neal of Nixon, Buck and Susan Linebarger of Seguin and Glenda Beall of Lancaster; cousins Mike and Troy Elley, Phillip and Eric Elley, Sandra Cuadros, Mathew and Candice Ronshausen, Lisa, Christy and Rebecca Linebarger, Bryan, Brandi, Erica and Pete O'Neal, Amanda Beall and Freddie Baker.

Antonia Robles, 84, of Seguin, died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2002.
Survivors include: daughters Antonia (Tonie) R. De La Garza of Seguin and Rosie R. Rodriguez of Austin; sons, Ben Robles Jr. of Seguin and John Jesse Robles of Seguin; nine grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Bruce D. Norris
Bruce D. Norris, 68, passed away in Seguin on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2002, after a long and valiant battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).
He was born July 22, 1934, to John Z. and Emma Glaeser Norris in Fort Worth, Texas. He was a graduate of Burbank High School in San Antonio and he attended Texas Tech University and Southwest Texas State University.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of San Antonio. He served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1960 and was a member of the American Legion Post #245 in Seguin.
Bruce was a life member of the San Antonio Livestock Exposition and a member of the American Quarter Horse Association.
Survivors: his wife of 40 years, Mary Ann Norris; sons, Morgan Norris and wife Michele, and Kevin Norris; grandsons, Cole and Mason Norris; brother, Jarrett Norris; sisters, Jeannine Brooks, Marjorie Tucker and Jeraldene Fortier; brother-in-law, Jesse Roy Hart; sister-in-law, Karlene Fey and husband Harvey; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday, Sept. 9, 2002, at Goetz Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m.

Iona M. Herber
Iona M. Herber (“Maw-Maw”), 86, of Marion, Texas, peacefully went to our Lord Sept. 9, 2002. 
Maw-Maw was born June 28, 1916, in Adkins, Texas. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her and remembered for her selfless generosity in doing for others. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Erwin F. Herber, parents Pauline and William Cain, sisters Lillie Noyes and Ruby Huggins, brother William Cain and daughter-in-law JoAnn Herber. 
Survivors include daughter, Weetona Granzin and husband Dalvin; sons, Franklin Herber, L. A. Herber and wife Carol, and Clifton Herber and wife Deborah; sister-in-law, Elsie Herber, brother-in-law Kent Herber and wife Elaine; 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

William Henry “Bill” Dibrell
William Henry “Bill” Dibrell of Wimberley, Texas, was born in the Methodist parsonage in Bastrop, Texas, Feb. 5, 1929, one of six children of Methodist Pastor, Missionary and U.S. Army Chaplain, Rev. Walter Dibrell and Eugenia Carolan Dibrell, and was the grandson of Judge Joseph Burton Dibrell of Seguin, Texas. He passed away in Austin, Texas, Sept. 10, 2002.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Sept. 13, 2002, at the Wimberley United Methodist Church on CR 1492 in Wimberley, followed by a graveside service at 3 p.m. at the San Geronimo Cemetery in Seguin. The Rev. Steven Sweet will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund of the Wimberley United Methodist Church.

Richard Lowery McNeill
Richard Lowery McNeill passed from this earth on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2002. 
Richard was born on Jan. 17, 1952 in Rochester, New York and later moved to Seguin, Texas where he graduated from Seguin High School in 1971. 
Richard later pursued a career with the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Department, Williamson County EMS and the LBJ Wildflower Reserve.
Richard was a very private person that enjoyed company and conversation with a few friends. He especially loved his pets. A very special friend, Ryan Jones, cared for Richard and took care of him during his illness.
Richard is preceded in death by his mother and father George and Dorothy McNeill. 
He is survived by his brother Donald McNeill and nephew Cayce McNeill. 
A memorial service for Richard will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, at the LBJ Wildflower Preserve.

Ernest F. Jackel
Ernest F. Jackel died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2002, at the age of 88.
Mr. Jackel was born July 9, 1914, at Macdona in Bexar County, Texas. He was the first child of Frank and Dorathea Jackel. After short periods in New Braunfels and Marion, Mr. Jackel moved to Seguin in 1932, where he resided for the remainder of his life. 
Prior to World War II, Mr. Jackel worked for Seguin Motor Company as a mechanic. In 1941, he joined the U. S. Army and he served in the United States and Trinidad until his discharge in 1945. 
At the time of his death, he had 57 years of continuous membership with the H.U. Wood Post #245 of the American Legion. On Feb. 24, 1946, he married Meta Germann at Cross Evangelical and Reformed Church in Seguin. Ernest and Meta were members at Cross Church until their deaths. 
After the war, Mr. Jackel's employment shifted to the agricultural industry where he was a mechanic and later the parts manager of the Massey-Ferguson dealers in Seguin until he retired in the mid-1980's.
He enjoyed his Sunday afternoon drives with his beloved wife, Meta, and they gladly volunteered their time assisting their relatives and friends. 
Ernest also thoroughly enjoyed the time spent at the American Legion Hall playing dominoes with his friends. As long as his health permitted, he volunteered his time to assist the Legion at the funerals of departed veterans.
Mr. Jackel is survived by his sons, Stanley Jackel and wife Lou Ann of Seguin, and Frank Jackel and wife Christy of Austin; granddaughters, Kimberley and Alyson Jackel and grandson Corey Jackel; sister, Norma Behrendt and husband Marvin of San Antonio; sisters-in-law, Nelda Kubala and husband Leon, Norma Jones, and Doris Germann; and brothers-in-law, Reno Germann and wife Connie and J. H. Coley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Meta Jackel, his parents, Frank and Dorathea Jackel and his brother Milton Jackel. 
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, September 13, 2002, with the family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. at Goetz Funeral Home. 
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002, at Cross United Church of Christ with Pastor Alan Coe officiating.
Interment with Military Honors under the Auspices of American Legion Post #245 will follow in Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park.

Lovie Lee Barnes
Lovie Lee Barnes passed away September 11, 2002, in San Antonio.

Mrs. Barnes was born August 27, 1914, in Guadalupe County to Ura and Mary Anna "Polly" Mercer. She worked for Montgomery Wards for 24 years as Manager and District Manager. She was a member of Kingsbury United Methodist Church. “She will be greatly missed as a mother, grandmother and best friend.”
Lovie is survived by her daughters, Barbara Behal and husband Mike of Seguin, Pat Grigg and husband Larry of Seguin and Gayle Barnes of San Antonio; grandchildren, Annette Behal Groweg and husband John of Houston, Heath Grigg of Hunt and Brittney Grigg of Austin; sister-in-laws, Jo Lois Mercer of Seguin and Nell Mercer of Early; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, George Barnes; parents, Ura and Mary Anna “Polly” Mercer; brothers, Edward and Jack Mercer and sister, Ivor Fowler Mills.

Mr. Pfeil was born July 20, 1905, in Cibolo to Edward and Anna Pfeil. He married Linda Beyer on June 16, 1926. 
He was a member of Bexar and Germania Bowling Club, Zuehl Lodge Hermann Sons and Redeemer United Church of Christ.
Hugo is survived by his daughter Vernell Schultz and husband Vernon of New Braunfels; sister Lonie Loeffler of Seguin; brother Alvin Buddy Pfeil and wife Rosa Lee of Zuehl Community and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Pfeil; brothers, Arthur and Herbert Pfeil and sister Lena Lehman.

Lovie Lee Barnes
Lovie Lee Barnes passed away September 11, 2002, in San Antonio.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 15, 2002, at 3 p.m. at Kingsbury United Methodist Church in Kingsbury, Texas, with the Rev. Sue Abold and the Rev. Nell Linebarger officiating. 
Interment will follow at Fentress Community Cemetery in Fentress, Texas. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with family receiving friends 5-7 p.m. at Goetz Funeral Home.
Mrs. Barnes was born August 27, 1914, in Guadalupe County to Ura and Mary Anna “Polly” Mercer. She worked for Montgomery Wards for 24 years as Manager and District Manager. She was a member of Kingsbury United Methodist Church. “She will be greatly missed as a mother, grandmother and best friend.”
Lovie is survived by her daughters, Barbara Behal and husband Mike of Seguin, Pat Grigg and husband Larry of Seguin and Gayle Barnes of San Antonio; grandchildren, Annette Behal Groweg and husband John of Houston, Heath Grigg of Hunt and Brittney Grigg of Austin; sister-in-laws, Jo Lois Mercer of Seguin and Nell Mercer of Early; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, George Barnes; parents, Ura and Mary Anna “Polly” Mercer; brothers, Edward and Jack Mercer and sister, Ivor Fowler Mills.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kingsbury United Methodist Church, National Multiple Sclerosis Society and/or Fentress Community Cemetery Association.

Charlie Mollenhauer
Charlie Mollenhauer, 74, of Seguin died Friday, Sept. 13, 2002.
Visitation was held Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002, from noon to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 15, 2002, at Goetz Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Lonnie Phillips and the Rev. Tom Bruns officiating. 
Graveside services and interment with military honors under the auspices of American Legion Post #245 will follow at San Geronimo Cemetery. Charlie was born Oct. 4, 1927, in Seguin, to Charlie and Thekla Clarner Mollenhauer. 
He served in the United States Navy from 1946 to 1965 during WWII and Korean War. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and American Legion Post #245. 
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Otto Hugo Mollenhauer and his sister, Louise Bode. 
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Betty Mattke Mollenhauer; daughters, Brenda Morrison and husband Bryan, Rebecca Blair and husband Walter; son, Robert Mollenhauer and wife Diane; granddaughters, Julie Torres and husband Kenneth, Sara Smith and husband Nathan, Katrina Morrison, Megan Blair and Heather Blair; one great-grandson and one great-granddaughter; and sisters, Nell Finch and Annie Ploetz. 
For those who desire, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, First United Methodist Church in Seguin or Hospice of Guadalupe Valley Hospital.

A. B. Cover, 83, passed away Sept. 13, 2002, in San Antonio, Texas. Visitation will be held Monday, Sept. 16, 2002, from 6-9 p.m., at Sunset Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002, at 10 a.m., at Cover Cemetery, 9131 New Sulphur Springs Rd.
Mr. Cover was born Dec. 16, 1918, in Bexar County to Robert and Lulu Cover. He was a WWII veteran and a member of the Masonic Lodge #109, Alzafar Shrine, Director Emeritus of San Antonio Livestock Association and Seguin Hermann Sons Lodge #37.

Cover is survived by his wife, Charline Cover; son, Buck Cover and his wife Nancy of New Braunfels; daughter, Joy Sullivan and her husband Robert of Seguin; sister, Virginia Barnhill and Ruth Crow of San Antonio; sister-in-law, Rosabel Cover; granddaughter, Deborah Reich and husband Jerry of Port Washington, Wisc.; great-grandson, Philip Strauss; and many cousins, nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly.
He is preceded in death by his brothers, Williams and Steele Cover.
