GILMER - Services for Opal Elizabeth Davis, 87, of Gilmer will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 21, at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer with the Rev. Terril Pearson and the Rev. Donald Puckett officiating. Burial will be in Old East Mountain Cemetery. Mrs. Davis died Wednesday, March 18, 1998, in Gilmer. She was born Sept. 11, 1910, in East Mountain and lived most of her life in Upshur County. On Aug. 23, 1924, she married Hughlene Davis in Gilmer. She was a homemaker and a member of the Assembly of God Church. Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, Hughlene, in 1991, and by one brother and four grandsons. She is survived by two sons, R.W. Davis of East Mountain and Paul J. Davis of Union Grove; two daughters, Dorothy Puckett of East Mountain and Ollie Hill of Gilmer; 10 grandchildren; numerous great-grand-children and great-great-grand- children; three brothers, Claudis Medlin and Landis Medlin, both of East Mountain, and Douglas Medlin of Gilmer; and two sisters, Ruby Salter of Kaufman and Jessie Harris of Gilmer. Pallbearers will be Scott Davis, Jerry Davis, Rodney Davis, Corbitt Puckett, Tommy Hill, Shane Orms, Stephen Hill and Jeff Hill. Visitation is 7-9 p.m. today, March 20, at the funeral home.

Donald Ray Foster
GLADEWATER - Graveside services for Donald Ray Foster, 66, of Gladewater will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Gladewater Memorial Park with the Rev. Don Mears officiating. Mr. Foster died Tuesday at his residence. Born April 19, 1931, in Copeland, Kan., he was a member of the Worldwide Church of God and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Visitation is 9 a.m.-noon Saturday at the funeral home.

Nellie Gage Lee
Funeral services for Nellie Gage Lee, 86, lifetime resident of Longview, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 21, at the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Longview with Dr. David Mindel officiating. Interment will follow in Gum Springs Cemetery. Mrs. Lee died Thursday, March 19, 1998, in a local nursing home. Mrs. Lee was born April 22, 1911, in Harrison County in the Gum Springs community. She and her husband owned and operated the Quick Cleaner Laundry for many years. Mrs. Lee was a member of Woodland Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul W. Lee, and a granddaughter, Marjorie Gibson Browne. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Juanita and Joe Gibson of Longview and Edith and Don Wilson of Longview; a sister-in-law, Johnie Gage of Longview; a granddaughter and her husband, Donna and Tony McGuire; and six great-grandchildren. She died Thursday morning, March 19, 1998, in a Longview hospital. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today, March 20, at the funeral home. Mrs. Lively was born May 24, 1944, in Palestine, Texas, and had been a resident of Jefferson for the past four years, moving from Longview. She was a homemaker and a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She was a member of the Church of the Holy Trinity United Church of Christ in Longview. Mrs. Lively is survived by her husband, A.D. Lively of Jefferson; two daughters, Cynthia Carol Hicks of Buda, Texas, and Audra Diane Wells of Jefferson; her sisters, Shirley Moore of Longview and Ann Plat, Lela Calloway, Patsy Black and Tammy Young, all of Palestine; two brothers, Mark and James Kirkwood of Palestine; her parents, J.O. and Sallie Kirkwood of Palestine; and two granddaughters, Victoria Wells and Bethany Hicks. He was retired from Boeing Aircraft. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Mr. Ray died Wednesday, March 18, 1998, in Tyler. He was born Jan. 25, 1921, in Upshur County, Texas, where he lived most of his life. He was a truck driver and a member of Pritchett Church of Christ. Mr. Ray served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He is survived by his wife, Luretta Ray of Shady Grove; son, Lynn Ray of Gilmer; daughter, LeAnn Nash of Texarkana, Texas; stepdaughters, Wanda Denton and Kathy Gage, both of Shady Grove; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Claude Ray Jr. of Pritchett; and sister, Juanita Bullard of Hitchcock.

Interment will follow at Memory Park Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Family members will be receiving friends this evening from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. A lifetime resident of Longview, Julia was born Oct. 3, 1920, to Rod and Harriet Bardwell. For much of her life she was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Daughters of the Nile. She was a lifetime member of the Winterfield United Methodist Church. A devoted wife and mother, Julia will be most remembered for her dedication to family and friends. She was a generous contributor to many philanthropic organizations. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Art Stubbs; a daughter, Jeanene Black of Hallsville; a son, Danny Black of Longview; a daughter, Harriet "Connie" Mijalis of Longview; a daughter and son-in-law, LaJean and Daniel Sturman of Fort Worth; and a sister and brother, Evie Ponder and Bedford Bardwell, both of Longview. Julia was blessed with eight grandchildren and with 11 great-grand- children. She will be greatly missed. Kenneth E. Falconer

Born Nov. 19, 1925, in Longview, he was a U.S. Marine veteran of World War II and a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He retired from Texas Eastman Co. after 38 years of service. Mr. Falconer was an active freemason. He was past master and life member of the Longview Masonic Lodge #404 A.F. and A.M. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Loudene Falconer. Lawrence L. 'Larry' Hawkins
KILGORE - Services for Lawrence L. "Larry" Hawkins, 77, of Liberty City will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Rader Funeral Home Chapel in Kilgore with the Rev. Jim Dorrough officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. in the Oakland Memorial Park Cemetery in Terrell. Mr. Hawkins died Sunday, March 22, 1998, at Columbia Longview Regional Hospital. Mr. Hawkins was born in Campbell, Texas, on May 23, 1920. In high school, he earned the rank of Eagle Scout and also served as a Scout Master. He served as a second lieutenant in the ROTC and later in the Army as a Master Sergeant during World War II. Mr. Hawkins retired as vice president of Southern Microfilm in Houston. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Kilgore and was active in the Golden Circle Sunday School class. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Mabel Hawkins, and one brother, Thomas Hawkins. Survivors include his wife, Margie LaRue Hawkins of Liberty City; two sons and daughters-in-law, Pat and Annette Hawkins of Houston and Don and Charmaine Hawkins of Colleyville, Texas; two brothers, Robert Hawkins of Fort Worth, Texas, and John Hawkins of Terrell; three grandchildren, Randy Hawkins, Cheryl Dietz and Brandon Hawkins; and one great-grandson. Larry Grayson officiating. Burial will be in Grace Hill Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. She died Monday morning at a Carrollton nursing home. Mrs. Smith was born Jan. 8, 1906, in Lanier, Texas, to a pioneer East Texas family, John and Eunice Fant Dodd. She was a Longview resident from 1943 to 1988, when she moved to Lewisville to be near her daughter. She was a member of the Iris Garden Club, the Forum, and the First Baptist Church where she was involved in the children's ministry and the Women's Missionary Union. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Jerry Crossland of Lewisville; son and daughter-in-law, John Dodd and Helen Smith of Giddings, Texas; grandchildren, Bryan Smith, Cathy Smith, Jana Crossland and Jennifer Crossland; great- grandchildren, Garrett and Rachel Smith; and a sister, Johnnie Nelson of Irving.
