Judith Farley Turner 1940-2001 Judith Farley Turner passed away on November 7, 2001 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Waco, Texas on February 11, 1940; she came to El Paso with her family and spent her life here finishing school, and raising her family. She was very active in real estate during the 70's. Since that time she was an independent business owner. She is survived by her husband, Johnny Turner, her three sons and their wives: Dow Farley and wife Krystyne, Mitch Farley and wife Bella, and Trevor Farley with wife Renee. Judy is also survived by Johnny's children: Christian Turner and wife Sultan, Todd Turner and wife Sharon, and Marjey Sell with husband Phil. She is also survived by one sister Nonna Lee and husband Ray, ten grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Ora Lee Chaney, sister Ruth Hunt, brother Bob Chaney, and her son's father, Quincy Farley. Visitation will be held at Martin Funeral Home Central at 3839 Montana, on Sunday November 11, 2001, from 4 to 9 p.m. Graveside services only at Evergreen East, 12400 Montana on Monday November 12, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. Judy will be missed by all of us whose lives she touched.

MOISES RESENDIZ, 45, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2001 in Midland Texas. Mr. Resendiz was a resident of El Paso for 17 years and was a truck driver for the Robles and Sons Demolition Company. He is survived by his wife Rosa L. Resendiz, his son Moises Resendiz, his daughters Yadira Resendiz, Jacqueline Resendiz, Nayeli Resendiz, his mother Maria Isabel Cabrera, his brothers Benjamin Resendiz, Isaias Resendiz, Eleazar Resendiz, Gonzalo Resendiz, his sisters Sofia Resendiz, Esperanza Resendiz, Maria Guadalupe Resendiz Mota, Luisa Resendiz. Visitation will be Sunday, November 11, 2001 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Del Carmen Funeral Home Chapel "A". ELMER BOLTON KENNEDY, Colonel U.S. Army. Resident of El Paso 38 years. Born in Fort Des Moines, Iowa, April 25, 1911. Graduate of Auburn University in Chemical Engineering and was an Engineer with Civil Conservation Corps. Landed on D-Day with the 101st Airborne Division and fought in the Battle of Bulge in Bastogne. He was an instructor at the Air Defense School and a Commander Range Command at Ft. Bliss. He taught mathematics at Andress High School. He was preceded in death by his wife, Letitia and sisters Kathleen Dibble and Marguerite Gressemer. Survivors include his sons, John of Aberdeen, Maryland and Charles of Santa Clara, California. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery.

LOUISE HINES, 94, passed away November 10, 2001, preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Virgil, and son Gordon. She died on the 8th anniversary of the death of her beloved husband. Born in McKinney, Texas on January 6, 1907, she and Virgil resided in Dallas for 50 years before moving to El Paso in 1992. Survived by daughter, Carolyn Jurey, grandchildren Neil Johnson, wife Ele and daughter Sabrina; Lisa Johnson, great-grandson Sebastian Bettencourt, all of El Paso; Gordon Hines, Jr. and wife Lisa and great- grandson, Connor of Coppell, TX; Mark Hines and wife Julie of Minnetonka, Minnesota. Mrs. Hines was a member of the Faith Bible Class at First Baptist Church in El Paso. Prior to moving to El Paso, she was a member of Cliff Temple Baptist Church in Dallas for 50 years and was WMU President from 1944-1945. Valedictorian of her senior class, she graduated from Business College and went to work for the Ford Agency. In 1960 she began working for the Dallas Independent School District, retiring in 1972. She was a loving Mother and superb cook. A long time member of Eastern Star, a P.T.A. President, Cub Scout Leader, she served the Camp Fire organization for 10 years. Until recent, she maintained her independence, despite being legally blind for the last 17 years. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, November 13, 2001 First Baptist Church, Dr. Levi Price, Jr. officiating. Graveside Services will be held at 1:30 pm Saturday, November 17, 2001 at Laurel Land, Dallas, TX. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, El Paso, TX or Cliff Temple Baptist Church, Dallas, TX. 

WALTER EDWARD SCHNEIDER, 72, born on May 29, 1929 in Groom, Tx., passed away Saturday, November 10, 2001 in El Paso. He worked for General Electric X-Ray in June of 1956 and moved to El Paso in 1957. He later became a partner in Holmes & Schneider Inc. where he worked for several years. He then formed his own company Accutron and most recently had been owner of Med-Tech Part Sales. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served from March of 1951 to December 1955, serving during the Korean War. Mr. Schneider married Joan Schaefer in November 1950 in Linn, Mo. Then he later married Monica Houghton in May 1982, she preceded him in death in 1992. He is survived by his sons, Daniel Schneider and William Schneider. Daughters, Karen Carr, Janet Schneider, Elaine Schneider and Donna Krupinski. 13 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren. Sisters, Viola Keller of Amarillo, Tx. and Donna Brockman of Ft. Rucker. MRS. LEONOR M. MORALES, 93, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2001 in a local hospital. She was a longtime resident of El Paso and a member of the Catholic Church. Mrs. Morales was preceded in death by her husband Joaquin Morales. She is survived by her sons, Salvador Ballinas Jr. and wife Elvira, Joaquin Morales Jr., and wife Laura. Daughters, Alicia B. Aldana and husband Manuel and Beatrice Rice. Grandchildren, Manny Aldana Jr., and wife Martha, Dolores Licon and husband Arturo, Margie Gomez and the late Angel Gomez, Grace Aldana and Tim, Shane Morales and wife Michelle, Shannon DeWeerd and husband Michael. 11 Great Grandchildren. PAMELA ANN SANDERS returned home to our Lord and Savior Sunday, October 11, 2001. Pamela was a very devoted, loving wife and mother. She is survived by her husband Elzie Owen Sanders, Jr. of El Paso, daughter Tammy Renne Sanders of Austin, TX., James Ray Parker of Cost Mesa, CA, Donald Owen Sanders of Austin, TX. Her mother Mary Elizabeth Hale, sisters Patsy Faye Brisentine, Mary Christine Hale, Paula Jean Hale & brother Robert Lynn Duff, all from Humboldt, TN. Visitation will be held at Martin Funeral Home Tuesday 13, from 4PM until 9PM with a prayer service at 7PM in El Paso. Afterwards a graveside service will be held at Rose Hill cemetery in Humboldt, TN on Thursday, November 15, 2001. Pamela worked as an instructor at Community College for 15 years and worked with the X-Ray Department at Providence Memorial Hospital. The family wishes to thank the many friends who have called and come to visit and express their love during Pam's final days. Pamela was loved and will be missed by many. 

ANTHONY RAY BLACK, 16, passed away November 9, 2001. He was a former resident of El Paso. Anthony worked at Dough Roller Restaurant in Crofton, Maryland. He was a Junior Volunteer at Sierra Medical Center and loved to play basketball. Anthony is survived by his mother, Jennifer Westphal-Black; father, Ray and wife Dottie Black; grandmothers, Lynne Futrell and Erika Black; great grandmother, Jennie Lawson; twin sister, Sarah Black and sister Logan Colton; brother, Kevin Colton. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 14, 2001 at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery.

ELSIE B. GOLDFIEN, 80, a retired bookkeeper, passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2001 in Arlington, Texas. She was born December 31, 1920 in El Paso, Texas to Joseph and Anita Benjamin. Survived by her sons David Goldfien and Max Goldfien both of El Paso; daughters Irene Gordon and Annette Goldfien both of Arlington; 10 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and sister Ruth Grossman of Pittsburgh, PA. Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, November 14, 2001 at 2:30 P.M. at B'Nai Zion Cemetery. MRS. CONCEPCION GONZALEZ, 97, passed away November 11, 2001. She was a longtime resident of El Paso and a member of the Catholic Church. Mrs. Gonzalez was preceded in death by her husband Juan Gonzalez, her sons Augustine, Reynaldo and Joaquin. Survived by her sister Socorro Huerta, her sons Isabel Gonzalez, Carlos Gonzalez (Irma) daughter Matilda Gonzalez, Amparo Munoz (Bernabe), 16 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren. ALFREDO JAIME, 72, passed away Saturday, November 10, 2001 in a local hospital. He was a longtime resident of El Paso and was a member of the Catholic Church. Mr. Jaime was a retired dry wall sub-contractor. He is survived by his wife Juana Jaime. Sons, Alfredo Jaime, Jr., Gerardo Jaime, and Jerardo Cordero. JOHN P. LINCOLN, 46, passed away on November 10, 2001 at his home in Boerne, Texas. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri on January 16, 1955. John never met a stranger and touched the lives of all those he met. He will be remembered for his compassion and generosity to others. He is survived by Cissy Lincoln of San Antonio, his mother Barbara (Richard) Kusserow of El Paso, and his father Charles (Delia) Lincoln of Van Horn. HOLLIS MARTIN, 83, passed away October 30, 2001. Survivors include Evelyn Martin, one brother LaRoy Martin of Seattle, one sister Alma Allison South Carolina. His body was donated to the Texas Tech School of Medicine. No services are planned. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Cancer Society.

ANA R. MENDOZA, 67, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2001 in Oro Valley, Arizona. She was a former resident of Anthony, New Mexico and was a member of the Catholic Church. Mrs. Mendoza is survived by her sons, Sergio Mendoza, Faustino Mendoza, Ramon Mendoza and Juan Mendoza. Daughter, Maria Ramirez. 18 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren. Jose Maria Romero, 81, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2001. Longtime resident of El Paso, Texas. Mr. Romero was a U.S. Army and Navy Veteran of World War II and member of the Catholic CHurch, retired from Civil Service as a plant operator after many years of service. Survived by wife of 51 years Guadalupe R. MARIA CABRERA BARRAZA, passed away on Tuesday, November 13, 2001. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Her family and grandchildren will miss her and will keep "Abuela" in their hearts. ERNESTINA MATA JAIME, 82, passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2001. Born in Jimenez, Mexico, she was a lifelong El Paso resident and devoted her time to her family and home. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Manuel, Reyes and Lorenzo; 8 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; brothers, Pedro and Jesus Mata; sisters, Consuelo Lopez, Esperanza Urtaro and Guadalupe Aguilera along with other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday at Sunset Funeral Home East, with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. The Mass of the Resurrection will be said at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1050 N. EMMETT L. BRACEWELL JR (Bracey), 72, passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2001. Longtime resident of El Paso, Texas, Mr. Bracewell (Bracey) was a retired conductor for the Southern Pacific Railroad for 47 years, also served 2 years in Korea War 1950. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, UTU, member of the First Christian Church. Mr. Bracewell loved going to Las Vegas, enjoyed reading the newspaper and a great fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Survived by wife of 11 years Phylis Bracewell, son Ronald and wife Patricia Bracewell, step-sons Timothy Gene Foucher, James Glen Wallace, Roy Lee Francione, daughter Robbie Kay and husband Jay Walker, step-daughter Laura Diann Stelling, grandchildren John Lauton Ray, Jennifer K. Ray, Amber M. Ray, Melissa J. Walker and Robbie Mae Zaragoza, great grandchildren Ashleigh Marie Grew and Shawn Tyller Grew. Maria Luisa Close, 101, passed away November 4, 2001 in Houston, Texas. Mrs. Close was preceded in death by her daughter, Maria Antonieta Barrueta on Aug. 5, 2001. Maria Luisa is survived by three grandchildren- Marie Antoinette Barrueta, Houston, Texas, Mike Barrueta Jr., Dallas, Texas and Ernie Barrueta, Boston, Massachusetts. She was affectionately known as "Pretty Mama" by her 3 grandchildren. Her 8 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren however usually chose to call her Mama Luisa. Maria Luisa Close retired from the Popular Dry Goods Department store and had lived at the Chelsea Retirement Home until she was 99. Until her death, She had been cared for by Marie Antoinette Barrueta, in Houston and will be brought to El Paso for burial. During the last twelve months, she had also resided with Oscar & Helen Maldonado, her great grandson and wife in Houston, Texas. Rosary services will be Friday, November 16, 2001 at 7:00 PM at Harding, Orr & McDaniel Funeral Home, 320 Montana. Interment at Restlawn Mausoleum will take place after a 9:00 AM funeral mass at St. Patricks Cathedral on Saturday November 17, 2001.

INFANT ASHLEY ORTEGA, passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2001. Ashley is preceded in death by maternal great grandfather Jesus Guijarro paternal great grandfathers Benjamin Parada and Eladio Ortega. Survived by parents Richard and Veronica Ortega, maternal grandparents Humberto and wife Oralia Guijarro, paternal grandparents Fernando and wife Bertha Ortega, maternal great grandparents Jose S. and wife Ana Maria Hernandez and Jesusista Guijarro. Paternal great grandmothers Rosario Parada and Soledad Ortega, Godparents Ruben and Oralia Salazar, Luis Miguel and Becky Ann Cervantes aunts and uncles, Adrian Guijaro, Linda Guijarro, Humberto Guijarro and Elsa Guijarro and cousins. Ashley will lie in state Thursday, from 8:00 a.m. until 9:15 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home Central. Mass of Angels will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. O.L. (JACK) FLEMING, 80, passed away Sunday November 11th in a local hospital. He was born Sept 15, 1921 in Waxahachie, Texas & was a graduate of Waxahachie High. A resident of El Paso for 33 years, 28 years in Canutillo. He served in WWII as a Paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne and was a prisoner of war for 2“ years in Germany receiving the Bronze Star & Purple Heart. He drove 35 years for Grayhound Bus Lines before retiring in 1982. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 1111, ex P.O.W. & VFW, member of the baptist church. Survived by wife, Doris H. Fleming, daughter & son in law, Carol & Larry Smith of Plano, TX; son, Jim Fleming of Canutillo, TX; granddaughter Adria Smith of Dallas, TX; sister Syleta Brooks of Plano, TX. Visitation will be Tuesday 5-7 P.M. at Harding Orr & McDaniel Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held Wednesday 1:00 P.M. at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery with military honors. EVA O. REYNA, 72, passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2001 in a local hospital. She was a lifelong resident of El Paso. ANGELINA A. CASTANEDA, 90, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2001. Longtime resident of El Paso, Texas and member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Preceded in death by husband Andres A. Castaneda of 59 years. Survived by daughters Matilde, husband Joe Stires, Roberta, husband Sabino Sierra, Lupe, husband Ed Uribe and Gloria, husband Ruben Navarro. Thirteen grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren, several brothers and sisters. Lena spent 28 years volunteering for the Red Cross in Army Hospitals and received the Red Cross Clara Barton Award for her dedication and hard work which was very meaningful to her. DOLORES A. ARELLANO, 104, passed away on Monday, November 12, 2001. She was a longtime resident of Clint. Preceded in death by her husband Felipe Arellano and two sons, Felipe and Refugio Arellano, Mrs. Arellano is survived by her sons: Isabel, Agustin, and Juan Arellano; daughters: Ramona and Trinidad Arellano and Guadalupe Lynge. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. RICHARD ZANE BLACK, 72, lifelong resident of El Paso passed away Monday November 12, 2001. He was born in Clint, Texas on June 03, 1929. He was a cattle dealer. Richard is preceded in death by his daughter Sandra Kay and by his brothers Jack and Ralph Black. He is survived by his four sons and one daughter. Richard Black, Jimmy Black and Cheryl Kinley of Oregon State. Also Thomas and Duff Black of El Paso. Other survivors include his seven grandchildren, his brother Billy Black and his sister Joyce Loera of El Paso. Maria Luisa Close, 101, passed away November 4, 2001 in Houston, Texas. Mrs. Close was preceded in death by her daughter, Maria Antonieta Barrueta on Aug. 5, 2001. Maria Luisa is survived by three grandchildren- Marie Antoinette Barrueta, Houston, Texas, Mike Barrueta Jr., Dallas, Texas and Ernie Barrueta, Boston, Massachusetts. She was affectionately known as ŠPretty MamaŠ by her 3 grandchildren. Her 8 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren however usually chose to call her Mama Luisa. Maria Luisa Close retired from the Popular Dry Goods Department store and had lived at the Chelsea Retirement Home until she was 99. Until her death, She had been cared for by Marie Antoinette Barrueta, in Houston and will be brought to El Paso for burial. During the last twelve months, she had also resided with Oscar & Helen Maldonado, her great grandson and wife in Houston, Texas. OFELIA B. HAKIM, 82, passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2001 in a local hospital. Mrs. Hakim was born on February 1, 1919 in Odessa, Texas. Her family moved to El Paso in the early 1920's. She had been a resident of Canutillo, Texas. Mrs. Hakim was a member of the Catholic Church. Before her retirement in 1992, Mrs. Hakim was owner and manager of the Broadway Store in Canutillo, Texas. She worked and managed the store for more than 50 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Abraham Hakim. She is survived by her daughter, Rose Hopper and husband, Michael; sons, James Hakim and wife Ofelia and Lou Hakim and wife Barbara all of El Paso. She is also survived by a brother, Alfredo Barrios of Canutillo, Texas, and also is survived by grandchildren, Marcus A. Hopper, Kenneth V. Hopper, Deric Hakim, Kristin Chavez, James Hakim Jr., Brenda L. Gutierrez; great grandchildren, Zachary D. Chavez, Jacob C. Chavez and Ethan S. Hakim. CHARLES CLOVIS LAWYER, born October 14, 1923 in Freelandsville, Indiana. Retired military SFC served as a Combat Medic in the First Ranger Battalion formed by the U.S. Army. He served with honor in WWII, the Korean Conflict, and Vietnam. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving as a High Priest. He was preceded in death by his eternal sweetheart, Grace I. Lawyer, his son, David W. Lawyer, and his daughter, Carol Charlene Lawyer. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Tucker-Lawyer, his children, Karen Pettingill, Daniel Lawyer, Matthew Lawyer and Gracie Peters, their spouses, 19 grandchildren, and 9 great- grandchildren.
