|Virginia Ruth Bookout
GLEASON - Virginia Ruth Bookout, 84, of Gleason, died April 22, 2001,
at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis. Services were held at 2 p.m.
Wednesday at Gallimore Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dale Mathis officiating.
Burial was in Hopewell Cemetery.
Dale Stephens, Terry Stephens, Anthony Long, Bobby McDonald, Tim Matlock,
and Mark McReynolds served as pallbearers. Mrs. Bookout was
born January 29, 1917, in Dresden, to the late J.D. and Tommie Sawyers
White. She was a homemaker and a member of Gleason First Christian Church.
Survivors include three sons, Richard Bookout and Charles Bookout both
of Gleason and Terry Bookout of Old Hickory; three daughters, Joan Blaylock
and Cherie Francisco both of Gleason and Janice Hall of Cookeville; seven
grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband,
Elizabeth Parsons "Beth" Maloan
MARTIN - Elizabeth Parsons (Beth) Maloan, 48, of Martin, died April
27, 2001, at Methodist Healthcare Volunteer Hospital.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, at First United Methodist Church
in Martin, with the Rev. Paul McAdoo and the Rev. David Russell officiating.
Burial was in East Side Cemetery in Martin.
O.K. Smith Jr., Jimmy Harrison, Steve Shanklin, Gary Brown, John Collins,
Phil Dane, Joe Croom, Nick Dunagan, and Crawford Gallimore served as pallbearers.
Mrs. Maloan was born July 28, 1952, in Kernersville, N.C. She was a
budget director at the University of Tennessee at Martin and taught a class
She attend four years of college and was a member of the First United
Methodist Church in Martin.
Survivors include her husband, Chancellor Michael Maloan of Martin;
her mother, Mary Brown Parsons of Collierville; two daughters, Jennifer
Maloan and Jessica Maloan both of Martin; a brother, Grat (Bucky) Parsons
of Collerville; and two sisters, Anna Laughlin of Kernersville, N.C. and
Deborah Waldrup of Collierville.
She was preceded in death by her father, Grat Parsons.
Doris Oliver Mooring
TIPTONVILLE - Doris Oliver Mooring, 81, of Tiptonville, died April
28, 2001, at her residence.
Services were held at 11 a.m. today at First United Methodist Church
in Tiptonville with the Rev. Steve Cavitt officiating. Burial was in New
Haven Cemetery in Ridgely.
Jack Haynes Jr., Terry Jamison Jr., Ronnie Hayes, Johnny Vincent, Michael
Thompson, and Donnie Davis served as pallbearers.
Mrs. Mooring was a retired banker from First State Bank. She was a
member of First United Methodist Church in Tiptonville, Tiptonville Women's
Club, and Tennessee Porcelain China Painters Association.
Survivors include two sisters, Jean Vincent and June Thompson both
of Martin and a brother, Robert Morris Oliver of Martin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bedford Forrest Mooring.
Mary Frances Hunt Robinson
HOLT, Mich. - Mary Frances Hunt Robinson, 76, of Holt, Mich., formerly
of Martin, died April 23, 2001.
Services were held at 12 p.m. Friday, at Gorsline-Runciman Co. Lansing
Chapel in Lansing, Mich.
Burial followed in Deepdale Memorial Park in Lansing, Mich.
Mrs. Robinson was born November 15, 1924, in Martin, to the late Bufford
Lee Hunt and Lela Audrey Mitchell.
Survivors include her husband, Donald Robinson; two sons, Randy Ray
Robinson of Holt, Mich. and Ricky Lee (Mary) Robinson of Lansing, Mich.;
a daughter, Mary Jo (Endra) Norm of Hays, Mont.; four grandchildren, Joshua
(Charity) Norm, Pamela Norm, Brittany Rose Robinson and Michelle Marie
Robinson; a brother, B.W. (Norma) Hunt of Okemos, Mich.; and numerous nieces

Paul W. Todd
MARTIN - Paul W. Todd, 49, of Martin, died April 27, 2001, at Madison
County General Hospital in Jackson.
Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Monday at Hopewell Cemetery
in Gleason with the Rev. Wray Forrest officiating.
Leonard Todd, Randy Garner, Frank Vincent, Melvin Clark, Gaylon Bolton
and Chris Vincent served as pallbearers.
Todd was born June 25, 1951, in Martin. He was a laborer.
Survivors include his mother, Lucy Parsley Todd of Gleason; three daughters,
Sharon Todd, Karen Todd, and Paula Carol Todd all of Tennessee; and two
brothers, John Thomas Todd of Tulsa, Okla. and Leonard Todd of Dresden.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ruben Lee Todd.
William Orval "Fat" Travis
MARTIN - William Orval "Fat" Travis, 78, of Martin, died April 29,
2001, at VanAyer Manor Nursing Home.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today at New Salem Cemetery in
Sharon,with the Rev. Dayne Hawks officiating.
Travis was born October 16, 1922, in Corinth, Miss., to the late Feldon
and Bertha Stephenson Travis. He was a retired service station attendant
from Smith's Service Station, a WWII U.S. Army veteran, and a member of
the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Sue Everett Travis of Martin; a daughter,
Alice Faye Pickell of Memphis; and three grandchildren.
Lawrence Franklin Arnold
DRESDEN - Lawrence Franklin Arnold, 81, of Dresden, died Dec. 21, 2001
at Methodist Hospital in Martin.
Services were held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Bowlin Funeral Home with Rev.
Terry Griffin officiating. Graveside services were at 3:30 p.m. at Richlawn
Cemetery in Waverly.
Joe Estes, Jeff Owens, Mike Rudd, Ted Smith, James Owens, Todd Courson,
Mike Arnold, Chris Arnold, and Timmy Moultree served as pallbearers.
Arnold was born in Troy to the late Emmett Poole and Anna Lee Wallis
Arnold. He was a retired minister and general contractor and a member of
Liberty Baptist in Waverly.
Survivors include his wife, Octavia Alexander Arnold of Dresden; four
daughters, Rebecca Swinney and Carolyn Estes both of Dresden; Anna Ricks
of Little Rock, Ark., and Francis Rudd of Waverly; a son, Jerry Arnold
of Waverly; three sisters, Lula Mae Hobbs of Oklahoma, Mary Maurine McIntrye
of Fulton, Ky., and Lattie Eudora Gaines of Nashville; two brothers, James
Calvin Arnold of Troy and Raymond Carl Arnold of
Dresden; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandhcildren.
