Hensley was born January 11, 1913, in Sparta, the daughter of Roscoe and Minnie Bates Presley. She was a housewife.

Hensley was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Herbert Hensley; and her son, Gene Hensley.

Tolbert was born December 6, 1931, in White County, the son of William Rasco and Sarah Rachel Eldridge Tolbert. He was a farmer.

Clark was born January 15, 1928, in White County, the son of Herman and Eliza Bitha Ninnett Clark. He was employed by Southern Woods. He served in the marines.

Anderson was born September 5, 1920, in Pickett Co., the son of William S. and Bam Jones Anderson. He was a retired U.S. Postal mail carrier and served in the Army during World War II.

Alverson was born November 13, 1920, in White County, the son of Ulysses Smith and Mary Swindell Alverson. He was a retired worker of Sparta Electric. He served in the Army during World War II.
Services were Wednesday, September 27, 2000, with graveside services and burial in Bethlehem Cemetery. Brother Jim Scott officiated.
Alverson was preceded in death by wife, Beulah Cates Alverson.
Survivors include daughter, Sue A. Verble of Chattanooga; sisters, Essie Frasier of CA; June Clark of TX; grandchildren, Michelle Pratt; Melanie Glover; Jim Verble Jr. and Condice Verble.

Andrew Gray Wilson, 51, of Sparta passed away Monday, September 25, 2000.
Wilson was born December 27, 1948 in Wilmington, Delaware, the son of the late Paul E. Wilson III and Margaret Wilson Hersloff. He was an educator and farmer.
Services will be on Friday at 7:00 p.m. at Sparta First Baptist Church with Bob Mowrey, David Shelly, David McCulley and Ed Kay officiating.
His father, Paul E. Wilson III, preceded Wilson in death. Survivors include his mother, Margaret Hersloff of Easton, Maryland, wife, Susan Angela Wilson of Sparta, two daughters, Angela Nicole Wilson and Allison Scott Wilson both of Sparta, one brother, Paul Wilson of Naples, Florida, and one sister, Maggie Archer of Naples, Florida.

Presley was born June 11, 1930, in Sparta; the son of Thomas Edward and Era Elizabeth Chatman Presley. He worked maintenance for the City of Winter Haven, FL.
Graveside services were Monday, November 27, 2000, in Highland Cemetery. Boyd Roberts officiated.
Presley was preceded in death by his parents.

Dollie Ruth Knowles, 85, of Sparta passed away Friday, November 24, 2000.
Knowles was born July 9, 1915, in Sparta, the daughter of James Francis and Josie Elizabeth Bohannon Lamb. She was a homemaker.
Services were Sunday, November 26, 2000, in Thurman Chapel Funeral Home with burial in Rose Chapel. Brother Don Bailey officiated.
Knowles was preceded in death by husband, W.C. Knowles.
Survivors include daughter, Emily Gentry of Sparta and son-in-law, Donnie Gentry.

Ernest Mills, Jr.
Reverend Ernest Mills, Jr. age 86 passed away after an extended illness at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Howard and Geneva Thomason. He was born July 23, 1914 in Van Buren County, Tennessee, the son of Sammy Monroe and Mollie Bell Brock Mills. He is preceded in death by his parents, one son Byron Mills; one brother Julius Clinton Mills; and two wives, Anna Lee Davis Mills and Elma Lee Miller Mills.
Survivors include his daughter Geneva Thomason and her husband Howard. Also three granddaughters Linda Sue Kahl and husband, Butch; Karen Neal and husband Mitchell Duane; Pennie Shrum and husband Eugene all of Sparta. Five great grandchildren Jimmy Neal, Lesslie Neal, Bryon Shrun, Lakota Shrum and Ernest (Teddy) Kahl all of Sparta. Three nieces Dorothy Mills, Nancy Moss and Neva Hudson; three nephews Billy Wallace, Lynn Wallace and Donald Brock.
Reverend Mills was a retired minister of the Church of God and a long time Radio Minister in this area. He was a member of the Spencer Church of God.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, November 27, 2000 at 8 p.m. from the East Sparta Church of God. Graveside services were Tuesday November 28, 2000 from the Frasier Chapel Cemetery at 10 a.m. Those officiating the services were Brother Jason Graham; Brother Jerry Barnwell, Brother Jimmy Scott and Brother Bobby Scott, a representative of the Church of God in Tennessee. The committal service will be officiated by Brother Albert Smith and Brother Danny Sullivan.
Those privileged to serve as pall bearers Billy Wallace, Lynn Wallace, Donald Brock, Johnny Lee Sparkman; Wayne Sullivan and Junior Forsyth. Honorary pall bearers include Ted Winnett, Isacc Neal, W.C. Haston, Isaiah Allen, Lansford Forsythe, George Matheney, Jim Miller, Robert Cecil Wilson, Kenneth Peters, Loyce Mullican, James Brock, Tommy Bergthal and Lester Yates.

Phillips was born April 14, 1954, in Indiana, the daughter of James O. and Barbara Parker Bennett. She worked at Life Care Nursing Home in Sparta.

Phillips was preceded in death by her father, James O. Bennett.

Johnnie Lee Spake, 88 of the Powdersville Community passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2000.
Spake was born in Spencer, the son of the late Richard Lee and Docie Hitchcock Spake. Spake was a retired Master Plumber and was a member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 421. He was a charter member of Life Springs Church of God in Powdersville and the Adult Sunday School Class. Spake served in the U.S.Army during World War II.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Mildred Louise McGaha Spake; a son, John Spake of Monroe, GA; five daughters, Betty Rumbler Alsep of Piedmont, Clara Harlan of Simpsonville, Patricia Powell, Shirley Coley and Susan Nichols all of Westminster; a stepsister, Louise Burch of Easley; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Mr. Spake was predeceased by a daughter, Sandra Dianne Spake; a brother; and two sisters.
