BLACKWATER, Va. — Bob Berry, 65, entered into rest Sunday (Dec. 3, 2000) at Holston Valley Medical Center. 
Mr. Berry was born July 26, 1935, in Scott County, Va., and was a farmer. 
Mr. Berry was preceded in death by his parents, G.H. and Pansie Manness Berry, one son, Joe Berry; one brother, Ralph Berry; a granddaughter, Tabitha Dawn Berry; and two half-brothers, James Code Berry and Ed Berry, both of Blackwater, Va. 
Surviving are his wife, Nancy Berry, Blackwater, Va.; four daughters, Vivian Ann Berry, Linda Sue Berry, and Lilly Juanita Livesay, all of Blackwater, Va., and Betty Ann Berry, Sneedville, Tenn.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Junior Ray and Helen Berry, Gate City, Va., Jessie Lee and Leona Berry, Weber City, Va., and Robert Lee Berry, Blackwater, Va.; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; half-sisters, Dell Calton, Gate City, Va., Dolly Gilliam, Blackwater, Va., Bess Berry, Clinchport, Va., Mae Taylor, Clinchport, Va., Rose Edwards, Blackwater, Va., Bonnie Calton, Yuma, Va., Shirley Doss, Cowetta, Okla.; half-brothers, Charlie Berry, Jonesville, Va., and John Berry, Clinchport, Va.; and several nieces and nephews. 
Calling hours will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Gate City Funeral Home. 
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Evangelist Kenneth Neeley and Basil Manness officiating. 
Music will be by the Lee Smith Singers. 
Burial will follow in the Berry Family Cemetery, Blackwater, Va. 
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. 

Sandy Ann Burton
ROGERSVILLE — Sandy Ann Burton, 37, went to be with the Lord Friday (Dec. 1, 2000) at her residence. 
She was a member of Chuza Church. 
Surviving are a daughter, Mindy Mesarch; and son, Jamey Burton, both of Rogersville; parents, Dewey and Phyllis Burton, Rogersville; two brothers, Toney Burton and Ricky Burton, both of Rogersville; one sister, Amy Burton, Rogersville; grandmother, Ruth Smith, Rogersville; and several aunts and uncles.

Rhonda Sue Carter
FT. BLACKMORE, Va. — Graveside services for Rhonda Sue Carter, 37, who entered into rest Friday (Dec. 1, 2000) will be conducted at 12 noon today at Mann Cemetery, Ft. Blackmore, Va. 
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. 
The family will be meeting at the cemetery. 
Gate City Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. 

Velma Louise Cash
BRISTOL, Tenn. — Velma Louise Roller Cash, 94, died Friday (Dec. 1, 2000) at Bristol Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Cash was born May 12, 1906 in Sullivan County, Tenn. Mrs. Cash lived most of her life in the Sullivan and Washington County areas.
She was a member of Wheeler United Methodist Church. She retired from 40 years of service in the yarn division of Tennessee Eastman Company in Kingsport.
Mrs. Cash was the daughter of the late Adam and Ida Roller.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James B. Cash; two sisters, Edith Roller and Irene Mills; and one brother, Wesley Roller.
Mrs. Cash has one surviving sister, Ruby McClellan, of Kingsport; and several beloved nieces and nephews. 
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Akard Funeral Home, Bristol, or anytime at the homes of Ruby McClellan or Wallace McClellan.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Dennis Loy and the Rev. Douglas Drinnon officiating.
Entombment will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Tri-Cities Memory Gardens. 
Honorary pallbearers will be nephews and great-nephews.

KINGSPORT — Wallace Lawrence Clark, 68, died Sunday (Dec. 3, 2000) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.

Nannie Mae Collins
JONESVILLE, Va. — Nannie Mae McAlister Collins, 92, of the Wallens Creek Community, died Sunday (Dec. 3, 2000) at Lee County Community Hospital in Pennington Gap, Va. 
Born in Oliver Springs, Tenn., she was a resident of Lee County for most of her life. 
She was a homemaker and was of the Church of God faith. 
Surviving are three sons, David McAlister, Jonesville, Va., and Bob and Johnny McAlister, both of Wilkesboro, N.C.; daughters, Theda Stapleton, Dryden, and Cleo Newton, Pennington Gap, Va.; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. 
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Province Funeral Home, Pennington Gap, Va. 
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home sanctuary. 
Burial will follow at Lee Memorial Gardens, Woodway, Va. 
Pallbearers will be grandsons. 

Alma Lee Covert
KINGSPORT — Alma Lee Johnson Covert, 94, of 2900 Cliffside Road, was called home at 4:45 p.m. Sunday (Dec. 3, 2000). 
She was a native of Greeneville, Tenn. and had resided in Kingsport since 1930. 
Mrs. Covert had attended Tusculum College and had been a proofreader and society editor for the Kingsport Times-News in the thirties. 
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. 
She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton P. Covert. 
Surviving are one daughter, Brenda Collins and husband, Bill, of Piney Flats (formerly of Colonial Heights); two granddaughters, Sabrina Messer and Sonya Moore; and four great-grandchildren, Amanda and Johnathan Messer, and J.C. and Mason Moore. 
Calling hours will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church. 
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church with the Rev. Gary L. R. Bullard officiating. 
Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. 
Memorials may be given to First Presbyterian Church, Kingsport, Tenn., or to Zion Presbyterian Church, Greeneville, Tenn.

A graveside service for Gladys A. Daehler, Kingsport, who died Thursday (Nov. 30, 2000) will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday (Dec. 5, 2000) at Oakwood Cemetery, Dixon, Ill.

Jack Dibble
DUFFIELD, Va. — Mr. Jack Lee Dibble, 74, formerly of Lee County, Va., died Thursday (Nov. 30, 2000) at Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, N.C. 
Born in Dekalb County, Ga., he was the son of the late Oscar Adel and Venice Rutledge Dibble. He was an attorney. 
Mr. Dibble was the last surviving member of his family. In keeping with his wishes, services will be private.

KINGSPORT — Graveside services for Ruth Ann Fleenor, 58, who passed away Saturday (Dec. 2, 2000) will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Church Hill Memory Gardens.

George H. Goins
KINGSPORT — George H. Goins, 68, went to be with the Lord on Sunday (Dec. 3, 2000) at his residence after a short battle with cancer. 
A lifelong resident of Kingsport, he was employed with J.P. Stevens Co. for 40 years, retiring in 1987. 
Mr. Goins was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church. 
He was preceded in death by a son, Mike Goins; parents, George and Grace Goins; and a brother, Paul Goins. 
Surviving are his wife, Dot Goins, Kingsport; three sisters, Lois Berry, Ruby Jones, both of Kingsport, and Carolyn Chafin, Gray; two brothers, Donald Ray Goins, Church Hill, and Ira J. Goins, Mountain City; and several nieces and nephews.

Mae R. Johnson
KINGSPORT — Mae Roberts Johnson, 91, of 249 Lakeview Circle, died Sunday (Dec. 3, 2000) at her home after an extended illness. 
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Peggy Johnson and Dr. Stacy A. Duncan, of Dunn, N.C.; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Ed Roberts, Kingsport.

COLONIAL HEIGHTS — Graveside services for David Jack Ladd, 60, 557 Lebanon Road, who went to be with his Lord Thursday (Nov. 30, 2000) will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. today in East Lawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Charles Burton officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by Charles DeWitt Byrd Post No. 3382 of the VFW.

BLOUNTVILLE — A. P. Leonard, 99, of 293 Leonard Lane, died Saturday (Dec. 2, 2000) at Indian Path Medical Center. 
Mr. Leonard was of the Baptist faith, and was a loving father. 
Mr. Leonard was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Shaffer Leonard; a son, Albert Lester Leonard; a son-in-law, R.J. Woods; and a great-grandson, Mark C. Poss. 
Survivors include four daughters, Thelma Lee Woods and Eva Ketron, both of Kingsport, and Juanita Hicks and Madge Garland, both of Blountville; one son, Narvel Leonard, Bristol, Tenn. 
Also surviving are 16 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. 
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Akard Funeral Home, Bristol. 
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Andy Sensabaugh and the Rev. Perry Cleek officiating and Ed McClain singing.

Ruth Nichols
KINGSPORT — Ruth M. Tipton Nichols, 73, of Peers St., died at 8 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 2, 2000) at Indian Path Hospital after an extended illness. 
She was born in Hawkins County (Church Hill) and was previously employed at Rose’s Department Store for several years. 
She was a devoted mother and housewife. 
Mrs. Nichols was member of Christ Fellowship Church. 
She was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Nichols; one son, Ted Nichols; great-grandson, Zachary Nichols; and a daughter-in-law, Linda Tincher Nichols. 
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry Nichols and wife, Shirley, Church Hill; four grandchildren, Travis Nichols, Tasha Barr, Michelle McNally and Samantha Cupp; three great-grandchildren, Trevor Nichols, Jess and Erin McNally; one sister, Katherleen Smith, Kingsport; one brother, Lanny Tipton, Blountville; several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; and several nieces and nephews. 
Services will be conducted at 6 p.m. today at Christ Fellowship Church (exit 49, Rock Springs Rd., follow signs to church) with Pastor Greg DePriest and Pastor Jerry Ramsey officiating . 
The family will receive friends immediately after the service. 
Music will be provided by the church choir.

Forn R. Oliver
JONESBOROUGH — Mr. Forn R. Oliver, 87, of 364 Oak Hill Circle, died Saturday (Dec. 2, 2000) at the Unicoi County Memorial Hospital. 
He was a native of Carter County and the son of the late Elijah and Ema Buckles Oliver. 
Mr. Oliver was a retired truck driver for the Washington County Highway Dept. 
Survivors include his son, Rick Oliver, Johnson City; and several nieces and nephews. 
Calling hours will be from 6 to 7 p.m. today at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home. 
Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Bill Gourley officiating. 
Interment will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Fairview Cemetery.

C. J. Stapleton
PENNINGTON GAP, Va. — C.J. Stapleton, 75, died Saturday (Dec. 2, 2000) at Heritage Hall Health Care in Big Stone Gap, Va. 
Born in Lee County, Va., he was the son of the late Colonel and Mattie Stapleton. 
He was a resident of Ohio for several years, employed as a machinist for Delco in Dayton, before retiring to Lee County. 
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he was of the Baptist faith. 
Surviving are his special long-time friend, Margaret Lewis, Appalachia, Va.; two sisters, Stella Sproles and husband, A.W., and Marie Stapleton, both of Pennington Gap, Va.; one nephew, Ralph Sproles and wife, Doris; one niece, Teresa Wynn and husband, Danny; two great-nieces, Dee Dee and Monica; one great-great-nephew, Cole; and several cousins and friends. 
Calling hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Province Funeral Home in Pennington Gap, Va. 
Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. today in the funeral home sanctuary with Dr. Kenneth Ellis officiating.

Mamie Stinson
MOUNT CARMEL — Mamie Stinson, 89, passed away Saturday (Dec. 2, 2000) at Sunbridge Hillside Manor Nursing Home following an extended illness. 
Mrs. Stinson was a native of Lebanon, Va. but had spent most of her adult life in Hawkins and Sullivan Counties. 
She was of the Baptist faith. 
Mrs. Stinson, along with her late husband, John Stinson, owned and operated Stinson Service Station and Grocery in Mount Carmel for many years. 
She was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Stinson; son, Calvin Stinson; grandson, Roger Stinson; parents, William and Maggie Monk; sister, Lillie Stinson; and brother, Corbin Monk. 
Surviving are her daughter-in-law, Marie Stinson, Surgoinsville; two grandchildren, Teresa Greene, Rogersville, and Jerry Stinson, Church Hill; four great-grandchildren, Jason Stinson, Jimmy Stinson, Jeremy Greene and Jody Greene; four great-grandchildren, Lindsey Stinson, Jason Stinson, Carrie Stinson and Roger Stinson; brother, George Monk, Lebanon, Va.

WISE, Va. — Letcher Taylor, 53, passed away Saturday (Dec. 2, 2000) at the St. Mary’s Hospital in Norton, Va. 
He was a former employee of Poboy Construction and was of the Baptist faith. 
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fitzhugh and Nellie Smith Taylor; two brothers, Walter and Noy Taylor; two sisters, Francis Taylor and Della Newsome. 
Surviving are his wife, Nancy Hall Taylor; two daughters, Cynthia Bentley and Tina Mullins, both of Wise; a brother, Coy Taylor, Pound, Va.; five sisters, Dossie Stidham, Ramona Bloomer, both of Pound, Margie Howe, Charlotte, N.C., Marcel Dingus, Woodbridge, Va., and Gaynell Lane, Big Stone Gap, Va.; and three grandchildren, Letcher Wayne Taylor, Latasia Brooke Vanover and Casey McKenna Mullins.

William (Bill) Taylor
LEBANON, Va. — William Cummings (Bill) Taylor Sr., 71, of Route 1, died Saturday (Dec. 2, 2000) at the Russell County Medical Center. 
A lifelong resident of Russell County, he was a son of the late Hugh Howard and Evangeline Albert Taylor. He was a retired farmer and was a member of the Elk Garden United Methodist Church. 
Surviving are his wife, Jackquetta R. Taylor; one daughter, Rebecca Dye and husband, John, Lebanon; three sons, William Cummings Taylor Jr. and wife, Tammy, Lebanon; John Robert Taylor and wife, Pamela, Dry Branch, and Samuel Taylor, of the home; one brother, Robert Taylor, Tuscaloosa, Ala.; four grandchildren, Andrew Dye, Julia Dye, Samantha Taylor, and Zachary Taylor. 
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Combs Funeral Service, Lebanon, Va. 
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Paul Hite and the Rev. Larry Robinson officiating.

Services for Donnie (Don) R. Tucker, 61, of Kingsport, who died Saturday (Dec. 2, 2000), will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the chapel of Oak Hill Funeral Home with the Rev. David Luster officiating.

Mass of the Resurrection will be conducted at 10 a.m. today at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Charles Burton officiating. 
Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
