Services for Sherry VanMeter, 24, of Bradyville, who died Sunday, Jan. 17 [1999], at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. The Rev. Woodrow Medlock officiated.
She was the daughter of Nick and Shirley Nicholson of Christiana.
She is survived by her husband, Joe VanMeter; stepsisters Sheri Bickford of Murfreesboro, Rhonda Ryan of Smyrna; and a stepbrother Corey Nicholson of Smyrna.
A native of Rutherford County, she was a graduate of Riverdale High School.

Frank E. Short
Services for Frank E. Short of Smyrna, were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, from Woodfin Chapel in Smyrna with burial in Mapleview Cemetery. Dr. Kenneth Hubbard officiated.
Mr. Short died on Monday, Jan. 11, 1999, at Southern Hills Hospital.
A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late John Houston and Mary Lewis Short. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Mann Short, who died in 1991.
He is survived by two sons, Larry Short of Smyrna and Mike Short of Mt. Juliet; three daughters, Janice Todd of Lascassas, Beverly Hickerson of Brentwood, and Elaine Cawthon of Murfreesboro; a brother, Bruce Short of Smyrna; three sisters, Lucille Purcell and Gladys Alsup, both of Murfreesboro, and Elizabeth Harris of Columbia; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Short was a member of the Powell's Chapel Baptist Church and was retired from Avco.

Martin Harding
Services for Martin Harding, 69, of Smyrna, who died Friday, Jan. 15 [1999], at Middle Tennessee Medical Center, were held at 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17, at Silver Springs Baptist Church, with burial Tuesday, Jan. 20, at 10 a.m. at Silver Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Flora Blackman officiated.
He was preceded in death by a son, Michael "Duck" Alexander Harding.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Harding; by sons Charles "Tweet" Prince of Pontiac, Mich., Tommy "Peter" Harding and Clifton "Baby Bro" Lipscomb, both of Murfreesboro; by daughters Catherine Elaine Harding and Afrika Harris, both of Murfreesboro; brothers, Auther Avant, Robert Harding; a sister, Bobbie Woods; 19 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Harding was retired from Worthington Construction Co.

Danny McCormick
Services for Danny McCormick, 54, of Smotherman Drive in La Vergne, who died Friday morning at home, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 18, at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna, followed by burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late W.D. and Thelma Venoy McCormick.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy McCormick; two sons, Michael and Steve McCormick, both of La Vergne; four daughters, Sandra Felts of La Vergne, Tammy Whitlock of Smyrna, Teresa Hudson of Smyrna, and Jennifer McCormick of La Vergne; four sisters, Debbie Barlow and Connie Spurling, both of Springfield, and Brenda Newman and Sherry Measles, both of Smyrna; and nine grandchildren.
McCormick worked for Fluor Daniel at Nissan for 14 years.

Betty R. Jacobs
Services for Betty R. Jacobs, 45, of Central Valley Road, who died Thursday, Jan. 14 [1999], at Middle Tennessee Medical Center, will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Bill Swindell officiated.
She was the daughter of Edna Warrick Brewer of Murfreesboro and the late Onzie Brewer.
She is survived by her husband Bobby Jacobs; daughters, Crissy Porter and Casey Jacobs, both of Murfreesboro; brothers, Henry Brewer of Murfreesboro, Curtis Brewer and James Brewer, both of Milton; sisters, Darlene McCrary of Smyrna, Dorothy Thompson of Murfreesboro; and one grandchild.
A native of Rutherford County, she was a homemaker and graduate of Smyrna High School. She was a member of the Church of Christ and the Tennessee Brown Swiss Cattle Association.

James Willingham Jr.
Services for James Frank Willingham Jr., 68, of Smyrna, who died Tuesday, Jan. 12 [1999], at NHC HealthCare of Murfreesboro, will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 15, at First Baptist Church of Smyrna with burial in Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. The Rev. W.D. Thomason and Kenneth Hubbard officiated.
He was the son of the late James Frank Willingham Sr. and Ruby Truelove Willingham.
He is survived by his wife, Juanice Odom Willingham; brothers, Lewis Willingham of Kingsport, Kenneth Willingham of Johnson City, Charles Willingham of Elizabethton; and a sister, Barbara Hundley of Johnson City.
A native of Johnson City, he was a retired pilot of the U.S. Air Force from which he retired as a Major. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Smyrna.
Memorials may be sent to the Smyrna/La Vergne Unit of the American Cancer Society.

Earl McKnight Hudson
Services for Earl McKnight "Buck" Hudson, 88, of Lewisburg, who died Wednesday, Jan. 13 [1999], at NHC HealthCare Oakwood, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, at Partlow Funeral Home chapel in Lebanon, with burial in Milton Cemetery.
He was the son of the late Giddeon and Luzinia Weathley Hudson.
He is survived by sons, Joe Hudson of La Vergne, Roy Hudson of Lebanon; daughters, Glenda Manning, Opal Porterfield, both of Murfreesboro, Carol Barrett of Smithville, Polly Ross of Garland, Texas; 20 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
A native of Wilson County, he was a farmer and a grocer. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
