Mrs. Bruton was born in Gans, Oklahoma in 1906 and moved from Broken Bow, OK to Brentwood, TN in 1993. She was a member of First Christian Church in Broken Bow for 70 years and a member of First Christian Church in Nashville for 10 years. The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, October 6, 2002 at the BRENTWOOD CHAPEL. Memorial services will be conducted on Tuesday, October 8, 2002 at eleven o'clock in the morning for Mr. Waggoner at Hendersonville Church of Christ where he was a Deacon for more than 40 years. Bros. Keith Parker and Richard Waggoner will officiate. Visitation with the family will be Sunday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. in the parlor of Hendersonville Church of Christ. Mr. Waggoner died after a long Battle with cancer. He and his twin, Bill, were born December 9, 1919 near Lynchburg, TN to Ben and Susie Waggoner. He received both a Bachelor's degree and a master's degree from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. A veteran of WWII, he was a navigator with The Army Air Corps and flew humanitarian missions across Europe at the war's end. Mr. Waggoner was with the U.S. Milk Market Administration for more than 30 years. He taught Sunday School and was a part of the Church of Christ's foreign mission board as well as a volunteer for numerous causes. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lynn Waggoner; his son, Benny Waggoner of Fairfield, Iowa; his daughter, Jan Shuxteau of Hendersonville; grandson, Justin Shuxteau of Smyrna, TN; granddaughter, Avril Shuxteau of Hendersonville; step-grandchildren, Alex Devaiser, Danielle Hauptman and Eric Nelson, all of Fairfield; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Floy Toms of Waycross, GA; nieces and nephews. Upon graduation, he attended Vanderbilt University where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity and was a sophomore at the time of his illness. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he was involved in youth group activities, including mission work in Mexico. He had a lifetime passion for literature, music and sports.
