BELL, CHARLIE WESLEY - age 93, of 2301 Washington Ave., departed this life December 5, 1997, at Ft. Sanders Hospital. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He was retired from KUB. Preceded in death by wife, Georgia Love Bell; and son, Johnny Lee Bell. Survivors: children, Mary Jo Brown, Rockingham, N.C., Betty L. (Paul) McKinney, Blaine, Jessie L. (Dan H.) Harper, Knoxville; brother, S.T. BERTMAN, MARGARET IRENE - age 66, of Knoxville, passed away Saturday, December 6, 1997, at Windwood Healthcare Center in Clinton. She is survived by her children, Robert Belter, Allen Belter, Michael Belter, Debra Belter, Karen Szenecko, Patricia Belter, Kevin Belter and Brian Belter; eight grandchildren. BROWN, MRS. HELEN RUSSELL - age 86, of North Knoxville, died Friday, December 5, 1997. She was a member of Second United Methodist Church. Preceded in death by husband, Herman A. GREEN, MR. J. WILLIARD - age 73, of Wauchula, Fla., died Friday, December 5, 1997, in Wauchula. He was born in Lee Valley, Tenn. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Wauchula, and a World War II Navy veteran. He was co-owner of Pella Window Company in Dayton, Ohio, for 17 years. Mr. Greene was a member of the Wauchula American Legion Herger Williams Post #2, F&AM Lodge #5, Rogersville, Tenn., O.E.S. Chapter #179, Rogersville, Tenn. Survivors include his wife, Mattie Greene of Wauchula; one son, Larry Greene of Troy, Ohio; two daughters, Linda Hoover of Waco, Ky., and Libby Paxton of Mason, Ohio; one sister, Ruth Walker of Dayton, Ohio; eight grandchildren and one great-grandson. Funeral services for Mr. Green will be held Tuesday, December 9, 1997, at 3 p.m. at Colboch-Price Funeral Home in Rogersville. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery in Rogersville. HENSON, EDNA E. - age 88, a resident of Cleveland and formerly of Knoxville, died Saturday morning in a Cleveland hospital. A native of Knoxville, she was the daughter of the late John and Leona Hawk Richards and preceded in death by three sisters, Ella Mae Beeler, Bonnie Sexton and Mary Reed. She was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband, John Henson of Illinois; two daughters and sons-in-law, Vera and John Kinches of Cleveland, Tenn., and Carolyn and Martin Tindera of Cleveland, Ohio; three sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Joyce Henson of Washington, N.C., Jack and Gretchen Henson of Illinois, and John and Nancy Henson of Cleveland, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Graveside services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday in the Lynnhurst Cemetery in Knoxville with Dr. Charles Earl officiating. LEWALLEN, WILLIAM ELMER (LITTLE PAPAW) - age 62, of Knoxville, formerly of West Mont, Ill., passed away Saturday morning, December 6, 1997 at UT Hospital in Knoxville. Mr. Lewallen was retired from Hinsdale Sanitary District in Hinsdale, Ill., as a maintenance supervisor. He lived life to the fullest, always there for his family and friends. He will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by son, David Lewallen; parents, John and Minnie Tipton Lewallen. NIEMANN, L.C. (TEX) - of Dallas, Texas, died on November 19, 1997, after a short illness. Memorial services were held in Dallas on November 22, 1997. During a long career in manufacturing, Mr. Niemann moved to Tennessee in 1969 as the first plant manager of the Westinghouse Electric Corporation plant in Athens, Tennessee. He was a division manager of the Westinghouse Copper Wire Division in Abingdon, Virginia, and was manager of Parkway Furniture plant in Clinton, Tennessee. After retirement he resided in Knoxville from 1987 to 1994. Mr. Niemann was born in Priddy, Texas on December 10, 1927, the son of Louis and Helen Niemann. He graduated from Miles High School in Miles, Texas, in 1945 and from Midland Lutheran College in Fremont, Nebraska in 1952. He served in the Air Force from 1946-1949. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie of Dallas, Texas; daughters, Marcia Niemann and Carla Niemann of Dallas, Texas; daughter, Janice Wilson of Knoxville; four grandsons, Josh Ferguson, Daniel Ferguson and Alex Wilson, all of Knoxville, Max Daily of Dallas and sister, Adele Jeschke of Miles, Texas. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Rockwood, U.S. Army Veteran and Tennessee National Guard (Retired) where he had received numerous military awards and citations. Member of the National Rifle Association and a former Roane County banker. Preceded in death by parents, J.S. and Beatrice Wallace Spurling.
