BRIDGES, MARY RUTH NAUMAN - our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister joined the angels in heaven on Wednesday, June 11, 1997. Mrs. Bridges, who was 74, was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Charlie Clayton Bridges. She was an avid gardener, exceptional cook, seamstress, and devoted family guardian. She was a war bride who fabricated airplane carbeurators at Warner-Robins in Macon, Ga. while her husband served in the Army Air Force during World War II. Mrs. Bridges was a Presbyterian, and a member of the Beaver Ridge Chapter of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Bridges leaves three children, Lana Jo McElhaney of Farragut, Tenn., B. Gen. Gary Bridges of Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, and Darrell Bridges of McDonald, Tenn.; her five grandchildren, Martha Rogers, Kathy Hochwalt, Capt. Clay Bridges, Allison Bridges, and Sara Bridges; her four great-grandchildren, Dylan Rogers, Nicole Hochwalt, Clayton Gary Bridges II, and Aliena Bridges, her chihuaua, Misty; and her calico, Molly. Preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Volena Nauman; brothers, Herman, Junior, and D.M. Nauman, and sister Mildred Bailey, Mrs. Bridges leaves three brothers: Herbert, Carson, and Henry Nauman. The officiating minister will be Rev. Judson Shaw of Farragut Presbyterian Church. Services at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 14 at Mynatt's Chapel. Interment will be at Solway Memorial Methodist Cemetery. 

BUNDON, NINNON L. - age 89, of Knoxville, passed away at 5:15 a.m. on Friday, June 13, 1997, at Colonial Hills. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of Lincoln Park Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Cleotha Braden Bundon. Survivors: wife, Jessie S. Bundon; daughters, Eula (Mrs. Roy) Johnson, Merle (Mrs. Ben) Walker; son, Hubert Bundon and wife Bonnie Jean; step-daughter, Richie Bunch; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, L.W. Bundon; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service 8 p.m. Saturday, Berry Chapel, Rev. Ted Ingram officiating. Interment 2 p.m. Sunday, Cedar Grove Baptist Cemetery in Blount County. CROSS, FINLEY - age 84, of LaFollette, died Thursday, June 12 at the LaFollette Medical Center. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church of Caryville and the UMWA. Preceded in death by wife, Nancy Cross; and daughter, Reba North. Survivors: son, Chester Cross, LaFollette; seven daughters, Yvonne Cross, Jewell Tackett, Linda Bean, Lelia Smiddy, all of LaFollette, Patsy Price and Pauline Ward, both of Caryville, Margaret Hughes, Dayton, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Hazel Phillips, Caryville. Funeral services 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Cross Funeral Home, Rev. Edwin Phillips officiating. Interment 11 a.m. Sunday at Woodlawn Cemetery. DeRIDDER, JASON ABRAM - age 24, of Knoxville, died Wednesday, June 11, 1997, at U.T. Hospital. A member of John 23rd Catholic Church and an employee of T.V.A. EASTERLE, RALPH J. - age 82, of West Knoxville, formerly of Rochester, Mich., passed away Friday morning, June 13, 1997, at the Farragut Health Care Center in Knoxville. He retired in 1974 from General Motors Pontiac Division in Rochester. He was preceded in death by wife, June Bailey Easterle; brother, Rolland Easterle. Survivors: sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Linda Easterle of Atlanta, Ga., Richard and Mavourneen Easterle of Traverse City, Mich.; daughter, Linda Easterle of Rochester, Mich.; three grandchildren; brother, Earl Easterle of Ft. Myers, Fla.; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 3-4 p.m. Sunday followed by funeral services at 4 p.m. in the Click Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Dick DeMerchant officiating. FRANKLIN, MRS. NELLE BROCKWELL - age 97, formerly of Oakdale, passed away Thursday evening, June 12, 1997, in Johnson City, Tenn. Mrs. Franklin was a member of the Oakdale Baptist Church for many years and was a loving mother and grandmother and was loved by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Franklin; and son, Joe Franklin. Mrs. Franklin is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Lillian and Kenneth McCraken of Limestone, Tenn.; daughter-in-law, Frances Franklin of Knoxville; sister-in-law, Mary Ruth Brockwell of Limestone, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, Linda Houser, Carolyn Kinnick, Genise Adams, David McCraken, Jay Franklin, Randy Franklin and Anne Broyles; ten great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be held Saturday evening, June 14, 1997, 8 p.m. at Schubert Funeral Home Chapel, Wartburg, with Rev. Charles Kelly, Rev. Paul Broyles and Rev. Bill Young officiating. HOWELL, SHERMAN CARL - age 70, of Harriman, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 1997. He is survived by his wife, June Howell; son and friend, Dennis Howell and Debbie Burgess; son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Derita Howell; daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Robert Langley; two grandchildren, Keta Howell and Adam Langley. JOHNSON, OSCAR L., JR. ''SLIM, LUCKY DEVIL'' - age 57, passed away Thursday, June 12, 1997, at Ft. Sanders Regional Medical Center. U.S. Navy veteran, member of Chota Lodge #253 F&AM, Scottish Rite Mason, American Legion Post 2000 and Southern Independent Trucking Associaton. Mr. Johnson was owner and operator of Johnson Trucking Co. Preceded in death by parents, Oscar and Rochelle Johnson; son, Larry Riffey ''Bo'' Johnson. Survived by wife, Brenda Kay Whitehead Johnson; sons, Jason Johnson of Knoxville and John R. OGLE, WALTER VON (BUSTER) - age 59, of Knoxville, passed away at his home June 12, 1997. Preceded in death by parents, Thomas Ashley and Annie Bradley Ogle; brother, Thomas Ogle, Jr.; great-granddaughter, Ashley Diane Pate. Survived by wife, Shelby Ogle; daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Jim Buford, Ruth and Bill Pate, and Denise and Larry Jones; son, Walter Shane Ogle, all of Knoxville; brothers, Cleve and Jesse Ogle; sisters, Anna Bell Harmon, Betty Stinnette and Ruby Maples; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. RAMEY, FRANKLIN LAMAR ''FRANK'' - age 72, of Knoxville, died Friday, June 13, 1997. Member of Farragut Presbyterian Church where he served as elder, coordinator for men's fellowship, Shepherd Leader, and active in Mobile Meals. Retired from U.S. Military and U.S. Civil Service. Preceded in death by one brother, Gerald Ramey; and two sisters, Phyllis Van Tress and Cora McKinnis. Survivors: wife of 50 years, Deena Brown Ramey of Knoxville; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Cheryl Ramey of Colorado Springs, Colo.; daughters and sons-in-law, Stephanie K. and Mark Billings of Gifford, Ill., Jaryl Wonder of Colorado Springs, Colo., Teri and Ron Dix of Knoxville, Sheri Fletcher of Panama City, Fla., Lisa and Danny Hoch of Clearwater, Fla.; 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Bruce and Audrey Ramey of Lafayette, Ind.; sister, Mrs. Joe (Kay) Daugherty of Tulsa, Okla.; several nieces and nephews. RIGGS, PAULINE HUTSON - 76, of Clinton, died Thursday at Methodist Medical Center. Born January 13, 1921, in Andersonville, Tennessee. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Andersonville, Andersonville, Tenn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Carroll Riggs; her parents, Tom and Lucy Bell Hutson. Survivors include two daughters, Carol Ann and husband Sandy King of St. Louis, Mo., Vickie Riggs of Fountain City, Tenn.; two sons, Ronnie and wife Libby Riggs of Andersonville, Tenn., Larry and wife Pat Riggs of South Carolina; four sisters, Thelma Treece of Georgia, Kate Melton of Andersonville, Tenn., Lucille Hatmaker of Andersonville, Lucy Sharp of Andersonville; two brothers, Pete Hutson of Clinton, Luke Hutson of Florida; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; special cousin, Margueite Shaw of Georgia. RINES, BOBBI NELL BRENDLE - born March 13, 1915, went home on Thursday, June 12, 1997, at her home. She was a charter member of Black Oak Heights Baptist Church; member of Mabel Clement Sunday School Class, O.E.S. May Chapter 24. She was past church clerk and past president of Baptist Women's Missionary Society. She was preceded in death by husband, George W. Rines; parents, Fred T. and Laura Belle Brendle; sister, Gladys Walker of Williams Lake, British Columbia; brother, Fred Hayden Brendle of Burlington, Wash. Survivors: son, Roger Hayden Rines; daughter and son-in-law, Sheri Hope and David L. WALKER, FRED WAYNE, SR. - age 70, of Knoxville, passed away June 12, 1997, at Ft. Sanders Parkwest Hospital. He was a member of Central Baptist Church of Bearden and the Paul Walker Sunday School Class, Cherokee Lodge F.&A.M., the Knoxville Scottish Rite Bodies and a Shriner. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. Retired from Lockheed Martin Energy Systems, Inc. Y-12 plant in the environmental engineering department. He was preceded in death by his son, Fred Wayne Walker, Jr.; parents, John Wiley Walker and Nannie Eblen Walker; sister, Ruby Lee Walker; brother, Smith Walker. WEBB, ANNIE MABEL - age 87, of Knoxville, passed away Friday, June 13, 1997, at Brakebill Nursing Home. Member of Second United Methodist Church. Preceded in death by husband, John W. Webb Sr.; and son, John W. Webb Jr. Survived by son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Nancy Webb; grandchildren, Jane Ann Prichard and husband Greg, Teresa Kay Turner and husband Greg, Kenneth Webb Jr. and wife April; great-grandchildren, Niki Booker, Tyler and Logan Turner, Christopher, Bradley and Thomas Prichard; sisters, Frances Mynatt and Margaret (Bobbie) Kempton; faithful friend, Lila Wilson; several nieces and nephews. WHITSELL, RALPH EUGENE - age 49, of Heiskell, passed away Thursday, June 12, 1997, in East Ridge, Tenn. Survivors: mother, Fay Harvey; sisters, Jane Queener, Carolyn Metcalf; brothers, Gordon, Adolph and Johnny Whitsell, Fred and Peter Harvey; several nieces and nephews. WOOD, EUGENE WALTER, M.D. - 50, died June 12, 1997 at his home in Reading, Vermont. He was born July 19, 1946 in Memphis, Tenn., son of Eugene Heber and Evangeline (Bland) Wood. Dr. Wood attended Millington High School in Millington, Tenn. where he was valedictorian of his class. He graduated from the University of Tennessee Magna Cum Laude. He graduated from Duke Medical School in 1971. He practiced pathelogy for the last 17 years in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Dr. Wood was a member of the American Medical Association, South Carolina Medical Association, College of American Pathologists. He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Woodstock, Vt. He is survived by his wife, Carol Lindsey Wood, Reading, Vt.; one son, Ethan Eugene Thomas Wood, Reading, Vt., three daughters, Evangeline Freya Shiller, Houston, Texas, Amy Caroline Wood, Reading, Vt., Jessica Solomon Wood, Reading, Vt., one brother, Thomas Wood, Woodstown, N.J., two sisters, Nancy Mansfield, Chesapeake, Va., Carol Ann Mitchell, Arab, Ala. A memorial service will be held Monday, June 16, 1997, 1 p.m., at the St. James Episcopal Church in Woodstock, Vt. Rev. Canon Donald Boyer, Rector, will officiate. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, friends are encouraged to assist with donations for a memorial sculpture by Barbara Kaufman to be placed in Dr. Wood's honor in the Duke Gardens at Duke University.
