William Odell Talley

LIVINGSTON -- Funeral services for William Odell Talley, 71, of Livingston, will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 9, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial will be in Campground Cemetery.

Mr. Talley died on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

He was born on June 10, 1930, in Overton County to the late Jasper and Sally Dee Brown Talley. He was a member of the Presbyterian faith.

His family includes a brother, Marion J. Talley of Las Vegas, Nev.; a sister, Beth Kirkpatrick of Livingston; and several nieces and nephews.

Rev. Gary Davis will officiate at the services.
 

Earl Howard Gray

LIVINGSTON -- Funeral services for Earl Howard Gray, 55, of Allons, will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. A Rosary Service will be held at 5 p.m. today, Friday, Dec. 7, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Overton County Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Gray died on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

He was born on April 27, 1946, in Vernon, Ky. to Mashie Kilman Gray of Celina and the late Howard Gray. He was owner of Auberson & Gray Concrete Finishing Company. Mr. Gray was a member of the Roman Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge, Elk Lodge and F.O.P.

In addition to his mother, his family includes the mother of his children, Alice Tebbe of Tipton, Ind.; two sons, Robert and Troy Gray, both of Tipton; a daughter, Rachele Hopkins of Tipton; four brothers, Donald Gray of Livingston, Reed and Grady Gray, both of Allons, and Shirley Gray of Celina; four sisters, Wilma Wolf of Peru, Ind., Catherine Kerr, Betty Sue Gray and Marie Young, all of Celina; and four grandchildren, Tanner and Keegan Gray, and Blake and Allison Hopkins.

Bro. Chris Coil will officiate at the services.
 

Willie Edward (Bud) Daniels

LIVINGSTON -- Funeral services for Willie Edward (Bud) Daniels, 69, of Livingston, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial will be in Hoover Cemetery in Allons.

Mr. Daniels died on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

He was born on May 18, 1932, in Clay County to the late Robert and Inis Adams Daniels. He was a self-employed drywall finisher. Mr. Daniels was affiliated with the Church of Christ.

His family includes his wife, Cleo Daniels of Livingston; three sons, Dennis and Anthony Daniels, both of Indianapolis, Ind., and John Michael Daniels of Guam; a stepson, Bruce Winningham of Nashville; three stepdaughters, Brenda Friant, Belinda Masters and Kay Boswell, all of Livingston; five brothers, Eddie, Paul, Miley Joe and Wayne Daniels, all of Celina, and Bill Daniels of Indiana; four sisters, Betty Jean Riddle of Burkesville, Ky., Evadean Long of Kentucky, Sue McLerran and Louise Raines, both of Celina; 15 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Rayburn, Elbert, Merl and Roger Daniels.

Rev. Terry McCloud will officiate at the services. 

Clifton Rich

CELINA -- Funeral services for Clifton Rich, 76, of Celina, were held Saturday, December 8, in the chapel of Upton Funeral Home. Burial was in Macedonia Cemetery in Moss.

Mr. Rich died December 6, 2001, at his daughter's home.

Born July 25, 1925, in Moss, he was the son of the late Sid and Della Blanche Stockton Rich.

Mr. Rich was the owner of a furniture and appliance store.

His family includes one stepson, Roy Trobaugh of Smiths, Ala.; a daughter, Linda Raines of Celina; two stepdaughters, Maggie Allen of Oak Grove and Peggy Boles of Cookeville; one brother, Tim Rich of Celina; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and special friend Christine Rich of Hilham.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Louise Brown.

Rev. Bill Coe officiated at the services.

Jonathon Trevor Whitehead

BAXTER -- Graveside services for Jonathon Trevor Whitehead, stillborn son of Mary Whitehead of Baxter, will be today, December 12, at 2 p.m. in the Smellage Memory Gardens.

Jonathon was stillborn on Monday, December 10, 2001, at Carthage General Hospital.

In addition to his mother, his family includes one brother, Dylan Whitehead of Baxter; grandparents, Treva and John Hardy of Gainesboro and Jack Whitehead of Buffalo Valley; great-grandparents, Alene Hancock and Lilly Whitehead, both of Baxter and Sarah Hardy of Gainesboro; two uncles, Jackie Whitehead of Buffalo Valley and Lance Hardy of Arkansas.

Jonathon was preceded in death by great-grandfathers Irven Hancock, Tom Whitehead and Vernon Hardy; and one cousin, Justin Whitehead.

Bro. Fabron Nicholson will officiate at the services.

Pearl Meadows Clark

GAINESBORO -- Funeral services for Pearl Meadows Clark, 87, of Gainesboro, will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 13, from the chapel of Anderson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rob Draper Memorial Cemetery in the Stone Community of Jackson County.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. today, Wednesday, Dec. 12; and from 10 a.m. until time of services on Thursday, Dec. 13, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Clark died on Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

She was born on Aug. 29, 1914, in Jackson County to the late Johnny and Ida McCoin Meadows. Mrs. Clark was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ. She was a former resident of the North Springs Community of Jackson County. Mrs. Clark was married to Kelly Clark, who died on Sept. 17, 1985.

Her family includes two sisters, Rose Fuqua and Ruby Meadows, both of Gainesboro; a sister-in-law, Nellie Meadows of Sparta; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Meadows.

Mildred Ray

SPARTA -- Funeral services for Mildred Ray, 67, of Sparta, were held at 10 a.m. today, Wednesday, Dec. 12, from the chapel of Thurman Funeral Home. Burial was in Howard Cemetery.

Mrs. Ray died on Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at Masters Health Care Center.

She was born on July 6, 1934, in White County to the late Hugh C. and Nola Tolbert Phifer. Mrs. Ray was a waitress.

Her family includes a son, Gary Slatten of Sparta; stepchildren Billy and Marsha Ray; a brother, Clenny H. Phifer of LaVern; a sister, Mary R. Lane of Michigan; a sister-in-law, Barbara Phifer of Algood; and grandchildren Kevin Slatten, Billy Gene, Vickie, Jessica and Sara Ray, and Josh Taylor.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Walter Ray; a brother, Clifford Carol Phifer; and a sister, Ann Phifer.

Elmo Ison

RICKMAN -- Funeral services for Elmo Ison, 59, of Rickman, will be held Thursday, December 13, 2001, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Speck Funeral Home in Livingston. Burial will be in the Sam Flatt Cemetery in Jackson County.

Mr. Ison died Tuesday, December 11, 2001, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

Born February 18, 1942 in Michigan, he was the son of the late Grandville and Gracie Gertrude Maggard Ison.

Mr. Ison was disabled.

His family includes one son, Wayne Fetterolf of Rickman; three daughters, Kimberley Moore of Rickman, Michelle Farley and Sandra Harper, both of Cookeville; two sisters, Mable Woodard and Sue McFall, both of Michigan; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Wilma Jean Chandler and Louise Fields; and two brothers, Claude and Keiter Ison.

Pallbearers will be Lawrence and Terry Kroenert, James Jackson and Stanley, David and Wayne Fetterolf.

Rev. Daniel Jackson will officiate at the services. 

Charles Shearin Dickens

COOKEVILLE -- Memorial services for Charles Shearin Dickens, 70, of Cookeville will be held Friday, December 14, at 1 p.m. in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper and Huddleston Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, December 13, from 6-8 p.m. and Friday from noon until time of the services.

Mr. Dickens died Wednesday, December 12, 2001, at his home.

Born April 19, 1931, in Fayetteville, he was the son of the late Charles Herman and Myrtle Beatrice Shearin Dickens.

Mr. Dickens graduated from Hume-Fogg High School in 1949. He received his Bachelor of Philosophy Degree in 1953 and his Masters of Divinity Degree in 1956 from Vanderbilt University.

He was a Methodist minister serving churches in Tennessee until 1965. In 1965, he began his career with the Social Security Administration and since 1995 had been District Manager of the Cookeville/Upper Cumberland Region Social Security Office.

Mr. Dickens was a member of the Cookeville Noonday Rotary Club; president of Leadership Putnam Alumni Association and was on the Selection Board for Habitat for Humanity. He was past board member of Putnam County United Way.

His family includes his wife, Patty Moore Dickens; three sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Martha Dickens of Hickory, North Carolina, Dr. John and Yvette Dickens of Calhoun, Georgia and Michael Schirmacher of Cookeville; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Jeanne and John Harvey and Joanne Dickens, all of Jacksonville, Florida, Michelle and Jeoffrey Hamilton of Jonesboro, Georgia and Lesa Schirmacher of Asheville, North Carolina and four grandchildren, Leigha, Alexandria and John Cole Dickens and Bryant Hamilton.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Scott Dickens.

Dennis Oliver, Paul Dickens and Rev. Clifford Ingram will officiate at the services.

Mattie Ruth Jones Price

SPARTA -- Funeral services for Mattie Ruth Jones Price, 75, of Sparta, will be held Friday, December 14, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Hunter Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Saylors Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today after 6 p.m.

Mrs. Price died Tuesday, December 11, 2001, in the Life Care Center.

Daughter of the late Pleas Earl and Lillie Mae Saylors Jones, she was born June 25, 1926, in Hamilton County.

Mrs. Price was a homemaker.

Her family includes two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Thelma Price and Earl and Kathleen Price, all of Sparta; three daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Willie Steele of Cookeville, Wilma and Fred Campbell of St. Clair Shores, Mich. and Carolyn and Tom McDowell of Sparta; five grandchildren, Greg Campbell, Terry Steele, Sabrina Wilson, and Corey and Seth Price; and one great-grandchild, Meghan Wilson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Obie Clure Price.

David Lee England will officiate at the services.

Doris Marie Law

COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for Doris Marie Law, 68, of Cookeville, will be held in the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home on Friday, December 14, at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Algood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 4-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Law died Wednesday, December 12, 2001, at Masters Health Care Center.

Daughter of the late Vestel and Elizabeth (Lestie) Bennett, she was born March 3, 1933, in Putnam County.

Mrs. Law was a certified nurse's assistant and a member of Bear Creek Baptist Church.

Her family includes two daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and John Whitson and Amy and Jerry Gentry, all of Cookeville; one brother and sister-in-law, Johnny and Linda Bennett of Algood; six grandchildren, Joshua Whitson of Nashville, Brad Whitson of Cookeville, Jamie Whitson of Arkansas, Jeremiah, Daniel and Mary Beth Gentry, all of Cookeville; two great-grandchildren, Maggie and Megan Whitson, both of Cookeville; and two nieces, Kim Bennett of Cookeville and Tracy Bennett of Algood.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Law; and one brother, Billy Bennett.

Carson H. Tudor

MONTEREY -- Funeral services for Carson H. Tudor, 91, of Monterey, will be held Saturday, December 15, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Goff Funeral Home. Burial will be in Whittaker Cemetery in Monterey with full military honors.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, December 14, from 5-7 p.m.

Mr. Tudor died Tuesday, December 11, 2001, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Son of the late Henderson and Suzanna Judd Tudor, he was born in Monterey on August 30, 1910.

Mr. Tudor was a member of the Monterey Church of the Nazarene and the Monterey VFW Post 6297. He was a WWII Army veteran.

His family includes one sister, Mollie Tudor of Monterey; 12 nieces and nephews and several great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Goolie Whittaker McCormick Tudor; two sisters, Georgia Mae and Mary Etta Tudor; two brothers, Lloyd and Orphus Tudor; three half brothers, Joe Ralph, Dolan and Berkey Tudor; and two stepbrothers, Rollie and Alvin McCormick.

Revs. Roy Nash and Preston Brown will officiate at the services.

Jamie Paul Vaughn

LIVINGSTON -- Funeral services for Jamie Paul Vaughn, 21, of Allons, will be held at 3 p.m. today, Thursday, Dec. 13, from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery in Alpine.

Mr. Vaughn died on Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at Livingston Regional Hospital.

He was born on April 4, 1980, in Overton County to Bobby Glen Vaughn of Allons and Barbara K. Smith Vaughn of Alpine. He attended Christ Church Presbyterian in Alpine.

Mr. Vaughn was a member of Livingston Academy Class of 1999. He was Football manager 1995-1999.

In addition to his parents, his family includes his grandmother, Hazel Smith of Alpine; a brother, Kevin Vaughn of Hilham; a sister, Robin Vaughn of Alpine; and two nieces, Lindsey and Rachel Rose.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Dorothy Rachel Brymer.

Pallbearers will be Chris Nevins, Randy Ford, Jeremy Mansell, Mack Peterman, Tony Coffee and Jessie Stevens.
