SURGOINSVILLE -- Daryl Lee Testerman, age 36, Surgoinsville, died unexpectedly Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, at his home. 
He was born in Kingsport and had lived all of his life in Surgoinsville, Hawkins County. He grew up in the Surgoinsville Freewill Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Marines. 
He was preceded in death by his grandparents. 
He is survived by his father and mother, Ray E. Testerman and Retha Whitaker Testerman, Surgoinsville; a sister, Brenda Shepherd and husband Dean, Kingsport; five brothers, Dennis Testerman of the home, twin brother Donald Testerman and wife Mary Testerman, Kingsport, Mark Testerman and wife Jennifer, Church Hill, Kevin Testerman and wife Janet, Mountain City, Steven Testerman and wife Sarah, Mountain City; four nieces; five nephews; several cousins, aunts and uncles. 
Calling hours will be 4 - 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2001, at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill, and any any time at the parent’s home, 117 Ridge Street, Surgoinsville. 
Funeral services will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2001, at the Carter-Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Billy Gragg and Jessie Hartgrove officiating. Music will be provided by the Riverside Quartet. 
Graveside services will be held at noon Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001, at Hawkins County Memorial Gardens. Family and friends who wish to attend the service should meet 11:55 a.m. at the cemetery. 

Lois R. Armstrong

NASHVILLE -- Lois Rochelle Armstrong, age 91, Nashville, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001, at St. Thomas Hospital. 
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Nashville, and formerly a member of New Providence Presbyterian Church, Stony Point. 
She was a retired school teacher, having taught in the Hawkins County School System and retired from the Rogersville City School where she taught first grade for over 30 years. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and the Travelers Rest Chapter of Brentwood, Daughters of the American Revolution. 
She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Armstrong; parents, William L. and Lula Hester Rochelle; two sisters, Marguerite Rochelle Shannon and Eudora Rochelle Mason; and a brother, William Rayburn Rochelle. 
She is survived by a sister, Roberta Rochelle Torrence, Nashville, and a number of nieces and nephews. 
Calling hours will be 7 - 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001, at Broome Funeral Home, Rogersville. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, 2001, at New Providence Presbyterian Church, Stony Point, with Dr. David Hale officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

ROGERSVILLE -- Irene Wallen Clonce, age 81, Rogersville, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Rogersville, following an extended illness. 
She was a member of Spires Chapel Baptist Church. 
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Clonce; parents, Rufus and Emma Waddel Wallen; three brothers, Homer Wallen, Bascom Wallen and Elmer Wallen. 
She is survived by a daughter, Linda Sheddan and husband Glenn; a son, Larry Leon Clonce and wife Dena, all of Rogersville; four grandchildren, David Clonce, Rachel Clonce, Amanda Sheddan and Joseph Sheddan, all of Rogersville; a great-granddaughter, Jenna Kay Davis, Rogersville; two sisters, Faye Cobble, Kingsport, and Launa Smith, Rogersville; two brothers, Eugene Wallen, Kingsport and Joe Wallen, Johnson City; and a number of nieces and nephews.

ROGERSVILLE -- Nancy Cornelia Gonce, age 95, Rogersville, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001, following an extended illness. 
She was a member of Compromise Baptist Church. 
She was preceded in death by her husband, H.C. Gonce. 
She is survived by three nephews, Alford, Edward and Roger Wilson, all of Rogersville; three nieces, Hope Seal, Wilma Waye and Janice Livesay, all of Sneedville; and several great-nieces and nephews.

ROGERSVILLE -- Hazel Christine Cinnamon, age 69, Rogersville, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2001. She was a member of McCloud’s Baptist Church. 
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gale Cinnamon; two sons, Clifford Eugene Cinnamon, and Gary Wayne Cinnamon; and a daughter, Linda Braford. 
She is survived by seven daughters, Glenda Barker, Rogersville, Reba Trent, Bulls Gap, Sandra Mullins, Nancy Williams, Lillie Bailey, Tammy Murrell and Shannon Davis, all of Rogersville; four sons, Charles Cinnamon of the home, Milton of West Virginia, Eddie, Bulls Gap, and Danny, Rogersville; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of friends.

Emma C. Bechtel

NEW OXFORD, PA -- Emma Catherine Bechtel, age 92, New Oxford, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2001, at Hanover Hospital. 
She was born Oct. 18, 1908, in Union Mills, MD. She was a member of St. Mary’s Lutheran Church, Silver Run, MD. 
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene A. Bechtel; and parents, J. Edward and Mary Cratin Stonesifer. 
She is survived by two sons, Edward H. Bechtel, Westminster, MD, and Guy A. Bechtel Sr., Rogersville; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. 
Funeral services, with Rev. Dr. H. Lee Brumback II officiating, will be private and at the convenience of the family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Kimbrough; parents, Rev. Charlie and Thelma Blanton Johnson; brothers, Rev. James Johnson and Eldridge Johnson; and sisters, Kathryn Argelene Odom and Donna Gail Vaughn.

He was a member of Marion Robinette Memorial Primitive Baptist Church and was a self-employed building contractor. He was a Vietnam War veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy Sea Bees.

She was a life-long resident of Hawkins County and a member of the Van Hill Freewill Baptist Church. She was employed by K-Mart of Rogersville and a former employee of the Kingsport Press. 
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie Benton Dykes; and father, Clarence Fields. 
She is survived by her husband, Howard Benton of the home; a daughter, Sheila Peters and husband Mark, Church Hill; three grandchildren, Christy Dykes, Rogersville, Stephanie Peters and Andrew Peters, both of Church Hill; mother, Helen Gardner Fields, Rogersville; two brothers, Wayne C. He was a faithful husband and devoted father.

He was a member and Deacon of Howe’s Chapel Baptist Church. 
He was a building contractor for many years. 
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert D. and Bertha Lawson Shaw; step-mother, Stella Sutton Shaw; sisters, Dovie Shaw and Elsie Shaw; and brothers, Hobart Shaw and Grant Shaw. 
He is survived by his wife, Pearl Trent Shaw of the home; a daughter, Nadine Bundren and husband Bob; two sons, Lowell Shaw and wife Brenda; and Carl Shaw and wife Faye, all of Rogersville; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Bobbie Marshall, Morristown; and a half-sister, Edna Antel, Chattanooga.

ROGERSVILLE -- Charlie Gordon, age 68, Rogersville, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at his residence. He was of the Baptist faith. He was retired from the Hawkins County Memorial Hospital following 38 years of service. 
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Martha Gordon; a sister, Eliza Sturgill; and a brother, Carson Gordon. 
He is survived by a sister, Renda Baker, Rogersville; two brothers, Fred Gordon and J.C. Gordon, both of Rogersville; a special niece, Donna Hamilton and her husband Skip; and several other nieces and nephews.

He was a member of New Salem Baptist Church. He was in the real estate business in Chicago for 20 years and after moving to Rogersville, he was in the real estate business for the past 16 years. 
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles M. Gillespie; mother, Verdie A. Gillespie; brother, Dr. Lester L. Gillespie; and sister-in-law, Frances Gillespie. 
He is survived by his wife, Norma Gillespie of the home; a brother and sister-in-law, Donald M. and Faye Gillespie, Kingsport; a sister, Marie Gillespie, Coeburn, VA; a nephew, Donnie Mack and wife Elizabeth Gillespie of Tennessee; four nieces, Nancy Brooke and husband Lynn Warren, Richmond, VA, Rita Jo and husband Ronald Porter, Coeburn, VA, Mary Alice and husband James Clay, Coeburn, VA, and Martha Lynn Ward, San Diego, CA; a sister and brother-in-law, Jack and Sarah Ward, San Diego, CA; special friends, Ralph and Florence Jones, and Harold and Shirley Powers, all of Rogersville; and many other special friends.

MOSHEIM -- Jacob Lynn Bullington, eight months old, Mosheim, died unexpectedly Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at the residence.

Russell W. Reno 
Died: 12/29/2000
ROGERSVILLE -- Russell Wade Reno, age 81, Rogersville, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, at Holston valley Medical Center. 
He was born in Sevier County (Sevierville) but lived in Rogersville most of his life. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired from TVA with over 20 years of service. He later worked for the White’s Store in Rogersville. He was a member of Magnolia Freewill Baptist Church, Surgoinsville. 
He was preceded in death by his wife, Iva Rayfield Reno; a great-grandchild, Leila Johnson; parents, Jim and Kate Reno; brothers, Claude, Alvin, ohn, Winfred and Herman Reno; and sisters, Lula Weir, Ida Marler and Ibbie Newman. 
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Mrs. Jim (Patricia) Plunkett, Mt. Laurel, NJ, and Mrs. Charles (Jeanie) Thurman, Rogersville; a son and daughter-in-law, Gregory R. and Lacey Reno, Rogersville; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Buford Reno, Oak Ridge; and several nieces and nephews.

Kenneth J. Reimann 
Died: 12/29/2000
ST. JOSEPH, MI -- Kenneth James Reimann, age 56, St. Joseph, MI, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, at Bronson Hospital, Kalamazoo, MI, as a result of an automobile accident. 
He was born Aug. 2, 1955, in Benton Harbor to Gerhard and Catherine Luhning Reimann and graduated from St. Joseph High School and then attended Western Michigan University, On Aug. 10, 1968, he married Corinne (Connie) Armstrong of Rogersville. He worked for Berrien County Intermediate School District and Lakeshore Schools as a school psychologist. He was past-president and board member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran School and secretary of the church council. He was the past basketball and baseball coach for the Galien public school and coached Little League in the St. Joseph area for many years. 
He is survived by his wife, Corinne; a son, Chad; a sister, Arletta (Don) Yeske; a brother, Jerry (Janet) Reimann, all of St. Joseph; and numerous nieces and nephews. 
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Benton Harbor. Visitation will be from 5 - 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at the First United Methodist Church, St. Joseph. 
Graveside services will beheld 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, at McKinney Cemetery, Rogersville.

BULLS GAP -- John Roy Douglas Jr., age 20, Bulls Gap, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, at Hawkins County Memorial Hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. 
He was a carpenter.

ROGERSVILLE -- Earl J. Walker, age 56, Rogersville, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center following a brief illness. 
He was a member of Speedwell Missionary Baptist Church. 
He was preceded in death by his parents, Porter and Bonnie Seay Walker; and a sister, Marie Wheeler. 
He is survived by four brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy and Ruth Walker, Rogersville, with whom he made his home and who were his caregivers, J.B. and Louise Walker, Whitesburg, Harold and Judy Walker, Belvidere, IL, Jimmy and Helene Walker, Jacksonville, FL; six nieces; six nephews; 13 great-nieces and nephews; and three great-great-nieces and nephews.

She was a member of Beech Creek Missionary Baptist Church. 
She was preceded in death by her husband, Everette Morrison; father, George Light, a Civil War veteran; mother, Amanda Lane Light; son, Ray Morrison; two grandchildren; two sons-in-law; and three sisters. 
She is survived by two daughters, Nettie Hill and Nadeen Morelock, both of Rogersville; two sons, Burnie Morrison and Kenneth Morrison, both of Rogersville; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. 
Funeral services will be held 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, 3000, at Colboch-Price Chapel with Rev. Keith Williams officiating. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at Beech Creek Church Cemetery. 
The family will receive friends 6 - 8 p.m. Saturday prior to the service at Colboch-Price Funeral Home Chapel, Rogersville.

Ethel Woods 
Died: 12/27/2000
ROGERSVILLE -- Ethel (Granny) Woods, age 94, Rogersville, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, at her home. 
She was a loving Christian mother and grandmother who devoted her life first to Jesus Christ her Lord and then her family. She was a life-long resident of Hawkins County and was a homemaker. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Freewill Baptist Church. 
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dave and Lilly Underhill Fields; the father of her children, Will Woods; a son, J.D. Woods; a sister, Elsie Duncan; and six brothers, John, Larry, Dewey, Orlin, Alden and Clarence Fields. 
She is survived by four daughters, Melba Powell, Church Hill, Mrs. Chester (Bernice) Shipley, Mrs. Robert (Blanche) Shipley, both of Kingsport; Hazel Morelock, Surgoinsville; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. 
Calling hours will be 5:30 - 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, at the Fall Branch Chapel of Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes and also any time at the home. 
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at Mt. Carmel Freewill Baptist Church with Revs. Keith Williams, Howard Ashworth and John Patterson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family and friends will served as pallbearers.

Betty W. Ferrell 
Died: 12/27/2000
ROGERSVILLE -- Betty Wood Ferrell, age 68, Rogersville, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, at her residence following an extended illness. 
She was a member of East Rogersville Baptist Church. She was a Sunday School teacher for 31 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Aby Williams and Lula Amos Wood; a brother, Robert Allen Ferrell; and a half-brother, William Raymond Wood. 
She is survived by her husband, Earl H. Ferrell of the home; four sons, Marion W. Ferrell and wife Belinda, Knoxville, Clark E. Ferrell and E. Douglas Ferrell and wife Stacy, all of Rogersville, and Arthur A. Ferrell of the home; two granddaughters, Alisha Ferrell and Shanna Ferrell, both of Rogersville; and a half-sister and brother-in-law, Annie and John Dozier, Green Castle, IN.

Wanda Jo Jones 
Died: 12/26/2000
ROGERSVILLE -- Wanda Jo Jones, age 61, Rogersville, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000. She was a charter member of Keplar Missionary Baptist Church and worshipped with the First Baptist Church of Rogersville. She was a life-long resident of Hawkins County and worked in various Rogersville businesses all her adult life. She retired due to poor health in 1996 from Food City 619 after 12 years of service. 
She was preceded in death by her parents, Barton and Willie Mae Chaney Jones; a sister, Velma Trent; brother, M.B. Jones; a niece, Deborah Trent; nephew, Ottis Jones, Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews. 
Calling hours are 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, at Broome Funeral Home, Rogersville. 
Funeral services will be held 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Basil Jones officiating. Earskell C. Brown 
Died: 12/25/2000
ROGERSVILLE -- Earskell C. Brown, age 76, Rogersville, died Monday, Dec. 25, 2000, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home following an extended illness. He was a born again Baptist and was a member of Cobbs Chapel Church. He was retired from Dodson Electric Motor Shop for many years. 
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Bobby Elizabeth Brown; two brothers, Kinley Brown and Dewprew Brown; two sisters, Nancy and Ruby Brown; and a niece, Chasity Lawson. 
He is survived by two sisters, Mollie Gillenwater, Rogersville, and Janice Kaumeier, Deltona, FL; three nieces, Rita Lawson, Rogersville, Libby Walker, Bluff City, and Suzanne Peterson, Pearson, FL; several nephews, Michael Kaumeier, Orlando, FL, Randy Johnson, Bristol, Virginia and Jamie Lawson, Rogersville; and several great-nieces and nephews; and several friends. 
The family will receive friends 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, at Colboch-Price Funeral Home, Rogersville, and any time at the residence of Mollie Gillenwater, 121 Kitty Lane, Rogersville. Funeral services will be held 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Dee Hicks officiating. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at Highland Cemetery. 

Sharon Durham 
Died: 12/24/2000
SURGOINSVILLE -- Sharon Durham, age 41, Surgoinsville, died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2000, at Holston Valley Hospital, Kingsport. She was of the Baptist faith. 
She was preceded in death by her father, Jack Golden; a brother, Richard Lee Golden; and grandparents, Ida Louise Manis and Haskell K. Laster. 
She is survived by her husband, Charles Durham of the home; mother, Betty Laster Golden, Rogersville; two brothers, Robert Dennis Golden, Union Ridge, MD, and Timothy Eugene Golden of Pennsylvania; and several nieces and nephews. 
Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at the Colboch-Price Funeral Home Chapel, Rogersville, with Rev. Steve Holt officiating.
