Effie Burrell died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2000, in a local hospital. She was 87.

She taught in Chattanooga Public Schools and was a member of First Baptist Church, East Eighth Street, where she served on the Deaconess Board and the Ladies Guild. She was a
member of the Chattanooga Retired Teachers Association, Zeta Phi Beta sorority and Die Sparsom Frer's Club.

Survivors include a daughter, Glenda Stropshire, Rossville; son, George Burrell, Chattanooga; sister, Frances Thomas; brother, Raymond Atkins, both of Chattanooga; three
grandchildren.

A graveside service will be Saturday in Forest Hills Cemetery with the Rev. Adam McKee III officiating.

There will be no visitation at the Trammell Chapel of Hardwick & Sons Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

Alvin Daniels Sr.

Alvin Lee "Tank'' Daniels Sr. died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2000, in a local health care facility. He was 71.

The funeral will be today at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Bozentown with pastor Frank Ball and pastor Darryl Van Hood officiating.

Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Ethel Daniels died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000, at her home. She was 80.

Henry Edward Freeman died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000, in a local hospital. He was 65.

Clarise Nash Hickey died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2000, at her home. She was 83.

Allen C. Taylor died Monday, Aug. 28, 2000, in Detroit. He was 84.

He was a former member of New Zion Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Allene Ward; stepson, David Wilson; sister, Frances Sawyer; brother, Samuel Taylor; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Eva jean Whitehead died Friday, Aug. 25, 2000, in a local nursing home. She was 47.

She was a graduate of Howard High School, a member of Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church and a former employee of Synthetic Industries.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Steve and Rosa Lee Whitehead; sister, Catherine Whitehead; and three brothers, Charlie and Horace Whitehead and Willie Stubbs.

Survivors include three daughters, Cassandra Satterwhite, Sherry and Sabrina Trammell; two sisters, Rosa Ann Staton and Mattie East Lawarence, both of Chattanooga; son, David
Satterwhite, Chattanooga; two grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Dillard; two sons, Billy Ray and Thomas Dillard; and a daughter, Ruth Leffew.

Survivors include four sons, Ed Dillard, Dayton, Jan Dillard, Evensville, Tenn., James Dillard, East Leroy, Mich., and Stirl Dillard, Pikeville, Tenn.; daughter, Jessi Hale; sister, Cora
Hancock, both of Dayton; 29 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

He was a Baptist and was preceded in death by his father, Cam Jackson Goins Sr.; sister, Charlene Shelton; and brother, Jack Goins.

She was the widow of Frank Dwight McDonald, former president of the White Stores. She was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Knoxville, the P.E.O. and Sequoyah
Hills Garden Club.

She was the mother of the late Barbara McDonald Ladd and the sister of the late Clara Harmon.

Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn Nichols, Naples, Fla.; daughters, Nancy Newbold, Monterey, Tenn., and Susan Overton, Knoxville; sisters, Thelma Keene and Ruth Cox, both of
Knoxville; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Women's Auxiliary of American Legion Post 95.

She was the widow of Richard Eugene Boss.

SUMMERVILLE -- Maxine Loveless McSears died Monday, Aug. 28, 2000, in Rome, Ga. She was 54.

ROSSVILLE -- Wayne Shannon Peterman died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2000, in a local hospital. He was 65.

Mr. Peterman, a native of Overton County, Tenn., retired from Rossville Paving Co. after 16 years there. He was a Baptist.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Fred Peterman.

She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Ellijay, Ga. She supported her husband in camp ministry at the Sand Mountain Bible Camp for 20 years.

She was a graduate of Tennessee Temple University.

Mrs. Turner was a massage therapist and owned her own business.

She was preceded in death by her son, Brad Twilley.

Survivors include her husband, Dalton Turner; parents, Clearon and Elsie Twilley; sisters, Karen Mayo, Kellie Johnson, Lynne Hurtt and Karla Twilley, all of Fort Payne; nieces and
nephews.

The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. CDT at Wilson Funeral Home in Fort Payne.

Burial will be in Walkers Chapel Cemetery.

Mary Webb

SCOTTSBORO -- Mary Maynor Webb died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000, in an area hospital. She was 85.

Survivors include her husband, Willard Webb; five stepchildren, Jesse Tom Webb, Larkinsville, Ala., Edith Webb Rogers and Eugene Webb, both of Hollywood, Ala., and Troy Webb,
Stevenson, Ala.; two nieces and a nephew.

The funeral will be today at 3 p.m. CDT at Scottsboro Funeral Home with the Rev. Roy Venable and the Rev. J.A. LInville officiating.

Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
