Margery Black

Margery Black died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2000, in a local hospital. She was 82.

She was a member of Tyner Church of Christ and was retired from Miller Brothers Co.

Survivors include her husband, Cecil M. Black; daughter, Karen Nye; two sisters, Ann Clonts and Jenny Kelly, both of Chattanooga; three granddaughters; nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Monday at 11:30 a.m. at the Valley View Chapel of Lane Funeral Home with minister George Cupp officiating.

Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Robbie Bouie

Robbie C. Bouie died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2000, at her home. She was 82.

The funeral will be today at 1 p.m. at Greater St. Mary Baptist Church with the Rev. Grady Woods officiating.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Arrangements are by the Avondale Chapel of Franklin-Strickland Funeral Home.

Charles Brown

Charles Grady Brown of Hixson died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000, at his home. He was 71.

Mr. Brown was a carpenter and was retired from TVA Sequoyah Nuclear Plant. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War and was a member of Covenant Free Will
Baptist Church and Carpenters Local 74.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte I. Brown.

Survivors include two sons, Tim Brown and Dan Brown, both of Hixson; two sisters, Ruby Sutton, Hixson, and Elsie Aikens, Dayton; two grandchildren.

The funeral will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Covenant Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Marcus Clagg officiating.

Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

Emma Cooley

Emma Loyd Cooley died Monday, Sept. 18, 2000, at her home. She was 89.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Cooley.

Survivors include two daughters, Sarah Parker and Carrie Foster, both of Chattanooga; two sons, Arthur Loyd, Chattanooga, and Jehue Loyd, Birmingham; sister, Pauline Smith,
Cleveland, Ohio; brother, Freddie Lee McMurray, Gadsden, Ala.; 17 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be Saturday at noon at the New Enon Baptist Church with the Rev. A.J. Bulard Jr. officiating.

Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.

Kenneth Eldridge

Kenneth Earl Eldridge died Tuesday, Sept. 19,. 2999, in an area hospital. He was 63.

He was self-employed.

He was preceded in death by two daughters, Jamie and Kim Eldridge; and a stepdaughter, Sylvia Wells.

Survivors include his wife, Pat Selvage Eldridge; one daughter, Vicki Eldridge; one son, David Eldridge; stepson, Steve Wells; sister, Judy Riddle; eight grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be today at 1 p.m. CDT at Bilbrey Funeral Home in Crossville, Tenn.

John Frazier

John Grant Frazier of Hixson died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2000, at his residence. He was 44.

A memorial service will be today at 7 p.m. at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Visitation will be today from 5 p.m. until the time of the service.

Ali Jabbari died Monday, Sept. 18, 2000, in a local hospital. He was 78.

Burial services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

A memorial service will be held at 11:45 a.m. at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, followed by a small reception.

Lezena Kellogg died Friday, Sept. 15, 2000, in a local hospital. She was 89 and a Baptist.

Emma Kennedy

Emma Nette Kennedy died Monday, Sept. 18, 2000, at her home. She was 87.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Professor Theodore B. Kennedy.

Survivors include two daughters, Helen F. Mitchell, Columbus, Ohio, Mattie J. Brown, Warren, Ohio; son, Theodore B. Kennedy Jr., Antelope, Calif.; sister, Elizabeth Bibbs, Overland
Park, Kan.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be Saturday at noon at Warren Chapel AME Church with the Rev. Charlene N. Boone officiating.

Dwane E. Moses died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000, in a local hospital. He was 41.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Melissa Moses, and his mother, Louise M. Moses.

Survivors include two daughters, Amanda and Trista Moses; father and stepmother, Earsel and Sue Moses, all of Chattanooga; one brother, Rodger Moses, Greenville, Tenn.; half sister,
Vicki Major, Roanoke Rapids, N.C.; half brother, Ricki Hood, Apison, Tenn.

Howard Owen

Howard L. Owen of Harrison died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2000, at his home. He was 87.

Geraldine Peek

Geraldine B. Peek, a longtime resident of Lookout Mountain and an accomplished pianist, died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000, in St. Louis. She was 92.

Interment will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Chattanooga with the Rev. Bertin Glennon officiating.

Geneva Rightmire

Geneva Rightmire of Red Bank died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000, in a local hospital. She was 55.

She was a graduate of Erlanger School of Nursing and retired from Moccasin Bend Mental Health Institute with 10 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sena Shelby Johnson and Harry Johnson.

Survivors include her daughters, Shelia Page and Sherry White, both of Chattanooga; brother, Donald Johnson, Chattanooga; sisters, Carolyn Rawlings, Chattanooga and Judy
Holloway, Whitwell, Tenn.; seven grandchildren.

Hazel E. Robinson died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2000, in a local health care facility. She was 71.

Billy Sullivan

Billy B. Sullivan of Soddy-Daisy died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000, in a local hospital. He was 53.

He was the owner and operator of Bill's Antique Restoring, Bill Sullivan's Moving Service and Sullivan Garbage Service. He was a captain with the Flat Top Volunteer Fire Department and
was recently elected safety officer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Sybil Sullivan; a sister, Mildred Kendrix; and two brothers, Carroll and Joe Oscar Sullivan.

The funeral will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Williamson & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Randy Peterson and the Rev. Mark Davis officiating.

Visitation will be today from 4 to 6 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Roger Wallace

Roger Burton Wallace, a longtime resident of Hamilton County, died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000, in a local hospital.

Mr. Wallace operated Amnicola Farm for 25 years and later was a salesman for Lee Smith International. He was a member of Fidelity Lodge 558 F&AM, the Hamilton County Farm Bureau,
the Chattanooga Half Century Club and Hickory Valley Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Jo G. Wallace; sister, Louise Brandfast; nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with minister Dale P. Lovelady officiating.

Visitation will be today from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Savannah Brooke Wanat, 5-month old infant daughter of Gary and Michelle Wanat, died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000, in Knoxville.

Other survivors include her twin sister, Alexis Paige; a brother, Andrew; grandparents, Diane Gowen, Venice, Fla., Edward Gowen, Greenland, N.H.; John and Rose Wanat, Fort Myers,

Ester Williams died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2000, in a local hospital. She was 73.

He was a graduate of South Pittsburg High School where he played football and helped coach the junior high team for several years. He attended the University of Chattanooga and was a
longtime employee of Penn-Dixie Cement Corporation where he was a chemist and an electrician. He attended Richard City Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Virginia Self.

Cleveland; and Jean Vanettan, Mobile, Ala.; nieces and nephews.

WHITWELL -- Andrew T. Jackson died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000, at his home. He was 84.

He was a member of Fairview Church in Whitwell and was retried from Signal Knitting Mills in Chattanooga.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Ross; a son, Billy Barnes; and sisters, Viola Davidson, Ethel Bell, and Hazel Sanders.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys Cates Jackson; children, Phillis Long, Gary Jackson, and Darrell Barnes, all of Whitwell; a sister, Amanda Cekat, Chattanooga; seven grandchildren;
four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Burial will be in Caroline Chapel Cemetery in Whitwell.

DUNLAP -- Alene Kerley died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2000, in an area nursing home. She was 88.

She was a member of Dunlap Church of God.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Kerley; a sister, Lydia Wright; and a brother, Raymond Smith.

Survivors include three daughters, Dorothy Seals and Shelva Hatfield, both of Dunlap; and Rosetta Shoemate, Pikeville, Tenn.; two sons, Mitchell Kerley, Dunlap, and Billy Kerley,
Chattanooga; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. CDT at Putnam-Standefer-Reed Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Walden and the Rev. Clyde Shankle officiating.

Burial will be in Rankin Cemetery.

Ray Moretz

DAYTON -- Ray Louis Moretz died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000, in a Chattanooga hospital. He was 74.

He owned and operated a general store. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Lutheran Church in Los Alomos, N.M.

He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Alfred, and Charley Moretz; Ray Byrd, Kay Moretz, and Laverne Pasour.

Survivors include his wife, Nell W. Moretz, Dayton; two daughters, Donna Leydorf, Loudon, Tenn., and Miriam Moretz, Hixson; son, Stephen Moretz, Dayton; four grandsons.

The body was cremated and a service will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity, or to Clyde W. Roddy Public Library in Dayton, Tenn.

He was a retired electrical engineer and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

He was Past Master of Rhea Springs Lodge 310 and was retired from TVA.

SUMMERVILLE -- Ida Mae Hix died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000, at her home. She was 87.

She was a member of Subligna Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, T.R. Hix, and a son, Kenneth Hix.

The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Subligna Baptist Church with the Rev. Randy Franks and the Rev. Robert Parks officiating.

Burial will be in Subligna Cemetery.

Visitation will be today from 6 to 9 p.m. at J.D. Hill Funeral Home.

DALTON -- Ima Lee McHan Ridley of the Gladden Springs Community died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000, in an area hospital. She was 80.

The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at Peeples Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Elsberry and the Rev. Milton Wood officiating.

Burial will be in Murray Memorial Gardens.

The family is receiving friends at the funeral home.

TRION -- Belton Dwight Warren died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000, at his home. He was 86.

He was a Baptist and was retired from Barwick Carpet Mills.

Survivors include three sons, Willie Warren, Summerville, Ga., and Jimmy and William Warren, both of Trion; four daughters, Martha Reece and Barbara Barnes, both of Summerville,
Darlene Gilley, Trion, and Carol Farris, North Carolina; sister, Grace McDonald, Cedar Bluff, Ala.; 22 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home with the Rev. Harley Reynolds officiating.

Burial will be in Summerville Cemetery.

He was a certified financial analyst for City National Bank of Miami and formerly of Pioneer Bank in Chattanooga. He received his certification from Rutgers University.

He was a 1956 graduate of Red Bank High School, and a 1962 graduate of Carson Newman College. He also did graduate work at American University. He was a veteran of the U.S.
Marines.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Chester Jolley.

The funeral will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home with Dr. Fred Steelman officiating.

Burial will be in Chattanooga Memorial Park.

JENA, La. -- Billy E. Sizemore, formerly of Rossville, Ga., died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000, in Shreveport, La. He was 65.

Mr. Sizemore was retired from the U.S. Air Force with 24 years of service. He was a member of East Jena Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents Roy Lee and Jamie Akins Sizemore.

Survivors include his wife, Grace Moseley Sizemore; two daughters, Renee Pierceall and Susan Sizemore, both of Bossier City, La.; three sons, Billy Sizemore Jr., Ringgold, La., and James
and Timothy Sizemore, both of Bossier City; sister, Kay Tinker, Noble, Ga.; four brothers, Roy Sizemore, Chickamauga, Ga., Bob Sizemore, Sarasota, Fla., and Tommy and Eddie Sizemore,
both of Rossville; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Services and burial will be Saturday in Jena, La.
