CAGLE, DOVIE EVOLYN KATE, 82, passed away Wednesday morning at the Lincoln Medical Center in Lincolnton, N.C. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Grassy Fork. Evolyn taught school in the Cocke County School System for 38 years before her retirement in 1975. She has taught in the Raven’s Branch Black’s , New Prospect, and Grassy Fork Schools. Survivors include her children, Calvin Cagle and his wife, Carolyn of Morristown, and Jean Dorsey of Crouse, N.C.; her sisters, Zanna Allen of Knoxville, Naomi Seay and Beatrice Freeman, both of Del Rio, and Doris Craddock Lynch of Knoxville; brothers, Benjamin Cates of Hartford and Earl Cates of Harrisonville, N.J.; grandchildren, Cheryl Ann Bridges of Knoxville, Deanna Smith and Charles Cagle, both of Morristown, Daresa Suddreth of Crouse, N.C., Lesa Perkins of Lincolnton, N.C., and Tamara Rozsa of Spartanburg, S.C.; and eight great-grandchildren. COSSON, JAMES L. “ZEKE,” beloved husband, father, and grandfather, age 74, of 1404 Darbee Drive, Morristown, died Wednesday, March 31, 1999, at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare, following a 25 year battle with emphysema. He was a member of First Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Army Reserve. He retired as Vice-President of Safety, following 29 years of service at Roy Widener Motor Lines, and for many years owned and operated Cosson’s Coin Laundries and the Northside Market. He attended the University of Tennessee as well as studied Horticulture at Walters State Community College, small engine repair at the Morristown Vocational Technical School and Aviation at the Morristown Airport, among a field of many other interests. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Sidney Cosson and Elizabeth Mae Smith of Morristown; and brothers, William Edward Cosson and David Frederick “Curly” Cosson. Survivors are his wife, of 50 years, Flora Sue Noe Cosson; daughter and sons-in-law, Patricia Lynn Henderson and Richard Michael Henderson Sr., of Jefferson City, and Susan Cosson of Morristown; grandchildren, Benjamin Ashley Hodges of New York City, and Richard Michael “Richie” Henderson Jr., of Knoxville; brother and sister-in-law, Ernest “Baldy” Cosson and wife, Janet of Oak Ridge; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mildred Cosson Dixon and husband Russell of Cocoa, F., Roberta Cosson Rogers and Betty Cosson Aikin and husband, Jim, all of Morristown; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Juanita Noe Inman, Betty Trent and husband, Jimmy ,Lynn, Barbara Martin and husband Walter, Ronald Noe and wife Linda, Eddie Noe and wife Sharon, all of Morristown, and Allen Noe and wife, Alice of Bybee. BACON, CARL, age 73, of 112 Bacon Road, died Friday morning, April 2, 1999 at Life Care Center of Morristown following an extended illness. 
He was a U. S. Army veteran having served during WWII. Carl Bacon is
preceded in death by his parents, James N. and Minnie Long Bacon; a
sister, Ada Steele Bacon; and three brothers, Haskell R. Bacon, Charles
Larry Bacon, and J.D. Bacon. Survivors include five sisters, Annalee
Thurman, Bennie and husband Howard Long both of Rogersville, Jeanne
Burton and Ruth Gulley, both of Kingsport, and Joan "Sallie" Bacon of
Powell; two brothers, Jimmy Bacon of Rogersville, and Woody and wife
Shirley Bacon of Southaven, Ms.; special friend, Viola Wolfe of
Rogersville; a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews,
uncles and cousins. Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday,
April 3, 1999 at Broome Funeral Home. Funeral services will be
conducted at 8:00 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Rev.
Bobby Tucker officiating. Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. today in
the Bacon Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Hawkins

DOUGLAS, HENRY (JACK) RUBIN, age 74, of Morristown, born on January 10,
1925, passed away on Friday, April 2, 1999, at Baptist Hospital, in
Knoxville. He was a veteran of World War II and had worked for Enka 
for 37 years. Henry Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, Henry
and Lillian Douglas and a son, J. L. Douglas. He is survived by his
wife of 20 years, Helen Douglas of Morristown; daughter and son-in-law,
Debra and Tom Henry of Morristown; one granddaughter, Morgan Henry of
Morristown; brothers, David and Terry Douglas of Newport; and a sister
Wilma. Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., on Monday, at Mayes
Mortuary. The Rev. Terry Clapp and Rev. Stan Chaney will officiate. 
Military graveside services will be conducted by the V.F.W. Post 5266 in
the Hamblen Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends this
evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mayes. Mayes Mortuary is in charge of

Jefferson City Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will
be held at 5:00 p.m. Friday at Westside Chapel. The family will receive

HARRELL, THOMAS FIELDEN, age 69 of Rosman, N.C. was born June 6, 1929. 
He passed away on March 31, 1999 at Transylvania Hospital. He was a
Veteran of U.S. Navy, a Mason and a member of Zion Baptist Church in
Rosman N.C. He is survived by his wife, Imogene Harrell of Rosman,
N.C.; son, Tony Harrell of Brevard, N.C.; daughter, Lisa Carter of
Somerset, Ky.; 5 grandchildren; mother, Vada Wolfenbarger of Washburn;
sister, Delphia Wilmouth of Washburn; brother, Charles E. Harrell of
Knoxville; and a host of other relatives and friends. Masonic services
were held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at Coffey Funeral Home Chapel. 
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 3, 1999 at
Coffey Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services were held at Acuff 
cemetery and will be conducted with Military Honors. Receiving of
friends was held at 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, at Coffey Funeral Home in
Tazewell. The minister conducting the services was Rev. Howard Beeler. 
Singers were Tammy and Martin Nicely. Pallbearers were J.D. Harrell,
Colin West, Frankie Rucker, David Conant, Jimmy Harrell, Mike Jordan.

Trent, Howard William, age 80, of 953 Stanley Valley Road, passed away
at 7:50 p.m. Friday, April 2, 1999, at Holston Valley Hospital after a
brief illness. Born in Hawkins County, he had resided there for most of
his life. He was a member of Unicoi Baptist Church and had retired from
Tennessee Eastman Company after 35 years of service. He was also a
farmer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sue Couch Trent and
William O. Trent, Sr.; sister, Jean Trent Sampson; and brother, Hugh
Kyle Trent. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Viola Alley Trent
of the home; daughters, Linda Sue Trent-Quillen, Patricia (Pat) Case and
son-in-law, Stanley; son, Billy (Bill) Howard Trent and daughter-in-law,
Sandy all of Rogersville; granddaughters, Cyndi Turnmire, Susan Fields
and Leighann Roberson; grandsons, Josh Trent and Adam Case all of
Rogersville; great-granddaughters, Brittani Fields and Hailey Turnmire;
great- grandson, Ryan Turnmire all of Rogersville; brother, William
Oscar Trent, Jr. of Klamath Falls, Oregon; and several nieces, nephews,
and cousins. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at
Colboch-Price Chapel this evening. Funeral services will follow
immediately at 8:00 p.m. with Rev. Floyd Looney officiating. Graveside
services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 5, 1999, at the Trent
