Jo Ann Sutton, of Newport, died Tuesday, July 27, at her home.
She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Earl Sutton.
She is survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Priscilla and Donald Rowland of Newport; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Patsy Sutton of Newport and David and Helen Sutton of Enon Valley, Pennsylvania; four nieces; two nephews; and a very special friend, Bobbie Barnes.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Union Cemetery with Rev. Chuck McGill officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday evening at Manes Funeral Home.

Lois I. Wolford
Died: 07/30/1999
Lois I. Wolford, 55, of Talbott, passed away Thursday, July 29, at St. Mary’s Residential Hospice Center in Knoxville.
She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Franck.
Survivors include her husband, William Wolford; sons and daughters-in-law, Jason and Missy Wolford of Cleveland, and Andrew and Susan Wolford of Nashville; mother, Helen Franck of Winthrop, Iowa; sister, Ester Mae Cox of Sioux City, Iowa; brothers, Keith Franck of Winthrop, Iowa, and Max Franck of Pittsfield, Massachusetts; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, July 31, at Westside Chapel with Rev. Kelly Campbell officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until 5 p.m. before the memorial service.

Richard Lee Harville
Died: 08/03/1999
Richard Lee “Rick” Harville, 43, of Cartersville, Georgia, formerly of Morristown, died suddenly Sunday evening, August 1.
He was an employee of Kennasaw University in Kennasaw, Georgia.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clinton and Myrtle Harville of Morristown, and John Moore of White Pine. He preceded his grandmother, Ola Moore, of White Pine, by two days.
He is survived by his four children, Jessica, 15, Megan, 13, Hannah, 10, and Ty, 5, of Jefferson City; parents, R.L. and Ann Harville of Talbott; brother, Russ Harville of Fountain, North Carolina; two sisters, Rene Schulz of Morganton, North Carolina, and Regina Maddron of Dandridge; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Memorial services will be 4 p.m. Sunday, August 8, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Richard L. “Richie” Hayes officiating. The family will receive friends 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. prior to the memorial service.

Mary Sue Kiker Gammons

Mary Sue Kiker Gammons, 82, of Swatsell Lane, Greeneville, died early Sunday morning, August 1, at her home.
Mrs. Gammons was a homemaker and member of Cedar Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where she taught the Primary Sunday School Class for a number of years.
She was a daughter of the late James and Ethel Kiker.
She was preceded in death by two sons: an infant, Kyle Duane Gammons and Buddy Carroll Gammons; one sister, Lura Bell Ottinger; and one niece, Mary Ruth Moore.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Charles Everett Gammons; three grandchildren, Karen Cross and husband, Randy Cross, and Carroll Duane Gammons and wife, Lisa Gammons, all of Greeneville, and Candis Gammons Adams and husband, Brent Adams of Newport; five great-grandchildren, Tabitha Cross, Nicholaus, Zachery, and Michenzie Gammons, and Isaac Adams; one sister, Mrs. Berlin (Annie) Hawk of Greeneville; one brother, Jimmy Kiker of Greeneville; and one nephew, Ricky Hawk.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 3, at Doughty-Stevens Chapel with interment in Love’s Memorial Cemetery. The Rev. Rex Brown will officiate.
Active pallbearers will be Ronald Neas, Lowell Tate, Lowell Nease, Larue Nease, Bobby Myers, and Mickey Reaves.

She was preceded in death by her son, Angelo Ramos.
She is survived by her husband, John Glaser, of Point Pleasant; sons, Michael and Danny Navarro, both of Newport, and Pedro Ramos, of New Jersey; brothers, Thurman, Arvel, Jack, Robert, and Elmer Sutton, all of Newport; sisters, Pearl Belcher, of Newport, Bonnie Lee, of Newport, Betty Webber, of Sevierville, and Dorothy Webber, of New Jersey; and four grandchildren.

She was a member of the Southside Baptist Church.

She is survived by her sons, David Clayton Hall and Hiter Hall, of Newport, and Odie Hall, of Pigeon Forge; daughter, Hilda Shults, of Newport; brother, Jim Caughron, of Liberty, Kentucky; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Jan Caughron, of Newport; sisters, Gertrude McGaha, of California, Emodene Harvey, of West Tennessee, Imogene Glas, of Belmont, North Carolina, Dorothy Schell, of Bridgeton, New Jersey, Lil Shultz, of Seabring, New Jersey, and Linda Crow, of Arizona; seven grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and friends at the Mariner Health Care of Newport.

He was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Diane B. James of Newport; son, Danny James of Newport; daughter, Heather James of Newport; one grandson, David James; aunts, Pauline Ellison of Newport, Nola Crum of Newport, Effie Ball of Greenville, South Carolina, and Opal Williamson of Newport; uncle, Ed Hall of Newport; cousins, Elaine Wadley of Newport, Nita Bateman of Newport, and Ada Pierce of Newport; brother-in-law, Joe Bellis of Newport; and several other cousins.

She was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John McGaha; sons, Fred McGaha, Joe McGaha, and Clyde McGaha; daughter, Bernice McGaha; brothers, Willie Webb, Noah Webb, and Jim Webb; and sisters, Charity Costner, Pearl Simms, Rasey McMillan, and Susie Grooms.
Survivors: daughters, Eula Caughorn (Cosby), Maxie Byrd (Kodak), Sarah Fowler (Cosby), and Donna (Eddie) LaFollette (Sevierville); sons, Tom (Shirley) McGaha (Newport), Ronnie (Peggy) McGaha (Cosby) and Ottis (Gail) McGaha; 20 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Ola M. Moore, 90, of White Pine, passed away Tuesday, August 3, at Morristown-Hamblen Hospital after a long illness.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of White Pine and a former school teacher of Cocke County.
She was the widow of John Wesley Moore Sr. and the grandmother of Ricky Harville, who preceded her in death by two days.
She was the daughter of the late Vernon and Leora Cogdill Moore. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Ollie Smith.
Survived by children, Esther Ann Harville of Morristown, Nancy Kinsler of Morristown, Carol Waddell of White Pine, and John W. (Dinty) Moore Jr. of Morristown; grandchildren, Regina Maddron, Rene Shultz, Rusty Harville, Khris Morelock, Kay Kinsler, Blake Waddell, Alyssa Waddell and Clint Waddell; step-grandchildren, Pat Berrier, Craig Fiorucci and Tony Fiorucci; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Iona Hodge; and brother, Everett Moore, both of Morristown; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Friday evening at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. David Brannock officiating.

Helen G. Wood, 93, of Newport, died Sunday at the Mariner Health Care of Newport.
She was a member of the Newport Presbyterian Church; retired registrar-at-large after many years; and taught kindergarten for 15 years.
She was a graduate of the Tennessee Wesleyan College and was bookkeeper for the Nelson Bales Drug Store.
She was preceded in death by her husband, A.C. Wood; and son-in-law, Jim Haynes.
She is survived by her daughter, Alice W. Haynes of Newport and daughter and son-in-law, Emily and Bill Cochran of Alcoa; grandson and wife, Chris and Clair Cochran of McMinnville; granddaughter, Susan Cochran of Ft. Mill, South Carolina; and great-grandson, Blake Cochran of McMinnville.
Graveside service was 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Union Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Loftis officiating.
The family received friends from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

Minnie Kay Seay, 82, passed away Wednesday morning at the Jefferson County Nursing Home following a lengthy illness.
She was a member of the Deep Springs Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, John Dalton and Creed Seay.
Minnie is survived by her son, Jackie Dalton, and his wife, Roberta of Jefferson City; sisters, Ruth Webb, Lucille Dalton, and Wanda Scarlett, all of Dandridge; brother, Ray Patterson of Mascot; grandchildren, Danny Dalton of Jefferson City and Donald Dalton of Dandridge; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Velma B. and Herman B. Seagle Sr.; first wife, Ruby June Samples Seagle; brothers, John Ray Seagle and Ralph Seagle; and granddaughter, Shannon Penny Seagle.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Garland Sutton; daughters, Rosalee Glaser and Zola Faye Johnson; and brothers, Jim, Will and Arthur Grooms.
She is survived by her daughters, Betty Jean Sutton of Newport, Bonnie Lee Sutton of Newport, Betty Webber of Sevierville, Pearl Belcher of Newport, and Dorothy Webber of Newport; sons, Elmer, Robert, Jack, Orville and Thurman Sutton, all of Newport; brother, John Grooms of Dandridge; sisters, Lilly Metcalf of Del Rio and Bertha Barnes of New Jersey; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special cousin, Ben Reinhart of Memphis.

Jetta B. Brooks, age 56, of Newport, died Friday, August 20, at Baptist Hospital of Cocke County.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lillie Mae Williamson; sisters, Donnie Grooms and Joyce Evans; and brother, Walt Jenkins.
She is survived by her husband, Homer Glenn (Hig) Brooks, of Newport; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Robin Brooks, of Newport, Jeff and Rhonda Brooks, of Newport, and Dan and Jackie Brooks, of White Pine; daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Jeff Sutton, of Newport and Teresa and Tony Gilbert, of Ashville, North Carolina; sister, Arlene Valentine, of Cosby; grandchildren, Summer Brooks, of White Pine, Courtney Gilbert, of Ashville, North Carolina, Tyler Brooks, of Newport, Ashtyn Brooks, of Newport, and Ross Gilbert, of Ashville; special nephews, Richard and Lacy Valentine, of Cosby and Delmer Williamson, of Newport; special niece, Linda Caldwell, of Newport; and several other nieces, nephews, and friends.

Evelyn Montsinger Brownlee
Died: 08/20/1999
Evelyn Garwood Montsinger Brownlee, 74, of Knoxville, passed away from cancer on Monday, August 16, at NHC Health Care, Ft. Sanders.
Mrs. Brownlee was born in Haddonfield, New Jersey, on June 12, 1925. Evelyn attended Tusculum College, Greeneville, where she met and later married Dr. Vernon W. Montsinger Jr., D.M.D., of Newport.
Evelyn, known as “Eve” to many of her friends in southern New Jersey and East Tennessee, worked in various positions including banking, medical receptionist and agent for several travel agencies.
She was active in community clubs and the church.
Her love of people, especially children, was evident by all who met her.
She was later married to James Brownlee, who is deceased.
Her mother, Elna E. Parker, was from a prominent family in the Gibbsboro, New Jersey, area and was a concert pianist and music teacher. Her father, William Newton Garwood, was from the farming area now called Cherry Hill, New Jersey, and ran several businesses. Her brother, W.N. “Bud” Garwood Jr. was a World War II veteran. All are deceased.
She is survived by three sons and their wives, Mark and Abby Montsinger of Chicago, Illinois, Larry and Catherine Montsinger of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Vince and Angie Montsinger of Atlanta, Georgia; and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Rose Mortuary, Mann Heritage Chapel.

Joseph Evans, 67, of Morristown, passed away Tuesday, August 17, at his residence.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Richard and Idella Beck Evans; sister, Willa Mae Ellison; and brothers, Frank, Campbell Lee, Charles Ponder, Clifford Alexander, Robert J., Jackie and James Henry Evans.

Lorraine (Lorre) McNeil, of Gatlinburg, died Tuesday, August 17, at her home.
Lorre was a loving wife and mother, a spiritually-inspired artist, and past vice-president of Tennessee Engine Works.
“She dwelled in the shelter of the Lord and abided in his shadow for life; her refuge, her rock in whom she trusted.” (Psalms 91)

He is survived by his sons, Timothy Jr. and Christopher Santi of Greeneville; brother, Humlett Jarnigan of Newport; and sisters, Maxine Ramsey and Irene Cody of Newport, Liz Fowler of Las Vegas, Nevada, Gail Fowler of Johnson City, and Rosalee Pack of Greeneville.

Arnold Ray Stanfield
Died: 08/20/1999
Arnold Ray Stanfield, 59, of Cosby, died August 18, at Baptist Hospital of East Tennessee.
He was a member of Grace Baptist Church; a civil engineer; an artist for 21 years; and was a member of the Newport Art & Craft Guild.
He was very gifted and was loved by those who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Loretta A. Stanfield of Cosby; son, Paul Franklin of Vero Beach, Florida; daughters, Valerie Nunnery of Jacksonville, Florida, and Donna Bellamy of New Burne, North Carolina; brother, James G. Stanfield of Cosby; and nine grandchildren.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Grace Baptist Church with Dr. David Gamble and Rev. Ray Wiley officiating. Burial will be in Waters-Large Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 12 noon until 2 p.m. Saturday prior to the funeral at Grace Baptist Church.

Selma Walker
Died: 08/20/1999
Selma Walker, 81, of Bybee, passed away Thursday morning at her residence following a lengthy illness.
Selma was a member of Bybee Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Eunice (Turner) Arms; sister, Mae Overholt; and brother, Raymond Arms.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry Rick and Sheila Walker of Newport; four daughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn and Bob Clevenger of Morristown, Wilma Dean and Richard Hein of Parma, Ohio, Elizabeth and Doug Parsons of Parma, Ohio, and Pat and E.K. Warren of Candler, North Carolina; two sisters, Alma Henderson and Verta Aldridge of Cleveland, Ohio; one brother, David Arms of Cleveland, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Brown Funeral Chapel with Rev. Gary Miller officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
