She is survived by her son, Payton Louis ProfÞtt, Jr., of Knoxville; sisters, Selina Smith, of Leeds, UT and Sharon Anderson, of Corryton; as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Died: 06/30/1999
Eula B. Shults, 88, passed away Tuesday morning at her home following a lengthy illness.
Eula was a member of the Denton Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Beed Shults; a daughter, Martha Jane Large; and several other sisters and brothers.
She is survived by her children, Jay Shults and his wife, Joan, of Cosby, Earl Jack Shults and his wife, Brenda, of Cosby, Jeanetta Slagle, of Johnson City, Shirley Clark and her husband, Wade, of Rogersville, Alabama, and Gail Nations and her husband, Doug, of Easley, South Carolina; sister, Nora Valentine and her husband, Vick, of Cosby; brother, Fred Lois Brown, of Gastonia, North Carolina; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Mary Rosalie Ward, age 61, of Newport, died June 28, 1999, at Johnson City Medical Center.
She was employed by Five Rivers Electronics in Greeneville. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Faye Southerland and brother, J.B. Southerland.
She is survived by her sisters, Betty Jo Sams, of Parrottsville, Shirley Hafey, of Monroe, North Carolina, and Judy Choats, of Taylorsville, South Carolina; brothers, H.C. Southerland, of Del Rio, Arnold Southerland, of White Pine, and John David Southerland, of Parrottsville; and father, Horace C. Southerland, of Parrottsville. Additional survivors include several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, including a special aunt, Elsie Johnson, of Bybee.
The family will receive friends, Wednesday, June 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Costner-Maloy Funeral Chapel.

Mrs. Judy Ann Williamson, age 46, of Newport, passed away at 11:15 p.m. Monday evening, June 28, 1999, at the Baptist Hospital of East Tennessee in Knoxville, following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was a member of the Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her parents, Holbert and Marjorie Holdway Legg.
Survivors include her husband, David Williamson, of the home; daughters, Theresa Keller Ramsey, Kristal Keller Gann, Tiffanie Keller Watkins, Michelle Williamson McGaha, Patty Williamson, and Angie Williamson, all of Newport; grandchildren, Dustin and Dylan Ramsey, Kelsey and JoJo Gann, Derrick, Josh, and Phillip Watkins, Jordan McGaha, and Breann Hartsell, all of Newport; very special friends, Teresa and Mike Vasquez and children, Sheila, Alyssa, and Michael Vasquez; and many other special family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday evening, July 1, from the Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Cocke County with Reverend Billy Ball ofÞciating. Graveside services and interment will be at 2 p.m. Friday afternoon, July 2, in the Liberty Hill Cemetery.
The body will be moved to the church at 3 p.m. Thursday for visitation and services. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday evening prior to services at Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church.

Glenn Andrew Scott “Scottie” Horvath, age 6, of Newport, died Saturday morning.
He is survived by his parents, Keith and Kathy Horvath, of Newport; brother, Morgan Horvath, and sister, Sabrina Horvath, of Newport; grandparents, Josie and Glenn Ellison, of Newport, and Jerry and Patricia Horvath, of Dandridge; great grandmothers, Stella Horvath, of GrifÞth, Indiana, and Virginia Dossett, of Dandridge.

John David McGaha, 41, of Newport, passed away Tuesday afternoon at a Knoxville hospital following an apparent heart attack.
John was employed by Ryan’s Steak House in Newport.
He is survived by his daughter, Amy Brooke McGaha of Sevierville; his parents, Carolyn and James McGaha of Newport; sisters, Lisa McGaha and Linda Mardis, both of Newport; brother, Ronnie McGaha of Newport; nieces, Whitney Marra and Amanda Cureton, both of Newport; nephews, Brad McGaha of Newport and Eric McGaha of Pigeon Forge; and sister-in-law, Iva Dawn McGaha of Newport.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Brown Funeral Chapel with Revs. Adam Sanders, Billy Bush and F.M. Blevins officiating. Interment will be in the Bryant Cemetery.

Lester Garlin Hall, 81, passed away Friday, at his residence in Knoxville.
Lester was a retired construction worker and of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Sallie (McGaha) Hall.
He is survived by two sons, Buddy and daughter-in-law, Ann Hensley and Jessie and daughter-in-law, Gail Hensley, all of Newport; one stepdaughter, Bobbie Jo Gray, of Morristown; two sisters, Mary Baker, of Knoxville and Oda Davis, of Gastonia, North Carolina; two grandchildren, Lisa Swann and Mike Finchum, both of Newport; four great grandchildren, Jake Swann, Jessa Swann, Chase Finchum, and Shane Finchum, all of Newport; and several nieces and nephews.

Wanda S. Holloway, age 69, of Newport, died Thursday, July 8, at Baptist Hospital of East Tennessee in Knoxville.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Newport.
She is survived by her son, Russell Holloway, of Newport; daughters, Anna Kapoor, of Johnson City and Julia Holloway, of Newport; brothers, W.C. Sauceman Jr., and Claude Sauceman, both of Newport; sister, Zena Sauceman, of Newport; two grandchildren, Sarah and Nathan Kapoor, of Johnson City; special nephews, Jesse Sauceman and Wilbur West; special niece, Dottie Ford; special great niece, Amanda Ford; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Riley Huffstetler ofÞciating with burial in Union Cemetery.

Mr. Olen Williamson, age 78, of Newport, passed Saturday morning, July 10, at the U.T. Medical Center in Knoxville.
Mr. Williamson was a US Army Veteran, having served during World War II. He was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Williamson was preceded in death by his wife, Viola Williamson and grandchildren, Crystal Gail White, Samantha Joyce Williamson, and Ronald Eugene Williamson.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Ellen Williamson; daughters and sons-in-law, Helen and Randy Thomas and Barbara and Ronnie Webb, and son, Billy Williamson, all of Newport; grandchildren, Lisa Marie Clevenger, Melia Clevenger, James Robert Thomas, Dustin Webb, Phillip Williamson, and Christopher Williamson, all of Newport; great grandchildren, Cody Lee Moore, Robert Shannon Thomas, and Kelsea Sheynne Williamson, all of Newport; sisters, Nola Frazier, of Canton, North Carolina and Margaret Woody, of Newport; brothers, Rufus Williamson, of Alcoa and Burt Williamson, of Gastonia, North Carolina. Additional survivors include several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Eva (Pete) Coley, of Gastonia, North Carolina and special nephew, Burl Williamson.

Katheryn Clevenger Lovell, 79, of Newport, died Sunday evening at her home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Paul (Tookie) Lovell.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Jackie Lovell of Newport; daughter, Connie Lynn Raines of Newport; daughter and son-in-law, Wesa and Tommy Greenway of Greeneville; brother, Clifford (Moose) Clevenger of Newport; sisters, Pauline Holen and Liz Joyce, both of Cleveland, Ohio, and Rosie Thornton of Chestnut Hill; grandchildren, Chase and Jordan Greenway of Greeneville, Todd and Derek Raines of Newport, and Richard Lane of Newport; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary Estelle (Stockdale) Williams, 91, of Newport, formerly of Sedalia, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, July 11.
She was a member of the Lynville United Methodist Church in Lynville, Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Horace J. and Rosa Brown Stockdale; brothers, Delton, Velton and Louis Stockdale; and sister, Zelma (Stockdale) Lawrence.
She is survived by her husband, James Henry Williams, presently living in Newport; brother, John Nelson (Square) Stockdale, presently living in Medina; sister, Louise (Stockdale) Gray of Detroit, Michigan; nephews, Jeff Gray of Detroit, Michigan, and Ray Stockdale of Parrottsville; niece, Linda Gray of Atlanta, Georgia; and great-nephews, Michael and Gary Stockdale.

Viola Cogdill Callison, of California, formerly of Newport, died December 23, 1998, in California.
Survivors: husband, Benjamin Callison of California; children, Benny Callison of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Jimmy Higgins of Utah; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Callison was cremated. Private graveside services were Friday, July 16, 1999. Interment was in Cogdill Cemetery.

Viola Ellis Presley, 79, of 2313 Acme Road, Belmont, North Carolina, died Wednesday, July 14, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.
A native of Dandridge, she was the daughter of the late Bruce C. and Nina Strange Ellis; a housewife; and a member of the Centerview Baptist Church in Belmont, North Carolina, where she formerly taught literacy school and was superintendent of the junior dept. for 45 years.
Surviving are her husband, Houston Presley; son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie Darrell and Donna M. Presley of Woodstock, Georgia; daughter and son-in-law, Iris Kaye Presley and Keith Passmore of Gastonia, North Carolina; brothers, Raymond Ellis of Chestnut Hill and Burnett Ellis of Newport; and grandchildren, Ronnie David and Timothy Scott Presley and Gary Darrell Holcomb.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 17, at 3 p.m., at the Bogarts Chapel U.M.C. in Chestnut Hill with Rev. Hal Kirk ofÞciating. Interment to follow in the Strange Family Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Simon; son, Jimmy Watts; parents, C.P. and Nannie Cox; brothers, Hugh Cox, Hal Cox, and Carroll Cox; sister, Jessie Cox McKinney; and half-brother, C.P. Cox Jr.

Ada Hilda Bush Sutton, 60, of Newport, died Thursday at Fort Sanders Medical Center in Knoxville.
She is survived by her husband, Arvil Sutton of Newport; sons, James, Carmen and Garland Sutton, all of Newport; daughters, Susie Grooms, Mary Sparks, and Carol and Betty Ann Sutton, all of Newport; brother, Joe Bush of New Jersey; and 13 grandchildren.

William A. Sheffey

William A. (Bill) Sheffey, age 82, passed away July 20, at Baptist Hospital of Cocke County.
He was retired from the Newport Police Department, was a Veteran of World War II, and was a member of First United Methodist Church, of Newport. He is survived by his wife, Sara Sheffey; sister, Emma Young, of Newport; daughter and devoted son-in-law, Nan and Harold Smith, of Newport; and son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Kathy Sheffey, of Atlanta, Georgia. Also by grandsons, Keith Smith and Larry Smith, of Newport, and A.J. Sheffey, of Atlanta, Georgia; and great-grandson, Jeffery Butler, of Newport. Funeral services will be handled by Manes Funeral Home, of Newport, Tennessee.
Friends and family will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 22, and services will be at 8 p.m. by Riley Huffstetler, pastor of First United Methodist Church, of Newport.

Charles Stopper McCoig

Charles Fred (Stopper) McCoig, 68, of 3305 Vickie Street, Morristown, passed away suddenly Sunday at his home after suffering a heart attack.
He was a retired employee of the Tennessee Department of Safety - the Highway Patrol Division. He was presently the owner-operator of the McCoig Construction Co.
He was a member of Leadvale Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertie Templin McCoig; a son, Charles Fred McCoig Jr.; and his parents, Charles and Rose Welch McCoig.
Survived by his wife, Marie Bishop McCoig of Morristown; son, Scotty McCoig of White Pine; sister, Bobbie Hair of White Pine; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Gerry McCoig and Bill and Carolyn McCoig, both of White Pine; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Leadvale Baptist Church with Rev. Kenneth Richey and Rev. Jim Duffell ofÞciating. The family will receive friends at the church from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. prior to services. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens at 11 a.m. Wednesday morning. Labe Wesley Phillips, 88, Newport, passed away Sunday evening following a short illness.
He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church, where he had served as deacon and chairman of the ushers for many years.
Labe had worked for Stokely-Van Camp for 55 years before his retirement in 1976.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Owens Phillips. He is survived by his children, Judy, and her husband, Harold Taylor of Newport and Steve Phillips and his wife, Peggie, of Louisville; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Brown Funeral Chapel with Dr. Charlie Boggan ofÞciating. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Brown Funeral Home.

Curtis Lee Trentham, 71, of Gregg Mill Road, Greeneville, died at 10:45 a.m. Monday, July 26, at Laughlin Memorial Hospital.
He was a part-time security guard at Five Rivers Electronics Innovations.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gradon William and Ella Holt Trentham; and three brothers, Maurice, J.H. and Robert “Bob” Trentham.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Lynn Trentham; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ricky Lee Trentham Sr. and wife, Billie, and Randall Lynn and Vicki Trentham; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra Gay and Anthony Carter, all of Greeneville, and Kimberly Ann and Chris Bennett of Jonesborough; nine grandchildren, Ricky Lee Trentham Jr., Michael Jay Trentham, Joshua Curtis Trentham, Christopher Matthew Trentham, Ashton Nicole Trentham, Thomas Graden Carter, Nathaniel Ethan Carter, Dakota Seth Bennett and Brittany Shyann Bennett; one great-grandchild, Dakota William Ragon; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Gradon and C.L. Shirley Louise Brown, 54, of Parrottsville, passed away Monday, July 26, at 10:55 a.m., at East Tennessee Baptist Medical Center following an extended illness.
She was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church of Newport.
She was employed by Hunts Food in Newport.
She was preceded in death by her father, Leonard Houston Reagan; and brother, Houston Reagan.
Survived by husband of 31 years, Edward “Hoppy” Brown of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Scott E. and Cheryl Brown of Bybee; grandchildren, Amber Caldwell and Josh Brown, both of Bybee; mother, Ralphine Reagan of Sevierville; sisters, Lola Maples, Mildred Hurst and Pauline Worley, all of Sevierville; sister, Kate Campbell of Newport; brothers, Ronnie Reagan and Kenneth Reagan, both of Sevierville, and Charles Reagan and Bobbie Reagan, both of Dandridge; several nieces and nephews; special nieces, Amy and Melissa Campbell of Newport; and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, at Farrar Funeral Home in Dandridge, with Reverend Kenneth Wilson and Reverend Eddie Young ofÞciating. Family and friends will gather at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 29, at Farrar Funeral Home in Dandridge, to proceed to Forrest Hills Baptist Church Cemetery in Parrottsville for a 2 p.m. graveside interment service.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. prior to services at the funeral home.

Glenn Ray Ford

Glenn Ray Ford, 48, of Hartford, died Wednesday, July 28, at Baptist Hospital of Cocke County.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Ford; brother, Abe Ford; and sister, Frances Ford.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia B. Ford of Hartford; son, Glenn Wesley Ford of Hartford; daughter, April Ford Smith of Sevierville; son-in-law, Rhett Cameron Smith of Sevierville; mother, Lula F. Williams; brother, Martin Lewis Ford, both of Hartford; sisters, Louise McGaha of Clinton, Carolyn Sue Ford of Hartford, and Janie R. Stokely of Cosby; special friend, Richard Coggins; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Blacks Chapel Church with Rev. Jerry Raines and Rev. Danny Green ofÞciating, with burial in the Ford Cemetery. The Lance Corporal Charles Roberts D.A.V. Chapter #102 will conduct the service.

Lillian Mildred Hannon, 71, of Newport, passed away Wednesday at Jefferson Memorial Hospital.
She attended the Edgemont Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Hannon; children, Beatrice Leheigh and Junior Hance; parents, Clara and Will Taylor; sisters, Agnes Arrington and Joyce Hance; and a brother, Harold Taylor.
Survivors include her children, Tony and wife, Regina Hannon; John and wife, Debbie Hannon; Charles Hance; Scotty Hance; and Carol and Chansey Perry, all of Newport; Ruby Jo and Charlie Sharp of White Pine; and Mike and Misty Hance of Morristown; sisters, Mary Kate Arrington and Peggy Carver, both of Newport; brothers, Willard Taylor of Newport and Buford Taylor of White Pine; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. Friday at the Brown Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Terry Wright and Rev. Roy Van Miller ofÞciating. Interment will be 10 a.m. Saturday in the Union Cemetery.

Donald “Shorty” Hill, 73, of Bybee, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 28, at Lakeway Regional Hospital.
He is survived by his daughters, Donna Hill of Bybee, Regina McMahan of Russellville, Kay SpadaÞno of Delaware, Carolyn Kite of Bulls Gap, and Teresa McCurry of Florida; son, Donnie Hill of Whitesburg; sisters, Jessie Vaughn of Surgoinsville, and Virginia Purkey, Genevia Purkey and Louise Holloway, all of Morristown; 10 grandchildren including special granddaughter, Tracie Trent; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Hobert Campbell and Rev. Ned Ramsey ofÞciating, with burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Russellville.

Albert Morrow, 76, of Del Rio, passed away Tuesday morning at his home following a short illness.
He was a member of the Edwina Church of God in Jesus Name.
Albert was a veteran of World War II and a retired farmer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Morrow; parents, Bertie and Tommy Morrow; sisters, Zorie Morrow; and brothers, Jodie, Lawson and Walter Morrow.
Survivors include his children, Imogene and her husband, Roger Sheets of Florence, South Carolina, Donald and his wife, Doris Morrow, Wanda Sparks, Benny Morrow and his wife, Maria, Susie Coggins, and Timothy Morrow, all of Newport, and James Morrow and his wife, Pamela of Del Rio; sisters, Victoria Jenkins of Cosby; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside military rites will be provided by Lance Corporal Charles C. Roberts Chapter 102 D.A.V.
