James Coakley Sr.
James Thomas Coakley Sr., 62, died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001, at his
home in Chapmansboro.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 17 at Boyd Funeral Home.
He is survived by his son, James Coakley Jr.; stepmother, Myra Coakley;
brother, Billy Joe Coakley; and sisters, Linda Gower, Nancy Musser and
Marge Kimberly.

Amanda Gabrielle Fraim, born and died at Baptist Hospital on Wednesday,
Nov. 14, 2001.
Graveside services were held Monday, Nov. 19 at Resurrection Cemetery
in Owensboro, Ky. She is survived by her parents, Paul and Teresa Fraim;
siblings, Ashleigh and Jonathan Fraim, all of Ashland City; grandparents
Paul C. and Anne Fraim of Campbellsville, Ky., Shirley J. Fraim of London,
Ky., Kathryn Wimsatt of Owensboro, Ky., and the late Owen D. Wimsatt.

Eva Morris
Eva Jackson Morris, 99, died Monday, Nov. 12, 2001. She was a lifelong
resident of Ashland City, having spent the last five years in Richmond,
Ky.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 17 at Boyd Funeral Home in
Ashland City with Bro. Cliett Goodpasture officiating. Interment was at
Forest Hill Cemetery.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Morris, her brothers
and sisters and one grandchild.
She is survived by sons, W. Alfred Morris of Richmond, Ky., Charles
Elihu Morris of Florence, Ala., Roy J. Morris of Franklin; one daughter,
Evelyn Morris Buffington of Florence, Ala.; eight grandchildren; and 10
great-grandchildren.

Ranch.

Betty Jane Rashid, 54, Pleasant View, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2001,
at her home.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Nov. 20 in the Oakhurst Chapel
of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Rev. Jewell Barrett and Rev.
Dale Homol officiating. Interment followed in Greenbrier Cemetery.
Mrs. Rashid was born May 7, 1947, in Montgomery County to the late
Ellis David and Cora Elizabeth Harris Stacey. She was an accounting technician
for the State of Tennessee. She was a member of the Battle Creek Baptist
Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jake Rashid.
She is survived by sons and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey Alex and Angel
Rashid of Chapmansboro and Brian Joseph Rashid of Pleasant View; brother,
Allen Stacey of Clarksville, sisters, Joyce Byrd of Greenbrier and Patsy
Slate of Clarksville; grandchildren, Jonathan Tyler Goff and Alexis Jane
Rashid.

She was a member of the Belmont United Methodist Church.

Alta Heard Felkins Woelk, 73, Ashland City, died Tuesday, Nov. 13,
2001, at her home.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Nov. 15 at Cheatham County Funeral
Home with burial in Collinwood Memorial Garden.
She was born in Wayne County, daughter of the late Alonza Allen and
Nipsie Katherine White Heard. She was retired from Bordeaux County Hospital
as a dietitian.
She was preceded in death by sister, Ailene Shubert; brother Earl Heard;
and two grandchildren.
Survivors include husband, George W. Woelk; children, William Billy
Felkins, Sherry Felkins Sherrill, Bonnie Woelk Hodge, George Woelk Jr.,
Henry Woelk, Charlie Woelk, Kenneth Woelk, Cindy Tarpley and Annita Forte;
brothers, Norman Heard of Collinwood, Gene Heard of Greenbrier; sister,
Grace Holt of Collinwood; 21 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren;
and several nieces and nephews.

Patricia Inez Carney, 67, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001.

Eddie Anthony Gentry, 54, Chapmansboro, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2001,
at Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville from injuries received from
an accident.

Funeral Home in Nashville with Rev. George Clark and Rev. John Mark Thomas
officiating.

Gentry was born in Gainesboro to Kenneth Gentry and Pauline Gentry
Koaster. He was senior vice president of the Educator’s Credit Union. He
was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pleasant View.
He is survived by his wife, P. Christine Gentry; two sons, Scott Gentry
of Lafayette and Brandon Gentry of Chapmansboro; one daughter, Dana G.
Gentry of Hendersonville; mother, Pauline Gentry Koaster; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bee Frazier; father, William

Rose and Brad Rose, both of Ashland City; sisters: Lola Perry and Cecile

Effie Tilghman
Effie Belle Dillingham Jordan Tilghman, 80, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2001.
Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 3 at Cheatham County Funeral
Home.
Born April 21, 1921, she was one of twin daughters, born near Petway
to the late Ben Dillingham of Sams Creek and Pauline Fowler Dillingham
(of Dickson County).
She was a “Rosie Riveter” during World WWII and loved Alvin Jordan
even as a young girl, graduated from Cheatham County High School and married
him after the war. In 1961, she became his widow and was mother of his
only child, Sandra Lynn Jordan Henderson, now living in New Mexico.
“Mrs. Effie,” as some called her, went on to make many friends at Acme
Boot in the 1950’s and later at The Klondike Cafe, where she worked as
a waitress. She spent the last 20 years of her life in Kentucky with her
son, Coleman Tilghman Jr., who still resides there.
She was preceded in death by siblings, toddler twin Lillie Delle Dillingham,
Rachel Bilbrey, Robbie Crouch, John Henry Dillingham, Raybon Dillingham,
Bennie Paul Dillingham, and many cousins with whom she played in the hills
above Sams and Pond Creek as a child.
She leaves behind sisters, Mattie M. Jordan, Alberta Sweeney and Georgia
Toney; grandsons, Mike and Keith Henderson; and great-grandson Jace Carl
Henderson of New Mexico.
She was a member of the Sams Creek Church of Christ and later the Lilimay
Church of Christ.

Wava Threatt Hayes, 81, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, at Cheatham County
Health Service Center in Ashland City.

in Palmyra.

She was retired from B.F. Goodrich and a member of Locust Groves Cumberland
Presbyterian Church.
Hayes was preceded in death by her father, Mannie M. Threatt, her mother,
Bessie Myers Threatt and her husband, Charles H. Hayes.
Survivors include stepson, David Music of Texas; brothers, Russell
Brandon Threatt of Radford, Va., and Paul Martin Threatt of Ashland City;
and two grandchildren.

Melvin Burton Oliver, 63, Ashland City, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001.

He is survived by son, Tracey Oliver and wife, Joleen Oliver, of Ashland
City; brother, Douglas Oliver, and wife, Jackie Oliver, of Chattanooga;
sister, Faye Caldwell and husband, Ken Caldwell, of Ashland City; two grandchildren:
Tracy and Leslie.
He was a member of the Ashland City Church of Christ, Ashland City
Lions Club and Ashland City Masonic Lodge.
