Mary Magdlene Braden, 79, of Lake City, died Thursday, June 8, at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. She was a member of the Fratersville Baptist Church. She was an employee at the Lake City Healthcare Center.

Shge was preceded in death by son Ernest Lee Braden; parents Charles Columbus and Lona Belle Hendrix Harness; sisters Nola Nelson, Lone Elliot, Rosie Harness, Beulah Harness, Margie Harness, Edith Vowell and Bonnie Long; brothers Roy, Leonard, Elmer, Floyd Harness, and Earl Hendrix.

She is survived by husband Leon "Buster" Braden; daughter Carolyn Cox; sons Ronnie and Benny Braden all of Lake City; 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Monday, June 11, at the Fratersville Baptist Church with Rev. Leslie Arwood, Rev. Bill Thomas, and Rev. Tom Byrge officiating. Interment was held in the Circle Cemetery in Briceville.

Bernard Chadwell, 63, of Jellico, died Thursday, June 7, at the Jellico Community Hospital.

He is survived by daughters Pam Gilreath of Jellico, Patricia Davis of LaFollette, Sharon Chadwell of Clinton, Nisa Parks of Nashville, Bethany Austin of Bloomington, Ind., Stella Brown of Cedar Key, Fla.; step-son Jim Carpenter of Locus Grove, Fla.; brother Tommy Overton of LaFollette; ex-wife Beverly Chadwell of Jellico; 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, June 10, at the Cox & Son Chapel with Rev. John Hunley officiating. Interment was in the Odd Fellow Cemetery at White Oak.

Novella H. Chambers, 85, of Elk Valley, died Wednesday, June 6, at Baptist Hospital, Knoxville. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elk Valley.

She was preceded in death by husband Francis J. Chambers; parents Sheridan (Red) and Beatrice Ledford; and brothers J.B. and Oha Ledford.

She is survived by sons Roger and Gary Chambers; sisters Iva Lee Young and Azalee Littrell; 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 9, at the Elk Valley First Baptist Church with Rev. Earl Chapman officiating. Interment was held in the Valley View Cemetery.

Gladys Myers Craig, 82, of Monroe, Mich., died Wednesday, June 6, at Mercy Memorial Nursing Care Center. She was a member of the Monroe Missionary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by son James Craig; and parents O.G. and Marie (LuLow) Myers.

She is survived by husband Jess James Craig; son David G. of Monroe; brothers Carlock Myers of LaFollette, Daniel W. Myers of Swanton, Ohio, Wade A. Myers of Unionville, Tenn., and Bruce Myers of Grainger County; sisters Vera Sherrill of Lewiston, Idaho, Marie Thomas of Scranton, Iowa, Alta Ayers of Miamisburg, Ohio, Wilma Turner and Ruby Parrott both of LaFollette and Frankie Langton of Carleton, Mich.; 2 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Friday, June 8, with Rev. Roy Southerland officiating. Interment was held in the Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle, Mich.

Shirley J. Ford Henson

Shirley J. Ford Henson, 57, of 206 Russell Towers, LaFollette, died Wednesday, June 6, at the St. Maryís Medical Center of Campbell County. She attended the Ford Town Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by parents Roy and Agnes Orick Ford.

She is survived by sons Jerry Hicks of Briceville, Tommy Hicks of Maryville and Lynn Hicks of Hazel Park, Mich.; daughter Nicole Henson of Speedwell; brothers Mike Ford of Speedwell of Jeff Ford of LaFollette; sisters Linda Farmer and Rhonda Chapman both of Speedwell, and Debbie Boshears of LaFollette; and 10 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Friday, June 8, at the Ford Town Baptist Church with Rev. David Hicks officiating. Interment was held in the Indian Creek Cemetery.

Troy Lee Heck

Troy Lee Heck, born June 15, 1931, passed away Feb. 1, 2001 in Era Michigan. Funeral services were held at Rupp Funeral Home in Monroe, Mich.

For 30 years he owned and operated Troy's Woodwork and Pellett Mfg. Co., in Monroe. Upon retiring he moved to LaFollette, Tenn. and had lived here for 5 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Mary Alice (Evans) Heck and sister, Janice Marie.

Survivors are his step-mother, Irene Heck of Monroe, four sons, Danny Heck of Vandalia Ohio, Gary Curtis Heck of Ogden, Utah, Allen Heck and Tim Heck of Erie Mich.; daughters, Bonnie Paggenkolf of Westland Mich., Guenda Roberts of Ogden, Utah, Debbie Turrentine, Monroe, Mich.; brother, Glenn Heck of Monroe; sisters, Dorothy Giebel of Ida, Mich., Dedra Bussell of Tazewell, Tenn.; aunts, Leora McNew of LaFollette, Tenn., Easter Drummonds and Hazel Heck of Speedwell, Jean Evans, Monroe, Mich.; uncles, A.B. and Curtis Evans of Monroe; 19 grandchildren, and 16 Great-grandchildren and a host of cousins and friends.

Rosa Hicks, 95, of LaFollette, died Friday, June 8, at St. Maryís Medical Center of Campbell County. She was a member of the Jacksboro Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by husband Edwin H. Hicks, Sr.; and daughters Icie Moore, Dicie Johnson and June Hicks.

She is survived by children Susan Collin of Caryville, Ginger Bunch of Caryville, Edwin H. Hicks Jr. of LaFollette, Lucinda Mcghee of New Carlisle, Ohio, Carl T. Hicks of Jacksboro, and Judith Ann Swanton of New Carlisle, Ohio; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at Jacksboro Church of Christ with Minister Thomas Robinson officiating. Interment was held in the Hicks Cemetery.

John P. (J.P.) Jones

John P. (J.P.) Jones, 81, of 404 N. 9th St., LaFollette, died Tuesday, June 5, at the St. Maryís Medical Center of Campbell County. He was a member of the Ivy Dale Church of God.

He was preceded in death by wife Vireda Bailey Jones; parents Harry and Luiza Leach Jones; and sister Laura Wilson.

He is survived by sons Martin Sanford (Pete), Harry Edward and John Jones, Jr., all of LaFollette; daughters Mary Ruth Anderson, Lula Mae Carroll, Carolyn Ford, Nancey Condrey and Darlene Williams all of LaFollette, and Margaret Jones of Cincinnati; brothers Harley and Elmer Jones both of LaFollette; sister Carrie Smith of Corbin, Ky.; 26 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, June 7, at the New Ivy Dale Church of God with Rev. Junior Dilbeck officiating. Interment was held in the Peabody Cemetery.

Robert "Bob" F. Kava, 54, of 103 Havelock Drive, Fountain Inn, S.C., died Saturday, June 9, at the St. Frances Hospital in Greenville, S.C. He was of the Baptist Faith.

He was preceded in death by parents and step-son Lonnie Kerr.

He is survived by wife Karen Cordell Kava of Fountain Inn, S.C.; son Carl Kava; daughter Barbara Delaney both of Penn.; brother Charles Kava of Anne Arbor, Mich.; and 2 grandchildren.

Lonnie Wayne Kerr, 29, of 103 Havelock Drive, of Fountain Inn, S.C. died Sunday, June 10, at his home in S.C. He was of the Baptist Faith. He was a U.S. Marines Veteran.

He was preceded in death by step-father Robert Kava; and grandfather.

He is survived by father Lonnie H. Kerr of Belcher, Ky., and mother Karen Cordell Kava of Fountain Inn, S.C.; sister Brooke Kerr of Belcher, Ky., and 1 grandmother.

Marie "Shug" Lovitt Lynch, 73, of Kentucky, died June 9. She was retired from the Berkeley County School System.

She was preceded in death by husband Harold Edward Lynch; parents Ola Lovitt and Laura Perkins Lovitt Leach; and sister Jerry Helmey.

She is survived by son Lonnie H. "Tony" of Aynor, S.C.; daughter Sherry Lynch of Goose Creek, S.C.; 3 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held on Tuesday, June 11, at the Carolina Memorial Gardens.
 

Albert Joseph "Dolly" Parks

Albert Joseph "Dolly" Parks, 70, of Briceville, died Tuesday, June 5, at her residence. He was a member of the Laurel Grove Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by parents Cecil and Arpie Parks; sons Ricky and Joe Parks; and brothers Cecil, Jr., and Chester Parks.

He is survived by wife Lola Mae Parks of Briceville; daughter Vickie Disney of Oliver Springs; step-sons Tim and Terry Long both of Clinton; sisters Opal Braden of Lake City, Emily Duncan of Clinton, Betty Vowell of Jacksboro, and Claudine Harden of Knoxville; brothers L.E. Parks of Memphis and Carter Parks of Clinton; 1 grandson and 4 step-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, June 7, at the Holley-Gamble Funeral Home with rev. David White and Audrey Goins officiating. Interment was held in the Laurel Grove Cemetery in the Laurel grove community in Briceville.

Helen Alberta Phillips Parks

Helen Alberta Phillips Parks, 87, of Lake City, died June 7, at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. She was a member of the Clear Branch Baptist Church. She worked in the finishing department at Magnet Mills.

She was preceded in death by husband Arthur F. Parks; parents Issac and Mabel Pryor Phillips; son Wayne Oliver Parks; daughter Wilma Jean Parks; brothers Bill, Otis and Kenneth Phillips; and one grandchild.

She is survived by daughters Janie Hill of Lake City and Mary Hill of Jefferson City; sons James and Ralph Parks both of Lake City; 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 9, at the Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City with Rev. Rick Teague and Rev. Tom Byrge officiating. Interment was held in the Leach Cemetery in Lake City.

Betty Richardson, 70, of Jacksboro, died Friday, June 8, at Methodist Medical Center in Ok Ridge. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by parents Jimmy and Hazel Jones; brothers Bill Jones; and granddaughter.

She is survived by husband Bob Richardson of Jacksboro; daughters Sharon Stooksbury of Jacksboro, Nancy Beasley of Caryville; sisters Imogene Elkins of LaFollette, and Azilee Bhend of Hutson, Wisconson; brother J.D. Jones of Jacksboro; and 2 grandchildren.

Leon Sweat, 71, of 555 Blue Springs rd., Speedwell, died Sunday, May 27, at his home. He was of the Baptist Faith.

He was preceded in death by wife Juanita Ivey Sweat; parents Casper and Ethel Violett Sweat; and sister Bonnie Maxwell.

He is survived by sons James Donald, Billy and Maynard Sweat all of LaFollette, and James Anthony Sweat of Sumter, S.C.; daughters Janet Miller of LaFollette and Phyllis Weaver of Jacksboro; brothers Clayton Sweat of LaFollette, Louie Sweat of Conway, S.C., and Clarence Sweat of Athens, Tenn.; sisters Opal Dubose Sumter, S.C. and Carolene Bogard of Pillion, S.C.; 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

William (Bill) Allen, 78, of Helenwood, Tenn., formerly of Campbell County, died Friday, August 3 at Fort Sanders Parkwest Medical Center of Knoxville. He was a member of the Helenwood Baptist Church and a member of The Robbbins Masonic Lodge. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pryor and Minnie Bolton Allen, wife Elma Byrd Allen, son Ernie Allen, brother David Allen and sister Dina Brewer

He survived by daughter Mable Goad; son Craig Allen of Helenwood Tenn.; brother Charlie Allen; sister Rosella Cross and several grandchildren and great-great children.

He was preceded in death by his wife Louise Heath Van Camp; son James Phillips, daughter Betty Townsend; parents Ross Irving and Bertha Van Camp. 

He is survived by wife Gladys Phillips Van Camp of Caryville; daughters Agnes and Margaret of New York, Betty Kash of LaFollette, Barbara Phillips of Ca., Wanda Goble of Caryville; sons Lee and Tommy Phillips of Caryville and several grandchildren, great-great grandchildren.

Artie L. Hicks, 83, Brighton, Tenn., died Friday, Aug 3, at Baptist Memorial Tipton in Covington, Tenn.; She was a member of Pilgrim Holiness.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Clarence Hicks, daughter Linda Kay Hicks and son Charles Hicks.

She is survived by sons Russell W. Hicks of Cowan Tenn., Dallon F. Hicks of Eastaboga Alabama, James R. Hicks, Dennis L. Hicks of Havrdegrace Maryland, brothers Charles F. Hensley Jr. of Powell, Doyle Hensley of LaFollette, Howard Hensley of Dayton Ohio. several grandchildren.

Gary Wayne Jackson, 40, of Jacksboro, died Thursday, Aug 2, suddenly in an automobile accident. 

He is survived by mother and father Kathleen Jackson of Jacksboro father Ronnie Wilson of Maryville; sister Kimberly Etanifer of Knoxville; brothers Daniel Wilson of Maryville, Joseph Wilson of Knoxville; grandparents James and Bertha Bruce of Jacksboro

Orville Parrott, 64, of Newport Ky., formerly of Clairfield, died Saturday, July 28, at St. Luke East Hospital, Ft. Thomas, and Ky. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Parrott; sister Shirley Marlow; brothers Johnny Parrott and Bill Parrott.

He is survived by wife, Virginia Humphrey Parrott of Newport, Ky; mother Viola Humphrey Parrott of Newport, Ky.; sons David Parrott of Cold Spring, Ky.; Edward Parrott of Alexander, Ky.; Greg Parrott of Cincinnati, Ohio; sisters Kathy Rogers and Janice Osborne, both of LaFollette; Judy Davis of Clairfield; Jackie Waldroop of Florence, Ky.; brothers Charles Parrott of Powell; R.L. Parrott of Bellevue Ky.; Ken Parrott of Centerville, Oh.

The funeral services were Tuesday, July 31, at Cox and Son Chapel, with Rev. Danny King officiating. Interment was in the Douglas Cemetery.

Emma Jane Perry, 58, of Duff died Thursday, Aug 2, at her home. 

She is survived by sons Alex Stephnson Williamson of Tackett Creek and Lewis Eugene Perry of. LaFollette; daughters Wilma Bills of Williamsbury KY, Maria Shell Lovitt of Duff; half-brother Jessie Lee Steward of LaFollette and several grandchildren 

Funeral services were Sunday, Aug 5, at Tackett Creek Full Gospel Church with Rev. Ray Woods and Rev. Wade Walls officiating. Interment was at Douglas Cemetery.

Wheeler L. Ridenour

Wheeler L. Ridenour, 86, of Jacksboro, died Saturday, Aug 4, at his home. He was a member of Jacksboro First Baptist Church a Navy Veteran of WWII, and retired Building and Trades teacher after 25 years.

He was preceded in death by wife Elizabeth Hope Ridenour, son Keith Rideour, parents Oscar Lee and Callie M. Richardson Ridenour, sister Bonny Kate Heatherly, brothers Bill and Gene Ridenour. 

He is survived by son Roger Hope of Lake City, sister Trula Fulkersn of Winchester Tenn. 

Funeral services were on Monday, Aug 6, at Martin Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Charles Parker and Dr. Ron Ridenour officiating. Interment was Tuesday at Jacksboro Cemetery with full military honors by the Campbell County Honor Guard.
