The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Covenant Baptist Church, with Dr. Bert Welch officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Great Falls.

Mrs. Allen was a member of First Baptist Church in Safety Harbor, Fla.

Surviving are her son, Dr. Lee Thomas of Lancaster; her stepson, Doyle Allen of Camden; her brother, Steve Powers; two sisters, Margaret Higgins of Charlotte and Willie Jamison of Tennessee; and five grandchildren.

FORT MILL - Mrs. Pauline Mae Archie, 80, of 127 Kanawha St. died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Sisk Memorial Baptist Church, with the Rev. Roland Dry officiating. Burial will be at Unity Cemetery.

Mrs. Archie was a retired domestic worker and the widow of Marshall "Rip" Archie. She was a member of Sisk Memorial Baptist Church.

Surviving are two sons, Marshall Wayne Archie of Charlotte and Danny Lee Archie of Fort Mill; two daughters, Betty Lou Threadgill of Fort Mill and Linda Ann Lowery of Rock Hill; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

CLOVER - Mrs. Deborah Lynn Gibson Burkett, 43, of 1192 Galway Lane died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 1998, at Gaston Memorial Hospital in Gastonia, N.C.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Colonial Chapel of Carothers Funeral Home in Gastonia, with the Rev. Loy Wooten officiating. Burial will be at Gaston Memorial Park.

A native of Gaston County, Mrs. Gibson worked on the assembly line at John Deere and attended Bethel Freewill Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband, William Eugene Burkett; her son, Scotty Eugene Burkett of Bessemer City, N.C.; two daughters, Crystal Cherwieth Burkett of the home and Ginger Ybette Burkett of Clover; four brothers, Ronnie Lewis Gibson, Gary Wayne Gibson and David Lee Gibson, all of Gastonia, N.C., and Randy Clifford Gibson of Kings Mountain, N.C.; her sister, Patsy Jean Nations of Kings Mountain, N.C.; and four grandchildren.

GREAT FALLS - Mrs. Emma Lucille Cadden, 55, of 5415 Old Winnsboro Road died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 1998, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Mitford Baptist Church, with the Rev. James Stevens officiating.

Mrs. Cadden was employed with J.P. Stevens Co. and attended Lancaster County schools.

Surviving are her son, William Samuel "Billy" Hinson of Nicholson, Ga.; two daughters, Mary Gladys "Susie" Hargett of Great Falls and Vivian Geraldine Siggers of Winder, Ga.; three brothers, Kenneth James Plyler of Great Falls, Danny Plyler of Chester and Billy Rollins of Lancaster.

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Genola Ramsey Clinton, 78, died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 1998, at Magnolia Manor.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Lando Cemetery, with the Rev. Jim Leppard officiating.

A native of Lando, Mrs. Clinton was retired from Manetta Mills. She was a member of Heath Memorial United Methodist Church and was the widow of Roy Clinton Sr.

Surviving are her son, Roy Clinton Jr. of McConnells; her daughter, Janice Broom of Edgemoor; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Robert Cobb Sr.

LANCASTER - Mr. Robert William Cobb Sr., 77, of 2510 Downey Drive died Thursday, Dec. 24, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral and burial will be in Washington, N.J.

Mr. Cobb was a native of Harrison, N.J., and was a retired employee of Bell Laboratories, where he worked in research and development. He was the widower of Eileen Cobb.

Surviving are three sons, Raymond Cobb of Bangor, Pa., and Philip Cobb and Donald Cobb, both of Lancaster; his daughter, Eileen Dockry of Bangor; his sister, Jean O'Gureck of Manchester, Tenn.; and nine grandchildren.

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Estelle Raines McCullough of 1017 Glenarden Dr., Apt. G, died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Rock Grove AME Zion Church in Rock Hill, with pastor Rev. Ralph V. Washington officiating and the Rev. John Brown assisting. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. McCullough was a native of Fairfield County, where she graduated from high school. She was a member of Rock Grove AME Zion Church.

Surviving are five daughters, Willie Mae Williams, Johnnie Mae McCullough and Agnes McCullough, all of Rock Hill, Thelma Shivers of Hempstead, N.Y., and Sally McCullough of Uniondale, N.Y.; two sons, Charles McCullough of Jamaica, N.Y., and John McCullough Jr. of Rock Hill; 24 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Robinson Funeral Home.

YORK - Mrs. Pauline Finnell Reid Moore, 77, of 112 Trenton Place died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Wesley United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Keith Hunter officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens.

A native of York, Mrs. Moore was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and chairwoman of the Health and Welfare Committee. She was the widow of Phillip Moore.

Surviving are two sons, Samuel Martin Moore of Charlotte and Paul Thomas Moore of York; four daughters, Sheila M. Tolbert of Clover, Phyllis M. Ward of York, and Joyce Moore and Connie D. Moore, both of the home; her brother, Carl Lawrence of Philadelphia; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Sammy Truesdale

ROCK HILL - Mr. Sammy Lee "Fat" Truesdale, 69, of 1215 Sanders St. died Monday, Dec. 21, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Boyd Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. B.R. Wilson officiating and the Revs. Charles H. Williams and Hazel Hill assisting. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Truesdale was formerly employed by the city of Rock Hill in the sanitation department. He was educated in York County public schools. He was a member of Boyd Hill Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Mass Choir.

Surviving are his daughter, Betty Edwards of Rock Hill; three brothers, Charles Truesdale, Bozzie Truesdale and Calvin Truesdale Sr., all of Rock Hill; his sister, Bessie Hemphill of Rock Hill; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Boyd Hill Baptist Church and at other times at the home.

The body may be viewed from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at Parker Funeral Home.

LANCASTER - Mr. Kenneth Earl "Catfish" Ackerman, 64, of 207 N. White St. died Saturday, Dec. 26, 1998, at Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Monday at Hartley Funeral Home, with the Rev. Grady Ghent officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Lancaster, Mr. Ackerman served more than 20 years in the Navy and attended Springdell Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Josephine Ackerman of the home; his son, Kenneth Ackerman of Charleston; four stepsons, Tony McDonald of Milton, Fla., Wayne McDonald of Lucedale, Miss., and Stephen McDonald and Harold McDonald, both of Lancaster; two stepdaughters, Debbie Drost of Huntsville, Texas, and Brenda Gaston of Fort Lawn; two brothers, Thomas Ackerman of Simpsonville and Jimmy Ackerman of Lancaster; three sisters, Hazel Hegler and Vera Haynes, both of Lancaster, and Joanne Ghent of Liberty Hill; and his grandchild.

SMYRNA - Mr. Minor Revere Benton, 55, of 1412 McKnight Road died Thursday, Dec. 24, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

A native of Kings Mountain, N.C., Mr. Benton was a retired textile worker. He was of the Church of God faith.

CLOVER - Mr. William Henry Downs, 75, of 1420 Sherwood Road died Thursday, Dec. 24, 1998, at his home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at York Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Correll Jr. officiating.

A native of Norfolk, Va., Mr. Downs served with the Army in World War II and won the Bronze Star. He was a retired mechanic and was the widower of Ellen Hicks Downs.

Surviving are three sons, James Downs of Charleston, William Downs of York and Michael Downs of Hickory Grove; his sister, Margaret McKee of Gastonia, N.C.; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

CHESTER - Mr. John Howard Gregory, 65, of 2314 W. Baltimore St. in Baltimore died Saturday, Dec. 19, 1998, at his home.

A native of Chester County, he attended Zion Pilgrim Baptist Church and was educated in Chester County public schools.

A native of York County, Mrs. Platt worked at Samark and Rug Mill, Efrid's Department Store and Rock Hill Printing & Finishing Co. She was a charter member of Lakewood Baptist Church and was the widow of Daniel Noah Platt.

Surviving are her son, Bill Platt of Rock Hill; her daughter, Dot Hutchinson of Rock Hill; four sisters, Essie Hope, Edna Hoover, Virginia Neely and Frankie Armstrong, all of Rock Hill; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

A native of Charlotte, Mr. Reeves was a retired pipefitter. He served with the Army and the Merchant Marine during the Korean conflict and was a member of the United Association of Plumbing and Pipefitters Industry Union No. 96-421.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy Reeves; his son, Jimmy Reeves of Rock Hill; his father, James Reeves Sr. of Charlotte; his brother, Ken Reeves of Charlotte; three sisters, Joyce Braswell and Betty Stallings, both of Charlotte, and Doris Robbins of Indian Springs, Ala.; and two grandchildren.

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Mr. Clifford William Comer, 90, of 722-E Center St., Mooresville, N.C., died Saturday, Dec. 26, 1998, at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Guilford Memorial Park.

A native of Yadkin, N.C., Mr. Comer attended Providence Church of God. He was a former member of Clearview Faith Temple and retired after 60 years as a carpenter.

Surviving are four sons, R.G. Comer, Larry Comer and Lloyd Comer, all of Greensboro, and Boyd Comer of York; two daughters, Linda Crawford of Statesville, N.C., and Judy Haynesworth of Greensboro; three sisters, Nola Anthony, Ida Doss and Pauline Smith, all of Greensboro; 17 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

A native of Gaffney, Mrs. Cook attended United Methodist Church in Jackson Heights, N.Y. She retired from Home Life Insurance Co. and was a member of the United Women's Group, the College Club, the Southern Society of Jackson Heights and the Golden Age Club. Mrs. Cook taught Sunday school for several years. She was the widow of John Karl Cook.

Surviving are her daughter, Margaret Jane McTaggart, of Kershaw; and two grandchildren.

A native of Lawrence County, Ark., Mrs. Garrison was a nurse at Piedmont Medical Center. She received the Nurse of the Year award several times during her career.

A native of Timmonsville, Mrs. Holt retired as a public school teacher after working in the area for 46 years. She was the widow of the Rev. James Rufus.

Surviving are her son, Thomas Holt, of Omaha, Neb.; two daughters, Marian White of Columbia and Jane Carnes of Lancaster; 18 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

A native of Chesnee, Mr. Jolley graduated from Wofford College and was a former member of the National Guard. A lifetime member of Catawba Lodge 56, Mr. Medlin was a retired master craftsman from Bowater. He was a member of the Eastern Star, the rifle squad of the American Legion, Fort Mill Moose Lodge No. 1240 and the men's Bible class of St. John's United Methodist Church. Mr. Medlin was a Navy veteran and attended Clemson College.

CHESTER - Mrs. Daisy Burnett "Cookie" Wilson, 64, of 136 York St. died Saturday, Dec. 26, 1998, at Providence Hospital in Columbia.

Mrs. Wilson was a Greenwood native. She was a former school teacher and retired from the Chester County school district as a media specialist. She also taught school in Dekalb County, Ga., and in York. She had a bachelor's degree and master's degree from Winthrop University. She was a member of Purity Presbyterian Church, where she worked as a Sunday school teacher and deacon. She had been chairwoman of the Woman's Circle and moderator of Presbyterian Women. She served as chairwoman of the Pastor Nomination Committee and was a member of the handbell choir and the D.A.R.

Surviving are her husband, James A Wilson; two sons, James A. Wilson Jr. of Chester and Dr. William E. Wilson of Mount Pleasant; two daughters, Elizabeth W. Whitesides of York and Mary W. Pettus of Chester; and her sister, Mary Ellen Stricklin of Athens, Ohio.

A native of Henderson County, N.C., Mrs. Calvert was employed as a secretary with Celanese Corp. in Rock Hill for more than 20 years. She was a charter member of the Rock Hill Chapter of Professional Secretaries International and spent two terms as president. She was a member of Woodland United Methodist Church in Rock Hill.

Surviving are her daughter, Patricia C. Newton of Brevard, N.C.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

HONG KONG - Mr. James R. Reiney Jr., 58, the son of James R. Reiney Sr. and Lovice C. Reiney, formerly of Rock Hill, died Saturday, Dec. 19, 1998.

A native of Lynville, Tenn., Mr. Reiney was a retired employee of Bechtel Corp. and a current employee of AES China. He was a 1962 graduate of The Citadel and an Army veteran.

ROANOKE, Va. - Mr. William C. "Capus" Worthy, 86, of 3012 Limewood Road, formerly of Leeds Community, died Saturday, Dec. 26, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Sweets Baptist Church in Roanoke.

A native of Chester County, Mr. Worthy was educated in Chester County public schools. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Hattie Worthy; two sons, Leon Worthy of Baltimore and William Worthy Jr. of Virginia; two sisters, Lillie Mae Williams of Reading, Pa., and Bernice Watson of New York City.

Hamlar-Curtis Funeral Home is in charge.

Christopher King Funeral Home, 703 Old York Road, is in charge of local arrangements.
