CHARLOTTE -"Mr. Gregory John Boyna, 62, of Charlotte died Thursday, July 30, 1998, at Renaissance Health and Rehabilitation Center.

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at River Hills Community Church, with the Rev. Edward McDevitt officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

Mr. Boyna was a member of the Lake Wylie Catholic Church. He was retired from the U.S. Marine Corps and the Cabarrus County School System,

Surviving are two sons, Brad and Brett Boyna, both of Concord, N.C.; two daughters, Nadine Lubejko of Charlotte and Corinne Lorenz of Matthews, N.C.; two sisters, July Nochowicz of Franklin, Tenn., and Peggy Cleary of Lafayette, Ind.; and five grandchildren.

LAKE WYLIE - Mrs. Alice Humphries Duncan of 6 Oakwood Lane died Friday, July 31, 1998.

Surviving are her husband, Ronald Duncan; her son, Douglas E. Duncan; her daughter, Linda D. Flower; six brothers; three sisters; two grandchildren; and her great-grandchild.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Mrs. Lucille McClurkin English, 81 of 200 33rd St. NE, died Monday, July 27, 1998 at George Washington University Hospital.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at the First Baptist Church of Deanwood, with the Rev. William Bennett officiating. Burial will be at Arlington Cemetery.

A native of Rock Hill, Mrs. English was a former member of Flint Hill Baptist Church in Rock Hill. She retired from the Bureau of Engraving in 1973.

Surviving are two brothers, E. David McClurkin of Rock Hill and Willie McClurkin of Washington, D.C.

Clarence Faulkenberry

KERSHAW - Mr. Clarence O. "Mutt" Faulkenberry, 85, of 360 Youngs Bend Road died Friday, July 31, 1998, at the Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at the Bethany Baptist Church, with the Revs. Robert Rivers and Dale McCoy officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Faulkenberry was a member and deacon at Bethany Baptist Church and was a retired electrical maintenance worker for Duke Power Company. Mr. Faulkenberry was also a mason and past master of the Flat Rock Lodge #178.

Surviving are two sons, Bernard Hugh Faulkenberry of Rock Hill and Roger Faulkenberry of Kershaw; two brothers, Jones Faulkenberry of Lancaster and Johnny Faulkenberry of Belmont, N.C., two sisters, Pauline Carlton of Marion, Va., and Evelyn Marinko of Kershaw; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Cauthen Funeral Home, Kershaw Chapel and at other times at the home, 360 Youngs Bend Road.

Grady Patton

YORK - The Rev. Grady L. Patton, 49, of 321 Sandifer Road died Wednesday, July 29, 1998, at Palmetto Baptist Medical Center in Columbia.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Langrum Branch Baptist Church in York, with the Rev. Osbey Roddey officiating, and the Revs. W. G. Boulware, Albert Young, Dariel Jackson, Robert Entzminger, A.L. Hensley, W.T. Massey and W.E. Page assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

The Rev. Patton joined Langrum Branch Baptist Church at an early age. While there, he was a deacon, Sunday school teacher and Hymn Choir leader. He was called into the ministry and became pastor of Armenia Baptist Church. He most recently was the pastor of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Blackstock.

He was a member of the Tri-County Masonry Association. He was past secretary of the Sandy River Lower Division Association and a member of the executive board.

He was a self-employed brick mason, a 1969 graduate of Jefferson High School in York and a graduate of Jacksonville Theological Seminary in Jacksonville, Fla.

Surviving are his wife, Yvonne Bowen Patton; three sons, Jody T. Patton of Gastonia, N.C., Telly S. Patton of Clover and Jabari A. Patton of the home; his daughter, Angel M. McCaskill of Gastonia, N.C.; three brothers, Nathaniel Patton of Rock Hill, Charles Patton of York and Sgt. Emmanuel Patton of Richmond, Va.; six sisters, Mary Patton, Delores Ervin, Margaret Wright and Shirley Shannon, all of York, Dorothy Smith of Freeport, N.Y., and Christine Crosby of Rock Hill; and seven grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 tonight at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Blackstock.

The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Sunday.

William Perry

CHESTER -"Mr. William Benjamin Perry, 77, of 1635 Albert Road died Thursday, July 30, 1998, at Chester County Nursing Center.

A graveside service will be 4 p.m. today at Evergreen Cemetery, with the Rev. Steven Bishop officiating.

Mr. Perry was a native of Chester County. He was a farmer and attended the schools of Chester County.

Surviving are nieces and nephews.

Jonathan Shrum

ROCK HILL - Mr. Jonathan Mark Shrum, 24, of 306 Grady Drive died Wednesday, July 29, 1998, at Richland Memorial Hospital.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Oakland Baptist Church, with the Revs. Billie Hanks Jr. and Harold Shirley officiating.

Mr. Shrum was a student at the University of South Carolina, where he was a officer in the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He attended Northwestern High School and graduated from Rabun Gap Nacoochee in Rabun Gap, Ga. He was a member of Oakland Baptist Church.

Surviving are his mother, Jo Ella Craig Shrum of Tega Cay; his father and stepmother, the Rev. Robert and Rosemary Shrum of Rock Hill; three brothers, Stephen Dale Shrum, Jason Earl Shrum and David Christopher Shrum, all of Rock Hill; his sister, Laura Elizabeth Shrum of Rock Hill and Tega Cay; and his maternal grandmother, Betty W. Craig of Columbia.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Robert James "Bob" Armstrong, 74, of 1345 Pinecrest Drive died Saturday, Aug. 1, 1998, at his home.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Monday at St. John's United Methodist Church, with Dr. W. Timothy McClendon and the Rev. Linda Dunn officiating.

Mr. Armstrong was a retired plant manager for the J.P. Stevens' Aragon Plant. He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, where he had served as a Sunday school teacher and a member of the administrative board. He was a past member of the Elks Club.

Surviving are his wife, Betty Davis Armstrong; four daughters, Cathy Kemp of York, Patty Hovis and Jane Armstrong, both of Rock Hill, and Gaye Ehmann of Fuquay Varina, N.C.; two brothers, William Stewart Armstrong of Simpsonville and Lucius Armstrong of Greenville; his sister, Kathryn A. Jenkins of Fork Shoals; and nine grandchildren.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Zerry Conway "Zeke" Baker, 69, of 127 Dotson St. died Saturday, Aug. 1, 1998.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Ebenezer A.R.P. Church, with Dr. Boyce Wilson, Dr. Jack Basie and the Rev. Charles Mitchell officiating.

Mr. Baker was retired after 38 years of employment as maintenance engineer for the S.C. Department of Highways and Public Transportation. He was a member of Ebenezer A.R.P. Church, where he was a deacon, an elder, a member of the adult choir and was named Elder Emeritus.

Surviving are his wife, Flora Mickle Baker; his daughter, Laura Holland of Rock Hill; and two grandchildren.

KERSHAW - Mr. Richard Jackson Faulkenberry, 44, of 8567 Flat Creek Road died Friday, July 31, 1998, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

Mr. Faulkenberry was a carpenter and a member of Eastside Baptist Church of Rock Hill.

Wilson of Kershaw; his parents, the Rev. Hubert "Bully" Faulkenberry and Marian Faile Faulkenberry of Rock Hill; his brother, John "Mac" Faulkenberry of Conyers, Ga.; two sisters, Tina Rabon of Chester and Lisa Funderburk of Rock Hill; and his maternal grandparents, Tom and Vivian Taylor of Kershaw.

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Agnes S. Holler of 2005 Lynn Circle died Saturday, Aug. 1, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

Mrs. Holler was retired from Springs Industries. She was a graduate of Rock Hill High School and Kings Business College in Charlotte. She was a member of Woodland United Methodist Church. Mrs. Holler was the widow of Joseph M. Holler.

Surviving are her mother, Ora H. Settlemyer of Rock Hill; two sisters, Margaret Crocker of Rock Hill and Arline Holt of Kingsport, Tenn.; her nephew; and three nieces.

Samuel Feemster Sr.

SHARON - Mr. Samuel Feemster Sr., 81, of 988 Blanton Road died Thursday, July 30, 1998, in his home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday in the Wilson Chapel AME Zion Church, with the Rev. Dennis McCleave officiating. The Rev. William Good will assist. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Feemster was a self-employed painter, carpenter and farmer. He was a member of Wilson Chapel AME Zion Church, where he served as church secretary for 53 years as well as a trustee, Sunday school superintendent, Sunday school teacher and church leader. He also was president of the Adult Singing Convention, a member of The Hymn Chorus and a member of Hoodtown Masonic Lodge No. 433.

Surviving are his wife, Adell Parker Feemster; three sons, Samuel Feemster Jr. and Collie Feemster, both of Spartanburg, and Carl Feemster of Clover; his daughter, Barbara Black of Ft. Riley, Kan.; his brother, Joe Saye Feemster of Gastonia, N.C.; and nine grandchildren.

LANCASTER - Mr. William Uriah Hunter, 74, of 993 Sherwood Circle died Saturday, Aug. 1, 1998, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Hunter was a retired accounting manager with Springs Industries, the author of a book, "Survival of a Sailor" and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict.

He was a member of First Baptist Church, a Sunday school teacher for 20 years, a founder and charter member of the Rock Hill Civitan Club and a member of the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans.

Surviving are his wife, Iris Geynell Hunter; his daughter, Jan Lingle of Florence; and three grandchildren.

A retired tool setter, Mr. Malm was a member of Zion United Methodist Church.

PAWLEY'S ISLAND - Mr. William Lawrence Spaniel, 63, of Retreat Beach Loop died Friday, July 31, 1998, at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Spaniel retired from Celanese after 37 years in production planning and customer service in Rock Hill, Cumberland, Md., Charlotte and New York City. He served in the Third Army at Ft. McPherson in Atlanta. He was a graduate of Geneva College in Beaver Falls, Pa., a past exalted ruler of the Rock Hill Elks Club and was active in community programs in Rock Hill and Cumberland, Md.

Surviving are his wife, Rosalie Swanson Spaniel; and two sons, William George Spaniel of Washington, D.C., and Paul Maurice Spaniel of Charlotte.

KERSHAW - Mr. Russell Parker Jones Sr., 62, of 4326 Catawba Road died Saturday, Aug. 1, 1998, at Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Sand Hill Baptist Church, with Revs. Patrick Minihane and Jule Young officiating. Burial will be at Sand Hill Baptist Church cemetery.

Mr. Jones was a Kershaw native. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, a member of the Sand Hill Baptist Church, and he worked for Bowater Carolina Corp. He attended the University of South Carolina at Lancaster and Clemson University.

Surviving are his wife, Annie Mae Faulkenberry Jones; two sons, Russell P. Jones Jr. of Kershaw and Richard T. Jones of Rock Hill; three brothers, Ralph B. Jones, Howard C. Jones and R. Lawrence Jones, all of Kershaw; four grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

RICHBURG - Mrs. Addie Adams Kee, 83, of 3231 Edgeland Drive died Sunday, Aug. 2, 1998, at Chester County Hospital.

Mrs. Kee was a Chester County native and was the widow of Gilbert L. "Buster" Kee. She was a retired deputy tax collector for Chester County and a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. She graduated from Oakley Hall High School.

Surviving are her daughter, Susan Helms Welch of Richburg; two sisters, Carrie Dover and Betty Bagley, both of Chester; three brothers, E.L. Adams of Edgemoor, and Tommy Bigham and Jim Bigham, both of Chester; and two grandsons.

ROCK HILL - Mr. William "Bill" Carroll Jr., 69, of 1372 Decatur Drive died Monday, Aug. 3, 1998, at home.

Mr. Carroll was a member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church, where he served as chairman of finance and trustee committees and the administrative council. He was a member of Methodist Men, Wesley Sunday school class and building committee.

A native of Pender County, N.C., he was an Army veteran and a manager of Waldensian Bakery for 45 years.

Mrs. Gibson was retired from Fort Mill schools. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Fort Mill. She was the widow of Furnie B. Gibson Jr.

Surviving are two sons, Freddie B. Gibson and Richard W. Gibson, both of Fort Mill; four brothers, John E. Buchanan of Fort Mill and Walter W. Buchanan Jr., James D. Buchanan and Larry D. Buchanan, all of Rock Hill; four sisters, Pat Short, Nancy Salamone and Francis McCallister, all of Fort Mill, and Sue Rockholt of Rock Hill; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at the fellowship hall of First Baptist Church and at other times at the home of her sister, Pat Short, 403 Nims St., Fort Mill.

Grace Harms

LANCASTER - Mrs. Grace Elora Powell Harms, 82, of 1160 Merribrook Lane died Sunday, Aug. 2, 1998, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. George Episcopal Church in Savannah, Ga., with the Rev. Gerald Clark officiating. Burial will be at Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah.

Mrs. Harms, a native of Savannah, was retired from Atlanta Light & Gas as a bookkeeper. She was a member of St. Johns Episcopal Church in Hampton, Va., and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was active in the altar guild at the church and was a former member of St. George Episcopal Church.

Surviving are two sons, Richard G. Harms of Lancaster and Fredrick G. Harms Jr. of Hampton, Va.; two daughters, Priscilla Cowart of Savannah and Cynthia Brooks of Shelby, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; and her great-grandchild.

LANCASTER - Mr. Jimmie Charles Joyner, 64, of 1006 Double Oak Road died Monday, Aug. 3, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at Glenwood Heights Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ronald D. Gregory officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

Mr. Joyner was a retired salesman. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Glenwood Heights Baptist Church, Hart Masonic Lodge No. 380, American Legion Stafford Graham Post and the Woodmen of the World.

Surviving are his wife, Peggy McNaughton Joyner; his sister Margaret Edwards of Lancaster; his grandchild; and his great-grandchild.

COLUMBIA - Mrs. Marie Vaughan McCraney, 82, died Sunday, Aug. 2, 1998.

Mrs. McCraney was the widow of Murdock L. McCraney. She was a member of the Earlewood Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Joy Sunday school class. She also was a member of the Half Century Club, Wha' Cha' Doin' Club at Earlewood Park and the ECCO Club.

Surviving are her daughter, Lois McCraney Danford of Chapin; her brother, Wylie L. Vaughan of Camden; her sister, Edith Melton of Camden; and four grandchildren.

The funeral, with Order of the Eastern Star Rites, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the home of Sallye McLean in Nashville, Mich. A cryptside service will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Nashville, Mich., with the Rev. James Hynes officiating.

Mrs. Montgomery was the widow of Gerald Rawlings Montgomery. She taught English, foreign languages and counseled in Nashville, Mich., schools until she retired in 1965. She was past Matron of the Eastern Star, founder of the Nashville National Honor Society, secretary of the Nashville Board of Education, president of the Nashville Women's Club, a member of Delta Kappa Gamma teachers sorority and a former member of Nashville Methodist Church. She was on the board of directors of the Maple Valley Memorial Scholarship Club.

She was a member of River Hills Community Church.

Surviving are her son, Gene Montgomery of Montgomery, Texas; her daughter, Kay Collier of Lake Wylie; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Friday at the home of Sallye McLean, 434 E. Main St., Nashville, Mich.

Mrs. Shelmire was a member of Fishing Creek Presbyterian Church for more than 20 years.

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Marjorie Stroud, 70, of 809 McDow Drive died Saturday, Aug. 1, 1998, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

Mrs. Stroud was a lifelong resident of Rock Hill and worked in information science and data processing.

Surviving are two sons, Dean Cornett and John A. Robinson, both of Rock Hill; her daughter, Robin Runyon of Rock Hill; her mother, Bessie H. Stroud of Rock Hill; her brother, Walter D. Stroud of Chester; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
