Samuel T. Kakaley Jr.
Samuel T. Kakaley Jr., 73, of 991 Center St., Sheppton, died Tuesday afternoon at Hazleton General Hospital, following a lengthy illness. The Rev. Thomas Beam will conduct services on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at the Stauffer-Heizenroth Funeral Home, Ringtown. Interment will take place in the Nuremberg Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service.

Dr. Pedro A. Salazar
Dr. Pedro A. Salazar, 71, who practiced urology in the Greater Hazleton area for 30 years, died Monday on Marco Island, Fla., where he had been a resident. A memorial service will be held Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Hazleton-St. Joseph Medical Center. Memorial donations may be made to the Marco Healthcare Center or the American Heart Association. The Hodges-Josberger Funeral Home, 577 Elkcam Circle, Marco Island, Fla., is in charge of the arrangements.

Dorothy P. McElhenny
Dorothy P. McElhenny, 76, of 422 W. Market St., Mahanoy City, died unexpectedly Monday evening shortly after admission to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, Pottsville. Born in Mahanoy City, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Helen (Lesko) Pelarcik, lived in the area most of her life and was a member of St. Canicus Church, Mahanoy City. Mrs. McElhenny was a 1942 graduate of Mahanoy City High School and attended business school in Washington, D.C. For a brief period, she lived in Allentown, where she worked at Western Electric. She was last employed as a nurse's aide at Rest Haven. Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her husband, Andrew C. McElhenny Sr.; a brother, Charles Pelarcik; and a sister, Margaret "Peggy" Rissel. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are her son, Andrew C. McElhenny Jr., Mahanoy City, two grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral, to be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the David D. Jarrett Funeral Home, Second and Pine streets, Mahanoy City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at St. Canicus Church, with the Rev. Domnick Mammarella as celebrant. Interment will follow in Sky View Memorial Park, Hometown. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Clarence Rhoades
Clarence Rhoades, 76, of 606 E. Mahanoy Ave., Mahanoy City, formerly a resident of Arlington Street, Bethlehem, died Monday evening at his home. He lived in Bethlehem for 48 years. Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church of Mahanoy City. The Rev. John Keiter, interim pastor, will officiate. Interment will take place in the German Protestant Cemetery, Mahanoy City. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the following: the endowment fund of Christ Lutheran Church, Main and Mahanoy streets, Mahanoy City; the Adult Outreach Center, 306 E. Isabel Yackenovich
Isabel Yackenovich, 83, died Sunday at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. Mrs. Yackenovich has grandchildren living in the Greater Hazleton area. Memorial services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 2336 S. Ninth St., Allentown. There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the church. Arrangements are under the direction of the J.S. Burkholder Funeral Home Inc., Allentown.

Florence G. Stefanic
Florence G. Stefanic, 78, formerly of Gilberton, died early Tuesday morning at Orwigsburg Manor, where she had been a patient since Feb. 21, 1998. The funeral will be held Friday at 10:45 a.m. from the Nice Funeral Home, 9-11 N. Lehigh Ave., Frackville, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, to be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Siluva R.C. Church. The Rev. Joseph A. DeSantis will be the celebrant. Interment will take place in the parish Cemetery, Frackville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 9 until 10:45 a.m. There will be no calling hours Thursday evening.

Helen M. Bednar, of 51 S. Cedar St., Hazleton, died Monday evening at Lehigh Valley Hospice of Allentown. The funeral will be held Friday at 11 a.m. from the John J. Pusti Funeral Home, 480 W. Broad St., Hazleton. Interment will take place in Mount Laurel Memorial Park, Hazleton. William G. Brown Jr.
William "Bill" Brown, 80, of Wharton, Texas, died Saturday after a lengthy illness. Born in Stuebenville, Ohio, he was a son of the late W. Garrett and Eula (Huff) Brown. He was raised in Nuremberg, and was a long-time resident of Clinton, Md. Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were his first wife, the former Vera Sencindiver, in 1983; his second wife, the former Ethel Lee Johse, in 2000; sisters, Marjorie Schweitzer, Dorothy Miller, and Betty Kishbach. Surviving are daughters, Mrs. Harvey (Linda) Stelzel, Wharton, Texas; Cathy Brown, Glen Allen, Va.; a sister, Mrs. John (Peg) Bartel, West Hazleton; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at the family's convenience.
