Betty Jane Morrow
Betty Jane Morrow, 38, of 136 W. Maxwell St., Mount Union, died at
9:35 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, at the University of Pittsburgh Medical
Center, Pittsburgh. She died following a long struggle with cancer.
Funeral services were held Feb. 4 at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home,
Mount Union. Officiating was Rev. Robert Davidson. Interment was in the
Mount Union Cemetery.
Born July 9, 1963, in Huntingdon, she was a daughter of Dorothy (Sipes)
Walters of Mount Union and the late Mervin J. Carson Sr.
She married Thomas M. Morrow on June 23, 1989. He survives at home
along with the following children: C. David Moore Jr. of Lewistown, Apryl
Dawn Moore of RD1 McVeytown and Emily Marie Morrow, Ariel Louise Morrow
and Tommee Rochelle Morrow, all at home.
She is also survived by the following brother and sisters: Mrs. Anthony
(Deborah) Forshey of Allenport, Mrs. Charles “Butch” (Tammy) Moore of Newton
Hamilton, Janet Smith of Newton Hamilton, Mervin J. Carson Jr. of Huntingdon,
Mrs. Steven (Mary) Haines of Licking Creek and Susan Walters of Cedar Crest.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Mount Union.
A graduate of Mount Union Area High School in 1982, she was a member
of the County Line Shuffleboard Team. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed
camping and spending time with her family.
She was last employed at Bleyer Industries, Mount Union, and prior
to that at Empire Kosher, in both the Mount Union and Mifflintown plants.
Alda Margaret Whitsel
Alda Margaret Whitsel, 81, a resident of Woodland Retirement Center,
Orbisonia, and formerly of HC 60, Orbisonia, died at 7 a.m. Sunday, Feb.
3, 2002, at Woodland.
Funeral services were held Feb. 5 at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home,
Orbisonia, with Pastor Rick Eminhizer officiating. Interment was made at
Haven Rest Memorial Park, RD Shirleysburg.
Born April 24, 1920, in Mifflin County, she was the daughter of the
late Emmanuel and Eva (Colledge) Boozel. She was married to Paul R. Whitsel
on Sept. 4, 1937, at McVeytown. Mr. Whitsel preceded her in death on Oct.
16, 1972.
She is survived by four sons and one daughter: Paul E. Whitsel of Stephenville,
Texas, Theodore J. Whitsel of RD Three Springs, Ronald L. Whitsel of HC
60 Orbisonia, Patricia M. Berrier of HC 60 Orbisonia and Gregory M. Whitsel
of HC 60 Orbisonia.
She is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
One grandson is deceased.
Mrs. Whitsel is survived by two brothers and three sisters: Theodore
Boozel and Evelyn Horn, both of Mount Union, Jenny Lauver of York, Russell
Boozel of Hershey and Dorothy Lok of Sacramento, Calif.
She was of the Methodist faith. Primarily a homemaker during her life,
she enjoyed baking, gardening and her pets.
