Elwood Rehrig
Elwood "Chick" Rehrig, 80, of 195 Maple Ave., Lehighton, died 
Thursday in his home. He was the husband of Joann (Jager) Rehrig. They 
observed their 59th wedding anniversary last December. He was a 
mathematics teacher and athletic director at Lehighton High School where 
he was employed for 42 years before retiring in 1981. He was the athletic 
director for 33 years and also coached baseball from 1940-47.
William A. Anderson Jr.
William Arthur Anderson Jr., 77, of 434 Forest Lane, Kissimmee, 
Fla., died Saturday, Sept. 28. He was the husband of Mae (Shoch) Anderson 
and the late Mae (Black) Anderson. He was retired from National Tubing, 
Fairless Hills. A veteran of World War II, he was a life member of 
American Legion Post 316, Summit Hill.

Mrs. Margaret M. Kulhavy
Mrs. Margaret M. Kulhavy, 87, of 349 W. Ridge St., Lansford, died 
Wednesday in Edgemont Peronal Care Home, Lansford. She was the widow 
of Stephen Kulhavy, who died in 1970. She worked for the former Lansford 
Sportswear before retiring.

Charles W. Yost
Charles W. Yost, 92, formerly of 403 E. Broad St., Tamaqua, died 
Thursday in Weatherwood, the Carbon County home for the aged in 
Weatherly. He was the husband of the late Mildred (Mock) Yost, who died in 
1965. Prior to retiring in 1969 he was employed by Atlas Powder Co., 
Reynolds.

Joseph J. Rudner Sr.
Joseph J. Rudner Sr., 78, of Lansdale, Montgomery County, formerly 
of Lansford, died Wednesday, Sept. 18, in Allegheny University Hospital's 
Center City Unit, Philadelphia. He was the husband of Eleanor (Geisinger) 
Rudner. They celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary in July. A long 
time plumbing and heating contractor, he worked for 46 years in many 
capacities for Lansdale Heating, which became Willow Grove Plumbing and 
Mid States, until he retired in 1990. Prior to that, he worked in many 
capacities for Hajoca, Lansdale.

Richard J. Everitt
Richard J. Everitt, 44, of 317 E. Main St., Pen Argyl, died Wednesday 
in Muhlenberg Hospital Center, Bethlehem. He worked for Lehigh Valley 
Janitorial Service, Bath, for the past three years.

Joseph Samec
Joseph Samec of 1 E. Cherry St., Tresckow, died early Thursday 
morning in Hazleton-St. Joseph Medical Center. He was the husband of 
Anna (Tokach) Samec. Prior to retirement he was employed in the 
maintenance department at Hazleton-St. Joseph Medical Center.

Michael Vengrin
Michael Vengrin, 75, of 2397 Dewey Ave., Northampton, died 
Thursday in Sacred Heart Hospital, Allentown. He was a truck driver for 
the former National Portland Cement Co., Lower Nazareth Township, for 29 
years before it ceased operations.

Mrs. Anna M. Morykan
Mrs. Anna M. Morykan, 68, of 607 Main St., Stockertown, died 
Saturday in Easton Hospital. She was the widow of Peter Morykan. She 
worked at Kraemer's Textile Co., Nazareth, before retiring. Prior to that 
she worked for the former St. Regis Co., Nazareth
Walter P. McHale
Walter P. McHale, 69, of Albrightsville died Friday in the Department 
of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre. He was the husband of 
Kathleen (Quinn) McHale. He was an attorney in Morristown, N.J. before 
retiring. A Marine Corps veteran, he was a member of the VFW Post in 
Seaside Park, N.J.

Mrs. Agnes Redling
Mrs. Agnes Redling, 86, of Hackensack, N.J. formerly of New York 
City, N.Y., died Sunday in Hackensack Medical Center. She was the widow of 
Joseph Redling.

Ricahrd J. Butcavage
Richard J. Butcavage, 53, of 10 Catawissa St., Tuscarora, died this 
morning in his home. He was the husband of Sandra L. (Jones) Butcavage.

Mrs. Ralph E. Kern
Mrs. Mary A. Kern of 337 Kiddie Lane, Walnutport, died Saturday in 
Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest. She was the wife of Ralph E. "Sonny" 
Kern. They would have observed their 30th wedding anniversary on Dec. 25. 
She was a process checker for Western Electric and AT&T, Allentown, for 
32 years before retiring in 1981.

Mrs. Maurice C. Kelly
Mrs. Lorraine M. Kelly, 79, of Country Meadows, Bethlehem Township, 
died Saturday in St. Luke's Hospital, Bethlehem. She was the wife of 
Maurice C. Kelly. They were married for 57 years.

Mrs. Hazel M. Baehler
Mrs. Hazel M. Baehler, 82, of Allentown, died Saturday in ManorCare 
Health Services, Salisbury Township. She was the widow of Ralph R. 
Baehler. She worked for H&K Vacuum Cleaner Service, Bethlehem, from 
1950 until retiring in 1970. Previously she was floorlady for the former 
Charis Corporation, Allentown, for 20 years.

Mrs. Margaret Barabas
Mrs. Margaret Barabas, 71, of Owl Creek, Tamaqua R.1, died Sunday in 
Miners Memorial Medical Center, Coaldale. She was the widow of John 
Barabas, who died in May 1996.

Mrs. Mamie Seyfried
Mrs. Mamie "Dolly" Seyfried, 71, of 1801 Newport Ave, Northampton, 
died Saturday in Liberty Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Allentown. She 
was the widow of Harvey R. Seyfried who died in 1993. She was a garment 
worker for the former Northampton Dress Factory.

Annette M. O'Neill
Annette M. O'Neill of 224 First St., Weatherly, died Saturday evening 
in Hazleton General Hospital. A licensed practical nurse, she worked at the 
former Carbon County Home, Laurytown, and at one time was employed at 
the former Allen Candy Factory, both of Weatherly.

Michael Craynock
Michael Craynock, 78, of 10 W. Center St., Mahanoy City, who was 
reported missing Sept. 23, was found dead Friday outside Mahanoy City. He 
was employed as an electric motor mechanic for Westinghouse 
Corporation, Detroit, Mich., until retiring. Craynock was a Navy veteran of 
World War II.

Mrs. Claire E. Fitzpatrick
Mrs. Claire E. Fitzpatrick, 102, of 29 Hickory Park, Cortland, N.Y., 
formerly of Allentown and Harrisburg, died Thursday in the Cortland Care 
Center. She was the widow of John J. Fitzpatrick.

Jospeh Peters.
Joseph Peters, 78, of Allentown died Friday in Lehigh Valley 
Hospital, Cedar Crest. He was a dishwasher for restaurants in the Lehigh 
Valley for many years having last worked for the American Association of 
Retired Persons Volunteers of American, Westminister Elder Care, 
Allentown, until retiring in 1994.

Jacob G. LeVan
Jacob G. LeVan, 97, of 45 Tudor City Place, New York, N.Y. formerly 
of Mauch Chunk and Lehighton, died Saturday in the Dewitt Nursing Home, 
Manhattan, N.Y. During World War II he served the government as an 
explorer in South America in search of rubber trees for the war effort. He 
was also a personnel director at Guarantee and Trust Bank, New York City.

Marion H. Pozarowski
Marion H. Pazarowski, 70, of Brodheadsville, died Saturday in St. 
Luke's Hospital, Bethlehem. She had assisted in providing home health care 
in Monroe and Northampton counties for the past 10 years. Previously she 
had been a telephone operator for Bell Telephone in New Jersey and a 
supervisor for Englehardt Industries, Newark, N.J., for eight years.

Mrs. Mary Jane Serfass
Mrs. Mary Jane Serfass, 78, formerly of 513 White st., 
Bowmanstown, died Saturday in Mahoning Valley Nursing and Convalescent 
Center, Mahoning Township. She was the widow of Curtis W. Serfass.

Michael J. Quigley
Michael J. Quigley, 88, of 687 Bee Hollow Drive, Lehighton, died 
Thursday in his home. He was the husband of the late Helen B. (Schott) 
Quigley. He was a miner at the former Lansford Colliery before retiring.

Franklin Andrews
Franklin Andrews, 56, of 82 Reber St., Lehighton, died early this 
morning in Palmerton Hospital. He was the husband of Deborah (Woehrle) 
Andrews. They were married 17 years of Sept. 22. He worked as a mason 
out of Local Office 1174, Allentown, the past 30 years.
Mrs. Susan T. Krajnak
Mrs. Susan T. Krajnak, 82, of 430 E. Bertsch St., Lansford, died 
Monday at 839 E. Ridge St., Lansford. She was the widow of George J. 
Krajnak. Prior to retiring she and her husband were owners of George and 
Sue's Restaurant, Lansford, from 1962 to 1970.

Stanley P. Gimbel
Stanley P. Gimbel, 73, of 201 E. Broad St., Tamaqua, died Monday in 
Miners Memorial Medical Center, Coaldale. He was the husband of Irene M. 
(Maksimic) Gimbel. Prior to retiring he was employed as a steward at the 
former Scrafford's Restaurant, Hometown. He was a veteran of the U.S. 
Navy.

Richard J. Butcavage
Richard J. Butcavage, 53, of 10 Catawissa St., Tuscarora, died 
Monday in his home. He was the husband of Sandra L. (Jones) Butcavage. He 
had been employed by the Burns Coal Co. as a shovel operator.

Mrs. Mary Frances Macenka
Mrs. Mary Frances Macenka, 81, formerly of Lansford and Lake Hauto, 
Nesquehoning R.1 died Monday in Mahoning Valley Nursing and Convalescent 
Center, Lehighton. She was the widow of John Macenka, who died Oct. 12, 
1991. She was employed by the former Kiddie Kloes Co., Lansford, before 
retiring in 1975.
Mrs. Bertha B. Cobley
Mrs. Bertha B. Cobley, 80, of 212 E. Fell St., Summit Hill, died Monday 
in her home. She was the widow of James Cobley. She worked for the 
former Lansford Shoe Co. and the former Kiddie Kloes Co., Lansford.

Mrs. Mary Swigar
Mrs. Mary Swigar, formerly of Nesquehoning, died Saturday morning 
in Gnaden Huetten Nursing Home, Lehighton. She was the widow of Stephen 
Swigar, who died in 1967.
Howard P. Graner
Howard P. Graner, 78, of 139 Normal Ave., Kutztown, died Sunday in 
The Lutheran Home at Topton. He was the husband of the late Louise A. 
(Andres) Graner. He was a salesman for various companies, having last 
worked for the Fairtoute Steel Co., Newark, N.J. Graner was an 
electrician's mate second class in the Navy during World War II.

William W. Horack
William W. Horack, 89, of Pine Road, Danielsville, formerly of 
Nazareth, died Sunday evening in Eastwood Convalescent Home, Wilson 
Borough, where he was transferred from the Easton Hospital on Sept. 30. 
He resided at Tatamy Road, Nazareth, for 36 1/2 years until 1990 when he 
moved in with Mr. and Mrs. Peter Moran in Danielsville. Horack was 
employed by the former Penn Dixie Cement Co., Plant No. 4, Nazareth for 
24 1/2 years before retiring in 1971.

Miss Jennie C. Kurtz
Miss Jennie C. Kurtz, 91, formerly of 222 E. Broad St., Tamaqua, died 
this morning in Rest Haven, Schuylkill Haven. Prior to retiring she had 
been employed by Bell Telephone as an operator.

James A. O'Donnell Jr.
James A. O'Donnell Jr., 43, of Battle Creek, Mich., died unexpectedly 
Monday morning in his home. Born in Battle Creek, he was a son of Mrs. 
Betty (Boone) O'Donnell of Summit Hill and the late James A. O'Donnell Sr.

Robert R. Herring
Robert R. Herring, 68, of 927 E. Pine St., Mahanoy City, died Monday 
morning in Pottsville Hospital. He was the husband of Cheryl A. (Cox) 
Herring. They were married for 25 years. Prior to retiring he was 
employed by Fiberite Corp., Delano. He was also employed at one time by 
Schaar Buick and Kline Brothers Auto Parts, both of Mahanoy City. He 
served during the post-World War II period with the Eighth Army Signal 
Corps in Japan.

Robert A. Grim
Robert A. Grim, 49, of 2107 Eaton Ave., Bethlehem, died Sunday in 
Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest. He was the husband of Gloria A. 
(Deutsch) Grim. They observed their 12th wedding anniversary last month. 
He was a truck driver for Hawk Flour Mills Inc., Allentown, for six years 
until 1994, and previously was a truck driver and loader for B&M 
Provisions, Allentown, for 19 years.

John K. Lauer Sr.
John K. Lauer Sr., 75, of 319 Fourth St., Weatherly, died Sunday 
evening in his home. He was the husband of Melva I. (Kelshaw) Lauer. They 
were married for 52 years. Before retiring he was a molder at the 
Weatherly Foundry. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and 
served as a technical sergeant and chief radio operator for the 711th 
Bomber Squadron and in the European, African and Middle Eastern 
campaigns.

James P. Ryan
James P. Ryan, 74, of Bethlehem Township, died Monday in his home. 
He was the husband of Martha (Knauert) Ryan. They would have observed 
their 47th wedding anniversary this month. He was employed by Durkee 
Foods, formerly in Bethlehem, for many years before retiring. Ryan was an 
Army veteran of World War II.
