Born in Paintertown, PA, she grew up in Irwin and was the valedictorian of the Norwin High School Class of 1934, and a graduate of Seton Hill College. A resident of Gibsonia since 1960, she was a founding member of the Friends of the Richland Public Library. As a teacher and avid lifelong reader, memorial contributions are suggested to the Northern Tier Regional Library, Richland Center, 4015 Dickey Road, Gibsonia, PA 15044. Dorothy M. (Austen) Collier, age 89, of Richland Twp., Gibsonia, on Tuesday October 23, 2001. Born on February 15, 1912 in Gibsonia she was the daughter of the late Clyde S. and Alta (Miller) Austen. Beloved wife of the late D. LeRoy Collier and dear sister of Donald C. Austen of Richland Twp. Gibsonia. Dearly loved by many relatives and friends. William V. Unitas, age 68, of Richland Twp., Gibsonia died on Thursday, October 25, 2001. In 1950 he and his wife, Martha, built and established Bakerstown Golf Course, renamed Pittsburgh North Golf Club in 1969. Sox was a member of the PGA, PGO (Pennsylvania Golf Course Owners), and the Etna Elks. Hazel E. (Aire) Thomas, age 94 of Perrytown Place, formerly of North Side, on Saturday, December 1, 2001at her residence. Born in Pittsburgh, she was the beloved wife of the late John M. Thomas. Anna Uffelmann Cyphers, age 101, of Daytona Beach, FL, formerly of Mars and Neville Island died on Monday, December 3, 2001. Born in McDonald, PA on October 29, 1900, she was the daughter of the late John J. & Josephine (Cruden) Johmen. Wife of the late Peter Uffelmann and Bernard Cyphers. Loving Mother of Grace Mihalyi of Valencia, Mary Rutkowski of Daytona, FL and Harold Uffelmann of Ocean Side, California. Also 14 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren. In addition to her husbands and parents she was preceded in death by one sister Josephine Krenn. Cecelia "Dot" Swartz of West View on Friday, December 7, 2001 in UPMC Passavant Hospital. Born in Pittsburgh on August, 23, 1919, she was loving daughter of the late Frank and Cecelia (Haffner) Reichel and the beloved wife of the late William E. Swartz. She is survived by her son, Ronald Swartz of Ross Twp.; a sister, Sarah Munsch of Florida and two grandchildren, William and Ronald Swartz Jr, both of Ross Township. Family will receive friends MONDAY 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the Schellhaas Funeral Home Inc., 388 Center Avenue, West View. Private services will held at the convenience of the family on Tuesday. Interment will follow in Holy Redeemer, North Side Catholic Cemetery, Ross Township. Dot retired last year with 30 years of service as a school guard for the Boro of West View. Ewald C. Menn Jr., age 94, of Millvale, on Monday December 10, 2001 in St. Francis Medical Center, Pittsburgh. Born in Aspinwall, PA on November 30, 1907, the loving son of the late Ewald C., Sr. and Mary (Bauer) Menn, and beloved husband of the late Alberta E. (Rothert) Menn. Mr. Menn is survived by one daughter, Erma Linda Lenz of Spring Hill; one sister, Wilma Wheeler of Indiana; and five grandchildren, Charles and Caryn Lenz, and Carol, Scott, and Chalene McGinty. Also survived by 4 Great Grandchildren. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Menn was the Manager of a Liquor Store. 

Mildred R. "Robbie" (Robison) Morrow, age 84 of Richland Twp., Gibsonia, died Wednesday, May 1, 2002 in Pittsburgh.
Born April 14, 1918 she was the daughter of the late Charles & Pearl (Prince) Robison.
Beloved wife for 59 years of John D. Morrow. Dear mother of Robert E. Morrow of Peidmont, South Carolina, Thomas J. Morrow of Anderson, South Carolina and Sally A. Doverspike of Adams Twp., Mars. Sister of Arel Robison of Ivydale, West Virginia, Charles Robison Jr of Strongsville, Ohio, Freda Smith of Anderson, South Carolina, and Charlotte Shafer of Kansas City, Missouri. Also 9 Grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, Rev. Robert Robison.

Robbie was a 2nd Lt. Veteran of the Army Nurse Corp. of WWII. A member of the Gospel Fellowship Church in Valencia, Norwood Harrington Chapter #356 Order of the Eastern Star (North Hills), and the Melwood Chapter A.A.R.P. # 2854. Louis C. Schulties, age 82 of Brookline, formerly of North Side, on Thursday, May 2, 2002 in St. Clair Hospital, Mt. Lebanon. He was born in Pittsburgh on January 19, 1920, the son of the late Louis C. and Agnes (Rogers) Schulties. In addition to his parents, Mr. Schulties was preceded in death by two sisters, Rosemary Moreman and Rita Schulties.
Mr. Schulties is the beloved husband of Rose M. (Stoll) Schulties of Brookline. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Prior to his retirement, Mr. Schulties was employed as a Steel Worker and He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. Louis was a member of the Lost Chord Association.
  
Louis "Bud" F. Erk, age 79 of Avalon, formerly of Reserve Township, on Thursday, May 2, 2002 in UPMC Passavant Hospital in McCandless Township. He was born in Pittsburgh on January 18, 1923, the son of the late Louis E. and Mary Erk.
Mr. Erk is the beloved husband of Helen D. (Martin) Erk of Avalon, loving father of Linda Bahl of Etna, Judy Krieger of Jefferson Boro, Marilyn Minnici of Beaver, PA, Cindy Maletic of Allison Park, Luann Mang of Bellevue, Terry Dailey of North Side, Louis "Buddy" Erk of Allison Park and Robert "Bobby" Erk of Finleyville, PA and brother of Marion Kaib and June Mares, both of Reserve Township. Also survived by 16 grandchildren.

Bernard J. Smith on Sunday May 5, 2002, age 73 of West View. 
Born in Louisville OH on June 24, 1928, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Kelly) Smith. In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his brothers Jack, Wesley, Richard, Charles, and a sister Eleanor. 
Beloved husband for 47 years of Pauline A. (Bevan) Smith. Dear father of Bernard J. Smith, Jr. of Avalon, Paul E. (Wendy) Smith of Coraopolis, grandfather of Tess Smith. Brother of Margaretta Johnston of Lawrenceville, Veronica Nickel of Brighton Heights.

Mr. Smith was a member of St. Athanasius Church since 1968, VFW Post 2754 West View, West View Fire Police, West View Borough Councilman for over 25 Years (retired December 31, 2001), Knights of Equity, Founded the Pittsburgh Catholic Football League, Former coach of several championship teams in the 50's and 60's. Retired Sales Manager for Pannier for 37 years. 
  
Edward Paul Slomka, age 64, of Merritt Island, FL formerly of Gibsonia died on Saturday, May 11, 2002, 
Born in Pittsburgh, PA on August 10, 1937, he was the son of the late Edward P. & Ann (Seamon) Slomka. 
Dear father of Capt. James E. and his wife, Kristen Pasquinelli Slomka of West Point, NY and Edward Paul Slomka of Merritt Island, FL. Brother of Sandy Diegelman of PA. Also one grandchild, Connor J. Slomka of West Point, NY.

Mr. Slomka was an airline pilot for 30 years with US AIR and past Vice President of Operations. He was currently working for Lockheade-Martin in pilot training and was a US Air Force Veteran. He was a graduate of Ambry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

Martin G. Lineman Sr., 44 of Richland Township, died Saturday, May 11, 2002.
He was born on April 19, 1958 in Pittsburgh, PA. and worked as a Truck Driver for Hampton Supply Company.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara L. (Mudge) Lineman; a son, Martin G. Lineman Jr. of Richland Township; his parents, George and Marylou (Barr) Lineman of Mt. Lebanon; father and mother in law, William and Alice (Waldschmidt) Mudge of North Side; two sisters, Patrice Field of Mt. Lebanon and Carol Burket of McMurray.
Visitation will be private.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial service at the Allegheny United Church of Christ, 501 Avery Street, North Side of Pittsburgh, on Tuesday May 14, 2002, at 7:00 pm. Reverend John Bucher will officiate the service at the church.

Beloved wife of the late Frank B. Lee who died on September 2, 2001. Robert "Fat Bob" Lee Richard Jr., age 60 of North Side, on Sunday, May 26, 2002 at Surburban General Hospital. 
Born on October 31, 1941 in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Robert and Elsie Marie (Watkins) Richard. 
Loving father to seven children. Also surviving are five brothers and sisters, eight grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. 
Robert worked as an Automobile Salesman.

Helen Q. Fusca, age 86, of West Lake, Ohio formerly of Bakerstown died on Monday, June 3, 2002. 
Born on January 30, 1915 in Bakerstown, PA, she was the daughter of the late Frank & Alma (Schott) Poff. 
Dear mother of Debra and her husband Bob Lyons of West Lake, Ohio. Also four grandchildren, John & Kenneth Fusca both of CA., and Melissa & Bethany Lyons both of Ohio. Also 1 great grandson James Fusca of CA 
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Fusca in 1980, two children, Dick and Joyce Fusca and two sisters, Elsie Fritz and Eula Poff.

Stella E. Leindecker, age 78 of West View, on Tuesday, June 4, 2002 in Windsor Place. She was born in Pittsburgh on June 4, 1924, the daughter of the late Carl and Clara (Kuehn) Finkbeiner. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Leindecker was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward J. Leindecker, Jr.; two sisters, Anna and Dorothy and one brother, Otto. 
Mrs. Leindecker is survived by one brother, Carl Finkbeiner, Jr. of Brookline. Also, many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Leindecker worked at William G. Johnston Printing Company for over 40 years as a Binderer. She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church as well as a member of Binding Local Union #24.

Elvera M. Spindler, age 96 of Ross Township, on Tuesday, June 4, 2002 in Suburban General Hospital in Bellevue. She was born in Pittsburgh on June 1, 1906, the daughter of the late Albert and Mathilda (Suck) Hildenbrand. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Spindler was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice. 
Mrs. Spindler is survived by two daughters, Lois Manipole of Guys Mills, PA and Myrna Hanna of Cranberry Township. Also, 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Elvera was a homemaker most of her life.
