| Nolan Stafford
Nolan Clayton “Shorty” Stafford, 90, died Monday, May 21, 2001, at Stillwater Medical Center. Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at Fairlawn Cemetery in Cushing. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Strode Funeral Home Stafford was born Aug. 21, 1910, in Bryson, Texas, to Tupper Lucaden and Etta Mary (Clayton) Stafford. He married Kittye (McIntosh) Stafford Aug. 20, 1932. She died in 1999. Stafford, affectionately known as Shorty, went to school at Coal Springs School near Roosevelt from grade one through seven. At that time, 1925, his parents moved to Stillwater where Shorty entered the eighth grade. He graduated from Stillwater High School in 1930. He attended Northeastern State College at Tahlequah where he met and eventually married Miss Kittye McIntosh. In 1936, the two were employed by the Bureau of Indian Affairs and were sent to the Cheyenne Indian Reservation at Gettysburg, S.D., to establish a day school for Sioux Indian children. This was quite an unusual experience as none of the children spoke English. Stafford told many interesting stories about their year spent there during the heavy snows of that frigid winter. The couple returned to Oklahoma in 1937, where Kittye was assigned to the Cheyenne-Arapahoe Indian School at Colony. Stafford purchased a farm and entered the cattle business in Pawnee, where they established their home and lived for many years. Stafford entered the U.S. Marine Corps in December 1942. His Marine Air Group was sent to a remote island in the Pacific Ocean to establish a U.S. Military Supply Base between Guam and Japan. He returned from there and was discharged from military duty Nov. 3, 1945. At that time, he returned to Pawnee and was associated with the cattle business and Livestock Auction Sale for sometime. He then became involved in the dump-trucking business and worked on road construction contracts until his retirement. He spent a few years living at the Cimarron Tower Apartments for Senior Citizens in Cushing. He then resided at the VA hospital in Claremore for three years. He is preceded by death his parents, T.L. and Etta Mary Clayton Stafford, Cushing; his wife; one brother Donald Stafford; and two sisters, Lorraine Clark and Mary Griffin.
Kaiser was born March 12, 1953, in Stillwater to Raymond Francis and Margaret Irene (Dolezal) Kaiser. He married Debbie Sue Tussey Jan. 27, 1978, in Stillwater. The couple divorced. Kaiser then married Debbie Ann Cheney. He attended school in Perry, Vinita, Enid and then returned to Perry schools where he graduated from Perry High School in 1972. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving his country proudly in Germany and in the United States. He was honorably discharged and stayed in the Army Reserves. Kaiser was then honorably discharged as a Drill Sergeant. While in Stillwater, he worked at MerCruiser Marine as a Quality Control Engineer. He then moved to Ponca City, Ardmore and then to Sherman, Texas. In 1999, Kaiser returned to Stillwater and began working for Asplundh Tree Trimming. While in Stillwater, he lived with his Aunt Dorothy Childress before moving to his permanent home in Stillwater. He loved fishing, camping, working out and lifting weights with his brothers and sons. Kaiser loved being with his family and spending time with his children. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Dorothy Ann Kaiser. Kaiser is survived by his sons, William Robert Kaiser II, Stillwater; Derrick Frank Kaiser, Stillwater; two daughters, Emily Sue Kaiser, Stillwater; Kelli Rae Kaiser, Ardmore; three grandchildren, Logan Frank Kaiser, Atlanta Renee Kaiser and Anabella Roze Kaiser, all of Stillwater; six brothers, Michael Ray Kaiser, Sand Springs; Joseph Dolezal Kaiser, Stillwater; Patrick Frank Kaiser, Stillwater; Gerald Richard Kaiser, Stillwater; James Anthony “Tony” Kaiser, Pawnee; John Christopher Kaiser, Stillwater; two sisters, Victoria Nellaine Gault, Ponca City; Mary Margaret McCulley, Ponca City; one aunt, Dorothy Childress; two uncles, Robert Frank Dolezal, Lakeway, Texas; and Richard Gene Dolezal, Longview, Texas. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chad Coy
He was born Aug. 24, 1956, in Prosser, Wash., to Ralph and Carolyn (Mueller) Coy. He graduated from Corn Bible Academy in 1974 and received a Bachelors of Science in statistics from Oklahoma State University. He married Charlotte Heyd in Mich. They later divorced. He married Marie Ellis April 19, 1996, in Stillwater. Coy was afflicted with primary lateral sclerosis, a slowly progressive disease, for many years. He loved to laugh and praise the Lord, and was loved by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his mother. Survivors include his father; his wife; two sons, Riley Jordan Coy and
Jamin Ross Coy of Stillwater; one daughter, Mikaela Rashae Coy of Stillwater;
two step-sons, Matthew Aaron Ellis of Bluffton, Ind. and Clayton Ellis
of Stillwater and two sisters, Vonnie and husband Rick Schmidt of Weatherford
and Vilene and husband Craig Horton of Fargo, Fla.

Services, with Pastor Ron Spradlin presiding, will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Strode Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Strode Funeral Home is directing the arrangements. She was born in Ingalls Jan. 27, 1912, to James William and Minnie Etta (Withers) Focht. She married Ernest F. Langley Dec. 21, 1928, in Perry. He died Oct. 26, 1996. She moved to Glencoe at a very early age. She graduated from Glencoe Schools. After she was married the couple lived near Glencoe and he worked for an oil field company as a driller. She enjoyed quilting, working in her garden and taking care of her home. She loved her children and grandchildren. She was a Baptist and a homemaker. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by three brothers, four sisters and one grandchild. Survivors include one son, James Langley and his wife Clara of Ponca City; three daughters, Thelma Madison of Ingalls, Elvina Cox of Jones and Velta Benson of Broken Arrow; one sister, Pearl Creager and her husband Lawrence of Glencoe; a brother-in-law, Vernon Langley and his wife Carol; one sister-in-law, Mary Focht; 16 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren. Her grandsons will be pallbearers.
Mildred Giger
Giger was born Sept. 1, 1919, in Morrison to Albert Pierce Clark and Sara Myrtle (Jones) Clark. She graduated from high school in Morrison in 1937 and married O.P. “Joby” Giger March 3, 1938, in Shawnee. She worked for Woolworth’s in Stillwater and later for Southwestern Bell there. She transferred to Pampa, Texas, and finally to Amarillo, Texas, where she retired in 1979. The couple moved to Arkansas City in 1980 to be near family. She was a member of the Mt. Hope United Methodist Church and Southwestern Bell Pioneers. She is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Joby, in 1989; a son, Ronald J. Giger in 1991; two sisters, Marie Van Deventer and Betty Evers; three brothers, Albert B. Clark, Chester Bazzell and Albert P. Clark, Jr.; a granddaughter, Jennifer Willis; and a great granddaughter, Haley Giger. Giger is survived by her daughter, Katherine Merylene Wentworth and husband Ray, Geuda Springs, Kan.; a daughter-in-law, Nadine Giger, Columbus, Ga.; a sister, Elnora Sappington, Morrison; a brother, Edgar Jack Clark, Ponca City; four grandchildren, Kathy York, Gregory Giger, Rhonda Wentworth and Kenny Wentworth and eight great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial has been established with Mt. Hope United Methodist Church
or the National Parkinson Foundation. Contributions may be made through
the funeral home.
Mike Seaberry Mike Seaberry, 46, died Friday, May 25, 2001, at Stillwater Medical
Center.
Jesse E. Cates
Davis Funeral Home is directing the arrangements. He was born on Nov. 11, 1899 in Ellisnore, Mo., to William and Orpha Cates. He received his education in that area. He married his childhood sweetheart, Lizzie Carter on Dec. 27, 1919, in Ellisnore. She died on March 29, 1991. The first years of their married lives were spent in the Ellisnore area where Jesse worked in timber. They moved to Cushing in 1928 where he was employed by the Shaffer Oil Co. which later became Deep Rock and subsequently Kerr McGee. He retired in 1964. The couple lived on a farm northwest of Cushing until 1987 when they moved to their present address. He was a longtime member of the Council Valley Baptist Church and he loved to express his religious beliefs and could quote many scriptures. He enjoyed talking about his family and politics. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his parents, one infant daughter Audrey Iileen; one son Vivan Cates; two sons-in-law, Herb Skinner and Clyde Harrison; two grandchildren at birth; and one grandson, Jeff Pershing. Survivors include eight daughters, Irene Pack and her husband, George,
Opal Skinner Gayhart and her husband Allen, Juanita Kirkpatrick and her
husband Dick and Kathleen Harrison, all of Cushing, Lorene Franklin and
her husband Leonard of Mannford, Sylvia Meyerdirk and her husband Harold
of Bartlesville, Ernestine Pershing and her husband Don of Stillwater,
and Rosalie Mills and her husband Carl of Pittsboro, N.C.; one sister Caroline
Joiner of Elizabethtown, Ky.; one daughter-in-law, Thelma Cates of Chaflin,
Ky.; 26 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great-grandchildren
and many other relatives and friends including four very devoted care givers:
Charles Rich, Pat Clemons, Rachel Bell and Rodney Bryant.
Ruebin Turner
Strode Funeral Home is directing the arrangements. He was born Dec. 11, 1916, in Coalgate to Ruebin Roe and Alice Gertrude (Clayburn) Turner. He married Gladys Elizabeth Simmons in Stillwater in June 1936. The marriage ended in divorce. He attended school in Maud and served two terms in the Civil Conservation Corps in Arizona and Colorado. He moved to Stillwater in 1935 and worked as a retail feed salesman for Shannon Feeds and the Stillwater Hatchery. He also worked for the City of Stillwater before he retired in 1979. He then worked for the Stillwater NewsPress spotting papers for carriers. He retired in 1988. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing and being in the outdoors. He loved his family and grandchildren. He was a member of the NRA and the Oklahoma Coon Hunters. He was predeceased by his parents; one son, David B. Turner; three brothers, Arthur Turner, Luther Turner and Gene Turner; and two sisters, Lucy Miller and Lorrene Eades. Survivors include one son, Dan Turner and his wife Freda of Perkins; six grandchildren, Michael Turner and his wife Lisa of Tahlequah, Jeffery Turner and his wife Wendy, of Austin, Texas, Bodie Turner and his wife Angie of Mustang, Pamela Turner of Perry, Angie Turner of Wilburton, and Teresa Crawford and her husband Michael of Perkins; two sisters, Ruby Love of Fairfield, Texas and Gertrude Turner of Calif.; and three close friends Anita Stewart, Dale Graham and D.W. Wyatt. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons and nephews, Michael Turner, Jeffery Turner, Bodie Turner, Wayne Loven, Ricky George, David George and Ned Simmons. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Strode Funeral Home. Jardot was born Feb. 27, 1923, in Trousdale to A.Z. and Sara Elizabeth (Crowder) Vessel. She married Robert S. Williams in 1943; he died in 1968. She then married Ira Clapp, who died in 1984. She attended Star Valley Schools. She married Williams and the couple moved to California. They returned to Oklahoma where they settled in Stillwater in 1946. Around 1958, Jardot went to work for Stillwater Medical Center. She remained in Stillwater until her husband’s death in 1968. She later married Clapp and the couple lived in Perkins until his death in 1984. On Dec. 5, 1987, she married Eugene Jardot and in 1988 she retired from Stillwater Medical Center after 30 years of faithful service. The couple continued to work in real estate. Jardot enjoyed having family gatherings, cooking for her family and crocheting. She will be missed by all who loved her. Jardot attended Southside Baptist Church and Fellowship Free-Will Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, three sisters and two husbands. Jardot is survived by her husband, Eugene K. Jardot, of the home; seven children by marriage, Gene Jardot and wife Eola, Sedalia, Mo.; Vivian Atwood and husband Merlin, Edmond; Larry Jardot and wife Kelly, Troy, Texas; Raymond Jardot, Enid; Esther Jardot-Niimi and husband Allen, Stillwater; Tommy L. Jardot, Perkins; Tammy Jean Cummings and husband Randy, Bartlesville; 15 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; nieces, Jeanetta Pressley and husband C.D., Perkins; Janice Parnell and husband Bill, San Antonio, Texas; nephews, Bill Lile and wife Patsy, Perkins; and Roy Lile and wife Jean, Leone, Kan. She was born Sept. 10, 1909, in Arapaho to Joe and Maggie Ann (Jarvis) Edmonds. She was educated through high school in Arapaho, then attended Oklahoma A&M 1928-1929. She married Harry H. Baughman May 5, 1929, in Ponca City. She lived in Ponca City until 1974 and then resided in Stillwater. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Dec. 1, 1966; one sister; one son, Vern Baughman and one daughter, Kay Baughman. Survivors include two sons, Donald Baughman of Grand Junction, Colo. and Kenneth Baughman of Charter Oak, Iowa; one daughter, Carol Duckwall of Stillwater; 19 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Edith Gebhart
Rev. Carol Fincher will conduct funeral services at 2 p.m. Friday at Sunnyside Cemetery, formerly Payson or Pickett Cemetery. The cemetery is located three miles north and a mile and half miles east of Meeker. Park Brothers Funeral Home will be in charge of the services. Viewing will be available at their Meeker facility. Gebhart was born March 22, 1920, in Meeker to Leslie and Minnie Newman. She graduated from Chandler High School and Oklahoma State University. She married Jewell O. Gebhart in September of 1941. The couple spent most of their life in Kansas, where Jewell worked for the Extension Service. They retired in 1972 and moved back to Meeker to work and live on the family farm. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years and her sister, Mary Patterson. Gebhart is survived by her daughter, Mary Ellen Cantrell; her sons,
Glen E. Gebhart and wife Cheryl; John J. Gebhart and wife Cindy; and four
grandsons, Brian Gebhart, Mark Gebhart, David Gebhart and Marcus Cantrell.

A memorial services is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Union Cemetery in Billings. Tipps was born Feb. 25, 1918, in Joiner City to Daniel and Bertha Tipps. He graduated from Wilson High School in 1936 and attended Oklahoma City University on a football scholarship. While in Oklahoma City, he met and married Dorothy Naomi Taggart. He left the university to work in the oil field in Illinois. He was drafted into the Army during World War II and served as a gunnery instructor in Nevada, California, Pennsylvania and Wyoming. After being discharged from the service, he spent a short time selling Fuller Brushers, then moved to Billings where he began farming in 1950. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the First Christian Church in Billings. He loved farming and gardening and was an avid Oklahoma University football and basketball fan. His family was the joy on his life. He devoted the last five years of his life to the care of his wife as she has struggled through ill health. He is preceded in death by his parents. Tipps is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Dorothy of the home;
his sons, Dean and wife Ruth, Perry; Larry and wife Judy, Drummond; Alan
and wife Sherry, Stillwater; Steven, Billings; daughter, Starla Draper

Willa Grooms
She was born Nov. 24, 1921, in Byers, Texas, to George Washington and Maude (Griffin) Hood. She moved to Oklahoma at an early age and graduated from Guthrie High School. She married Verlon Leroy Grooms Jan. 1, 1941, in Chandler. They founded Groom’s Furniture Company in Stillwater in 1946. An avid golfer, she was a member of the Stillwater Women’s Golf Association with two holes-in-one and numerous tournament wins to her credit. She enjoyed performing with the Town and Gown Theater for many years. “Miss Willa” loved to travel and recently made a trip to the Holy Land. She will always be remembered by her family and friends for her strong faith example and counsel. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband. Survivors include: three sons, Ronald Grooms and wife Barbara of Denver, Colo., Robert Grooms and wife Janet of Tulsa and Van Grooms and wife Becky of Stillwater; two daughters, Lana Chadwick and husband Lynn of Tulsa and Terri Rose of Dallas, Texas; four sisters, Letha Latham of Cotopaxi, Colo., Jewell Hefner, Faye Wells and Louise Collier, all of Wichita, Kan., and 12 grandchildren. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Wesley Rose, Dallas Rose, Chris Chadwick,
Brett Grooms, Todd Grooms, Austin Chadwick and Kyle Grooms.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Strode Funeral Home. Watson was born Jan. 20, 1935, in Morehouse, Mo., to Brady Thomas and Abby Viola (Tucker) Watson. He married Wanda Ray Dunning Oct. 13, 1959, in Broseley, Mo. He attended schools in Poplar Bluff, Mo., including the Poplar Bluff High School. He worked with the Shop and Salvage, Northeastern Auto Parts and the Vista Chemical Company. Watson was a member of the Midwest Baptist Temple. He served six to eight years in the National Guard as a sergeant in the Medical Corp. Watson is preceded in death by his parents and two daughters. He is survived by his wife, Wanda Ray Watson; his son, Brady L. Watson, Bethel Acres; daughter, Peggy Jean Walker; step-son, James Miller, Carney; step-daughter, Karen Bobbett and husband Greg, Midwest City; sister, Juanita Ann Nely, Carney; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was a 1936 graduate of Collinsville and lived in Stillwater for 30 years before she moved to Broken Arrow in the 1980s. She belonged to the Methodist Church and was a retired billing clerk for Central Rural Electric Co-op in Stillwater. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Hendrix; a sister, Mable A Schenck; and a son, Michael Hendrix. She is survived by two sons, John Hendrix of Dangerfield, Texas and
Hal Hendrix of Laguna Hills, Calif.; two daughters, Peggy Schnell of Tulsa
and Susan Brown of Scott City, Kan.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the All Souls Episcopal Church, 338 E. Lyman Avenue, Winter Park, Fla. Bishop was born Oct. 10, 1935, in Oklahoma City. He graduated with the Stillwater High School Class of 1955. In 1958, he graduated from Oklahoma State University and entered the Navy Aviation Officers’ program. He retired as a captain from the Navy in 1984. He then worked in the defense professional service industry and presently was working for the Institute for Simulation and Training Military Affairs at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. Bishop was a Sigma Chi member, a sports fan and true e-mail friend to many. He is survived by his wife, Angela LaDrew Bishop, of the home; his son, Robin Ward Bishop and his wife Pam of Orlando, Fla.; two grandsons, Carter Scott Bishop and Alexander Kent Bishop, Orlando, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews, too numerous to mention, from the Stillwater area.
