Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Havenbrook Chapel
for Elmo "Doc" King, 76, of Norman. The Rev. Mike Bumgarner will officiate.
Mr. King died Oct. 6  in Norman.
He was born April 30, 1923, to Jim C. and Willie Ward King. He attended
school in Campbell, Texas, and was a veteran of World War II, serving with
the U.S. Army in England.
He married Jo Dell Farabee Aug. 31, 1973, in Gordonville, Texas. They
moved to Norman in 1978 from Oklahoma City.
Mr. King became a USDA meat inspector for Armour and Wilson Meat Co.,
in Oklahoma City. When he retired in 1984, he received an award for outstanding
He was a member of Westwood Masonic Lodge 512, Scottish Rite, India
Temple and Nomad Patrol. He was a member of Exchange Avenue Baptist Church.
Mr. King was also a member of the Ticket Taker Exchange, working during
the state fair in Oklahoma City for many years. He was an avid gardener
and always took pride in his yard and garden.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, three brothers
and three sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Dell, of the home; two daughters, Jo
Ann Townsend and Marie Davenport, both of Bethany; stepdaughters Varonia
Farabee Benton of Littleton, Colo., and Lynn Farabee Walsh of Alexandria,
Va.; sisters Evelyn Fox of Sadler, Texas, and Anna Reece of Oklahoma City;
brothers Luther King and Kimbell King, both of Oklahoma City; eight grandchildren
and five great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.

James Woodrow "Woody" Cunningham, 84, of Norman died here Thursday,
Jan. 27 .
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 31, in the Chapel
at Davenport Cemetery at Davenport with the Rev. Kenneth Adams officiating.
Burial will follow under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home.
Born Sept. 24, 1915, at Locust Grove, Cunningham was the son of Irvin
Ernest and Martha Viola Roberts Cunningham. He came to Norman in 1989 from
Cunningham was a retired diesel mechanic working in construction. He
married Alice Ornie Wade on Sept. 10, 1989, in Ada. He attended church
at the Lakeside Church of God in Norman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his former wife, Alice Viola
Cunningham; two sons, infant James Woodrow Cunningham Jr. and Randy Lee
Cunningham; two daughters, Delores Hall and Eileen McCauley; a brother,
Clarence D. Cunningham, and a brother-in-law, Vick Forister.
Survivors include his wife, Alice, of the home; a son, Vernon Lowayne
Cunningham and his wife, Sharon, of Edmond; five daughters, Mary Hayes
and her husband, Tom, of Ada; Shirley Anderson of Shawnee, Cathy Forister,
Jequita Raffety, and Jeannie Barrett and her husband, Rick, all of Norman;
four sisters, Faye Ella Fryer and her husband, Charles, Flossie Irene Wisely
and her husband, Jess, Geraldine Campbell, and Mary Jane Speck and her
husband, Willard; two brothers, Irvin K. Cunningham and Herman Joe Cunningham
and his wife, Patty; 21 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
Bearers will be Jake Barrett, Chris Dunn, Jon Hayes, Dean Cunningham,
Mark Cunningham, Michael Cunningham and Andy Wayne Cunningham.
Honorary bearers will be Calvin Dunaway, Allison Richards, Lori Dunn-Brown,
Kenny McCauley, James Cunningham, Todd Cunningham, Joel Swanson and Joe

Church for Cora Lee Minyard, 86, of Norman. The Rev. Bill Blair will officiate.

Glenn Edward Zabel, 81, died at the Veteran’s Hospital in Oklahoma
City Thursday, Nov. 28. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity
Lutheran Church with the Rev. David Nehrenz officiating. Arrangements are
under the direction of Mayes Funeral Directors. There will also be a service
at the Huber Funeral Home Chapel in Excelsior, Minn., at 10 a.m. Friday.
Bural will follow at the Woodside Cemetery in Shorewood, Minn.
Mr. Zabel was born Nov. 21, 1921, to August Carl and Gertrude (Hudlow)
Zabel. He served in the United States Marine Corp during World War II.
He married Myrle Marie Fink in August of 1953. They moved to Norman in
1972. He was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church and of the VFW
post in Excelsior, Minn.
Mr. Zabel loved bird hunting, fishing and golf.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1986.
He is survived by a daughter, Linda Duede of Shakopee, Minn.; sons,
Steve Zabel and wife, Susan, of Edmond, Larry Zabel and wife, Nancy, of
Moore, Bruce Zabel of St. Cloud, Minn., and Robert Zabel of Oklahoma City;
grandchildren Jessica Zabel, Matt Zabel, Mason Zabel, Susan Zabel, Brandon
Zabel, Kristen Zabel, Jennifer Zabel, Alex Zabel, Chris Duede and Sarah
Duede; a great-granddaughter, Sophia Marie; a sister, Betty Jensen of Rogers,
Ark; a brother-in-law, Herb Gager of Chaska, Minn., and a number of nieces
The family has suggested the Trinity Lutheran Building Fund in Norman
as appropriate for memorial contributions.

Mildred G. Herrin, 79, of Yukon, died Friday, Oct. 18, at her home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Yoakum-Damet Memory Chapel in Purcell
with the Rev. Bob Willetts officiating. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery.

Mrs. Herrin was born Nov. 17, 1922, in Lexington, to Robert and Elsie
(Olson) York. she was raised in Lexington and graduated from Lexington
High School in 1939. She married William G. Herrin Jr., Feb. 15, 1941,
at Trinity United Methodist Church in Purcell. She was a homemaker until
she became a seamstress with Penn Industries making vinyl tops for automobiles,
hearses and limousines.
Mrs. Herrin was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Leonard;
sister, Elouise; and husband, William G. Herrin.
Mrs. Herrin is survived by her daughters, Patricia Riney, of Harve-De
Grace, Md., Sharon Kay Goode, of Atlanta, and Deborah Wyman, of Yukon;
four grandchildren; brother, Edgar York, of Garland, Texas; and sister,
Dorothy Alley, of Oklahoma City.
Bearers will be Bob Brown, Bill Combs, Michael Penn, Kenneth Rauch,
Chuck Witte and Terry Wyman.
Honorary bearers will be Gary and Rick Combs, Floyd Johnson, Bob Richardson,
Tim Witte and Edgar York.
Durrel K. Knowles
Durrel K. Knowles, 89, died Friday, Oct. 18, in Oklahoma City. Services
will be at 11 a.m. today at First Christian Church in Chickasha. Burial
will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery in Chickasha. Sevier Funeral Home in Chickasha
is handling arrangements.
Mr. Knowles was born March 8, 1923, in Ada, to Oscar and Marguerite
(Pearcy) Knowles. He moved to Chickasha as a small child and graduated
from Chickasha High School in 1940. He received a bachelors degree from
the University of Oklahoma and a masters degree from Oklahoma State University.
He taught vocational auto mechanics in Tulsa, Chickasha and Wichita, Kan.,
and aeromechanics at Canadian Valley Vo-Tech in El Reno. He was a certified
flight instructor. He married Clorinda Beth Huffines in 1947. Clorinda
died in 1977. He later married Tommie Pesterfield. Tommie died in 2001.
He was a C-47 pilot in the Army Air Forces during WWII and served in France
and Belgium. He was a member of First Christian Church.
Mr. Knowles was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Marguerite
Knowles, and brothers, Gaylord and Joe Knowles.
Mr. Knowles is survived by his daughter, Sarah Smith and husband, Larry,
of Chickasha; sons, Terry Knowles, of Norman, Tim Knowles and wife, Geri,
of Chickasha, and George Knowles; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
