POLK -- Lawrence R. Reed, 84, 1115 County Road 175, Polk, a former resident of Austin Retirement Center, Wooster, died Saturday evening, Aug. 8, at Wooster Community Hospital, after a long illness. Services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Red Haw United Methodist Church, Polk, with the Rev. Robert Holmes officiating. Burial will be at Red Haw Cemetery. BEACH CITY -- Charles C. Gonter, 79, of Beach City, died Saturday, Aug. 8, at Massillon Community Hospital, after an extended illness. Burial will be at South Lawn Cemetery in Beach City, where military services will be held. WEST SALEM -- Mary Cantleberry Jacobs, 82, of West Salem, died Friday, Aug. 7, at Life Care of Medina, where she had been a resident for the past two years. Graveside services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Spencer Cemetery, with the Rev. Paul Thom officiating. There will be no calling hours. Parker & Son Funeral Home in Lodi, is handling arrangements. Surviving are her husband, Chester Jacobs; daughters, Mrs. Leo (Dorothy) Wright of Nashville, Tenn., Mrs. Mike (Elsie) Major of Naples, Fla., and Mrs. Vencil (Delores) Estep of Frametown, W.Va.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

LAKEVILLE -- Andrea "Annie" Hutchison, 15, 13780 County Road 100, died Sunday, Aug. 9, 1998, at Children's Hospital Medical Center of Akron. WOOSTER -- Myron W. Stryffeler, 76, 1561 N. Reedsburg Road, P.O. Box 632, passed away at his home on Saturday, Aug. 8, following a battle with leukemia. Services will be Wednesday, Aug. 12, at 1 p.m. at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster. Burial will be at New Pittsburg Cemetery following the service. AUBURN, Wash. -- Emma Irene Vestal, 67, of Auburn, Wash., formerly of Wadsworth, died Friday, July 31, in Auburn. She was the sister of Mrs. Shelby (Shirley) Painter of Wooster and Mrs. Kenneth (Bertha) Domer of Shreve. A celebration of life was held Saturday, Aug. 8 at 1 p.m. at the home of her son in Maple Valley, Wash. Her body has been cremated. Surviving in addition to her sisters are children, Jack Vestal and Linda Vestal Small, both of of Kent, Wash., Steve Vestal of Florida, Earnest and Bobby Vestal, both of Maple Valley, Wash.; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers, William Owens of Auburn, Wash., and Charles Owens of Maple Valley, Wash.; and another sister, Mrs. Richard (Faye) Vaughn of North Ridgeville.

MILLERSBURG -- George Blair, 84, of Millersburg, died Friday morning, Aug. 7, at Altercare of Millersburg, after an extended illness. Catherine Miller
OLYMPIA, Wash. -- Catherine Miller, 94, of Olympia, Wash., formerly of the Wooster area, died Sunday, July 26. There are no services planned. Burial of the cremains were in Olympia, Wash. Surviving are a niece, Rebecca Mosher of Lakeville; nephews, Arthur Martin of Wooster and John Martin of Jeromesville, and several other nieces and nephews in Indiana and Washington.

WOOSTER -- James H. Reed, 61, 574-A Williamsburg Court, died Monday morning, Aug. 10, at Smithville-Western Care Center. NEW PHILADELPHIA -- Loretta M. Herron, 69, of New Philadelphia, died Wednesday, Aug. 12, at Arbors in Canton, after a long illness. She was the sister of Mrs. Dewey (Dora) Lacy of Orrville. A Funeral Mass will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, with the Rev. Robert T. Manning officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in New Philadelphia. BARRINGTON, R.I. -- William "Bill" McClarran, 86, 15 Evergreen St., Barrington, R.I., died Thursday, July 23, at Orchard View Manor Nursing Home in East Providence, R.I., after a long illness. A private service and burial were held in Riverside, R.I. Smith-Mason Funeral Home handled arrangements. Surviving are his wife, Lee McClarran; children, Sandra Hedman of Dorset, Vt., Cheryl Wardrop of Glen Rock, N.J., and Gary McClarran of Strafford Springs, Conn.; five grandchildren; and a brother, Charles McClarran of West Bend, Wis.

ORRVILLE -- Charles R. Bailey, 43, found eternal peace in the arms of God on Tuesday, Aug. 11, 1998. He will be forever loved by his wife, Betty (Fulk) Bailey, children, Vanessa (Bill) Slate, Rachel Bailey and their mother, Rebecca (Walek) Bailey; a daughter, Kylee Bailey; a grandson, Draven Slate; a stepson, Justin Yoder; his parents, Donald and June Bailey; sisters, Catherine Bailey, Tammy (Joseph) Kish and Halle Hallal; and a brother, Donald (Kathy) Corbin. He is loved by his family as a grandson, nephew, uncle, cousin and as a friend.
