ORRVILLE -- Louella Thut, 88, of Chippewa Road, north of Orrville, died Sunday, Nov. 29, at Dunlap Memorial Hospital. She had suffered a stroke on Friday. Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Oak Grove Mennonite Church on Smucker Road, east of Smithville. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Custer Funeral Home, Wooster, or one hour prior to the services at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity in Wayne County; The Wilderness Center near Wilmot; or Semilla Latin American Anabaptist Seminary in Guatemala City, Guatemala. Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Gwen and Mahlon Schmucker of Wooster and Kay and Ray Nussbaum of Salem, Ore.; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Shirley Thut of Orrville and Tim and Margaret Thut of Goshen, Ind.; a foster son and his wife, Vic and Bev Plessinger of Smithville; 11 grandchildren; three foster grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and five foster great-grandchildren. 

Robert Ramseyer
WALNUT CREEK -- Robert Ramseyer, of Walnut Hills Nursing Home in Walnut Creek, formerly of Millersburg, died Sunday, Nov. 29, 1998, at the age of 90. Services will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, with the Rev. Eldon Trubee officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Millersburg. Friends may call Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Holmes County Habitat for Humanity; or Holmes County Hospice. They are the parents of Robert and Walter, both of Millersburg, Richard of Utica, and Alice of Chicago. They have 12 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. There are two brothers remaining in Switzerland, along with numerous nieces and nephews. A sister-in-law, Emma Ramseier resides in Walnut Creek.

LAKELAND, Fla. -- Elsie May Tipton, 78, of Lakeland, Fla., and Glenmont, died Friday afternoon, Nov. 27, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, Lakeland, Fla., after a short illness. Services will be Saturday at noon at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, with the Revs. Ed Stivers and Joanna Lance officiating. Burial will be at Sunnyside Cemetery, Glenmont. Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society; or to a charity of the donor's choice. LOUDONVILLE -- Glenn Floyd Truex, 88, died Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998, at Colonial Manor Care Center in Loudonville. He was formerly of Beallsville. BARBERTON -- Martha A. "Marge" DeArmitt, 77, of Barberton, died Saturday, Nov. 28, at Barberton Citizens Hospital, after a short illness. Calling hours will be 2-3:30 p.m. with funeral services following on Tuesday, Dec. 1 at Campfield-Hickman-Collier Funeral Home Inc., 566 W. Park Ave., Barberton. The Rev. Nathan Ward of the Church of the Nazarene in Wooster will conduct the services at 3:30 p.m. Cremation will follow with ashes taken to Petersburg, Pa. Surviving are children, Lester William (Carol) DeArmitt of Copperas Cove, Texas, Barbara Huffman of Barberton, Bonnie Bing of Wooster and Donald DeArmitt of Marion; grandchildren, Bernd and Brandon DeArmitt, both of Copperas Cove, Texas, Dianne Phillips of Wooster, Dale Huffman of Barberton, Deborah Kinney of Panama City, Fla., and Heather and Holly DeArmitt, both of Rittman; great-grandchildren, Lauren Walker and Scott and Allen Bostick, all of Wooster; a brother, George Scott of Tucson, Ariz.; and sisters, Beverly Bartlebaugh of State College, Pa., and Eva Friday of Wooster.

Crist Miller
MILLERSBURG -- Crist B. Miller, 4-year-old son of Ben and Anna (Miller) Miller, 2415 Township Road 112, died this morning, Nov. 30, at his home from natural causes. Services will be Wednesday at 9 a.m. at the residence, with Bishop Jerry M. Mast officiating. Burial will be at West Church Cemetery, Mechanic Township, Holmes County. WOOSTER -- Sandra Jean Shultz, 1-year-old daughter of Leon "Lewis" and Rhonda L. (Fleming) Shultz II, 341 Spring St., died Friday, Nov. 27, 1998, at Wooster Community Hospital. Services will be Thursday, Dec. 3, 1998, at 2 p.m. at McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster, with the Rev. Leroy Adams officiating. Burial will be at Wooster Cemetery. BUCYRUS -- George W. Awbrey, 77, 508 Woodlawn Ave., died Saturday evening, Nov. 28, at Fairhaven Home, Upper Sandusky. He was the father of Ruth Ann Thompson of Wooster. Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Munz-Pirnstill Funeral Home, 215 N. Walnut, Bucyrus, with the Rev. Carl Angel officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Galion. Surviving in addition to his daughter are seven other children, Robert Awbrey of Galion, Roger Awbrey of Tazwell, Va., John Awbrey, Michelle Zeigler, George W. Awbrey III and Dean Awbrey, all of Bucyrus and Richard Awbrey of Nevada; 18 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; a stepbrother, Paul Awbrey of Galion; and stepsisters, Valeda Tanner of Galion and Karen Owens of Winfield, Tenn.

WALNUT CREEK -- Ernest Gross, 95, a resident of Walnut Hills Retirement Home since 1995 and formerly of Sugarcreek, died Sunday, Nov. 29, at the home after a brief illness. Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at First Mennonite Church in Sugarcreek, with the Rev. Kevin Farmwald officiating. Burial will be at Union Hill Cemetery in Sugarcreek. KETTERING -- Donald Steele, 70, of Kettering, formerly of Orrville, died Saturday, Nov. 28, after a long illness. Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Johnston-Schlabach Funeral Home in Shreve, with the Rev. Priscilla E. Jackson officiating. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. SEMMES, Ala. -- Imogene Phelps Nolletti, 82, a native and resident of Semmes, Ala., died Thursday, Nov. 5, 1998, in Mobile, Ala. Services were held Saturday, Nov. 7 at Semmes First Baptist Church. Burial was at Allentown Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by Radney Funeral Home in Mobile, Ala. Surviving are three children, Sarah P. (Earl) Wilson of Semmes, Ala., Alfred L. (Sherry) Phelps of Ridgeville, S.C. and Seth V. MARIETTA -- Jeanette M. Mankins, 83, former resident of Dun Wrentin Road, died Sunday evening, Nov. 29, at her home in Orrville, where she had resided for the past year. Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at the McClure-Schafer Funeral Home in Marietta with the Rev. Clifford Nuss officiating. Burial will be at East Lawn Memorial Park. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Fred W. and Anne Mankins of Mount Vernon and James B. and Susan Mankins of Orrville; four grandchildren and a brother, Clifford W. Biehl of Marietta.

KILLBUCK -- Harvey J. Hochstetler, 84, 3171 Township Road 86, died Tuesday evening, Dec. 1 at Joel Pomerene Memorial Hospital in Millersburg, following a period of declining health. Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the East Union Mennonite Church near Orrville with the Revs. Delmar Falb and Paul Kandal officiating. Burial will be at East Union Mennonite Church Cemetery. DOYLESTOWN -- Walter "Walt" L. Piatt, 59, of Doylestown died Monday, Nov. 30, at Wooster Community Hospital. Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Zak-Monbarren Funeral Home in Doylestown with the Rev. Lynn Garth officiating. Burial will be at Chestnut Hill Cemetery. WOOSTER -- Imojean Anderson Boley, 73, formerly of Wooster Towers, died Tuesday morning, Dec. 1, at West View Manor in Wooster. Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Fickes Funeral Home in Jeromesville with the Rev. Ken Archer officiating. Burial will be at the Pioneer Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the services on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Fickes Funeral Home in her name to help defray expenses. Surviving are a son, Ronald Scott Boley of Cambridge; her mother, Helen Anderson of the O.E.S.H. in Mount Vernon; three sisters, June Boley and Ada Henry, both of Ashland and Joan McIntire of Smithville and four brothers, John Anderson of Delaware, Kenneth Anderson of Mohicanville, Darwin Anderson of New London and Stanley Anderson of Ashland.

MEDINA -- Gene H. Lawrence, 64, of Medina, died Monday, Nov. 30, at Southwest General Hospital in Middleburg Heights. There will be no services or calling hours. The body is being cremated. Arrangements are being handled by Matteson Funeral Home in West Salem. Surviving are three sons, Randy Lawrence of North Carolina, Rick Lawrence of Indiana and Ralph Lawrence of Lodi; two daughters, Linda Lawrence of Columbia, Tenn. and Brenda Roberts of Hamilton, Ind.; five grandchildren; a brother, Ralph Johns of West Salem and three sisters, Dorothy Kimptom of West Salem, Shirley Thomas of Akron and Angie Scott of Lordstown. 

Patricia Russell
WOOSTER -- Patricia "Pat" A. Russell, 60, 4535 Hunters Chase Lane, died Tuesday morning, Dec. 1, at her home following a short illness. There will be no services. Cremation has taken place and disposition of the cremains will take place at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Custer Funeral Home. She married John M. Russell April 3, 1960 in Wooster. He survives. Surviving in addition to her husband are a son, Douglas (Sharon) Russell of Ashland; two daughters, Mrs. Steve (Debra) Lowrie of Ashland and Mrs. Leaf (Darcy) Novick of Arlington, Va.; two grandchildren; her mother of Wooster; a brother, Kenneth Wirth of Austin, Texas and a sister, Mrs. John (Donna) Palmer of Canton.

WOOSTER -- John B. Arnold Jr., 77, 8439 Ickes Road, died Monday, Nov. 30, at West View Manor Nursing Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 1 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church. He married Irene Tomasetti on Aug. 30, 1947. She survives. WOOSTER -- Fred Culison, 81, 502 Washington St., died Saturday, Nov. 28, at Wooster Community Hospital. Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at McIntire, Davis and Greene Funeral Home with the Rev. Rufus Thompson officiating. Burial will be at Wooster Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. He married Ola Steele on July 6, 1961. She survives. Surviving in addition to his wife are children Dennis Holmes and Jerome (Donna) Holmes, both of Wooster, Lucille Holmes of Orrville, and L. A. Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Rose Ella Sears of Orrville; brothers, Ford (Mary Lou) Radcliff, Corl (Eldine) Radcliff and Willard Radcliff, all of Caldwell; 14 nieces and nephews; 19 great-nieces and nephews; and two great-great-nephews.

MILLERSBURG. -- Levi A. Miller, 69, 4383 State Route 557 (near Charm), died Wednesday evening, Dec. 2, at his residence after a brief illness. Services will be Saturday at 9 a.m. at the residence, with Bishop Andy M. Hershberger officiating. Burial will be in the Miller Family Cemetery, Clark Township, Holmes County. Friends may call anytime at the residence. Smith Funeral Home in Sugarcreek, is handling arrangements. Surviving in addition to his wife are sisters, Amanda Miller of Millersburg and Fannie Yoder of Fredericksburg.

LAKELAND, Fla -- Clarence Hofstetter, 89, 3725 Swindell Road, died Tuesday, Dec. 1, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at New Home Baptist Church in Lakeland, Fla., with C.W. McClelland officiating. Burial will be at New Home Cemetery, Lakeland, Fla. Friends may call tonight (Thursday) from 6-8 at Lanier Funeral Home, 717 W. Griffin Road, Lakeland Fla. Surviving are daughters, Lola Graham of Plant City, Fla., Diane Rogers of Lakeland, Fla., and Marsha Corson of Trenton, N.J.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Irene Hofstetter of Orrville.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Dwain Marvin Hoffer, 64, 5927 E. Campo Belle Drive, died Wednesday, Dec. 2. Memorial services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Hansen Mortuary, 6500 E. Bell Road, Scottsdale, Ariz., where friends may call one hour prior to the services. Memorial contributions may be made to The Wilderness Center, Wilmot 44689; or to a charity of the donor's choice. Surviving are his wife, Lynda (DuPont) Hoffer; sons, Scott (Allison) Hoffer of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Brian Hoffer of Columbia, Mo.; two grandsons; his mother of North Canton; a sister, Carolyn DiRussio of Lompoc, Calif.; and several relatives in the Wayne County area.

RITTMAN -- Edith Marie Bise, 81, of Rittman, died Wednesday, Dec. 2, at Rittman Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, after a lengthy illness. Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston, with the Rev. Jeff Hatfield officiating. Burial will be at Creston Maple Mound Cemetery. WOOSTER -- Esther Brenner, 91, formerly of Williamsburg Court, died Wednesday, Dec. 2, at Eastland Care Center in Columbus. Graveside services will be Sunday at 12:30 p.m. at Wooster Cemetery, with Rabbi Kevin Hale officiating. There will be no calling hours. McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster is handling arrangements. Surviving are children, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Brenner and Libby (Ron) Savage, all of Columbus and Elaine (Richard) Cole of Twinsburg; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
