NORTH LAWRENCE -- Gregory L. Close, 61, of North Lawrence, died Saturday, Oct. 10. Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of the Cross United Methodist Church, North Lawrence with the Rev. Douglas Meek officiating. Burial will be at Newmans Creek Cemetery. Friends may call tonight (Monday) from 6-8 at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home or one hour prior to service at the church on Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to Chapel of the Cross United Methodist Church or Newmans Creek Cemetery Association. Surviving are his wife, Janet; sons, James G. Close of St. Charles, Mo. and Mark (Diane) Close of North Lawrence; three grandchildren, James M., Gregory Scot and Marissa Dawn and a brother, Gary Close of Canal Fulton. 

Clara Cooper
WOOSTER -- Clara E. Cooper, 92, formerly of 539 Forest Creek Drive, died Saturday morning, Oct. 10, at Smithville-Western Care Center, where she had resided since 1991. Graveside services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Mount Eaton Cemetery in Mount Eaton with the Rev. Dr. Alan E. Nathan officiating. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements are being handled by Custer Funeral Home. Surviving are a sister, Beulah M. Barnes of Wooster and several nieces and nephews. 

Robert Englis
BREWSTER -- Robert M. Englis, 73, of Brewster, died Friday afternoon, Oct. 9, 1998, following a sudden illness. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are being handled by Alexander Funeral Home in Millersburg. Also surviving are two daughters, Dr. Catherine Butler Ward of Iowa and Barbara Englis of California; grandson, Jonathan Butler; stepson, Victor Hill of Killbuck; stepdaughter, Susan Hill of Texas and step-grandson, Alexander Hill. 

Anna Forney
ORRVILLE -- Anna Elizabeth Forney, 81, was claimed by her Lord on October 8, 1998, following a brief battle with brain cancer. Her younger brother, John, lives in Dallas, Pa. Ann married Richard L. Forney on June 4, 1954 in the old Church of Christ. They have made their home at 328 Washington Blvd. in Orrville for many years. Ann had two daughters from a previous marriage: Billie Terrell Blosser of Erie, Pa. and Gail Ann Hawks of Miami, Fla. Ann is survived by her husband, Richard, her two daughters, and four grandchildren, Richard M. Blosser of California, Carrie T. Scheckelhoff of Ohio, Elizabeth M. Osorio of Florida and Abigail E. Blosser of North Carolina; five great-grandchildren, Caitlin, Kelsey and Robert Blosser of California, Sebastian Osorio of Florida and Ruby Scheckelhoff of Ohio. Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 10, 1998 at the Orrville Church of Christ with Pastor Tom Ledford officiating. Burial took place in Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Wayne County, 2525A Back Orrville Road, Wooster, Ohio 44691. Auble Funeral Home in Orrville handled arrangements. 

Clare Flickinger
CUYAHOGA FALLS -- Clare W. Flickinger, 92, of Cuyahoga Falls, died Saturday, Oct. 10, at Akron General Hospital. Graveside service will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Chestnut Hill Cemetery in Doylestown with the Rev. Dr. David Tennant officiating. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements are being handled by Zak-Monbarren Funeral Home in Doylestown. Surviving in addition to his wife, who currently resides in Doylestown, are a son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Pat Flickinger of Murrells Inlet, S.C.; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

DUNDEE -- Joe L. Hershberger, 95, 1470 Township Road 661, died Sunday, Oct. 11, at his home, following an illness of four months. Services will be Wednesday at 9 a.m. at his residence with Bishop Jacob J. J. Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Hershberger Cemetery, Wayne Township, Tuscarawas County. Surviving are his wife, Amanda; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Vernon Hershberger and Abe and Gertie Hershberger, all of Dundee; a daughter, Mrs. Harry (Katie) Hostetler of Dundee; 11 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Bert R. WALHONDING -- Norma Alice McCaleb, 90, of State Route 715, died Sunday, Oct. 11, at the Sunset View Nursing Home in Millersburg. Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw with the Rev. John Russell officiating. Burial will be at the Valley View Cemetery in Warsaw. AKRON -- David W. Miley, 47, of Akron, died Sunday morning, Oct. 11, at Cuyahoga Falls General Hospital. Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Nashville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Thomas Wallace officiating. Burial will be at Nashville Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the Alexander Funeral Home in Millersburg. Surviving are his wife, Lindsey; two sisters, Mrs. William (Carol) Kallberg of Winesburg and Mrs. Ned (Nancy) Billings of Waverly and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. 

Garcy Aten
WOOSTER -- Garcy A. Aten, 56, 3246 W. Old Lincoln Way, died Saturday, Oct. 10, 1998. at his home. Memorial services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Oak Chapel United Methodist Church, Wooster, with the Rev. David Harding officiating. Private interment will be at Pioneer Cemetery in Wooster. SUGARCREEK -- Delbert H. Shetler, 70, 4175 Township Road 402, died Saturday, Oct. 10, at his residence, after a long illness. Services will be Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Shetler residence with the Bishop Levi J. Yoder officiating. Burial will follow at Shetler Cemetery in Clark Township, Holmes County. Surviving are his wife, Elmina; three sons, Leroy (Mary) Shetler of Sugarcreek, Paul (Mary Ann) Shetler of Millersburg and Mervin (Saloma) Shetler of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Abe A. (Betty) Yoder of Fredericksburg; Mrs. Abe E. (Alma) Miller and Mrs. Leroy E. (Irene) Kuhns, both of Millersburg; 39 grandchildren; two brothers, Malva H. and Paul H. Albert Struck
ORRVILLE -- Albert C. "Al" Struck, 89, formerly of 425 S. Main St., died Saturday evening, Oct. 10, at Lincoln Manor Health Care Center in Orrville. Memorial services will be at Auble Funeral Home in Orrville on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. with the Rev. Walter Jordan officiating. Cremation has taken place. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6:30-7:30 p.m. prior to the memorial service. A Masonic Memorial Service will be at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Singleton of Kansas City, Mo., daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Lane Anderson of Roselle, Ill.; grandchildren and spouses, John and Gina Singleton of Doylestown, Jeff and Tammy Singleton of Barberton, and Albert and Michelle Anderson of Chicago, and grandchildren, Jerry Singleton of Los Angeles, Calif., Jennifer Anderson of Waukegan, Ill., and Gary Anderson of Roselle, Ill.; and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by brothers, Emil and Theodore Struck and a sister, Gertrude Hollis. 

Wilbur Eckard
NAPLES, Fla. -- Wilbur Eckard, 84, of Naples Florida and formerly of Dalton, died Friday, Oct. 9. There will be private family services. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Marty Suchik of Atlanta; and a son, Jeff Eckard also of the Atlanta area and five grandchildren. 

Richard Pfeister I
BALTIC -- Richard E. Pfeister I, 56, 119 Buena Vista St., died Monday, Oct. 12, at the Union Hospital Emergency Department, after an apparent heart attack. Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Smith Funeral Home in Sugarcreek with the Rev. Daniel Legg officiating. Friends may call Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association. Surviving are his wife, Martha; four daughters, Sonya M. Chapman of Quaker City, Mrs. Doug (Melissa) Courchene of Palm Harbor, Fla., Tina M. Kirk of the home and Michele A. Pfeister of the home; two sons, Richard E. WOODSTOCK, Ga. -- Joseph C. Walton, 91, formerly of Wooster, died Sunday, Oct. 4, at the Woodstock Nursing Home in Woodstock, Ga. Memorial service will be Saturday, Oct. 24 at the East Cobb Baptist Church in Marietta, Ga. Surviving are his wife, Alma; two daughters, JoAnn Nusbaum of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Rita Curtis of Alpharetta, Ga; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. 

Denny Galehouse Sr.
DOYLESTOWN -- Dennis W. "Denny" Galehouse, Sr., 86, passed away October 12, 1998, at his home in Doylestown, due to complications from heart disease. Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Zak-Monbarren Funeral Home in Doylestown with Dr. David Tennant officiating. Burial at Chestnut Hill Cemetery. BALTIC -- Leona M. Freese, 88, 121 S. Butler St., died Tuesday, Oct. 13, at Baltic Country Manor, after an extended illness. Graveside services will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at West Lawn Cemetery in Baltic with the Rev. David Hammel officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Smith Funeral Home in Baltic. She was born Aug. 24, 1910 in Baltic to John and Clara (Sampsel) Freese. Surviving are nieces, Shirley Gerber and Delores Raber, both of Baltic and nephews, Ronnie Felton of Baltic and Bob Felton of Fresno.

KILLBUCK -- Irene Park, 95, formerly of Killbuck, died Tuesday morning, Oct. 13, at Brenn-Field Nursing Center in Orrville, where she had resided since 1992. SHREVE -- Mabel L. Priest, 82, 8645 Columbus Road, died early Tuesday morning, Oct. 13, at Wooster Community Hospital. DALTON -- Alyson K. Bates, 3 month old daughter of Donald and Kathi (Shad) Bates of Dalton, died Wednesday, Oct. 14, at Childrens Hospital Medical Center of Akron. Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Zak-Monbarren Funeral Home in Dalton with the Rev. Thomas Cebula officiating. Burial will be at Dalton Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. She was born July 2, 1998. ALLIANCE -- Florence A. Barcus, 81, 643 W. Summit, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, at McCrea Manor in Alliance. She was the mother and mother-in-law of John R. and Sue Barcus of Wooster. Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home in Alliance with the Revs. William Sadler, Ellen Acton and Bob Meyer officiating. Burial will be at Highland Memorial Park. FAIRBORN -- Sylvia (Beyler) Krites Simmons, 86, of Fairborn and formerly of Orrville, passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 1998, at Collinswood Nursing Center in Fairborn. Graveside services will be Wednesday, October 21, 1998 at 2 p.m. at Maple Grove Cemetery in Marshallville with Pastor Karen Oehl officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Sylvia's memory to the United Methodist Church of Marshallville. Arrangements are being handled by Burcham Funeral Home, 119 E. Main Street, Fairborn.
