Jeanette (Visca) Lombardi
JEANETTE (VISCA) LOMBARDI
Mom was one of those people who could capture you under her spell, wrap her arms around you and make you feel secure . . . and loved. She could also be a free spirit; at times, a lost soul . . . an enigmatic personality that confused as much as it brought joy. The person we'll remember is the pretty woman, with the laughing blue eyes, the sensitive heart, and the vulnerable soul.
Mom shared 75 Christmases with her loved ones. She was born at home in Kent on Aug. 3, 1923, at 6:15 in the morning, the eldest child of Anselm and Carrie (Ramicone) Visca. She was present for the births of most of her sisters and brothers (in order), Albert (Helen) Visca, Dolores (Joe) Repa, Betty (Ian) McEwan, Bill Visca, Marguerite (Hank) Cigole, Joan (Jerry) Linnen, and Judy (Bill) Foster.
She graduated from Kent State High School in 1941. She went to work for Davey Tree for two years, then worked for Black & Decker during the war years as one of the acclaimed ``Rosie the Riveters.'' It was then that she met her husband, Ange, and began raising her family. She joins her beloved husband, Ange, mother, father, and brother, Al, in the hands of the Lord, along with other much-loved relatives and friends.
She is survived by her children, Carol (Ron) Root, Linda (Guy) Salvato, and Tim (Janice) Lombardi; the grandchildren she adored, all of whom brought her more happiness than they'll ever know: Jason Root, Natalie, Adam, Elyse, and Joseph Lombardi; surviving brother and sisters named above, plus numerous cousins, aunts, nieces and nephews. Mom was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Stow.
Our affection and thanks to her most recent and dedicated ``companions'' over the past two years, the men and women who cared for her during her most frightening times: cardiologist William Schiavone, who will always be a member of our extended family, personal physician. Jeffrey Eckman, the coronary and intensive care units and emergency services personnel at Akron City Hospital, Stow and Cuyahoga Falls Firefighter/Paramedics who gave of their hearts as much as their talent to care for mom.
Friends may call Monday, 6 to 9 p.m., at Redmon Funeral Home. Mass of the Christian Burial Tuesday, 10 a.m., at Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial at Standing Rock Cemetery. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to Stow Fire Department Emergency Equipment Fund, 3800 Darrow Rd., Stow 44224; or to Cuyahoga Falls Fire Department EMS Fire Rescue Fund, 1924 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls 44221.
