Born in Akron, she had belonged to Women of the Moose 852 (College

Preceded in death by husband, Herman E.; son, Thomas R. Quinlan; and
granddaughter, Michelle, she is survived by sister, Sylvia (Richard) Dillon
of Mogadore; brother, Donald W. (Joan) Partridge of Steens, Miss.; grandchildren,
Michael (Melanie) Quinlan, Steven Quinlan and Suzanne Quinlan, all of Texas;
great-grandchildren, Zachary and Taylor; nieces, Debra (Dale) Lewis of
Tennessee, Renee (Tim) Ambrose of Florida; nephews, Donald (Laurie) Butcher
of Akron, Donald (Debbie) Partridge Jr. of Mississippi; several great-nieces

RITTMAN -- Corle M. Zimmerman, 94, of Rittman, died Dec. 29, 1998,
at the Rittman Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
She was born in Marshallville and lived most of her life in Rittman.
She was an active member of the Rittman United Methodist Church.
Surviving are son, Duane (Mary) Zimmerman of Creston; daughter, Mrs.
Paul (Corlene) Snyder of Wooster; 10 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.

Iva E. Fox-Votaw
Iva E. Fox-Votaw, 68, of Atwater, died Tuesday at Robinson Memorial
Hospital, following a long illness.
Born Dec. 30, 1929, in Akron, she was the daughter of Charles and Myrtle
(Skinner) Clawson.
Survivors include sons, Clarence of Indiana, William of Florida, and
Earl, Terry, and Raymond of Randolph; daughters, Bertha Fox of Cuyahoga
Falls and Sue Seiter of Suffield; 16 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sherry Fox.
Friends will be received Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Wood-Kortright
Funeral Home (Ravenna Chapel). The service will follow at 11 a.m. Interment

John Stephen Varga
John Stephen Varga, 72, passed away Monday, Dec. 28, 1998.
He was born in Barberton. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after
38 years service and, after his retirement, worked for Acme Click for five
years. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, where he
served as an Eucharist Minister. He was a member of the Postal Union, the
Jednota Club, and a veteran of the Army, serving in World War II.
Mr. Varga is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Pauline; sons
and daughters-in-law, John and Sherry of Canal Fulton, Ron and Cheryl of
Canal Fulton; brothers, Joseph of South Bend, Ind., Michael of Tallmadge;
sisters, Barbara Streifender of Warrensville Heights, Margaret Kreptowski
of Cuyahoga Falls, Mary Toth of Cuyahoga Falls, Elizabeth Robinson of Kent;
grandchildren, Lani, Johnny, Melissa, Scott, and Matthew; and many nieces
and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, 9:30 a.m., at the Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz
Funeral Home, 95 W. Waterloo Rd.; and at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist

Dean G. Otto
MOGADORE -- Dean G. Otto, 80, passed away Dec. 28, 1998.
Born in Mogadore, he was a life resident, retiring from the General
Tire & Rubber Co. in January 1979 after 33 years of service. Mr. Otto
was a veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces, and was a life member of Mogadore
Christian Church, where he served as deacon, 29 years as an elder, 16 years
as Bible School superintendent, and was head of Christian Men's Fellowship.
He was also past and current president of Mogadore Lions Club, a member
of American Legion Post 452, J.O.U.M., the Mogadore Historical Society,
and Mogadore Athletic Boosters.
Preceded in death by his brother, Elwood; and parents, Orrin and Pearl,
he is survived by his wife of 43 years, Alice; son and daughter-in-law,
Gordon D. and Rita of Mogadore; and grandchildren, Christopher, Kyle, and
Katy.

Erica Kinzel
Erica Kinzel, 76, died Dec. 28, 1998.
Born in Germany, she had been a resident of Bath Township for 38 years.
Mrs. Kinzel was a member of Thayer Street Church of Christ, and was an
avid and accomplished quilter. She actively volunteered at Akron General
Medical Center, working over 5000 hours in 26 years, serving on the board
of the Service League, and at the Wellness Center. She spent countless
hours in her beautiful garden, and had a great love of animals, actively
contributing to the Humane Society.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Leonard; daughters and
sons-in-law, Diana and Pat McCollum, and Kathy and Larry Campbell, all
of Bath Township; son and daughter-in-law, Don and Gail Kinzel of Sharon
Township; grandchildren, Bob and Andy McCollum, Christy MacKay, Kim Leigh,
Randy Campbell, and David Kinzel; three great-grandchildren; and brother,
Gerhard ``Jerry'' Bechler.
Services will be held at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd.,

William E. Hailey
William E. Hailey, 69, died Dec. 29, 1998, from a long illness.
Born July 2, 1929, in Humboldt, Tenn., he resided at New Dawn Retirement
Center in Dover, Ohio, and was formerly of Benton, Ky., and Akron. He graduated
from South High School in Akron, and was employed by Babcock & Wilcox
of Barberton, where he was a supervisor in the foundry. He was a member
of the Baptist Church, and was a U.S. Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd Hailey and Gladys Massey
``Gearhart''' and brother, Gene. Survivors include sister, Mrs. Robert
(Bonnie Dean) Burkhart of Dover; half-brother, Otto Gearhart Jr. of Canal
Fulton; half-sisters, Shirley McHenry of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Freda
Jacobs of Akron; stepsisters, Anna May Fouse and Audrey Case of Akron.

Anthony C. Aman, 85, passed away Monday, Dec. 28, 1998.
He was born in Akron and retired from Allside U.S. Steel in 1976 with
20 years service. He was a member of the Family Motor Coach Association
and the Civil Air Patrol during World War II.
Mr. Aman is survived by wife, Blanche; sons and daughters-in-law, Gary
and Marjorie of Akron, Dennis and Barbara of Clinton; daughter, Karen Gugliotta
of Raleigh, N.C.; seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Caroline Quotson, 88, passed away Dec. 29, 1998, at Copley Healthcare
Center.
She was born in Ashtabula, Ohio, and had lived in the Akron area for
65 years. Mrs. Quotson was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, was
a loving and dedicated homemaker, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother,
and will be sadly missed by all.
Preceded in death by husband of 71 years, Patrick A. (Dec. 20, 1998);
and six brothers and sisters, she is survived by son, Patrick D. of Akron;
daughters, Mary (Gene) Gardner of Barberton, Patti (Jerry) Hammell of Norton;
12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; brothers, Mike Caruso and Tony
Caruso; and sister, Mary Hamm, all of California.

Richard Laney
Richard Laney, 73, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1998.
He was born April 26, 1925, in Corning, Ohio, the son of Louis and
Rose (Hillyer) Laney. Mr. Laney served his country in the Army during World
War II. He was member of the American Legion Post 611 and a lifetime member
of the Copley V.F.W. Post 7971. Avid golfer, camper, fisherman, devoted
husband, father, grandfather, friend to all; you will be missed.
He is survived by wife, Barbara; children, Pat (Ken) Glasgow of Crest-line,
Don (Gail) Laney, Judy (Bob) Gager, all of Cuyahoga Falls, Susie (Mike)

Wilfred F. Kysor
Wilfred F. Kysor, 86 years of age, passed away December 29, 1998.
He was born on Oct. 13, 1912, the beloved son of Sam and Mary Jane,
and loved brother of seven sisters and three brothers. He was the most
dear and loved father of four children, Wanda McLain of Homeworth, Ohio,
Shirley (Russ) English of Green, Jack (Shirley) Kysor of Hollywood, Calif.,
and Bill (Jennifer) Kysor of North Wales, Pa.; three stepchildren, the
late Bill (Carol) Foster, Bruce (Sherry) Foster of Uniontown, and Dixie
(Willis) Eagan of Florida. He had 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren,
and two great-great-grandchildren.
He worked 42 years at Goodyear Tire & Rubber, retiring on June
1, 1974. These years he always said were his happiest, and he had many
great stories to tell. He was a hard worker all his life. Dad greatly enjoyed
all children, and requested that all remembrances be made to the Christ
Child Society, 604 N. Main St., Akron 44310. He was a happy person, always
smiling. He had a wonderful laugh that we'll never forget. We will always
miss you, Dad. It was an honor to be your daughter. Godspeed on your new
journey. You've made a mark on all our lives. You're loved forever.

Glen E. Jenkins
FAIRFIELD GLADE, Tenn. -- Eleanor Young Jenkins, 78, and her husband,
Glen Edward Jenkins, 76, of 147 Meadowview Dr., died Thursday, Dec. 17,
1998, from injuries incurred in an automobile accident.
Mrs. Jenkins was a native of Providence, R.I., and was the daughter
of Vincent Willard and Gertrude Susan Claypool Young. She was preceded
in death by sister, Winifred Young; and brother, Ernest Young. She was
a graduate of Oklahoma State University. She was a retired schoolteacher
with 13 years of service in Bedford County, Va. She was a member of American
Association of University Women for over 50 years, and was the founder
of a continuing-education program for senior citizens, called ``Life Time
Learning,'' in Fairfield Glade. She was a Kappa Alpha Theta, and a volunteer
for Self help for the Hard of Hearing. She was an active member of Fairfield
Glade Community Church. She is survived by nephews, James and Ernest Young;
six grand-nephews, two great-grand-nephews, and two great-grand-nieces.
Mr. Jenkins was a native of Alta, Iowa. He was the son of the late
Charles Clayton and Elsie King Jenkins, and preceded in death by three
brothers. He was a University of South Carolina graduate, and a member
of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He was retired from the U.S. Navy with 22 1/2
years of service, and a retired farmer. He was a volunteer for Hospice
and Income Tax Assistance Program. He was a member of Fairfield Glade Community
Church. He is survived by brother, Wayne Jenkins of Springfield, Iowa.
They are survived by son and daughter-in-law, J.D. Jenkins and Marti
Rafal-Jenkins of Reno, Nev.; three stepgrandchildren, and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

Rev. Jesse C. Hendricks Sr. (Poppy) departed this life Dec. 29, 1998.
He was born in Franklin, Ga., and had lived in the Akron area for 72
years, where he was a supervisor of housekeeping for Western Reserve, a
former member of Mt. Calvary Lodge of Cleveland, and a member of Independent
Church of God Saints of Christ.
Preceded in death by wife, Delilah E.; and son, Evan. Jesse C. Hendricks
Jr., he is survived by son, Elder Ron Anderson of Cleveland; daughters,
Deborah J. (Acie) Walker, Vashti O. (Henry) Keith, Mary O. (Payton) Wallace,
all of Akron; daughter-in-law, Donna D. Hendricks of Columbus; special
niece, Mildred Turner; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, nieces,

Vasil T. ``Bill'' Halacheff
Vasil T. `Bill` Halacheff, 95, died peacefully in his sleep at home
Dec. 29, 1998.
Vasil was born in Souhindol, Bulgaria, and came to the United States
in 1934 with his wife, Zdrava, and young daughter, Cecelia. He and his
wife owned and operated the City Cafe, a family restaurant. After retiring
from the restaurant business, Vasil worked for a number of years for the
State of Ohio, in the Fairlawn Plaza State Liquor Store. A member of St.
Thomas Eastern Orthodox Church, he enjoyed cooking, hunting, and fishing,
and was an avid gardener.
He was a wonderful father, and a dear and loving grandfather and great-grandfather,
who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Preceded in death by wife, Zdrava ``Goldie,'' in 1987; and son-in-law,
Jacques Ragan, in 1975, he is survived by daughter, Cecelia Ragan; grandsons,
Jack V. and James M. Ragan; and great-grandsons, Christopher and Dustin
Ragan.

Anna Galat, 93, died Monday evening, Dec. 28, 1998, in Mansfield, Ohio.
Mrs. Galat was born March 4, 1905, in Morton, Ill., and lived most

Joe S. Filarsky
Joe S. Filarsky, 82, died Dec. 20, 1998.
Mr. Filarsky was born in St. Benedict, Pa., and had been a longtime
area resident. He served with the U.S. Air Force during World War II as
a bombardier in the 15th Air Force Division, flying out of England and
Africa. Joe was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and the
Jednota Club 553. He retired with 37 years service from the PPG Co.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary; his sister
and brother-in-law, Mary Toth and Steve Toth. His survivors include sisters,
Ann (John) Petrosek and Elizabeth Kurnath; nephews, Edward S. (Arlene)
Toth, Tom Petrosek, and Norbert (Marilyn) Kurnath; great-niece, Denise
(Bill) Hendon and their children, Adrienne, Sarah, Claudia, and Will; nephew,
Edward B. Toth and his children, Kaylee and Marena; and special friend,

Mrs. Chrislip was born in Uniontown, Pa., and had resided in Cuyahoga
Falls since 1957, moving here from Kingwood, W. Va. She had worked as a
clerk for White Hardware in Cuyahoga Falls until they closed, and was a
member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband, John A.; daughter and son-in-law, Cathy
and Pat McGinnis; granddaughter, Crystal McGinnis, all of Cuyahoga Falls;
brother, Louie John of Kingwood, W. Va.; devoted friend, Vi Sandrene.

Muriel M. Burnham, of Akron, died Dec. 30, 1998.
Muriel was a resident of Akron and Cleveland. She attended Akron University,
Western Reserve University, and was a graduate of Actual Business College.

and Sanctuary Society, a member of the Christ Child Society of Cleveland,
and a charter member of the Christ Child Society of Stuart, Fla. She was
also a member of the Akron Woman's City Club, Girl Scout Trefoil--life
member, the Garden Club of Stuart, Fla., the Woman's Auxiliary Board of
Stan Hywet Hall, the Parliamentary Law Study Club of Akron, and the Western

She was the beloved wife of Charles S. for 58 years, and is also survived
