Anthony Paul Volpe
Anthony Paul Volpe, died January 17th, 2001 in Venice, FL. Anthony
had been a lifelong resident of the Canton area; born in Canton on April
12th, 1920. He is survived by a daughter, Heidi of Sydney, Australia; son,
Alex of Atlanta, GA; sisters, Rose Manderine of Canton, Sue Thompson of
Canton, and Angie Epps of Venice, FL; and brothers, Sam of Canton and Al
of Pharr, TX. A memorial mass will be at St. Paul's Catholic Church on
Main St. in North Canton on April 7th at 10:30 a.m. Graveside services
to be held immediately following the mass at Calvary Cemetery. A Bereavement
Reception will be held at 8 p.m. Friday, April 6th at the Holiday Inn North
Canton, 4520 Everhard Rd. NW. In lieu of flowers, please send donations

David M. Hoffman, age 33, of Alliance; loving husband, father, son
and brother, passed away Friday, March 30, 2001, in the Cleveland Clinic
following a courageous battle with cancer. Friends may call Monday evening
from 5-7 p.m. in the First Friends Church of Alliance. A mass of Christian
burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Louis Catholic Church
with Msgr. Ken Miller officiating. The Paquelet-Falk Funeral Home of Louisville

Grace I. Busse
Grace I. Busse, age 85, of Lake Cable (Jackson Twp.), passed away Saturday
morning at her home. Grace was born February 21, 1914, in Navarre. She
lived in this area most of her life and was a homemaker. Mrs. Busse was
a member of Church of the Lakes and the Lake Cable Women's Club. She was
preceded in death by father, Russell Bowers; mother, Ida (Resh) Bowers
Kehl; step-father, Fred Kehl; husband, Frank C. Busse; and a granddaughter.
She is survived by daughter, Marian Preece of Massillon; grandson, Robert
Preece of Massillon; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will
be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Paquelet Funeral Home in Massillon, the Rev.
Bryan George will officiate. Burial will be at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

Irene F. Randels
Irene F. Randels, age 89, of Canton, passed away Friday morning, March
30, 2001, in the Canton Christian Home following an extended illness. Born
in Navarre, OH, January 20, 1912 to her parents the late Lloyd E. and Edith
M. (Poorman) Rowe, she lived most of her life in the Canton area. Mrs.
Randels was a former school teacher in the Massillon City Schools and the
Canton Public School Systems. She was a member of First Christian Church,
Dorcas Class and the Stark County Retired Teacher's Association. Besides
her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Malvern
W. Randels in 1985 and her brother, Clyde Rowe. Survivors include two daughters
and sons-in-law, Edith M. and Peter Q. Rich of Toms River, NJ, Sharon and
Thomas S. Toomey of North Canton, OH; grandchildren, Catherine L. Latshaw
of Toms River, NJ, David Q. Rich of Boston, MA, Brian Toomey of Raleigh,
NC; and one brother-in-law, Ray F. Randels. Funeral services will be conducted
Monday at 1 p.m. in the Reed Funeral Home with Mr. Ron Iwanusa, Chaplain,
of the Canton Christian Home officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial
Gardens, Massillon, OH. Calling hours at the funeral home one hour prior
to services on Monday from 12:00-1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions
to the Canton Christian Home Benevolent Fund.

Mary E. Black, age 94, of Canton, passed away March 28, 2001. Born
in Jefferson County, OH, Ms. Black lived in Canton most of her life and
was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church in Canton. Survived by her sisters,
Alice Black and Margaret Nivens, both of Green; numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Sunset Hills Memorial Gardens
with Rev. David Morgan officiating. There will be no calling hours. Memorials

Paul E. Saeger
Paul E. Saeger, age 88, of Louisville, passed away Friday, March 30,
2001, at Akron General Medical Center. He was born February 15, 1913, at
Middlebranch, OH., to the late Lloyd and Mary (Bair) Saeger. He was a World
War II Army Veteran, and was retired from J L Steel. Paul was a member
of Israel's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Paris, Friends of Corvair Club,
Nimishillen Grange, Buckeye Camp Club, Stark, Dover and Tuscarawas Antique
Power Association, American Legion Post 548 of Louisville and the Retirees
of LTV. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilbur and Homer Saeger;
a sister, Anna Vernier. He is survived by his wife, Viola M. (Bair) Saeger;
two daughters and a son-in-law, Jeanne Sands, Karen and Jim Yerkey; a son
and daughter-in-law, Larry and Karen Saeger all of Louisville; a sister,
Dorthea Linerode of Louisville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert
and Vivian Saeger, Gene and Marge Saeger all of Paris; five grandchildren;
11 great-grandchildren. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Stier-Israel
Funeral Home of Louisville, with Pastor Bonnie Gerber officiating. Friends
may call from 6-8 p.m. Monday and one hour before services on Tuesday.
Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Louisville. Nimishillen Grange will
hold services at 5:45 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions
may be made to Israel's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Paris.

Pauline Ann Coates
Pauline Ann Coates, age 61, of Canton, OH, passed away Friday morning
in the Windsor Medical Center following an extended illness. Born in Canton
on March 26, 1940. She was a retired Administrator with the Stark County
Department of Human Services, retiring in 1990 after 30 years of service.
Following her retirement, she and her husband had owned and operated the
Coates China and Porcelain Studio in Canton. She was preceded in death
by parents, Herman J. and Bertha Shanabruch; stepson, Russ A. Coates. Survivors
include her husband, Glenn E. Coates the home; stepson, Todd L. Coates
of Amelia, OH; granddaughter, Stacey D. Coates; grandson, Aaron B. Coates;
her sister, Irene Waechter of Florida; brother, Ralph Shanbruch of California;
her beloved nieces and nephews and their spouses, John and Donna Waechter
of North Canton, Jerry and Terri Waechter of Florida, Barbara and Ron Cornell
of Canal Fulton, Diane and Brady Placek of Florida, Vincent and Linda Waechter
of Massillon, Mark and Tracy Waechter of Louisville, Paul Waechter of Canton,
Tom and Lisa Waechter of Navarre, Ken and Sheila Waechter of Florida. Funeral

William Henry Steen
William Henry Steen, age 87, of Canton, passed away Friday evening,
March 30, 3001, in Mercy Medical Center following a two week illness. Born
in Sharon, OH., July 25, 1913, to his parents the late William and Letitia
(Martin) Steen. He was a 1931 graduate of Caldwell High School and lived
most of his life in the Canton area. Mr. Steen was a retired employee of
the Timken Co., retiring in 1976 after 35 years of service. He was a member
of Reedurban Presbyterian Church, Autumn Leaves Sunday School Class, former
treasurer of the Church, member of Church Building Committee, Masonic Lodge
F. A.M. of Sharon, Ohio. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death
by three brothers, Byron, Herbert and Forest Steen; two sisters, Pauline
Sampson and Olive Foreman. Survivors include his wife, Freda E. Steen of
the home to whom he was married 59 years; his son and daughter-in-law,
James H. and Marty Steen of Canton; his daughter, Carol Steen of Canton;
two step-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday 1 p.m.
in Reedurban Presbyterian Church with Rev. Gary Miller officiating. Burial
will be in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. Calling hours at the Reed Funeral
