Annell Manielly, age 81, of Canton, retired from Perry Schools Cafeteria
after 35 years of service. She attended Perry Christian Church for 30 years.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, William and Sharon Manielly
of Texas; two granddaughters, Jusciunta Manielly and Stephanie Jackson;
and one great-grandson, Colby Jackson. Graveside services will be conducted
Wednesday (today) at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at Sunset Hills Burial Park

Beverly Laschinske, age 74, of Byron, CA formerly of Louisville, OH
passed away April 6, 2001 in California following a long illness. She is
survived by her husband, Robert Laschinske; her daughter, Lorelei McFadden
of Mound House, NV; sons, Scott Laschinske of San Jose, CA and Brad Laschinske,
of Byron, CA. Private family services will be held in California.
Daniel Dedmon, Sr.
Daniel D. Dedmon, Sr., age 91, formerly of Canton and more recently
of Oregon, OH, died Sunday evening in St. Charles Hospital in Oregon. He
was retired from Canton Drop Forge. Preceded in death by his wife, Clara,
in 1968; 11 sisters and brothers. Survived by a son, Daniel D. Dedmon,
Jr. of Oregon, OH, with whom he lived: a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia
and John Kinsinger of Palm Bay. Fl; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

Donna J. Nixdorf
Donna J. Nixdorf, age 65, of Canton, passed away Tuesday, April 10,
2001, at the residence. A lifetime resident of Canton, she was a member
of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Canton, Lady Elks Canton Lodge #68, F.O.E.
McKinley Aerie #2370 and Loyal Order of the Moose Ladies Auxiliary Canton
Lodge #332. Preceded in death by her father, Robert O. Schoeppner. Survived
by her husband, Harold G. Nixdorf; two sons and daughter-in-law, Thomas
E. and Jo Ann Nixdorf of Akron, Eric M. Nixdorf of California; daughter,
Deborah A. Fye of Arizona; three grandchildren; mother, Loretta M. Schoeppner
of Columbus; half sister, Rosemarie Dougherty of Columbus. Funeral services
will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Welch-Sekeres-Lewis Funeral Home. Rev.

Earl Pearlman
Earl Pearlman, age 76, of Canton, passed away Monday April 9, 2001
in the comfort of his home after an extended illness. He was born in Canton
on January 14,1925 to the late Karl Esther (Krusner) Pearlman and was a
McKinley High School Graduate. Upon graduation, he served in the Army's
Mule Pack during WW II and received the Purple Heart Medal. Earl attended
Canton Actual Business College and graduated from the National Institute
of Dry Cleaning. He was an aspiring entrepreneur involved in many businesses
including Bell Dry Cleaning, Kaplan Service Station, and Appliance Parts
Company. In Wooster he had worked at Value City Discount Store. He was
a member of Shaaray Torah Synagogue, Colleague Club, and the Jewish War
Veterans. Preceded in death by a son, Steven; sister, Helen Spector, and
brothers, Leo, Sam, and Edward. He is survived by his wife of 54 years,
Helen; daughters and son-in-law, Laura Rick Solomon and Karla Pearlman
all of Canton; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael Susan Pearlman of Alabama,
and Dean Jackie Pearlman of Canton; and 7 grandchildren, Max, Stephen,
Renee, and Caitlyn Solomon, Julie Pearlman, and Zachary, and Shaina Pearlman.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday (TODAY) 1:00 PM in the Arnold Funeral
Home with Cantor Bruce Braun officiating. Final Resting Place is Canton
Hebrew Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Shaaray Torah Synagogue
or to Aultman Hospice. The family will be receiving friends 7-9 PM on Wednesday,

Gene Yock Daily
Gene Yock Daily, age 75, of Riveria Beach, Palm Lake Estates, FL, passed
away April 8. Born Sept. 19, 1925 in McDonaldsville, OH. He was preceded
in death by his mother, Dorene Kepler and wife, Gretchen. He is survived
by his sisters, Margaret and Paul Parks of Canton, Kathryn and Carl Crawford
of Jackson, OH; brothers, Don and Mildred Kepler of Jupiter Farms, FL,
and Duane and Margaret Kepler of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; and many nieces
and nephews. He retired from the Navy after 26 years of service. He was
a Veteran of World War II, Korean and Vietnam Wars with many Navy Honors.
He loved sports, especially baseball. He played his first varsity football
game at age 13 and won 12 varsity sports letters at Jackson High School
in Stark Co., OH. He played minor league baseball for the Johnnies in the
KOM League from 1946 to 1950 and returned to the Navy when the Korean War
broke out. Locally he worked at Bear Lakes Country Club. Memorial services
will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2001 at 2 p.m. at William Howard Funeral
Home, U.S. Highway One, in North Palm Beach, FL. In lieu of flowers contributions
to Hospice of Palm Beach Co. would be appreciated.
Harold D. Alton
Harold D. Alton, age 93, formerly of Canton, died Monday afternoon
in West Palm Beach, FL. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
He is survived by his daughters, Dixie Fesler, Joyce Clark and Penny Fetters;
son, K. Max Alton; and 8 grandchildren. Funeral services will be
held Friday at 2:00pm in the Karlo Sons Funeral Home with Pastor Glen Osborn
officiating. Burial will be Saturday in the Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.

Helen Drenta
Helen Drenta, age 85, of North Canton, passed away Monday afternoon
in Mercy Medical Center following a brief illness. Born May 26, 1915 in
Pekin, OH, to the late John and Mary (Phillip) Siofletia and had lived
in this area all of her life. She was retired owner of Charlie's Bar #21
in Massillon. Member of St. George Romanian Catholic Cathedral in Canton
and Sf. Maria Ladies Auxiliary. Preceded in death by husband, Charles V.,
Dec. 31, 1995; two sisters, Victoria Vorhies and Mary Longaciu. Survived
by one daughter, Helen Ulmschneider of North Canton; two sons and a daughter-in-law,
Charles J. of Key West, FL, Victor E. and Darlene Drenta of North Canton;
seven grandchildren; 13 gre;at-grandchildren. Funeral services will be
held Friday at 10 a.m. in St. George Romanian Catholic Cathedral with Rev.
Fr. Emmanuel Samayoa and Fr. John Skala officiating. Burial in Calvary

April 8, 2001 in Aultman Hospital. She was preceded in death by her father,
Gerald (Jerry) Himes of Bergholz, OH; and her grandparents, Ralph and Barbara
Scott of Canton, OH. She is survived by her son, Nickolas Ray Himes of
Canton, OH; her mother, Paula; and step-father, Ralph C. Scott, Jr; her
sisters, Brandy Kay Scott of Canton, Christy Boron of Carrollton, OH.,
Tiffany Ann Scott of the home; brothers, Ralph C. Scott III, Christopher
Stanley Scott, Charles William Scott and John Scott all of the home, Steven
Himes of Alabama; her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Daviduk, Sr. of
Canton, OH., Mr. and Mrs. David Himes of Bergholz, OH; great-grandmother,
Ruth Himes of Salt Lake City, UT; great-grandmother, Rachel Masters of

Lois (Jacobs) Roth, 73, passed away in Las Vegas, NV., on March 11,
2001. Her husband Edgar preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughters,
Leslie (Bob) Abramson and Shelley (Jack) Jabaay; sister, Shirley (Paul)
Newman; brothers, Jerry (Fran) Jacobs and Melvin (Portia) Jacobs; sister-in-law,
Elaine (Melvin) Lazarus. A Graveside service will be held on Friday, April

Marjorie L. Long
Marjorie L. Long, age 70, of Carrollton, died Monday, April 9, 2001,
at Aultman Hospital following a short illness. Born in Brown Twp., Carroll
County, OH, on March 10, 1931, she was the daughter of the late William
F. and Mabel (Smith) Schory. She was an adult services librarian at the
Minerva Public Library for over 15 years, a member of the Carroll County
Genealogical Society and the First Christian Church of Malvern. She is
survived by sons, Fred E. Long of Lakeville, OH and John Long of Fortuna,
CA; daughter, Janet Vincent of East Canton; sister, Elizabeth Huckins of
Fortuna, CA; seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband
of 25 years, Robert C. Long in 1979. Funeral services will be held at the
First Christian Church of Malvern at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2001,
with Mr. Eric Crites officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery, Minerva.
Calling hours will be held at the Bartley Funeral Home, Minerva, on Wednesday
(today) 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday, at the church, one hour before

Sharon Casselberry
Sharon L. Casselberry, age 48, of Canton, died Monday morning, April
9, 2001, in her home following an extended illness. She was born in Long
Beach, CA and had resided in Canton since 1993. She was formerly employed
in the Clerical Department of the Target Department Store and was an active
Troop Leader for the Boy Scouts of America. Her father, Warren Simmons,
preceded her in death. Mrs. Casselberry is survived by her husband, Thomas,
to whom she was married for 25 years; her sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond
and Niki Casselberry of Washingtonville, OH, James and Jennifer Casselberry
of Massillon; stepson, Thomas Casselberry III of Inglewood, CA; granddaughter,
Jordan Casselberry; mother, Gwen Simmons of Canton; and brother, Michael
Simmons of Anaheim, CA. At Mrs. Casselberry's request, services and burial

Sylvia Bruegger
Sylvia Carole Bruegger, age 78, of North Canton, died Saturday afternoon
in Doctors Hospital following an extended illness. Born April 8, 1922,
in Hemlock, WV, to the late William Hanson and Cora Ann (Nicholas) Bennett.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and
was a former employee of the Timken Co. Preceded in death by two sons,
William Timothy Blackmer and James Roger Blackmer; four sisters, Ada Coleman,
Lamone Bennett, Minnie Clem and Gracie Russmassan; two infant brothers
and brothers, Stewart Bennett, William Bennett and Harold Bennett; and
step-mother, May Bennett. Survivors include her husband, Russell Bruegger;
several nieces; sisters, Wilden Jarvis of McConnelsville, OH, Georgia Watson
of Dayton, OH, Naomi Barnett, Adaleen Barnett and Leona Nolan, all of Zanesville
and Shirley Miller of Letart, WV, Jean Baker of McConnelsville, OH; and
Betty Lou Jarvis of Stockport, OH; and three brothers, Bobby E. Bennett,
Gary Lee Bennett and William Keith Bennett, all of Ohio. Funeral services

Thelma L. Wood
Thelma L. Wood, age 87, a resident of St. Luke Lutheran Home in North
Canton, passed away there Tuesday morning. She was born in Bedford, KY,
a daughter of the late Lewis H. and Ramie Rowlett Wise, and had been a
resident of the Canton area since 1940. Mrs. Wood retired in 1978 from
Sears, after 15 years service, where she was a cashier in the credit office.
She was a member of the Canton Baptist Temple, the Jolly 60's and the Widows
Support Group of the church, Sears Retirees Club, and she was an avid euchre
and bingo player. Preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Wood, on
May 14, 1973 and one sister, Pauline Cutshaw. Survived by her daughter
and son-in-law, Betty and Wendell Ford of Saluda, NC; her son and daughter-in-law,
Martin and Sandy Wood of Uniontown; three grandchildren, Marcie Wood, Marla
Wood, Robert K. Weckbacher and his wife, Cynthia, and one great-grandson,
Joseph Weckbacher; five brothers and four sisters-in-law, Richard and Gertrude
Wise, and Edward Wise, all of Bedford, KY, Leebert and Ann Wise of Minerva,
OH, Wilson and Ethel Wise of Davenport, FL and Kenneth and Juanita Wise,
of Crystal River, FL; also several nieces and nephews. Services will be

Vera V. Morris, age 96 of Canton, OH, formerly of Sardis, OH died Monday,
April 9, 2001 in the Altercare Health Center, Canton, OH. She was born
August 2, 1904 in Proctor, WV, a daughter of the late George W. and Florence
Hall Bowery. She was a member of the Sardis United Methodist Church, where
she was a life member of the Women's Society and former president of the
Community Club of Sardis. She was an avid crotcheter and seamstress. In
addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles
W. Morris, a son, Charles Morris; two sisters, Grace Taylor and Ruth Romick
and a brother, George Bowery. Survivors include three daughters, Nancy
(George) Rohrer of Hermosa Beach, CA, Dorothy (William) Schweizer of Wheeling,
WV and Mary (John) Adams of Canton, OH; 17 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren
and 8 great-great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends on Wednesday

William Buda
William Buda, age 65, of Massillon, passed away suddenly Monday evening
in his home. Born in Canton. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church.
He was retired a employee from Fisher Foods, where he had been employed
for 40 years as Grocery Manager. He was an Army veteran and served with
the 113th Band as a trumpet player. He was an avid sports fan. Graduate
of Lincoln High School, class of 1954. Preceded in death by his father,
William Buda, Sr., in 1962. Survived by his wife, Rosemarie (DiMarzio)
Buda; mother, Irene (Buda) Marshall of Alliance; three sons and daughters-in-law,
Philip and Connie Buda of Cincinnati, OH, B.D. and Mischelle Buda of Stow,
OH and Rocco and Sherry Buda of Canton; four granddaughters, Alexa Buda,
Kathryn (Katie) Buda, Carly Buda and Ariana Buda; one sister, Sally (Buda)
Anderson of Alliance; mother-in-law, Jennie DiMarzio of Canton; brothers-in-law
and sisters-in-law, Tony and Luann DiMarzio, Jim DiMarzio, Sue (DiMarzio)
Ryiowski, Tony and Mary Louise (DiMarzio Corsi; a number of nieces, nephews

greatest pleasure in the world. His hobbies were spending time with his
