Pablo B. Marruffo, 66, 214 N. Walnut Ave., died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at 7:45 a.m. in Upper Valley Medical Center.
Born May 18, 1936, in San Luis Del Cordero, Durango, Mexico, he was the son of the late Andres Marruffo and Carmen Borrego Marruffo.
On April 28, 1969, he married Maria Zamora Marruffo. She survives.
Other survivors include four sons, Juan P. Marruffo, Cesar L. Marruffo, Jose L. Marruffo, all of Sidney, Juan M. Marruffo of Chilicothe; one daughter, Niza E. Marruffo of Sidney; two brothers, Julio Marruffo of LaMesa, Texas and Agapito Marruffo of San Anton, Texas, and three sisters, Seberino Murruffo of Calif., Maria Vela of Sidney and Maria Marruffo of Monterrey, Mexico.
One brother preceded him in death.
Mr. Marruffo was a member of the Catholic Faith.
He was a packing clerk at Freshway Food.
Services will be Friday at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Brownsville, Texas. There will be a private family viewing at the Cromes Funeral Home on Tuesday. The remains will be sent to the Garza Memorial Funeral Home in Brownsville, Texas for services. Condolences may be expressed through cromesfh@bright.net.

VERSAILLES - Irene A. Ruschau, 85, 312 Park Blvd., died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at 2:10 a.m. at Wayne Hospital in Greenville.
She was born Nov. 6, 1917, in Cassella, the daughter of Edward and Rosalia (Bertke) Heitkamp.
On Oct. 28, 1939, she married Marinus W. Ruschau, who survives.
Other survivors are two sons, Robert Ruschau of Versailles and Allen Ruschau of Tipp City; three daughters, Mrs. Joe (Carolyn) Steiger of Zanesville, Donna Phillips of Rochester, N.Y., and Mrs. Richard (Cindy) Sowell of Lambertville, Mich.; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two brothers, David Heitkamp of Maria Stein and Dennis Heitkamp of New Bremen; and four sisters, Alvira Schoenlein of St. Marys, Velma Burns of Maria Stein, Junita Steinbrunner of Fort Recovery and Alberta Hackemoeller of Minster.
Two brothers preceded her in death.
Mrs. Ruschau was a homemaker. She attended St. Denis Catholic Church and was a member of the Daughters of Isabella at the church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the church in Versailles Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. David Vincent officiating. Burial will be in St. Valbert Cemetery, Versailles.
Friends may call at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles, Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. The Daughters of Isabella will conduct a prayer service there Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Versailles Life Squad.

Age: 90
Sarah A. Davis, 90, 8001 Dayton-Springfield Road, Fairborn, formerly of Sidney, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at 8:40 p.m. at Day Springs Nursing Home in Fairborn.
She was born Dec. 8, 1911, in Sidney, the daughter of Sylvester Barker and Bertha (Chambers) Barker.
In 1943 she married Richard W. Davis. He died June 14, 1993.
She is survived by a son, Richard Davis Jr. of Dayton; three grandchildren; four brothers, Leonard Barker and Marcellus Barker, both of Sidney, Robert L. Barker of St. James City, Fla., and William R. Barker of Troy; and two sisters, Marcella Detrick of Sidney and Georgia Liller of Rio Verde, Ariz.
Mrs. Davis was a retired employee of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. She was administrative assistant to the commander of the 4950th Avionics Maintenance Squadron, retiring in 1982 after 16 years at the base. She was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. She attended St. Luke's United Methodist Church, Fairborn.
Services are set for Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Cromes Funeral Home, with the Rev. Chris Heckaman officiating. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from noon until the time of service.

Earl "Skip" LeVan, 45, of Sidney died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002 at his residence.

Age: 45
Earl H. "Skip" LeVan III, 45, of Sidney, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002.
He was born April 17, 1957, in Piqua, the son of the late Earl H. LeVan II and Anna (Ward) LeVan who survives in Piqua.
On Nov. 2, 2001, he married Doris (McClure) Leis, in Piqua and she survives.
He is also survived by four sons, Earl H. IV, John, Brandon and Evin, all of Piqua; a step-daughter, Mrs. Eric (Michelle) Zumbrun of DeGraff; a sister, Cathy Maggert of Piqua and one granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by a sister.
Mr. LeVan was employed at Norcold Inc. in Sidney for 20 years. He attended Family of Grace United Methodist Church in Piqua. He was a 1975 graduate of Piqua High School. He had been a martial instructor and was a black belt. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving between 1976-1980.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Family of Grace United Methodist Church in Piqua, with Rev. Dennis Miller officiating. Burial will be in Miami Memorial Park Cemetery in Covington.
Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home.

Walter C. Flath, 81, 20838 Deam Road, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002 at 9:50 p.m. at Dorothy Love Retirement Center.
He was born March 2, 1921 in Clayton, the son of Charles and Anna (Webster) Flath.
He married Mary Michael, Nov. 15, 1942 and she survives along with three sisters, Ruth Johnston Adams of Sidney, Clara Davis of Sidney and Ethel Vearn of Dayton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and three sisters.
Mr. Flath, a retired farmer, was a lifelong Shelby County resident, a former president of the Shelby County Fair Board and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post 217 in Sidney and Maplewood Grange.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Adams Funeral Home in Sidney by Rev. George Gnade. Burial will be in Cedar Point Cemetery, Pasco.
Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. An American Legion memorial service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Larry E. Nance

Age: 45
VERSAILLES - Larry E. Nance, 45, died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002 at 5:40 a.m. at Versailles Health Care Center.
He was born Sept. 29, 1957 in Champaign County, the son of the late Robert and Helen (Mayberry) Nance.
He married Kay York of Versailles June 30, 1996 and she survives along with two sons, Greg Nance of Minster and Ryan Fields of Versailles; two daughters, Mrs. Tim (Christi) Herr and Mrs. Chuck (Michelle) Stanifer, both of Springboro; and seven grandchildren.
He is also survived by six sisters, Mrs. Ken (Mary) Schlarman of Troy, Mrs. Mike (Bobbie) Schlarman of Osgood, Linda Newcom of Coldwater, Mrs. Melvin (Kathy) Monnin of Russia, Mrs. Sam (Judy) Mann of Osgood, and Mrs. Frank (Becky) Grilliot of Russia.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Mr. Nance had worked as a truck driver for Eugene Meyer Trucking in Versailles.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, Dec. 7 at 10 a.m. in Beamsville Church with Rev. Steve Short officiating.
Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 6 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Darke County Cancer Association or Beamsville Church.

LaDora Harriet Stayrook

Age: 92
DEGRAFF - LaDora Harriet Stayrook, 92, formerly of DeGraff, died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, at 6:45 a.m. at Logan Acres of Bellefontaine.
She was born Feb. 10, 1910, in Devils Lake, S.C., the daughter of George William and Addie Victoria (Hook) Meranda.
On April 2, 1972, she married Andrew Jacob Stayrook. He died Sept. 21, 1990.
She is survived by a son, Wayne Johnston of DeGraff, eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, a brother, two sisters and a grandson.
Mrs. Stayrook was a retired employee of Stolle Corp., where she worked as a paint sprayer. She was a member of Stoneycreek Church of the Brethren.
Graveside services are set for Friday at 1 p.m. at Greenwood-Union Cemetery, DeGraff, with the Rev. Floyd Lundy officiating.
No calling hours are planned.
Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home of DeGraff is in charge of arrangements.
 
Lisa Wright
Died: Thursday, November 7, 2002
Age: 45
Lisa Wright, 45, of 334 1/2 Grove St., died Nov. 7, 2002, in her residence of a gunshot wound.
Born Oct. 30, 1957, in Allen County, Ind., she was the daughter of Harley J. and Delores G. Wright.
In 1997 she moved to Sidney from Fort Wayne.
Along with her parents two half-brothers survive her, Larry Dowden of Elmira, Calif., Dave Dowden, and one half-sister, Carol Dowden.
She had been employed at the Comfort Inn in Sidney.
Graveside services will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. in Graceland Cemetery, Sidney, with Paul Frank officiating. The body was cremated. There will be no calling hours.
Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Domestic Violence Prevention Program and can be mailed to the funeral home at 502 S. Ohio Ave.

Eva M. Compton

Age: 79
Eva M. Compton, 79, Pasco-Montra Road, died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003, at 6:25 a.m. at Fair Haven Shelby County Home, where she had resided since August, 2002.
She was born Oct. 15, 1923, in Washington County, Va., the daughter of Charles Buchanan who preceded her in death.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. J.W. (Rachel) O'Quinn of Sidney; two sons, David Goff of West Minster and Norman Goff of Goshen, Ind.; a step-son, Paul Compton of Sidney; six grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; a sister Rachel Warren of Webber City, Va. and a brother, Everett Buchanan of Adingdon, Va.
She was preceded in death by a step-son, three sisters and four brothers.
Mrs. Compton had been employed at Copeland Corp. For several years. 
The funeral will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Cromes Funeral Home with Rev. Leamon Branscum officiating. Burial will be in Glen Cemetery in Port Jefferson.
Calling hours will be Friday from 4-8 p.m. at Cromes Funeral Home.

Cyril B. Lochtefeld

NEW PARIS - Cyril B. Lochtefeld, 82, of New Paris, Ohio died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003, at Oak Ridge Nursing & Rehab Center in Richmond, Ind. following a short illness.
He was born July 31, 1920, in St. Rosa, Mercer County, Ohio, the son of the late August and Flora (Garman) Lochtefeld.
He was married to Loise E. Evans, who died in 1987.
He is survived by two sons, James M. Snetz of Walbridge and Wayne L. Kingery of West Carrolton; three grandchildren; a sister, Martha Kirk of Florida; two brothers, Leroy Lochtefeld of Sidney and Robert "Butch" Lochtefeld of Celina; special friend Grace Hanes and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters.
Mr. Lochtefeld retired in 1973, after 30 years at Frigidaire in Dayton. He had been a bus driver for National Trail School District. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army and won a Purple Heart. He was a member of the American Legion Post 245 in New Madison; VFW Post 3288 in Brookville and Fraternal Order of Eagles in Greenville.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 10 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church in New Paris, with Rev. J. Thomas Fitzsimmons officiating. Burial will be in Springlawn Cemetery in New Paris, with full military graveside service by the Darke County Honor Guard.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at Barnes Funeral Home in New Paris.

CELINA - Gracie Mae Parker, 67, 110 Parkview Drive, Celina, mother of a Sidney woman, died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003, at 6:15 a.m. at Celina Manor Nursing Home.
She was born May 6, 1935, in Fonde, Ky., the daughter of William Riley and Marie (Barley) Henderson, who preceded her in death.
On Jan. 4, 1954, she married Cleatis Parker, who survives.
She is also survived by two daughters, Mrs. Randy (Deborah) Cottergain of Sidney and Mrs. Rex (Angela) Eberle of Columbus; four sons, Michael Parker, Timothy Parker and Tobias Parker of Celina and Douglas Parker of Dalton, Ga.; 20 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; seven sisters, Diane Gerber of Sidney, Patsy McJunkin of Botkins and Mrs. Henry (Betty) Rodriguez, Mrs. Dick (Wilma) Abels, Mrs. Bob (Mary) Perry, Mrs. Barry (Trish) Baucher and Mrs. Steve (Shelia) Humbert all of Celina; two brothers, David Henderson of Celina and Steve Henderson of Montezuma.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, two grandchildren and one sister.
Mrs. Parker was a member of Abounding Grace Church in Celina. She was a homemaker.
The funeral will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Abounding Grace Church in Celina with Pastors Rick Brosher and Tony Richmond officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens in St. Marys.
Calling hours will be Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Cisco Funeral Home in Celina and Saturday one hour prior to the 1 p.m. service at the church.

VERSAILLES - Mary A. Fagin, 89, 24 Catalpa Drive, died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003 at 6:03 a.m. at Wilson Memorial Hospital.
She was born May 21, 1913 in Goshen, the daughter of Zeph and Mary (Stagge) Fagin.
She was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church, Versailles and had served as housekeeper for Rev. Fr. Lawrence Jaekle since 1955.
She is survived by three sisters, Ruth Picklehemier of Loveland, Alice Fagin of Loveland and Sister Mary Ancille Fagin of the Sisters of Notre Dame, St. Joseph Heights, Covington, Ky.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Denis Church by Rev. David Vincent. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Cincinnati.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Versailles Life Squad or the Versailles Volunteer Fire Department.

Age: 73
PIQUA - Jeff D. Thomas, 73, of Dayton, father of Norman and James Thomas, both of Sidney, died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003 at 8:55 a.m. in Grafton Oaks Nursing Home, Dayton.
He was born Oct. 24, 1929 in San Antonio, Texas.
He is also survived by three daughters, Susan Idle of Piqua, Yolanda Fullerton of Lima and Theresa Frey of Piqua and seven grandchildren.
Mr. Thomas served in the U.S. Army from 1947 to 1956.
A memorial service will be held Friday at 7 p.m. at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home in Piqua by Rev. Angelo Caserta.

Raymond B. Fullenkamp

ST. HENRY - Raymond B. Fullenkamp, 88, of The Gardens of St. Henry, formerly of Cranberry Prairie, Ohio, died Monday, Jan. 27, 2003, at 2:40 a.m. in his residence.
Born April 14, 1914, in Maria Stein, Ohio, he was the son of the late John and Gertrude Streacker Fullenkamp.
On June 6, 1936, he married the former Emma Rita Richard. She died on Nov. 30, 1998.
Survivors include one daughter, one brother, Louis Fullenkamp of St. Henry; three sisters, Rose Alma Lammer of Minster, Mrs. Ed (Mary Agnes) of Centerville, Mrs. Jerry (Mildred) Vanderhorst of Fort Meyer, Fla., and four grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Two sons, three brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
Mr. Fullenkamp was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Cranberry Prairie.
He was associated with Fullenkamp Distributing Company in St. Henry for 30 years.
Services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Francis Catholic Church with the Rev. David Hoying officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Church Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry on Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m. and from 9 to 10 a.m. on Thursday.

Barry V. Ginn, 50, 6029 Hardin-Wapak Road, Sidney, died early Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2003 at his residence several weeks after being released from the hospital.
An autopsy was conducted by the coroner's office to determine the cause of death.
He was born June 25, 1952 in Sidney, the son of Paul E. and Lois V. (Hetzler) Ginn.
He is survived by his parents of Sidney; one son, Robert Ginn of Norwalk, Iowa; two grandchildren; and two brothers, Larry Ginn of Greenville and Gary Ginn of Houston.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son.
Mr. Ginn attended Houston High School and served with the U.S. Marine Corps stationed in the Philippines. He had most recently been employed as a cook in Fort Wayne, Ind. He was a member of Sidney First United Methodist Church.
Services will be conducted Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Cromes Funeral Home in Sidney by Rev. Joe F. Pumphrey. Burial will be in Miami Memorial Park, Covington.
Visitation will be Thursday from noon until 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

He was the son of John E. and Sandra Costella Eichstadt of Sidney.
He was married to Elva Eichstadt of Philadelphia.
Formerly of the Dayton and Cincinnati areas, he was a 1992 graduate of Centerville High School in Centerville, Ohio, and a graduate of the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Ind.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Aloysius Gonzaga Church, 4366 Bridgetown Road, Cincinnati of Friday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in the St. Aloysius Gonzaga Church. There are no calling hours scheduled.
