William T. Blomquist, 72, professor of management emeritus at Miami University, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 1998, at his home in Oxford.

Memorial services were held Wednesday, Jan. 28, in Faith Lutheran Church, Oxford. Burial was at the Miami University plot at oxford Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Blomquist Memorial Fund, Miami University, 725 E. Chestnut, Oxford, Ohio 45056 or to Faith Lutheran church, 420 S. Campus Ave., Oxford.
 
 

Russell V. Brown

Russell V. Brown, 55, of Liberty, Ind., died Jan. 8, 1998.

He was born Dec. 25, 1942, in Batesville, Ind., the son of Norma Arnold and Russell E. Brown.

Funeral services and burial were private.

Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel was in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be sent to the Hospice Care Unit c/o Fayette Memorial Hospital in Connersville.
 

Zelma L. Clevenger

Zelma L. Clevenger, 97, of Morning Sun Road, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 1998, at the Oxford View Nursing Center.

She was born on May 17, 1900, in Logan County, Ky., to Carrell B. and Mary (Coursey) Flood.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan 28, at the Smith & Ogle Funeral Home. The Rev. Art Hardin of Georgetown, Ky., the former pastor of the Oxford Baptist Church, officiated the service. Burial followed at the Oxford Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Oxford Life Squad.
 

Helen M. Maley

Helen M. Maley, 85, of 644 McGuffy Ave., Oxford, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 1998, at her residence.

She was born on Feb. 11, 1912, in Trenton, Ohio, to William and Bertha Buchanan Brockman.

Private graveside services will be conducted at the convenience of the family. The Rev. Malcolm Greene, pastor of the Bath United Methodist Church, will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bath United Methodist Church or to a charity of the donor's choice in her memory.

Showalter-Blackwell Funeral Home, Baker Chapel, College Corner, is in charge of the arrangements.
 

James K. Harris

James K. Harris, 85, of Dayton, died Friday, Jan. 16, 1998, in Dayton, Ohio. He was born June 29, 1912, in Darrtown, Ohio, to James R. and Nella Krebs Harris.

June H. Helton

June H. Helton, 53, of Liberty, Ind., and formerly of Brookville, Ind., died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 1998, at McCullough Hyde Memorial Hospital, Oxford, after a lengthy illness.

She was born on Feb. 8, 1944, in Laurel, Ind., to Clarence and Lenora Pettit Moore.

Funeral services were conducted at the Showalter-Blackwell Funeral Home, Baker Chapel Saturday, Jan. 24. The Rev. Ruth York Hoskins of the Living Word Assembly officiated. Burial followed at the Butler County Memorial Park, Trenton, Ohio.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Living Word Assembly Youth Group at the funeral home in her memory.
 

Alice A. Laven

Alice A. Laven, age 77, of 4531 S. Beechpoint Drive, Oxford, formerly of Hamilton, died Monday, Jan. 26, 1998, at her residence. She was born in Falmouth, Ky., on March 22,1920, the daughter of George D. and Edna (Rankin) Casey and was raised and attended school in Falmouth.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, at the Smith & Ogle Funeral Home, 101 W. Church St., Oxford with burial at Rose Hill Burial Park.
 

Bernard L. Rowell

Bernard L. Rowell, 72, of 408 W. Water St., Piqua, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 1998, at the Piqua Memorial Medical Center.

He was born on Oct. 25, 1925, in Sidney, to Frank and Ethel Snider Rowell. He married Della M. Putnam on Feb. 1, 1944, in Piqua.

Funeral services were held Saturday Jan. 24, at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home. The Rev. Richard Smith officiated. Burial followed at Miami Memorial Park Cemetery, Covington.

Blanche Somers

Blanche Somers, 84, died Wednesday Jan. 21, 1998, at Hillcrest Estates, Liberty, Ind.

She was born on March 17, 1913, in Preble County, Ohio, to William and Mary (Bolesman) Doty.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 24, at the R.C. Nein & Sons-Limber Funeral Home, Willard Moss Jr. Memorial Chapel, Camden, Ohio. The Revs. Kenn Barton and Jean Holmes officiated. Burial followed at the Fairmount Cemetery, Camden, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Sugar Valley Methodist Church, 3022 Camden-Sugar Valley Road, Camden, Ohio 45311.

Raymond F. Schutte, 70, of Reily Twp., died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 1998. He was born on Aug. 30, 1927, in Hamilton, Ohio, to George and Emilie (Lehmann) Schutte.

Prayer services were held Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Colligan Funeral Home, Hamilton. Mass of Christian Burial was also held Saturday at St. Mary Church of Oxford.

Memorials may be directed to a charity of one's choice in his memory. 
 

Clarence R. Ziegler

Clarence R. Ziegler died suddenly in his home in Oxford, Sunday, Jan. 25, 1998.

He was born on Sept. 15, 1911, near McArthur, Ohio, and was one of four children born to Grace Graves Ziegler and Francis Ziegler.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, at the Oxford Presbyterian Church. The Smith & Ogle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital of Oxford. 
 

Ruth M. Barnard

Ruth M. Barnard, 91, formerly of 3207 E. State 44, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 1998, at the Hillcrest Estates Nursing Home, Liberty, Ind. She was born April 18, 1906, in Union County, Ind., to Arthur G. and Nora John Shepler.

Funeral services were conducted at the Showalter-Blackwell Funeral Home, Baker-Fosdick Chapel Wednesday, Jan. 21. Burial followed at West Point Cemetery, Liberty.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Greenwood United Methodist Church at the funeral home.

Marlon Byrd Sr.

Marlon Byrd Sr., 64, of Somerville, died at his residence Saturday, Jan.17, 1998.

He was born on Jan 17, 1934, in Menifee County, Ky., to Henry and Lizzie Byrd. He married Allene Means on Dec. 26, 1950, in Menifee County, Ky. Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 19, at the R. C. Nein & Sons-Limber Funeral Home, Willard Moss Jr. Memorial Chapel, Camden.

Burial followed at Butler County Memorial Park.

Clyde E. Elliott, 56, of Oxford, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 1998, at Fort Hamilton Hughes Hospital.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 20, at the Smith & Ogle Funeral Home, Oxford.

Burial was at the National Cemetery in Dayton.
 

Mary L. McFall

Mary L. McFall, 89, of Oxford, died Friday, Jan. 16, 1998, at the Oxford View Nursing Home.

She was born in Preble County on Sept. 9, 1908, the daughter of David M. and Katie E. Miles King.

She attended Eaton High School and graduated in the class of 1928. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 21, at the Smith & Ogle Funeral Home, Oxford. Burial was at the Fairmount Cemetery in Camden with the Rev. Robert K. Foster officiating.
 

Denny Nunn

Denny F. Nunn, 64, Oxford, dear brother of Sylvia Maynard, Larry Nunn and the late Beatrice Hendrickson, Tedd, Calvin and Herbert Nunn, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 1998.

Friends may call at the Hodapp Funeral Home, 7401 Vine St., Cincinnati from noon until the time of the service Friday, Jan. 23.
 

Ruth Weber Wheeler

Mrs. Ruth Weber Wheeler, 80, Dewitt, Mich., former Oxford resident and teacher of reading in various Talawanda District Schools over a number of years, was fatally injured Sunday, Jan. 18, 1998, in an automobile collision at the Lansing intersection of Francis Road and Grand River Avenue, less than two miles from her home.

She was born Aug. 5, 1917, at Dayton, Ohio, was a 1939 graduate of Western College and had been on the staff of Hamilton YMCA until her marriage to Philip T. Wheeler in 1945. She helped him establish a printing business in Oxford and a magazine called "The Midwest Fisherman." As involvement in printing and related enterprises took him to new areas, she taught school and raised three children in Elkton, Md., Wilmington, Del., Grand Haven, Mich., and DeWitt.

A memorial service may be set for a later date. For memorial donations, donors' choice has been suggested.

J. T. Baker Jr., 51, of 1000 W. 18th St., Connersville, Ind., died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998, at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, Ind. Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 10, at the Showalter-Blackwell Funeral Home, Baker-Fosdick Chapel with the Rev. Glen Hawkins of the United Pentecostal Church, Richmond, officiating. Burial followed at West Point Cemetery, Liberty.

Lois Oldham Blackburn

Lois Oldham Blackburn died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton, Ohio, after an illness of several months. The Grosse Pointe, Mich., resident was 85. Funeral services were held Saturday at the Grosse Pointe United Church, 240 Chalfonte, Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich., with cremation to follow.

Russell V. Brown, 55, of Indianapolis, Ind., formerly of Connersville, Ind., died Jan. 8, 1997. Funeral services and burial were private. Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.

John Fergusson Campbell

John Fergusson Campbell, 85, a resident of Oxford since 1986, formerly of Norristown, Penn., died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998, at Oxford View Nursing Center. The family is planning a memorial service at a later date, and suggests those who wish may contribute to Oxford Senior Citizens, Inc., P.O. Box 381, Oxford, Ohio, 45056.

Marie Long Jasbring, 87, died Jan. 8, 1998, at Golden Years Nursing Home where she had resided several years. Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 12, at Smith & Ogle Funeral Home, Oxford, with the Rev. Paul Tillett officiating.
 

Mary E. Lackey

Mary E. Lackey, 92, 409 E. Union St., Liberty, Ind., died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998, at Park Manor Nursing Home in Liberty, Ind. There will be no public service. Showalter-Blackwell Funeral Home, Baker-Fosdick Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.

Robert J. Mathias, 95, of Oxford, Ohio, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998, at McCullough Hyde Hospital. Funeral services were held Saturday Jan. 10, at Smith & Ogle Funeral Home. Oxford. Burial was at College Corner Cemetery.

Maxine McCashland, 88, former Liberty resident, died at the Heritage Regency Nursing Center at Richmond, Ind., Friday, Jan. 9, 1998. Funeral services were held at Showalter-Blackwell Funeral Home, Baker-Fosdick Chapel, Liberty, Tuesday, Jan.13. Burial was at West Point Cemetery, Liberty.

Forrest L. Mikesell

Forrest L. Mikesell, 81, Lakeland, Fla., died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 1998, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center at Lakeland, Fla. Funeral services were held at Showalter-Blackwell Funeral Home, Baker-Fosdick Chapel, Liberty, Ind., Monday, Jan. 12, with the Revs. Richard Watt and Frank Holman of the Hillcrest Baptist Church officiating. Burial followed at Earlham Cemetery, Richmond, Ind.

Maxine "Toole" Teetzel

Maxine "Toole" Teetzel, 86, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998, at the Brookville Healthcare Center in Brookville, Ind., where she had been a resident for the past seven years. Graveside services were held at the convience of the family at the Oxford Cemetery. Smith & Ogle Funeral Home of Oxford is assisting with the arrangements.

Evon Welborn, 92, of Greenbrier Nursing Home, Eaton, Ohio, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 1998. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 13, at the R.C. Nein & Sons-Limber Funeral Home, Willard Moss Jr. Memorial Chapel, Camden, with the Malcom Greene officiating. Burial followed at Collinsville Cemetery, Collinsville.
