Isabelle Hamman Butterfield
Isabelle Hamman Butterfield, 90, died at her
residence on April 1, 1998, in Cridersville.
She was born March 29, 1908, in Oxford to Harry
and Ida (Salyer) Hamman. She married Galvin H. Butterfield on Jan. 27,
1927.
Funeral services were held in Cridersville.
Glenn S. Dennison
Glenn S. Dennison, 85, of Oxford, died April
6, 1998, in Weslaco, Texas where he and his wife have spent the past 16
winters. He was born in Carroll County, Ind., on Aug. 7, 1912.
He graduated from McGuffy High School and attended
Miami University for two years. He farmed until 1944 in McGonigle. In 1944
he became a Nationwide Mutual Insurance Companies. He retired in 1982.
Funeral services were held April 13 at the Smith
& Ogle Funeral Home. Burial followed at Oxford Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to a favorite charity
in his memory.
Joseph H. Eucks
Joseph H. Eucks, 61, of College Corner, Ohio,
died April 7, 1998, at his home. He was born in Franklin County, Ind.,
on Sept. 28, 1936, the son of Ernest and Helen (Mitchell) Eucks. He married
Geraldine Rodgers in Jellico, Tenn., on Nov. 9, 1994.
Burial followed at the College Corner Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bob Ridenour, Cliff Ezsol, Fred Hackney, Larry Thomas,
Bob Combs and Rick Maddock.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer
Society.
Raymond L. Moloney
A memorial service for Raymond L. Moloney will
be held at 4 p.m. April 24 in the Sesquicentennial Chapel on the campus
of Miami University. He died Dec. 16, 1997 at his home on Fountain Hills,
Ariz.
Virgil W. Pohlar
Virgil W. Pohlar, 80, of 6163 S. State Road,
101, Liberty, Ind., died April 8, 1998, at the Brookville Health Center
in Brookville, Ind. He was born on March 25, 1918. He married Annabel F.
Dudley on Aug. 17, 1940, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oxford.
Mass of Christian burial was held at St. Bridget's
Catholic Church on April 13. The pastor of the church, the Rev. John O'Brien,
officiated. Burial followed at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Boston, Ind.
Memorials are suggested to Reid Hospital Foundation
for Hospice, St Bridget's Building Fund or the St. Michael's School Building
Fund in Brookville.
Ida Mae Posvar
Ida Mae Posvar, age 84, of Indianapolis, Ind.,
died at her home on March 30, 1998.
She was born July 8, 1913, in Madison County,
Ky.
A graveside service was held at the Oxford Cemetery.
The Smith & Ogle Funeral Home, Oxford, was
in charge of local arrangements.
Gary M. Robbins
Gary M. Robbins, 48, of 517 North 21st St., Richmond,
Ind., was found dead near the railroad overpass on North 20th St, in Richmond
on Sunday. The Wayne County Coroner's office is investigating the death.
He was born in Richmond, Ind. on Aug. 31, 1949.
Plans for public graveside services were not
complete as of presstime. Showalter-Blackwell Funeral Home, Baker-Fosdick
Chapel, Liberty, is in charge of arrangements.
Paul R. Sarringhaus
Paul R. Sarringhaus, 77, of Middletown, died
April 7, 1998, in Middletown Regional Hospital.
He was born in Indiana but his family moved to
Hamilton when he was 2 years old. He graduated from Hamilton High School.
He was well-known in Butler County sports circles.
He was Ohio's high school football player of the year in 1939 when the
Big Blue went undefeated and won the state championship. Funeral services
were held Saturday at Colligan Funeral Home, in Hamilton with burial in
Rose Hill Burial Park.
Memorials are suggested to the American Heart
Association or a charity of one's choice.
Theodore F. Thomas
Theodore F. Thomas, 87, of Prescott, Ariz., died
April 8 at his home. He was born in Harrison, Ohio, the son of George and
Rosa (Schlaunt) Thomas. In the late 1930s and early 1940s, he and his brother,
Paul, operated "The Thrift Shop," one of Oxford's first radio sales and
repair stores.
Graveside services were held Saturday at the
Oxford Cemetery with the Rev. James Sargent of the Oxford United Methodist
Church officiating.
Arrangements were made by the Smith & Ogle
Funeral Home in Oxford.
Contributions in Thomas' memory may be made to
a charity of the donor's choice.
Anna F. Warren
Anna F. Warren, 74, of Oxford, died April 6,
1998, at McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital in Oxford. She was born on August
1, 1923, in Lawrenceburg, Ind. Funeral services were held April 10 at the
Elm Street Christian Church in Oxford with the Rev. Roger Frazier officiating.
Burial was at the Butler County Memorial Park,
Trenton.
Martha J. Weidenbach
Martha J. Weidenbach, 80, of Snowden Road, West
College Corner, Ind., died Sunday at the Oxford View Nursing Center. She
was born in Franklin County, Ind. on Feb. 16, 1918, the daughter of Andrew
and Cora (Hyde) Weidenbach. She was a graduate of McGuffey High School.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Smith
& Ogle Funeral Home with the Rev. Malcolm B. Greene, pastor of the
Bath United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was in the Big Cedar
Cemetery, Springfield Township, Franklin County, Ind.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bath
United Methodist Church.
Paul F. Witter
Paul F. Witter, 96, formerly of Camden, died
April 12, 1998, at Ashton Woods Rehabilitation Center in Atlanta, Ga. He
was born March 24, 1902, in Camden.
A memorial service was held April 14 at the R.C.
Nein & Sons-Limber Funeral Home/Willard Moss Jr. Memorial Chapel, in
Camden. A Masonic Service with Camden Lodge #159 was held. Memorial contributions

Bill Crawford
Bill Crawford, 70, died at his home in Oxford
Saturday morning. He was a native of Trenton, Mo. He was born Oct. 12,
1927.
He married Etta Jean Mason in Harris, Mo. on
Aug. 10, 1952.
Funeral services were held Wednesday from the
Resthaven Mortuary in Trenton, Mo. with burial in the Asbury Cemetery west
of Milan, Mo. Local arrangements were made by Smith & Ogle Funeral
Home.

Paul R. Eisele
Paul R. Eisele, 88, Oxford, died Wednesday, June
9, at the McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital. He was born May 22, 1910,
in Hamilton, Ohio. He married Margie Stoelting on Sept. 22, 1938, at St.
Joseph Church in Hamilton. He farmed near Oxford for 25 years from 1948
to 1973 and worked at Miami Univer sity and then for the Talawanda School
District before retiring at 1976. Mass of the Christian Burial was held
Saturday, June 13, at the St. Marys Catholic Church, Oxford. Burial was
at St. Stephen's Cemetery, Hamilton.
Leonard E. Hollis Sr.
Leonard E. Hollis Sr., 77, of 4745 Wallace Road,
Oxford, died Sunday, June 14. He was born in Danville, Ill., Oct. 8, 1920,
and was a veteran of WW II. He worked for General Motors, Fisher Body Plant
in Fairfield for 36 years, retiring in 1986.
Funeral services will be held noon, Friday, June
19, at Gray Road Church of Christ, off Winton Road, 4826 Gray Road, Cincinnati.
Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 20, at Woodside Cemetery, Oxford.
Wayne Mahar Jackson
Wayne Mahar Jackson, 38, died unexpectedly Sunday,
June 7, 1998, at Union Regional Medical Center, Monroe, N.C.
Born March 3, 1960, in Burlington, Vt., Wayne
grew up in Oxford where he graduated from Talawanda High School in 1978
and later received his landscaping degree from Clark Community College
in Springfield.
Funeral services were held June 10 at the New
Life Church of God, Monroe, N. C., with burial at Beulah Presbyterian Church
Cemetery, Pageland, S.C. Memorials may be made to the New Life Church of
God, 3220 Secrest Short Cut Road, Monroe, S.C., 28110.
Crystal E. Coughlin
Crystal E. Coughlin, 91, of the Friends Fellowship
Community, Richmond, Ind., and formerly of Liberty, Ind., died Thursday,
Nov. 5, 1998, at the Friends Fellowship Community. She was born on July
28, 1907 in Clay City, Ind.
She had served on the board of directors for
the Union County Library and for the Union County Foundation Board.
Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 9, at
the Showalter-Blackwell Funeral Home. Baker-Fosdick Chapel in Liberty.
The Rev. Dawn Gold, pastor of her church, officiated.
Burial was at West Point Cemetery, Liberty.

County Historical Society in her memory at the funeral home.

Arlene R. Isler, of Okeana, died Thursday, Nov.
5, 1998.
Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 9, at

Margaret B. Loge
Margaret B. Loge, 78, of Oxford, died Sunday,
Nov. 8, 1998, at the Oxford View Nursing Center where she had been a resident
for the past several years. She was born on June 19, 1920, in Oxford. She
graduated From Mc Guffey High School in the class of 1939.
She worked for Miami University in the 1809 room
from 1957-1983 as a cook.
Funeral Services were held Wednesday, Nov. 11,
at the First Christian Church, 5877 Todd Road. Smith & Ogle Funeral
Home, Oxford, was in charge of the arrangements.
Burial was at the Oxford Cemetery.

Treva B. Paddock
Treva B. Paddock, 92, 215 W. High St., Liberty,
Ind., died Thursday, Nov. 5, 1998, at Reid Hospital, Richmond, Ind. She
was born July 2, 1906, at Buzzard Roost, Ohio. She had lived in Liberty
most of her life. She had worked as a secretary for many years for Grimme
Distributing Co. in Liberty before retiring.
Private services were held at the convenience
of the family.
The Rev. Fred Cox, pastor of her church Hill
officiate.
Burial was at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens, Boston,
Ind. The Showalter-Blackwell Funeral Home. Baker-Fosdick Chapel in Liberty,
was in charge of the arrangements.
Marjorie P. Rhinesmith
Marjorie P. Rhinesmith died on Nov. 3 at Christ
Hospital, two weeks after suffering a stroke. Mrs. Rhinesmith resided in
Oxford from 1986 until 1997, when she moved to Evergreen retirement center
in Cincinnati. In Oxford Mrs. Rhinesmith was an active docent with the
Miami University Art Museum. She moved to Oxford to be near her daughter,
Sue Momeyer, and family.

Ruby Vietor
Ruby Vietor, 86, of Liberty, Ind., died in the
early morning hours on Thursday, January 28, at McCullough-Hyde Memorial
Hospital in Oxford. Born December 28, 1912 in Wayne County, Ind., Ruby
was a past member of the Eastern Star.
She was employed by the Dunlapsville Grade School
and the Union County High and Elementary Schools as a cook. She retired
in 1972 after more than 25 years of service.
Private funeral services will be conducted at
the convenience of the family at the Showalter-Blackwell-Long Funeral Home,
Baker-Fosdick Chapel, Liberty, Ind. Burial will take place in Dunlapsville
Cemetery, Union County, Ind. There was no public calling.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Union
County Foundation for the Dunlapsville Cemetery.
Thomas J. Cobbe
Miami professor of botany emeritus, Thomas J.
Cobbe, 80, died of cancer early Saturday at Garden Manor Retirement Center.
He was born in Cincinnati, July 18, 1918, received his bachelor's degree
from the University of Cincinnati and his doctorate from the University
of Michigan.
He came to Miami as an instructor in 1957, advanced
the next year to assistant professor, and in 1968 to associate professor.
Cobbe retired in 1984.
Memorial services are set at Miami University's
Sesqui-centennial Chapel at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 4. Smith & Ogle
Funeral Home, Oxford is handling arrangements.
Contributions in lieu of flowers may be sent
to the Cincinnati Art Museum.
Dennis E. Naken
Dennis E. Naken, 64, of Punta Gorda Isles, died
January 31. Born September 25, 1934 in Detroit, Dennis was a mechanical
engineer with the Square "D" Company and was a member of Punta Gorda Elks.
The service and burial will be decided at a later
date.
